Next, I watched a Godard film I had never seen before PIERROT LE FOU. It's a grab bag of seemingly everything Godard could think of to throw into the movie. Simple story surrounded by absurdity, all in the nature of "free cinema" which he so strongly espoused.
I can see why it wasn't a hit in its day. It's certainly an interesting experiment, and Belmondo is his usual gorgeous self. Anna Karina was married to Godard at the time, so naturally the camera lingers on her. She does have a small but lilting singing voice. (Yep, he threw in a couple of musical numbers for her that come in out of nowhere.)
