Good morning, all! I slept quite well last night, although I remember portions of a rather bizarre dream involving my carrying a large bundle of dirty laundry  and setting it down in front of a window of a large department store. I have no memory of anything else about the dream now, but I doubt it has anything to do with airing dirty laundry.

This morning, I have more full scores of DEAREST ENEMY to print out, and that will hopefully finish the First Act. If everything's good, I will proceed to Kinko's with the scores and have them bound so I can ship them tomorrow to Dublin and the Bronx. I've been helping my friend Joseph Rubin with preparation of the Victor Herbert show THE ONLY GIRL, and I've got work on that today as well. And so it goes.

Time for coffee!

Unfortunately the giant pandas Yang Guang and Tian Tian have failed to mate. Apparently the female, Tian Tian, soon got "fed up" with Yang Guang. Maybe Edinburgh Zoo should ask the Chinese for their money back.

I have a dilemna.

Yesterday I went with my sister and niece to the doctor. When i was leaving (in the parking lot of the medical clinic) this older lady (maybe 80ish but not in good health) was trying to park in the spot beside mine.

She was going slow. But clearly did not know how to drive. And she went right into the right bumper.

She was so out of it that she didn't even stop.

It didn't seem like she did any damage. But i went into the clinic and asked her if she knew what she had done. She said no. Then forgot what she said and mentioned that she had looked at her bumper and there was no damage.

I took her license plate, name and phone number.

She mentioned that she was very sick and she was going to her doctor.  She walked very slowly with a cane.

But clearly she should not be driving.  I don't know what is the protocol.I am afraid that she could hurt herself. Although i'm guessing she does not drive (probably an exception to get to her doctor). But this is just speculation. What if she does drive often. I don't know if she was just not doing well that day because of whatever reason she was there for.  But i don't know what to do or even who one would call about such a thing.  But clearly if you cannot even drive into a big parking spot then you should not be driving.

If you have the license plate number, call the police and ask them for advice before giving them the number. They may not want to do anything or they might.

Those of you with iPhones may want to get the handy dandy new FREE Blu-ray.com Movie Database App that went live yesterday.  It is supercool--we tried it on Zach's phone and it works like gangbusters.  You just scan the UPC and it enters the film in your own private database.  That way you can keep track of what's in your collection, or peruse your collection if you're trying to decide what to watch.

I have a friend who's a music director with the same schedule. The only difference: He has to preach tonight, not play at the service.

Thursday morning greetings!

Tonight the church I work for has Maundy Thursday services.  Tomorrow is Passover.  Sunday is Easter.  Is it any wonder I'm confused?
I have a friend who's a music director with the same schedule. The only difference: He has to preach tonight, not play at the service.

Fr. Richard is conducting services tonight, tomorrow night, and Sunday morning, so we're off to Lima for the weekend.  And shortly after we get home, there will be 9 people on our doorstep for Easter dinner.  Fortunately, they're bringing all the food!

It only took two effin' hours of my life to get to Toyland this morning: I got to the subway at 8:30 ands nothing was running as the crowds piled up and it looked as if the crowds had been waiting for some time from the pile up when I arrived. . Finally around 8:45, the first train pulled in, completely packed so no one got on. This meant that there were backed up trains and for the next thirty minutes, until the trains stopped running again, there were about six trains arriving, all packed, and I watched as several fools in the crowd I was waiting amongst tried to find a footspace inside a car. Around 9:15, the trains stopped running again and the crowds continued to pile up. I decided to take the 104 bus to 41st and transfer to the No 7 bus to get to Toyland. Around 9:25 I got onto a 104 bus, ran into my friend Evans Haille and learned that a broken water main near Chambers Street was causing the mess this morning. Because of the traffic situation in the Times Square area perpetrated by Mayor Bloomberg and his moronic henchmen, it took forever to get from 57th to 42nd Street. The No 7 ride took no time at all. So, I've wasted too much time this morning and I have things to accomplish. It's been a really shitty morning.

You don't take a snapshot.  I'm not sure what Zach did--I think he just turned on the camera and we put it over the UPC.  At that point a little green frame appeared automatically and then the title magically appeared in the database.  It was automatic and really cool.

Arnold, it just occurred to me--you need to be running the app with the camera on.  It's not like you take a picture and then try to import that into the app.  I'm wondering if that's what you were trying.  Have the app on with the camera on and just hover over the UPC and it should automatically import the title into your database.

