Well, you've read the notes, the notes had the lay and the land, and now it is time for you to post until the lay of the land cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: CLARION!
-
First post after BK.
-
Is Dino on vacation?
-
I think one perk you should offer is dinner out with you and Cindy Williams.
-
Has jan been here today?
-
I hope she is okay.
-
I watched IN & OUT again. I love that movie. I think it has a scene that is every gay man’s fantasy. Tom Selleck kissing Kevin Kline! Okay, maybe it is just my gay fantasy.
-
To answer Tom's question from last night...no, I have 't seen (or maybe I just haven't noticed) the Look Larson Auto dealer commercials with Rob Larson Jr. I guess I need to watch for them. ;)

I remember that scene! And I certainly wouldn't have minded getting some of that. :D
-
I have to take my car in for the collision repairs in the morning. They said my rental car will be waiting. Now I see why. Enterprise is right next door to the body shop.
-

The first break after Milo comes on, you can see the commercial.
-
And here it is!

So, I guess I should get some sleep.

Cool. I'll definitely look for it.

Yes, that would be it.
-
Good night, George.

The number of times I have watched THE BIG CHILL just for the bedroom scenes with Kevin Kline.
-
Good night.

Good night, Tom.

I watched it...he's very nice to look at! ;D
-
Dinner with Cindy and me - I like it!
-
That would be fun!
-
Tonight, my friend Margo and I are going to my friends Michael and Heather's house, and we're going to see an outdoor movie that Michael will project onto the side of his big workshop. They've been showing outdoor movies for several years now, and it's always a lot of fun!
-
And now, I'm off.
Have a good day, all
-
I am sorry to disappoint you TCB,but the fact it's I have first dibs on Kevin Kline, ever since I saw him in The Pirates of Penzance on Broadway
-
I ambusy trying to dry and style my hair so that my license picture will be better than the last one.

TOD:
L’Humanite, a weird French murder mystery of sorts
Klute
-
Two!
-
Well I got here to DMV 30 minutes before doors opened so I would be first on line
-
About 80 other people had the same idea and got here first
-
But by 8:13 my photo was taken and I had my assigned wait number
-
And now I wait
-
Doors opened at 8
-
E very time I come to the DMV I think of the same thing
-
What does a yellow light mean?
-
My number is B 436
-
I was quite pleased when I sat down to see B430 had already been called
-
But then theh called B429
-
And just now 428
-
432!
-
Ok moving back in the right direction
-
431
-
I am confused
-
434
-
For those of you keeping track
-
For those of you keeping track
-
I was called at 8:46
-
I also needed to process my car title
-
I discovered I never had it put in my name
-
Since 2013
-
So that's done now
-
But the same guy couldn't process an enhanced license
-
So I'm back waiting again
-
Isnt this fascinating?
-
Good morning, all!
-
Stella has created a mess that will occupy much of my morning. I am not pleased.
-
DR vixmom, I hope you are freed from DMV hell soon. I need to renew my license by the end of August.
-
Page 3 Dance!
-
I had few plans for today, but Stella's climbing has changed them. As soon as Annabelle and I patrol, order more cat food from Amazon, and I have my breakfast, I'll tackle her mess.
-
I hope Stella is showing proper remorse for her behavior.
-
Getting called vibes for DR VIXMOM.
-
Nice day here weather wise.
I shop for my own groceries - although the day may come when that is not possible - I go to WalMart weekly and every couple of months take a trip to Aldi.
At WalMart there are always half a dozen employees walking around shopping for folks with a phone in their hands and pulling a cart with four or more bins....
Some of them I would not want to choose my bananas.....
-
Nice artwork in the notes.
Voice and car engine vibes for MR BK.
I like Papa John's - and now and then get a pizza or two from them when they have a "special."
-
Still waiting
-
Good morning, all.
-
Vixmom, do you think Godot will EVER show up?
-
And here it is!
Vixmom has to object to that picture because they aren't shirtless.
-
I have to take my car in for the collision repairs in the morning. They said my rental car will be waiting. Now I see why. Enterprise is right next door to the body shop.
That is nice and convenient. I hope you like your rental.
-
DR Vixmom good luck with the license photo.
-
Woo hoo! Done until 2027
-

