Well, you've read the notes, the notes were discombobulated, and now it is time for you to post until the discombobulated cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: BATTOLOGY!
-
Hoping new dear reader Kate remembers to write an amazon review :)
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
Good morning, all! The jerk above me crashed, banged, stomped about, dragged and dropped object noisily between 10 and 10:45 last night, after I had decided to goto bed around 9:45. So, after listen9ng to this ass for make noise for about 45 minutes, he left the apartment and never returned. Sometime after 11, I fell asleep, I was wide awake by 6:00am, pondering my schedule for today, so I got up.
I will shortly head to Toyland to print a ROBERTA score, since my full score is missing the last two pages of the Lindy Hop. I will rebind my score for Act One and continue the error search. Then, at 12:30, I'm meeting a friend at 85th and Broadway for lunch. That's my day.
Thanks for last night's photos, BK!
More coffee.
-
i'm off to montreal for a week. will finish the book. not talking my laptop. want to relax
-
Since it's Wednesday, I'll settle for that.
-
Good morning, all.
Coffee. And more coffee. Not necessarily in that order.
-
Greetings from Toyland!
-
Or, if you leave off the first "T" for Trouble ..... Oyland!
-
What wonderful photos we had from MR BK yesterday.....
-
I have a guess for the Kritzerland score that MR BK was listening to yesterday.....does one of the main characters mention the hometown of Upper Sandusky, Ohio?
-
I liked seeing all the old photos. My father was a professional photographer so I have loads of photographs. This was taken at Christmas 1952 with family and friends watching 9.5mm films. I'm at the front and my sister is to the left. My older brother is high up at right.
You'll note that I am properly attired in jacket and tie, as people were in those days, even when at home on holiday.
(sorry if this has gone into CinemaScope)

More rehearsal tonight. I have to go early because for some reason or another the Parke Players from a couple of counties over wants to give us 20 light instruments. I have to be there to help unload them and put them away. I am hoping at least half of them are instruments we can use.....
-
DR DOUG R....what a wonderful photograph!

DR DOUG R....what a wonderful photograph!
Thanks Jrand62. Yes, I rather like that one.
-
That's a GREAT photograph!
-
Off to Fort Wayne tomorrow morning...as the Midwest is on a tornado watch.
:-\
Assuming I don't get blown off to the Land of Oz, which I don't think has Internet service, I probably will not be back on the board before next week.
-
Yikes. Good luck on the trip, DR Druxy. And good luck with the play!
-
The first act score has been taken apart, the new Lindy Hop printed, inserted, and rebound. Around two hours from nowe, I'll head back uptown to my lunch meeting. I'm ready for a nap.
DR John G, did you ever look over my notes?
-
DR DRUXY - Indiana awaits you. I think you will like it....even the weather.....and the venue is lovely.
-
I wanted to take a photograph of You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown for the weekly newspaper last night, but there were too many children onstage....the director said he would take a photo and send it to me..... This is the result Cameron as Charlie Brown and Alex as Snoopy. It's a nice picture but he didn't close the traveler and teaser curtains, so we get a nice view of the backstage wall as well.... That sure is BRIGHT paint! And neither of the actors seem too pleased to be there....what's up with that? ;D

Good morning. It's Wednesday, so that must mean the beginning of a new tradition. Donut and lottery ticket Wednesday. I'm ready :)
-
Good morning, all.
Travel vibes for DR Mike.
Great photo, Doug R. What a wonderful feeling it captures.
-
Elmore, you'll have the notes by tomorrow morning. Halfway through.

I should have just waited around and done the photo myself.....oh well.....

Wednesday morning greetings! About 9:45 last night I got a text from my sister that they were taking shelter at their nearby hospital because there were tornado warnings in their part of Michigan (they live in a manufactured home). We texted back and forth until she called at 10:15 to tell me they were home and all was OK. Now, should I tell our mother?
-
Good Morning Everyone and Bk,
I went on Amazon to write the review. I am having problems doing it. (Just like Adriana).
Its says I already have an account. I don't remember , but I will ask my hubby later to assist me.
Then I will do a great review. The Adriana character seems so real to me. Thats why I love her.
-
Its a beautiful day here in West Seneca, NY
-
My question for you Bk is:
What is the best advice you can give me on becoming a good actor.
I also wanted to do some acting. Sometimes I feel I could be good.

