Well, you've read the notes, the notes crossed the threshold, and now it is time for you to post until the crossing cows come home.

TOD:

Angel Face (1952)
The Cardinal (1963)
Bunny Lake is Missing (1965)

I saw Exodus when it was first released and found it quite tedious but when I saw it again on DVD a few years ago I found it really engrossing. I also saw Porgy and Bess on first release and remember very little about it but it would be interesting to actually have the opportunity to see it again.

I hear the sound of snow shovels scraping sidewalks in our neighborhood but we didn't get much snow and if it really gets into the 50s by Monday or Tuesday it will all be gone anyway.

Dinner with friends from out of town tonight.

We have finally begun to watch Duchess of Duke Street (we've had it for months and months on loan from a friend who doesn't need it back any time soon). It's wonderful!

Last night I bought the new bio of Queen Elizabeth the 2nd. It's on my Sony Reader. I also bought the bio of her husband, Prince Philip. It's only my computer and I have to transfer it to my reader. For some reason it didn't transfer to the Reader when I downloaded it, it just appears on the computer. The problem is the wonky Sony software. Whenever I plug in the reader to the computer the sync software starts and then just hangs. I can't do anything (like stop the sync software from starting) so I can't transfer the book. I don't want to read it on the desktop because it's 600 some pages and I don't want to sit in front of the computer to read. I may have to if I don't get this to work correctly.

I guess my Anglophilia (is that a real word?) is kicking in. Duchess of Duke Street, a bio of QEII and Prince Philip. A trip to England would be nice, but that's not going to happen any time soon.

Good morning, all! I slept well, and when the alarm went off at 6:30 I decided I would sleep a little longer. Now that I am moving about, I have plenty plenty of work here, so I'd better get started.

DR Ben, I loved "The Duchess of Duke Street."

DR vixmom, how's the snow situation looking for your trek?

At first I was going to say I didn't know any Otto Preminger films. But from the list above I would say Laura. Haven't seen the others

I don't know why it never turned up in many previous internet searches, but I finally found a CD release of the 1972 Dionne album, her first for WB (and last with B&D leading to that big lawsuit).  It has some fun stuff on it, but it also tends to show the more pretentious, Lost Horizon-esque side of Mr. Bacharach's writing then.  I must say I still love Be Aware, a beautifully heartfelt ballad.

Betsy and I started watching an absolutely fascinating documentary last night that I was sent a screener for (though which I don't have to review, it being a standard DVD and all).  I had never heard of Toynbee Tiles before this, but some of you live in cities with them.  The documentary is kind of a detective story tracking down their history and who placed them at various cities around the world.  Weird and wacky, but really interesting.

Saturday morning greetings!  We did get the ice storm last night and we'll probably stay in all day.  Our newspapers are at the bottom of the driveway, but we've decided we can do without them for the time being.

DR vixmom - From what I can tell, your trip into the City should be OK. Probably just leave a little extra time just in case. Additionally, it looks like your trip back out to Long Island should be fine too since the icy conditions aren't forecasted until much later in the evening.

We're taking the boys to see the MYTHBUSTERS guys live in performance this evening.  If they take questions from the audience, I thought I might bring up the fact that I have a house I can't sell that's well insured and maybe they'd like to re-do their little cannon experiment that made the news a few weeks ago up here.  :)
