I know Jennifer is a fan of some reality TV, and of course I was a big AMERICAN IDOL watcher, but this glut of reality television shows is really kind of depressing. Where once one could catch up with shows in reruns over the summer, now reruns are banished for all but a handful of shows and we're given an overabundance of copycat scenarios that really don't capture my fancy at all.

I had to wait until 10 oclock to watch anything on a network (LAW & ORDER). Fortunately, I had MONK on DVD and THE DAMNED to keep my company.

I forgot to mention the mean dog that bit Echo’s ear is a boxer named Tyson.

Then I guess we should be grateful that he didn't rape Echo, too!

DR Jane,

Archie is lying here farting. I think that's his version of good vibes for Echo.

Ahhh.................., isn't Archie your partner's name?

I got my Emmy ballots the other day. ...So do I just consider the few I've seen or do I not vote at all? It's an ethical problem....(Of course, that's why I was sent all those tapes and DVDs. But even if I watched a select few, that's still not fair to the ones I haven't seen.)
Panni, you're a writer.  You know that if a show isn't working right in the first few minutes, it's audience is going to turn the show off, and it usually isn't going to get better.  And part of any documentary is the presentation of it's subject matter, from the git-go.  I'd suggest watching the first few minutes of each, to determine whether or not it's worth your time to continue.

Try not to be jaded, of course, but you know what works and what doesn't, or you wouldn't be the professional that you are.

Just try to stack the rejects neatly, instead of throwing them in a pile.  They take up less room that way.   8)

Interesting weather heare in Rehoboth Beach today.  I'd leave an air-conditioned area, like the store or the car, and the moment I'd step outside my glasses would fog up from the humidity.  I've never had that happen before!

There's something inside me that still finds having actual weather fun, even when the weather isn't "perfect."  That may change when I face my first hurricane...or not.

I have met a few people through online services.  Nothing ever became permanent or even semi-so.  Only saw one of them more than once.

Not sure how I feel about it yet.  It is still a bit new to me.

I'm writing dialogue in a script for someone who is a furniture design consultant - about which I know zip. So I have all these design books and House Beautiful magazines lying around. Sort of interesting, I suppose...

Tom - I'm curious - What book signing were you referring to? Have you written a book/books?

My question is this:

When you record an instrumental album like the Ennio Morriconne album do you mike each instrument separatly in case a musician (god forbid) hits a bad note and therefore can just go back and do an insert with that musician instead of recording the whole orchestra again?

Aside: On the Fistful of Leone track on th same album. What makes or who makes the "wow wow" sounds when it comes to the Good, The Bad and the Ugly theme?

I think the wow sound is an electric guitar, but I'd have to listen to it again.  We do mic all the instruments separately and get as much separtion in the room as we can - sometimes you can punch in the reed section or the brass without having to redo everything, but sometimes there's too much "bleed" in the mics.  We have a lot of control, though.

I'm back, and to prove it, I'm here.  Spent the evening doing something I guess I'll be doing pretty regularly from now on - directing a play (although, I suppose, the rights could fall through - they've been applied for but for some ridiculous reason Jason might be able to shed light on, it takes three weeks to approve).  Tammy Minoff came to me with this play and asked me to direct it, and I read it and said yes.  We've now done two read-throughs with the cast, Tammy and two young men, and it's quite an interesting piece.  I should be able to tell you the theater info by Friday (just waiting for the final okay - it's a very nice space I've been to several times).  If everything works out, we'll preview at the end of July and open the first week of August for four to six weeks, depending on the traffic.

Question: Why do the Tony people still keep popping up at the top of the site home page? They creep me out and the Tony Awards are OVER.

Speaking of Tony, here is a photo of the beautiful Rachel, daughter of Anna, from luncheon at the Daily Grill.

That was funny! I was at another part of the site and came back to the posts, but turned away to say something to Rachel who was behind me. When I turned to face the screen, there she was -- and I SCREAMED. It scared me, man.
Now that I'm over the fright -- she does look very pretty (although she disagrees). Thank you for posting it, bk.