It's over. I wouldn't tell her. It's one less thing to worry about/deal with.
-
My "ASK BK" question (or anyone who wishes to answer):
I noticed in your photos last night the very skinny tie you were wearing. I've noticed on various TV shows and award shows that the current male fashion trend is once more "skinny". Skinny ties; skinny lapels. I hate it! How do you feel about it?
-
Time to abandon Toyland until tomorrow! I am not schlepping all this crap back uptown.
-
Skinny ties are okay on skinny guys....otherwise.....no.

I don't like ties in general, but hate the skinny ones. It's funny it's come back but then again, everything old is new again.

The only way to become a better actor is to do it. Whether in class or in theater, just get up and do it. And be fearless.

Re: The score you were listening to yesterday.
1961? Paramount?
Mr. Astaire and Ms. Reynolds?
And a score by "Pappy"?

Re: The score you were listening to yesterday.

As Mr. Sondheim said, "Could be, who knows..."

Ah.....a mystery.....
-
As Mr. Lowery said, "It must be some kind of mystery..."
-
CD ordered!! :)

It was reported to 61 degrees here all morning. Then the overcast cleared and it shot right up to 67. Still nothing to write home about, but it's supposed to get to 80 or higher here today. That can happen if the clouds stay away. Then it's to be in the high 80s or 90 over the next four days.
-
And now you are all duly apprised of the situation.
-
Oh, and I'm up - I think they actually got here at eight-thirty, so maybe I got seven hours of sleep.
-
Ask BK: How did announcing on a holiday Monday affect sales? Or did it affect sales?
-
Ask BK: Will you post a photo of your grandparents? How about photos of the two houses in the Kritzer books, and the grandparents' apartment at the beach?
[EDITED because I apparently can't type today!]
-
hmmmm Frances Farmer's final film THE PARTY CRASHERS is up on YouTube in Three Parts......seems to be pretty good quality, better than the video I used to have.....
-
I don't mind the skinny ties at all, nor ties in general. I think they look very nice....just as long as the humongously wide and ugly ties of the 1970s don't come back. Those were awful!
-
Party Crashers is available on Netflix Steaming as well, JRand.
-
I do not have Netflix....streaming or otherwise.

I m back from a wonderful lunch with a friend I've not seen in nearly 20 years. We had a great time.

DR DOUG R....what a wonderful photograph!
Agreed!!
-
DR JRand, you would love Netflix streaming....sooooo many old B movies that are not on DVD! No place else that I know of where Vera Ralston movies are sitting there just waiting to be viewed!
Seriously though, since you have a Blue Ray player you are already set to stream. Take a gander at this link to see what is available to watch (you can search by actor, director, etc).

It didn't really affect sales.

I have posted photos of the house before, but I'll find and do so again. And I do have a photo of my grandparents so I'll post that.

Big doings this morning. I spent most of the morning going over the new site stuff and the good news is they've begun the migration. We went over the last of the details, they've got the radio show page working and I uploaded a sound file to it and it works perfectly - those who've had annoying experiences with the show before are going to be thrilled how easy it is now - you literally just press play and that's it. So, the main site is perfect save for the interviews, which will be there at some point soon.
The discussion board is also migrating so here's how that will work: We still haven't figured out the calendar event thing, but that's not a biggie and they will continue working on it. We think we've made it so that when you post it will take you right back to where you left off - as George and Vixmom said, the way the updated board went over we had to check that preference under modify profile, look and layout. But we went in and if we did it correctly, that should now automatically be checked for you - if it doesn't work, then just go into modify profile, look and layout and you'll find the box to check - you can also set other preferences there. Otherwise, we've tested it for a week and all seems well. They will be adding the captcha feature next week for new registrations, and there will be the nice thing that if you click on the "haines his way" at the top of the page it will bring you back to the notes - we've never had that before and I like that idea.
The new notes that go up at midnight tonight will be posted to both the new and old versions of HHW, so even though the site may not have propagated fully, the notes will still be there either way - that will probably be the case for the notes posted on Thursday at midnight. By Friday, the migration should be complete. You may have to refresh your browser.
Now, here's the most important part as regards this discussion board. As of midnight tonight do not post on the old board at all. If you do, those posts will a) disappear, and b) cause problems for the migration. How will you know when you can post? As soon as you go to the discussion board and you see the new version. How will you know it's the new version? It looks slightly different - the home page will have your avatar at the top, and there are more discussion boards now, like one for the Hofstetter books and the other books. It's pretty easy to tell - while it has a similar look, it actually is quite streamlined and attractive.
-
Prior to that I did a three-mile jog, and after that I had a patty melt.
-
Wow, things are moving along!
Midnight tonight in which time zone? I'm thinking Pacific, but let's not assume anything. We all know what assume means, right?
-
From DR Vixmom:
Dinner for me was some Havarti cheese melted on three slices of seeded rye bread
Sounds yummy.

