In the suburbs and other such places, you often get to know your regular carrier. That helps immensely in having good deliveries, provided of course that the person is well meaning and competent at the job.
So, up till the past year, we've usually known who the person is because they'd drive packages up to the house that can't be put into the mailbox, and they'd make sure mail was handled properly otherwise. And we happily tipped them at the end of the year, which they always much appreciated.
But before Covid, even, whoever the guy or gal is now just doesn't get up the driveway very often and we haven't the slightest idea who it is. And it seems to make a difference in the quality of the service. Or in our perception of it. I definitely miss the Before Times.
