Well, you've read the notes, the notes came to dinner, and now it is time for you to post until the dining cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: AVUNCULAR!
-
George, did you watch the director's cut already?
-
George, did you watch the director's cut already?
Not yet. I wanted to watch the theatrical version first and since that didn't work, I watched some TV that I had recorded. And with my cold, I can't concentrate too much, so I think I'll watch one of the versions online when I'm feeling more coherent.
-
From last night:
It was very strange.
Yes, it was. Stephen Colbert said that his show was very funny, though. I'll have to take his word for it, though.

Ditto!

Good night, all.
-
Good night, Tom.
-
And good night to all you out there in the darkness.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all.
-
A very early one for me, because I’m going to the car place to have my snow tires put on.
-
Good morning, all!

That new pain killer is very effective, but the additional drug played tricks on my mind. I turned off the lights just after 9:00, slept very soundly, and when I woke from the sounds of the neighbor above me moving about, I thought, she's been out late. I checked the clock: 11:48.
I would have sworn I'd been sleeping longer than that. I also had strange dreams that I cannot now remember.
-
I saw no signs of the ceiling leak yesterday afternoon or evening, so I'm wondering if the plumber was in yesterday morning to take care of it while I was in therapy.
-
I'm hoping tomorrow morning to schlep down to Seventh Avenue and 27th Street. We'll see how I feel.
-
Gabapentin is something I only know from a use prescribed by vets, to calm (or more literally, to “stone”) cats for their appointment. And it does. Poe gets one early in the morning when we’re going in for an exam or bloodwork, and he’s loopy the rest of the day.
-
The doctor told me to begin with one tablet at night and gradually add a second, before going to three a day, the max. I'm not sure I'll ever go that high, but it sure helped last night.
-
And it's time for kitty cleanup.
-
Greetings from the car place.

I'm hoping tomorrow morning to schlep down to Seventh Avenue and 27th Street. We'll see how I feel.
Toyland Country!

Toyland Country!
I wish I were still going to Toyland. I miss that office.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I overslept.
-
I have no plans today. I have some tidy up and some things to go to the basement. After that, who knows?

I am surprised you need to wear boots for that small amount of snow. Is it for traction?
I would not go outside in shoes if there is any snow on the streets. I don't want to kill myself. I walk through parking lots and on the streets. IT would not be very safe even with 3+ cms.
-
Good morning!

T.O.D.
Growing up, I liked Frankie Laine ("Cool Water")...Gogi Grant ("The Wayward Wind")...and, I loved Robert Mitchum's "Thunder Road".
Also, Phil Harris' "The Thing".
-
Back - with the snow tires on. Which only ran me ten bucks (because I’d bought them there), and that’s good. But also, with estimates for future repair work which... how shall we put it?... is less good. Like, way less.
I can think about it tomorrow. Tomorrow is another day.

For traction then. I have shoes that have excellent traction. The only boots I have are for hiking and I don't know that they would be better in the snow than my my old
Mephisto shoes. Whare the boots that you wear?

VIBES FOR NICKY!

Additional vibes for Nicky The Cat.

VIBES FOR NICKY!
Ditto!

Thursday morning greetings! Another day of puttering for me. Richard and I switched our everyday dishes for our Christmas dishes first thing this morning and I'm running the dishwasher for the third time in 12 hours. Seems like we just put those holly dishes away!
-
This afternoon I'm going for the haircut that was supposed to happen the morning we left for Illinois. Tina wrote it in her book for an hour later than we'd agreed by text and I couldn't wait that long before our 6-hour drive. She's going to try not charge me today, but I'm not going to let her do that.
-
VIBES FOR NICKY!
Many more vibes.
-
DR TCB, last night, when you were wondering if I was out with the girls, I was actually in our family room watching the lighting of the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree with Richard.
-
VIBES FOR NICKY!
Ditto!
And from me!
-
Likewise, huge vibes for Nicky from me.

Just received a wonderful Creature perk from BK: a 40-bar handwritten cue, in full score, by Ronald Stein, for the film DEMENTIA 13. The pencil manuscript is a thing of beauty. I should try to scan a sample page. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Not sure what brand they are. I guess with the amount of snow and ice that we get it is just not feasible to wear shoes in the winter. I can't even imagine wearing shoes even if they had good traction. I would take one step and my socks would be soaked. :)

Well, it was not to be. It's one of those weird days when I get:
"Your attachment has failed security checks and cannot be uploaded. Please consult the forum administrator."
It's just a 113 KB jpeg. I've had this happen before and I have no idea how or whether I ever resolved it.
-
I'm up, I'm up - almost eight hours of sleep.
-
In other news, I got asked to substitute for a friend playing a memorial service tomorrow morning. Which I can do.
And then I look at my email to find that a distant cousin’s son has just lost his battle with the brain tumor that made itself known several months back. I didn’t really know him, but I had enjoyed being around him when visiting others in West Virginia.

Yes, a few times, by renaming the file, using different browsers, etc. I can upload other images okay, so there's just something about this one -- which, oddly, I scanned in two sections and stitched together, then shrunk to make it the right size, all of which I've done many times before. I wonder what kind of "security" is being looked at, and how one file triggers the warning and others don't.

Anyhoo, time to get ready to play a show for a preview audience!
-
Back from some matzoh ball soup and picking up some packages - more screeners.
-
Condolences to DR CHAS SMITH.
-
DR ChasSmith, my condolences on the loss in your family.