Such a very nice family photo. Thank you for sharing it.
I remember when we dressed at home for holidays. It made them more special IMHO.

Oh well, disappointing though it couldn't have been done with more attention to detail.

DR John G thanks for the nice page 2 dance.

It indicates your sister takes warning seriously and will be safe.

That was how Bryan felt when he didn't tell us about getting mugged, that is until he let it slip. I would have preferred hearing sooner. So what if I worry, as a parent I do anyway.

DR George. Support at my library is very nice about responding quickly to my emails. I was told
there is an audiobook copy of "Dog Tags" on the OverDrive site, but no eBook.
I used to confuse the two when putting hold on books. Might you have done that?

No, I searched by title...both versions would show up in the results. When I searched by the author in our OverDrive site (the titles that Timberland specifically had ordered), NOTHING came up for that author.
-
Yes, my midnight, ChasSmith.
-
Migration has officially begun - for most people it will take anywhere from twenty-four to forty-eight hours and you may have to refresh your browser or empty your cache, as your computer may cache the older version of both site and board. But for some people the migration could happen in ten hours or less. Again, don't post on the discussion board after midnight tonight UNTIL you are on the new board. The topic will be there for you to post in.

DR Ginny I wouldn't tell your mom because she is older and doesn't need the stress.
I think in DR Jane's case she should have been told since she would find it eventually.

Migrating.

Only way I might have found out is by asking how he got the scar on his face. Since we have only talked on the phone & not skyped I don't know when I'll notice the scar.

Once again I've enjoyed the page dance.

Oh...I guess I didn't explain it correctly. When I said that I searched the OverDrive site, I meant the site that I, as the Acquisitions Supervisor go to, to actually order the titles from the OverDrive company. It's their database of everything that they offer for sale to libraries...ePub books, downloadable audio books, downloadable movies, etc.
After I order whatever the selectors have selected, it takes a couple of days but those titles show up in OUR (meaning Timberland Library's) OverDrive site, on OUR library's OverDrive webpage.
Clear as mud? ;)
-
LOL, not really. What is important is that OverDrive does not offer the book I want on their universal page vs your local library, or mine, OverDrive ;)
-
Okay, so, come three o'clock in the morning here, I'm just going to have to stop myself from posting.

Good evening!

Okay, so, come three o'clock in the morning here, I'm just going to have to stop myself from posting.
I know. I had better sleep tomorrow and hope I remember not to post until it is safe.
-
Hopefully someone will write DO NOT POST when we are not allowed to post. And people will start telling us when the system changes for them.
-
Looking forward to seeing the new HHW!
-
Me too!
-
Jennifer, it's really simple: After midnight tonight CA time, DO NOT POST. When you come to the discussion board and see the NEW BOARD, THEN you can post. If you see the old board, DO NOT POST. As I've already said (and will reiterate in the notes) the new board does not look like the old board - it's similar, but has a new design, your avatar will appear on the home page of the board and that's all there is to it. For some the migration will happen more quickly than for others - please be patient. We had the same deal when we did the board originally and when we did the update four years ago. It will take the time it takes and then we won't have to ever do it again, hopefully.

I'm putting a post-it on my computer as a reminder. The trick will be to remember on my Nook if I'm bored in the middle of the night ;)
I hope to sleep cuz we have company arriving tomorrow & I have tons to do. I doubt I will even have time to visit in the morning.
-
Hey, it's five and a half hours until midnight so let's get some postin' goin' on since you won't be able to post until the new board migrates.

I just meant that it would be easy to read the posts and forget to not post.
Also, like DR Jane I sometimes check the board on my ereader.

ASK BK
Have you ever considered using any of you Dinah Shore's New Best Friends for any of your cabaret series?

Eastern time, Pacific Time?