Is this for pick up or delivery? At first I thought the customer was with them.
-
Then Annabelle, eager to patrol, attempted to jump on the computer table, grabbed a pile of papers, and took them and my cup of coffee to the floor with her. The coffee missed me, and she didn't get wet either. I'm happy my favorite mug didn't break.
-
I cleaned up that mess, we went on patrol, which was brief since some workmen shopwed up at the door and frightened her. When she walks to the elevator and waits for me to open the door, I know patrol is over. As soon as I opened the apartment door, Stella ran out into the hall, and I had to chase her down.
-
I still can't decide if Thatch is a really good boy or merely less maladroit than the other two.
-
Because Washington is a santuary state I had to get an enhanced license simply to fly in the US. I didn't realize it is also to go over the border. We have been using our passports which we still need when flying to Canada. It is good to know that next time we drive we can leave our passports at home.
-
So, Friday.
Oh wait, first there's yesterday. Which was Thursday.
ONCE UPON A TIME ... IN HOLLYWOOD was a lot of fun and I'll certainly see it again sometime. I'll have to talk about it when I have the time and energy to better organize my thoughts.
Just one quick impression, and it's not a spoiler. (No one should drop spoilers for this film.) The depiction of Manson family members has to be one of the more chilling things I've seen. For one who immersed himself in the subject back in the day, a couple of central scenes brought these people to life in a way that nothing ever has.
-
Wow, lots of stuff going on here this morning.
Vixmom has moved into the DMV. Will she enjoy regular meals and showers there?
-
The cats have taken over West 82nd Street, and it's all that the human servant can do to keep up.
-
DR Chas ;D
-
I took a one-shot subbing job playing the piano/celeste book in a WEST SIDE STORY sitzprobe tomorrow. It's being staged by some youth group and I'm only playing this one rehearsal, but I was told that they've assembled excellent musicians (don't know how many) so it'll be great fun playing through the whole thing. I need to look at a few places in the score before doing that!
-
Tonight I'm attending an outdoor production of SHREK THE MUSICAL. I'm hearing that it's done quite well, but it would be enjoyable for me anyway, just in comparing notes between this and the production I played in the spring. If nothing else, I'd be looking forward to hearing how the small band handles it.
-
And here it is!

Vixmom has to object to that picture because they aren't shirtless.
Well it certainly would improve the aesthetics
-
Vixmom, are you out of jail?
-
I still can't decide if Thatch is a really good boy or merely less maladroit than the other two.
Maybe, or just less energetic.
-
He's also still the shy one of the three.
-
Let’s move on ...
-
Four!
-
Stella has created a mess that will occupy much of my morning. I am not pleased.
Poor baby girl.
-
Another day without my Mac.
:'( :'(
-
He's also still the shy one of the three.
Yes.
-
The other two are more like typical kittens and young cats to me. And those smooth surfaces they jump onto don't help, especially when they take a running leap. ;D
-
The vacuuming half of Stella's mess is finished.
-
I think Thatch and I will lie down in front of the fan and watch the soaps. Then I will tackle part of of la pagaille de la Stella.
-
But the same guy couldn't process an enhanced license
Wow, lots of stuff going on here this morning.
Vixmom has moved into the DMV. Will she enjoy regular meals and showers there?
My guess, from todays visit, is that the majority of visitors shun showers
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Glad to see that Vixmom has completed the dreaded DMV ordeal.
Were you able to get an enhance license--just from other clerk?
-
The last time I went to the DMV it was to pick up the rules booklet. The ones in English are kept behind the counter and you have to WAIT IN LINE just to get a damn booklet!!! The Chinese ones are for the taking in the racks. The line, of course, is horrendous. I waited in the handicapped line. Which was short. I don't like to do that as I look able-bodied, even though I'm not really. I expected to get lots of nasty stares, but I didn't--or I didn't notice.
California is usually pretty progressive about these things, but the DMV is one area where a LOT of improvement is needed. Some of the offices now have a kiosk for certain services. I don't know the details. Maybe it's for the showers and cot.
-
Last night I noticed a voicemail from my doctor's nurse, whose nickname is Tee. I tried to call her back, but was connected to a call center. The woman had no idea who my doctor was. After repeated holds she connected me to a Beverly Hills office, which was not correct, and was closed by then anyway.
This morning I tried a different number. Same thing. ALL calls to anyone at Cedars-Sinai are now routed through a call center. They claim they will triage your call. I understand triaging the patients, but triaging the calls?? OY!! Is there any way this could possibly be more efficient? I see it as putting one more wall between the patient and his/her doctor.
-
And I thought that Mercury retrograde was over!