I have been lethargic all day. If this is going to be the fallout of this new pain killer, I'd prefer to be in pain.
-

Break a leg!
-
Condolences to DR CHAS SMITH. Good vibes for Vicky.
I have a miserable cold, many in the Man Dinner cast have been battling colds. Despite copious doses of Sambucol, Vitamin C, fluids, it's stubbornly there. I stayed in bed today and had a lot of chicken broth. 3 Advils and a Sudafed and I should be ok for tonight.

Or you will be giving a very large tip ;) Speaking of tips.... I only go to the hairdressing once every 2 or 3 months with an occasional bang trip in-between. I read different suggestions of what to tip.
This is directed to everyone, how do you figure your tip?

My email tells me The New Yorkers arrives tomorrow.
-
Can hardly wait.
-
I’m sure it’ll arrive after I leave for the concert.
-
I hope to finish Find Me tomorrow, too. The book is pure passion, the prose equivalent of Take the Moment, one of Richard Rodgers’ most passionate melodies and all about happily ever now. Swoon.

I had to run some errands today, including a visit to the optometrist. I haven't been looking forward to this. I had a pair of computer glasses made recently. I was really looking forward to them after a friend raved about the blue light coating. Big disappointment. I could see no better with the new glasses than with no glasses. Not at all.
-
Topic of the Day: Donna Summer. I had a lot of her records and loved her. :)
-
The optometrist was in a very good mood today and was very nice about it. She changed her Rx by half a diopter, which is quite a bit. We'll see if that fixes it.
I've now had two pair of glasses made there and there has been a problem both times. Back when I was a high minus (extremely near-sighted) getting new glasses was always an ordeal because I was so hard to fit. But I'm only slightly near-sighted now and don't understand why there are still difficulties.
-
I've started looking for a new optometrist. The list of providers covered by my insurance is lengthy, but when you sort by those in my area it's rather sparse. I found someone down the street from my current optometrist with excellent reviews. I'd like to give him a try.
When I lived in Alexandria there was an optical shop nearby who were outstanding. ALL the staff were licensed opticians. Here it's difficult to find knowledgable staff. I've been shocked at how little some of them know. One didn't understand how a progressive lens works. Sigh. I'll keep looking.
-
On Tuesday I had a dental cleaning. My hygienist and I had a chance to chat a bit. She mentioned that she's a patient with UCLA and that she's very unhappy with them. I was very unhappy with them during the 3 years I was a patient there, but her problem is quite different. She went in for a physical. They asked if she had any questions for the doctor and she said yes. When she received the bill she was shocked to find that they'd billed her $420 for the physical and another $400 for a second visit that same day--because she had a question!! I am totally appalled. She inquired and was told that that's how UCLA bills. Plus, her physical was covered by her insurance, but UCLA neglected to factor that in. GAWD!

Unfortunately, none of the political discussions regarding changes to health care mention improving the quality. I suspect that's a real hot button.

Be back later.

Condolences - a week of too many condolences.

I've just been relaxing.
-
I suppose I'll get ready now, and then I shall be on my way to the theater.

I didn't think they would help you see better. I thought they reduced eye strain, redness, and maybe one would sleep better. Did you have any of those improvements?

At our last check ups we noticed charges included for additional discussions with our doctors. Mine I suppose was legit while Keith's was a joke. The charges were no where near that amount & basically covered with our insurance.

A great preview, and preview audience, tonight.
May the rest of the run be like tonight was.
Hey, a guy can ask, can’t he?

DR George, I didn't mean to overlook you! So sorry.
COLD BEGONE QUICKLY VIBES to DR GEORGE!

Early break legs vibes to BK and Chas.

Jane, the blue light coating was in add to a small correction in power and astigmatism. I didn't wear the new glasses long enough to see any benefits, nor would I expect to.

Re tipping:
My hairdresser, Richard, likes to nosh throughout the day, so I bring him donuts and muffins. That's his tip. He prefers it to cash. When someone else gives me a freebee I usually tip them what I would had I paid for the service. For a bang trim maybe a couple dollars.

Back from a very good second preview - lots of laughs - forty or so people in the audience, and the Whiteside I've been waiting for finally showed up tonight in scene two of act one and it was glorious and worked for the rest of the show. Now all we have to do is transfer all that to scene one and we'll have a really good show.

I brought Nicky home today.
-
I am really at a loss what to do..
-
Nicky has been diagnosed with diabetes.
-
His vet wants to start him on insulin immediately.
-
It would require me to test his blood every day.
-
It would, also, mean injecting him with insulin twice a day.
-
I just don’t know if I am physically up to it.
-
If I could walk, or even crawl, it would be a little easier.
-
If after a few days of injects, Nicky decides to hide or stay away from me; I would be stuck.
-
Now that I am living in tooley-Ville, it isn’t like I can call up a friend or relative to help me search for a missing kitty.
-
There is also the increased costs of the insulin and the special diabetic canned food.
-
Break legs to Chas.
~~~Ditto!!~~~
-
My God, Nicky is somewhere between 18 and 22 years of age.
-
Break legs to BK and his cast and crew.
~~~Ditto, Too!!~~~

The vet thinks the pain and crippledness(?) is a result of neuropathy

And she believes it is also causing him to lose his eyesight.