BK, after the new day switches over, can you lock tomorrow's day of posts until it's all migrated and done with? Just put your first post saying that it's locked until the migration is over, then people won't be able to accidentally post when they shouldn't.
-
Good idea George.
-
I'm looking forward to the new board tomorrow.
'night
-
Come midnight, we won't be able to post until the cows come home!
-
I am agog with excitement......I haven't migrated since....well since I was one of my ancestors....
-
There's some HOCKEY going on here on my TV tonight....
-
Yes, George, that's exactly what I'll do - there won't be a new topic to post in until the new board is up, hopefully by Friday at the latest, although we have no control over that - that's why I'm glad it was started this evening.
-
Good morning, all!
Well he had to go bury the body
-
And the word of the day is: BATTOLOGY!
I think I took that as an elective in college - the study of Bats, right?
-
I liked seeing all the old photos.

Got some Chinese food for dinner. Have to keep in mind I'm only 1 not 2. There will be a lot of leftovers!

Page 5 - get off my ass and organize the apartment dance

Wednesday morning greetings! About 9:45 last night I got a text from my sister that they were taking shelter at their nearby hospital because there were tornado warnings in their part of Michigan (they live in a manufactured home). We texted back and forth until she called at 10:15 to tell me they were home and all was OK. Now, should I tell our mother?
I think it should slip your mind....

Tonight the Vixter cut out a pattern and the pieces for a skirt - I started a tote back

Dinner tonight is Velveets shells and cheese

Migration tonight! I had better get my hat and walking stick
-
Just talked Donald through how he'll load the radio show and he LOVES it. So much easier - he always had to break up his shows into four separate mp3s and Real Player. The latter doesn't exist anymore on the new site, and he now does the radio show as one mp3 only - that he simply drags and drops into his form and when he saves that page, the show is loaded and for you dear readers, you just go to the radio show page and you'll see a player there and you just click play and listen. No buffering, no herky-jerky listening experience - smooth as silk.
-
Excellent.

I think it's a better name than the Bitch and Stitch club.

Looking forward to the new format.

the Vixter actually referred to that way tonight! Much to the shock of her mother and the amusement of the other members

thought I think she said Stitch and Bitch

:o Language!
;)
-
Well, I'm heading home...finally. :)
Be back later!
-
I shall see ya all on the new board!!!
-
Jennifer, it's really simple: After midnight tonight CA time, DO NOT POST.
I just meant that it would be easy to read the posts and forget to not post.
Also, like DR Jane I sometimes check the board on my ereader.
BK, after the new day switches over, can you lock tomorrow's day of posts until it's all migrated and done with? Just put your first post saying that it's locked until the migration is over, then people won't be able to accidentally post when they shouldn't.
Hey, I was going to say that!
-
I must go and try to finish a certain book in which a certain young lady is missing and another certain young lady is trying to figure out what happened. Although I must confess that I'm not particularly fond of The Music Man. I know...as an Iowan that's probably illegal or something, but it's true
-
Well, we have been taken out of the tornado watch early. That's nice. Lots and lots more rain tonight. We've gone from having one of the driest year on record to one of the wettest years on record. Lots of flooding etc.
-
Watching something pretty amazing, about which more in the notes. It will be really hard to go a day without posting - it's the only downside of doing the switch but let's all reconvene as soon as possible and welcome in the new board with a huge number of postings.

Such a very nice family photo. Thank you for sharing it.
I remember when we dressed at home for holidays. It made them more special IMHO.
Where did you dress the rest of the year?
-
Prior to that I did a three-mile jog, and after that I had a patty melt.
I almost ordered a patty melt today, but at the last minute went for a Tex-Mex Omelet instead.
-
4 "personal effects" boxes left, which may just stay intact for a bit. The bulk is put away in the storage closet. Need to do the kitchen now. Couch and table coming Friday. Need to be ready

Must get ready for work.

I'm old. I just ignore change. Until it overtakes me.
Then I just have no choice, ;D.

Sweet dreams everyone.

Hey, I was going to say that!
Which one? You have three quotes to choose from.
-
Love the pictures, Vixmom!
-
Just watched THE GETAWAY, on Blu-ray, which I had seen only once back in the day. Way back in the day.
-
I must go and try to finish a certain book in which a certain young lady is missing and another certain young lady is trying to figure out what happened. Although I must confess that I'm not particularly fond of The Music Man. I know...as an Iowan that's probably illegal or something, but it's true
I've started the book and have gotten up to chapter 9.
-
Love the pictures, Vixmom!
Yes, very nice. We must keep the pictures coming, especially on the new board.
-
And now my eyes are telling me that this is my last hurrah. Time for sleep.
-

Personally, I love THE MUSIC MAN. Probably because I played Tommy in the Tacoma production. It was my first musical, so I have fond memories.
-
I wonder what everyone will be doing tomorrow. Everyone except BK, that is.
-
I have to go to Home Depot and Lowe's for a few things.
-
And Stew Leonard's, where I will buy a couple of boxes of K-cups.
-
(Not to be confused with my bra size.)
-
Actually, I have a bra. A purple one. It's what the cast gave me, signed, after our production of LITTLE ME about eight years ago.
-
A production I would most like to forget. Except for a few of the leads, who were wonderful. But it was Hell, otherwise.
-
But that got us onto Page 7. Not too shabby.
-

I keep seeing those flooding pictures in Iowa, and I worry about you and your neighbors.

