Well, you've read the notes, the notes were in paperback, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently reading a paperback of Eugene O'Neills A MOOn for the Misbegotten.

Today, I have to get up early (for me...on a Sunday) so that I can go with my sister and niece to Blintzapalooza: It’s more than just blintzes (http://www.theolympian.com/2012/03/21/2038698/its-more-than-just-blintzes.html)!

I've never gone before, but it sounds like fun.

To answer Cillaliz's question from last night: No, I don't know when the House Hunters episode with my friends will air. It was either May or March, but I can't remember. Do you know when the new season will begin?

George, thanks for the link to the British theater archive. There are other productions that look great as well, including Daniel Morrisey as Macbeth.

You still gave it a good rating in spite of the annoyance.  For me it isn't so much rather I figure it out or not, more rather if I think the "reveal" is stupid or not.

DR Jane I think you read a lot of mysteries/thrillers. In those cases (or even when watching a mystery on tv) you have suspects. You think you might have guessed the ending. And often you'll be right.  But this book wasn't like that. It wasn't a reveal where maybe I was right. It was a huge reveal that was to me completely obvious.

But I agree in mysteries I often think about whether I think it is stupid or not.

Good morning, all! The alarm went off at 6:30, but I dozed until 7:30; I was having this weird dream of being in a Spanish restsaurant, drinking sangria, and waiting for a dinner while I was running some sort of credit card scam.

Today is going to be a lazy day, and my goal is to accomplish very little and watch a lot of DVDs. I've got three Netflix films, the last sseason of BONES, a couple of operas and other things, but what I want to watch is the A&E PRIDE AND PREJUDICE and the last version of EMMA. Oh, Jane.

I do have to proof the last two scores of DEAREST ENEMY, Bows and Exit Music, and that shouldn't take me to long to accomplish. Then I can put those scores into their cartons and forget about them until the new edits come in.

More coffee and meds.

Morning all.  Don't know what was wrong with me yesterday.   I was out doing my laundry and then grocery shopping when started feeling funny/strange and couldn't wait to get  home.  I laid down on the couch and next thing I knew it was eight o'clock in the evening.  I just got up and went to bed.  I slept the whole night away.

i'm going to church this morning with Thelma.  I figure I should say a thank you to the Man Upstairs.

Be back later.  :)

Vibes to all who need them!   I'm just sorry the phone still hasn't made it to TCB.  I'll stop by the UPS store on Monday and ask if they can do a track.

We are taking the NY Water Taxi to Ikea in Red Hook Brooklyn. It's a free weekend shuttle that runs every 40 minutes. We are not buying anything, just looking. We will see if what we want looks OK and then order it on-line. The delivery charge at Red Hook Ikea is $100!!! What we want is too big to carry and we don't have the car in the city so it's an on-line purchase. Let the UPS man deliver it. Yes, there will be a shipping charge but not $100.

DR Danise, are you keeping track of your blood sugar levels? My initial thought to your grocery situation is that your blood sugar level dropped and you needed a lemon drop or a chocolate bar ASAP.

DR Ben, while you're there, would you see if Ikea has any bookcases around 8 inches deep and 21-23 inches wide? I don't care about height.

Post by: Ben on March 25, 2012, 07:33:30 AM
Wow, was I wrong about Ikea and on-line purchase shipping charges. If a piece is over 70 pounds there is a minimum $99 shipping charge!!! The delivery price is also based on the price of the item. If it's over $200 you pay $99 for shipping. If the piece is less than 70 pounds and under $200 the minimum delivery charge is $19.15.

I guess they expect people to go there in person with a vehicle.

Larry here is a link to bookcases. They don't seem to have any with 8 inch depth shelves. It looks like they are all 11 inch depth and the width is also more than you want.

The cheap bookcase Laiva comes closest and the Billy bookcase for $49.99 is also close but that's it. Hover your cursor over the pictures and they give you the dimensions for the pieces and click on the picture and it will show you the piece full size.

If I were to be in NY from May 24 through the 26th (leaving on the 27th)  would I get to see any DR's?

Which brings me back to a question I asked & didn't receive a response to, which plays to you recommend?

If you get there early enough on the 24th and Richard and I take a later train to Washington - YES!

If you were going to DC on the 27th I would try to go with you.

If we waited until the 27th, we'd miss DR Jose's MUSIC MAN - our tickets are for the 25th!