Yeah, there are a few titles I think slipped by me, too. I just go the Randy Graff-Cy Coleman CD a few weeks ago, but there may be three or four of the Trotter CDs and a few of the singers. Now with the list at the end of the book, I can make sure.

Back from errands and whatnot, a sandwich and fries, picking up one package (but another will be there at some point today), and am now approving the Sondheim package to go into the printers.  David Galligan called this morning and LOVED what we'd done with the Bacharach mix, so that's good.  We've switched up the order a bit, and still have to make a decision as regards cutting The Plaids.  It's not their finest hour (they are superb on our Bacharach album doing this medley), but I'll work on it a bit more and see if I can fix some of the egregious out of tune singing - if I can I'd like to try and keep it as it's the only up-tempo number after the Promises number - and it would help break up all those ballads, pretty as they are.  But we're basically done with this one and ALW is this evening.

Grammar question of the day:

I think it depends on how you use it.  If you are speaking of social media as describing the phenomena, you can use "is".  If speaking of all social media in general, use "are".

Unless I am wrong, but I seldom be.

"are." Media is plural of medium.

I think an excellent Wicked cast would be:

Elphaba: Patti LuPone
Glinda: Betty Buckley
Morrible: Madonna
The Wizard: Jeremy Irons

Saw a large fox in the back garden drinking water out of the pond. I've had them visiting before but this was a really large one.

Or you could make it an EVITA revival cast:

Elphaba: Patti LuPone
Glinda: Elaine Paige
Morrible: Madonna
The Wizard: Mandy Patinkin

DR JANE - in the commercial the dog is walking around the house and the lady finally hugs him and pets him.....but I don't remember if it's about floor cleaner or allergy medicine ...  I will keep watching for it again, too....and remember the PRODUCT this time.....or write it down...LOL

Thanks.  I don't remember this one.

Just had an adventure:  on the way back from taking Mom to have an ultrasound, we were stuck in an elevator for about 10 minutes.  Mom didn't mind--she thought it broke up the day.

Your mother is funny.  At least it didn't last long.

I found a report on DR TCB's fb page regarding his condition last night.

"A bit uncomfortable and not quite up for visitors just yet. He looks good (relaxed) and is able to wiggle his toes. He may be going to a rehab floor sometime today"

I'm still waiting for my personal report.

One of Betsy's pet peeves is the incorrect use of a singular verb with the plural "media".  As a former member of the media, she takes it as a personal insult.  ;)

DR Jennifer by any chance did you find out which doctor she is visiting?  I don't know if doctor's there have the authority to do anything if a person shouldn't be driving.  It is also possible she isn't normally so out of it.

It is nice you are taking the extra steps to do something about this if you possibly can.

I actually wish i had done this. If I could have seen which doctor she was seeing i could have informed him/her.

I would think that if she drove a lot that she would have been in other accidents and then the police would know. I just don't know if they would have the time to care right now.  I thought maybe there was some specific group that could do something (like the people who renew licenses for older people).  Hopefully she was just out of it because of her doctor's visit.

When I was still living in my parent's house I tried to convince my father it wasn't safe for my mother to drive drunk.  His response, in denial as always, was that my mother never even got tickets making it safe for her to drive.  Of course he always drove when they were together & I was the one in the car with her while she drove.

My point, she could just be lucky.  That said, there really is a good chance she was a bit out of it from whatever was wrong with her.

Just looked it up - has to do with Public Storage and their selling of insurance.  This was settled early last year, but thanks to ONE class member who filed some motion that was then deemed pointless and subsequently the same class member filed an appeal, the settlement was on hold for eight months until that yahoo was silenced.  I feel said yahoo's name should be made known to all other members of the class action, don't you?

Here's something interesting...Titanic and Survivors - Genuine 1912 Footage (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FC9e5LTaKbI).

And something else, Titanic - 1912 Original Video Footage (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xD9-z6Nw2FM).

I don't think that I've ever seen original footage like that.

Watching "Tanner '88" slowly. An episode a night. No need  to rush, just savor the wonderful fusion of fact and fiction. Tonight's episode has a bunch of real magazine editors talking about the candidates, people like Jackson, Hart, Gore and Babbitt from the Dems, Dole and Bush Sr. for the GOP.

Back from a nightmarish mix - we finished act one because act one was a whopping seventy-six minute and act two, which we'll now do tomorrow night, is eighty-six.  I was warned about how this sounded but nothing could have prepared me for how dreadfully this was recorded - total amateurish crap that we have to beat our heads against the wall to get to sound even passable.  A lot of stuff will be going.