And here it is!

I look at that picture and say, "Nice watch!"

Have a good day, everyone.
TTFN.
-
Glad to see that Vixmom has completed the dreaded DMV ordeal.
Were you able to get an enhance license--just from other clerk?
I was! Once I receive the original ( in 7 -10 business days I was assured) I can use it for domestic airline travel and ground travel to Canada and Mexico

I was handed mine on the spot! And the whole process probably took all of twenty minutes, after waiting a very short time for one or two people ahead of me.
This was at a AAA office, which was absolute heaven in comparison to a DMV. Well, that would go without saying.
-
And yet, I said it.

That is crazy that only English pamphlets are kept behind the counter.

Truly a bad system. When I call my doctors that are with the Peace Health (hospital) system I have to listen to a message and press the corrects numbers. While slightly annoying it is nothing like what you have to deal with. Can you message your doctor's office using an online "my chart" or whatever system they use?

Amazing. Through the DMV we had to wait for ours in the mail & had a temporary paper one until then.

Topic of the Day: I'm listening to the 2007 London cast recording of Fiddler on the Roof (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0010DJL24). It's available for free through Amazon Prime Music streaming.
-
After that will probably be the Prime Music streaming of the Broadway cast recording of Bandstand (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0727Q8857/). :)

Oh, my! Sounds a little like Olympia. ::)
;)
-
I'm up, I'm up - nine hours of sleep.
-
No word from the car guy yet - he'll call when he has something to say, I'm sure.
-
Important envelope has arrived, so Grant is not busy so he'll take me to get it and then to the bank, then I'll buy him lunch (and me, too). That's a big load off.
-
We'll leave in about fifteen or twenty minutes, I think.
-
This morning Annabelle passed up breakfast, but she ate the treats and dry food I gave her because I need to know if she's not eating because her nose is stopped up. This afternoon, she ate her dinner. Go figure.
-
Then I had to re-upload all the GEE audio files because they told me they were too low. This is the second time for re-uploading. Mind you, I spent thirty minutes on the phone with an ACX person PRIOR to recording and told him to tell me exactly what I needed to come away with - there was nothing about the size of the mp3s, nor the loudness, and I'm sure both were fine, but they have their little specs - when they told me about the loudness level, I wrote them a very strong note that it was not acceptable to be hearing this NOW, that I'd needed to be told this PRIOR to editing. They don't even respond.
-
I'm very interested in seeing the musical (HHW's own) Robert Yacko is starring in with Rita Rudner. The comment about the comedy in a review that there's a Dom Perignon/Dom DeLuise joke seemed like it was reaching out to me and saying if you find that funny (I did), that's the demographic for the jokes.
-
BK, did they ever do this show is L.A.? It's called "Two's a Crowd," and Rita Rudner co-write the book with her husband Martin Bergman.

Jane, I can email the doctor and often do. But it would be nice to call directly!

Friday afternoon greetings from Detroit’s western ‘burbs! My drive was smooth, but longer than expected due to construction delays. In about half an hour I’ll make my way to dinner with a class of ‘69 friend. Their big reception is tonight, so we’re meeting beforehand.
-
TCB, thanks for the information last night about delivery fees vs size of order. I can really appreciate how much this service is needed. I often wish I had help with heavy items. Unfortunately, the stores I shop don't offer it. They are smaller stores, not supermarkets.
-
More calls between my doctor's office (different doctor), pharmacy, and insurance company. The new PA sent my prescriptions to the wrong pharmacy and a form regarding medical necessity was apparently never submitted. Sigh. I feel I have to check everything, follow up on everything. And then there's the phone tag. It's enough to drive a person crazy.
-
Important envelope has arrived, so Grant is not busy so he'll take me to get it and then to the bank, then I'll buy him lunch (and me, too). That's a big load off.
Good that Grant was free and you could get it all taken care of.

Have fun. The concept of multiple classes sharing the same reunion is not one I have embraced. We even keep our half year class separate from the other half.