If I go my plan was to fly out on the 24th but I shall try to go on the 23rd.  Leaving on the 27th gives me 4 days to fill in before going to Chicago.  I really don't want to be away that long & one of my two good friends outside Philly might not be there. :(

Oh, yes. Mercury retrograde has been quite abundant in my life these days. (Communication includes memory, right?) My cell phone, which NEVER gives me any trouble, began ailing. Not wanting to change phones and stumble through the usual learning curve (I'm a real klutz with cell phones, anyway), I was glad to find a few models just like mine on eBay, and bought one of them. AT&T told me they'd warranty the new phone, even though I didn't buy it from them. We'll see if they actually do so.

Back from a surprisingly fun day.  The paperback fair was filled - I sold a book (unusual), someone brought a copy of Writer's Block for me to sign, and I sat next to an author who seems to have known me, although I had no memory of him - I suspect he was maybe remembering Joel Kimmel, the actor and writer.  But he knew Nudie and we had fun.  His name is David Gerrold and I gather he's quite the Star Trek guy - he wrote the classic episode The Trouble With Tribbles and others.   Grant Geissman was there so after I finished with the signing part we hung out.  I saw several dealer friends and I made a little trade and am now the proud owner of a first edition that's eluded me for decades - Lolita - the original two-volume paperback from Olympia.  This is one of the hardest sets to find in any kind of decent condition and I'd have to say these copies of volume one and two are pretty terrific and probably worth double the trade I did.  So, yay.

DR Danise, are you keeping track of your blood sugar levels? My initial thought to your grocery situation is that your blood sugar level dropped and you needed a lemon drop or a chocolate bar ASAP.
Hate to say it but no, I'm not.  I can't even remember the last time I tested myself.    Bad, I know.

The Vixter and I went to see The Hunger Games  after church today -  we both loved it - the Vixter rated it an 11 out of 10 - I am disinclined to contradict her

I recommend tissues - at one point I was actually sobbing - emotionally  draining and totally satisfying movie experience

I'm sure i can guess the tissue moment. A facebook friend said she was sobbing!  How were the shaky cameras? I am so excited to see this on Tuesday. I guess i can just close my eyes if it bothers me.

Once I start a book i usually finish it in 2-3 days. But some times it takes me a while to start a book. I don't know if i just need to decompress after finishing a book. But sometimes it can take me days and days to pick up the next book i've decided to read.

You read so much I'm surprised by this.  I understand how you feel but it is rare that I do that.  Usually only after reading an exceptional book.  Often, when I'm reading at night I end one book & immediately begin a new book.

I should be reading right now as I have three eBooks from the library & expect another one within the next two days.

Missouri Synod, Vixmom. Staunchly conservative, except for a few of us firebrands.

The paper is on Bob Cole, who wrote the first all-black musical, "A Trip to Coontown" and the song "Under the Bamboo Tree." It's about changing racial perceptions on stage, and some of it was quite revolutionary for its time. But as the last week has shown, some things have changed in this country and others have not. The allegations and verbal garbage flying about in the aftermath of the Trayvon Martin case have made this a lot thornier issue than I had wanted.

OMG, that sounds amazing!!!!!!

The blintzes were VERY good!  You could get two for $5 or three for $7 or you could get 12 frozen for $20.  If you ate the blintzes there, they had sour cream, blueberry or apple toppings.  They also had some bagels ahd cream cheese with or without lox.  I had three with each of the toppings.  My sister and I got there about 10:15 a.m. and the place was packed with a line out the door.

They were also selling used books as an additional fund raiser, but it was too crowded to look around.  I saw a couple of coworkers and friends.  When we left, my sister bought a dozen frozen blintzes and we split them up at her house.  I took four, she took four and the other four are for our parents.  I already ate my additional four blintzes for dinner tonight.  I put them in my fridge when I got home and zapped them in the microwave.  These were actually as good as the fresh ones. :D

Mad Men!

Crap.  Evidently, Comcast's Motorola DVRs can only record up to 24 series. :P I had "Mad Men" as one of my series to record, but it's not there anymore.  I need to decide what to delete so that "Mad Men" can be added back in. :(

"Desperate Housewives" is ending, but not soon enough.  "America's Got Talent" and "The Sing-Off" are seasonal, but I don't want to miss when they start.  I think that I can drop "Falling Skies," the sci-fi show with Noah Wyle.  Thinking about it, I just don't care to find out what happens.

So, yay.

Congrats on the acquisition, BK!

The power went out about ten minutes ago. It came back on in two spurts then went off again. This city is so pathetic. We get the first major rain that we really need and the power goes out! But not across the street to the west. Power is fine there. So, nothing to do until it comes back on which will hopefully be soon. Unbelievable. No heat obviously and it's already getting cold. Hopefully it won't hurt anything with the computer.