Sadly, no.

THE GETAWAY appears to have a commentary track hosted by Nick Redman, which is always a wonderful discovery.
In this case, it's a "discovery" because the damned disc menus are in KOREAN. I kid you not.
The disc came from Walmart. But they've been coming from Amazon that way, too. Outer case, totally normal. Disc label, totally normal. The film and features all play the way we like them to play, but the danged menus are in Korean, so it's trial and error to find anything.

It is going to be terrible tomorrow. But thank you, Bruce, for doing this for us.
-
Hmm tomorrow is Thursday so I need to be at work in 7 hours
-
or so
-
and actually it is the day all week I do not have to be at church for something
-
I tell a lie, I didn't have to be there Monday either
-
Friday night is our annual Womens dinner with the entertainment provided by the Youth (meaning 6th - 12th graders)
-
This year they needed more talent so the Vixter was tapped to help out
-
She is opening the show with Magic to Do and I singing Billy Joel's And So it Goes... I understand she has some other busness throughout the show as well but I am not privy to it
-
So I wont; be around much on Friday
-
I wonder what everyone will be doing tomorrow. Everyone except BK, that is.
Working, and then the beginning of the second weekend of "Cinder Edna." Of course, after any break, shows can be a little off...but I'm going to have an especially interesting show because I'm going to switch the microphones and give everyone new numbers in the hopes that it'll help resolve the problems that they've been having. I can only hope that it'll help!
-
Well, this is it for me, folks.
See you ... on THE OTHER SIDE!!!!!
-
For those who are reading the book while we're migrating, don't forget to write an amazon review. Finished with my viewing.
-
The Unseemly Button will probably be gone by Friday - for some it will be gone by tomorrow night I should think.
-
alright boys and girls I have GOT to go to bed or I will never get up in 5 hours.................
-
Remember, I'm posting the notes to both old and new sites - the old site will still have the Unseemly Button until everyone is migrated to the new - they don't want me to change anything I'm doing. However, the line about the Unseemly Button will not be on the new site and the two halves will be as one there.
-
See you all post migration --- everyone hold hands and keep together now, we don't want anyone wandering off and getting lost
-
RIP Unseemly Button

It won't be terrible...just quiet.

I went to the Radio Show page, and it was the old page.

Of course, the actors won't have any trouble with new microphones, I'M the one who will have to struggle with the changes.
Pity me.
:D

I like it!

Matthew, the new version of the site just started to migrate this evening - you won't see the new radio show until the migration happens for you - it's going to be different for everyone, time-wise - but starting tomorrow afternoon, refresh your browsers and clear your cache because that's when it will start to hit for some people.
-
I wonder why my eyebrows haven't gone grey
Mine haven't either, and I started going gray when I was in my twenties. Some scientists say that it can be a forewarning to diabetes.
-
Friday night is our annual Womens dinner with the entertainment provided by the Youth (meaning 6th - 12th graders)
Maybe you call them all tomorrow and switch the dinner to tomorrow night. That way you won't notice that we have no HHW.

How can it be different for different people? I thought that once the site is migrated, everyone would have access at the same time. Very strange.

For anyone who is interested...the Amazon listing for the Blu-ray "Director's Definitive Edition" of "At Long Last Love (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CQGLD9S/)" FINALLY has a picture! :D

We were supposed to get together, join hands, and sing a chorus of Kumbaya.

It's always that way - it just happens at different times for different people, but at the end of forty-eight hours it's supposed to be completed for all.
-
Well my work here on this old board is done.
G'night
-
I'm done for the evening. Much stuff was put away. I love progress.
-
Thirty more minutes to post, then we'll see you all on the new board and hopefully sooner than later!
-
I'm watching the season finale of "Psych."
-
Just had to share. :)
-
Well...
-
...since we're so close...
-
GRATUITOUS POST #222!!
;D
I'm going to stop here.

Ten minutes more.