I can imagine your frustration. It is worse when you don't feel great to begin with.
-
I just went to www.donotcall.gov and registered our phones. It was very easy.
-
I remember when we didn't need to register our cell phones >:(
-
They did it in Laguna or San Diego or somewhere like that - not LA. Robert wasn't in that one. I'm told she's funny, the material is mostly stand-up stuff she's already done, the songs are just stuck in and not so good, but it's a good gig for Robert. If you go, be sure to see him after.
-
Back from picking up packages and the important envelope, the bank, lunch at California Pizza Kitchen (cedar plank salmon, small Caesar - less than calories), then Grant had to put gas in his motor car, and I got two large Diet Coke bottles to tide me over until I can have Ralph's deliver a couple of cases. Does Costco deliver? Now, I'm home and I don't think I need to go out again, unless I feel like taking a two mile walk later to Rite Aid (one there, one back) to get some Claritin-D - down to my last one.

This afternoon was a continuation of this morning--calls to two doctor's offices, two pharmacies, and my insurance company. We make progress, but it's slow. All of this is so unnecessary, it's all correcting some person's mistakes. The amount of time spent trying to correct them is far greater than the time it would take to do the task in the first place.
Yes, Jane, I emailed my doctor and told him it's insane trying to get through by phone. I know he wasn't happy about the call center decision, but it wasn't his decision.
-
As far as I'm concerned, Mercury retrograde is still very much in effect.
-
Important envelope has arrived, so Grant is not busy so he'll take me to get it and then to the bank, then I'll buy him lunch (and me, too). That's a big load off.
Whew!
-
I just learned that my friend Bob Ullman has died. His theatre going began when he was a boy in the early 1930s and he worked for years as a press rep. He worked on the 1964 revival of The Boys from Syracuse, the original production of A Chorus Line, and a lot shows. He was also a good friend of Ethel Merman. He and Playbill editor Louis Botto took me to lunch one day and told the funniest stories about a ton of celebrities. When Bob retired, hew and his partner ran an antiques shop in the Hamptons, and a phone call from the Hamptons meant a lot of outrageous humor and nostalgia as he answered my questions about shows he'd seen. He was one of the funniest, kindest, and most generous men i've known. I will miss him.
-
Talked to the car place - they found a refurbished engine with basically the same mileage as mine, so they'll do that and fix the other stuff that needs fixing and all for less than they originally told me, so I gave them the go ahead - should be ready in a week.
-
Good car news for MR BK! And good news about the Important Envelope!
-
My car insurance notice AND my cable bill came....and my mortgage payment is due to come out of the checking account.....so that is now done.....and I still have some money there - which is nice. My life insurance....which is really death insurance to pay for the funeral....will be due next month as well....
-
DR JANE - I'm not sure if the shoppers are picking for delivery or pickup.....but they certainly get in the way of the regular shoppers trying to get down the aisles.....or they stop to talk to each other and block an aisle completely.....
-
DR GEORGE I purchased the BANDSTAND Cast Cd and I like it a lot....I am hoping someone around here does a nice production of it.
WEST SIDE STORY vibes for DR CHAS SMITH.
Glad to hear that DR VIXMOM is now enhanced......
-
Have fun at the reunion DR GINNY!
-
DR ELMORE I hope your friend Bob wrote his memories down someplace.....condolences.....
-
Larry, I am so sorry to hear about your friend Bob. I send my sympathy and love and hugs

I am sorry for the loss of your funny, kind friend.

Talked to the car place - they found a refurbished engine with basically the same mileage as mine, so they'll do that and fix the other stuff that needs fixing and all for less than they originally told me, so I gave them the go ahead - should be ready in a week.
Congratulations! Vibes you are pleased with the new engine.

DR JANE - I'm not sure if the shoppers are picking for delivery or pickup.....but they certainly get in the way of the regular shoppers trying to get down the aisles.....or they stop to talk to each other and block an aisle completely.....
Blocking the aisle is rude & annoying.

Good news about your motor car, BK
-
Since it rained early this morning I expected the pool to be chilly when I went swimming. I am pleased to have been wrong and I enjoyed my swim very much.
-
I am ready for a nap after too big of a meal.
-
I ordered fries since it wouldn't hurt for me to gain a pound. I hate wasting what I can't eat & Keith only had a few of them. While I didn't come close to finishing them I did eat twice as much as usual ;D
-
I dozed off for a while - checking out the latest Twilight Time releases - The Chairman, a truly odd movie, looks incredible.

My condolences, Larry. :(

I also had to get second engine for my previous car. I wrote about what happened to it on April 22, 2008 (http://www.haineshisway.com/smf/index.php?topic=1727.msg452033#msg452033):
My next car was a used 1989 Subaru Justy. I got it with only 14,099 miles on it and hardly ever changed the oil. ::) I'm surprised that it lasted as long as it did. Of course, the first engine totally died and, with my parents' financial help (yet, again), I bought another engine...not a rebuilt engine, just another engine. It was a great car, while it lasted. It had 4-wheel drive with just the push of a button. It was great in snow and ice. When that finally died, I bought a brand new car. There were only 20 miles on it when I took the test drive. It's a 1998 Ford Escort and I still have that car. It'll be 10 years old this June.** :) I plan to have this car for a while longer, so I've actually been taking very good care of it...for the most part. :)
**It turned 21 this past June! ;D

DR GEORGE I purchased the BANDSTAND Cast Cd and I like it a lot....I am hoping someone around here does a nice production of it.
WEST SIDE STORY vibes for DR CHAS SMITH.
Glad to hear that DR VIXMOM is now enhanced......
I would love to see it live.

Well, I need to be going now. I have to go home and feed myself and my cat, then I'm off to an outdoor movie!
Be back later.

Ushered for the 25th anniversary of the San Antonio Film Festival tonight.
-
It started with guarding the red carpet, where the invited celebs were on display. I had no idea, but San Antonio's own Jackie Earle Haley was there, being nice as can be. He received a legacy award and praised the festival, which is where he had shown his first movies, a short and a feature-length, as a director.
-
My favorite, Cybill Shepherd, was on hand to receive the Marcia Nasatir Award. Nasatir was a San Antonio native and a pioneer for women in Hollywood. A real broad, Shepherd called her.
I only got to say congratulations to her in passing, but she was nice and thanked me. She posed for pictures with everyone. Signed whatever anybody gave her and was genuinely on good behavior. When the awards show started way too late, she also got up and entertained the audience.
-
The movie I ushered was "I Am Patrick Swayze," a talking heads documentary with Sam Elliott, Rob Lowe, Demi Moore, Kelly Lynch, Jennifer Gray and more of his co-stars. Very sweet, if a little long. Afterward, a handful of people from the film (his widow Lisa Niemi, C. Thomas Howell, his agent and his manager) as well as the director of the movie were on hand for a Q&A. It ended 45 minutes past schedule and there was another movie to be screened. I left.
-
The available seats for the matinee of the Rita Rudner musical that RYacko is her co-star in are in the back half of the theater behind the aisle, where even in a 199-seat theater feels far away when I've sat there. Plus there seem to be no discounts for those.
It's at 59E59, where Skip's done s few shows, and it was always so tough ti get back from after evening shows. So not this weekend.
-
I go back on Sunday night for more screenings. Who knows what I'll get to see.
-
I didn't realize that Rita Rudner had done so many Broadway shows before hitting big as a comedian. Looking at the dates she played Lily St Regis in ANNIE on Broadway, I must have seen her. But of course, she wasn't well-known then.

I guess VIVA MAX! is so 2018 film festival. :)
-
From Rita Rudner's TV show in 1990 - Maltby and Shire's "There" from CLOSER THAN EVER, which had opened in 1989, so it was very current

Of course, DR George's "Nick and Nora" number is my favorite Maltby performance.

It sounds like she made a lot of people happy tonight 😊

Finished with my viewing, relaxing, have been resting my voice most of the day, save for lunch conversation, and even though it's warm in the home environment I'm not turning on the air.
-
I did do a two-mile walk to get the Claritin-D, so that's done.
-
Good evening.
-
Hi, NO Guests.
-
Vixmom, I think PIRATES was the first time I saw him, as well. And much as I love you, my dear, I will fight you for him!
-
I did end up having to get my batteries replaced on my scooter. I missed still being under warranty, but Wheelchair Haven replaced them for me for free. I really love the guys that work at Wheelchair Haven. They are the greatest.
-
I picked up my rental car today. It is a new Chevy Malibu, with a huge trunk.
-
The repair shop / and the insurance company think my car will be ready by next Thursday or Friday. It is only about $1,200.00 worth of damage.
-
Well, it is late and I am early...... or something like that.
-
Good night.
