Hereward is indeed a fine old name of Anglo-Saxon pedigree, belonging most notably to Hereward the Wake who led the last pocket of Anglo-Saxon resistance against William the Conqueror, after that Norman adventurer won the Battle of Hastings in 1066 and was crowned King of England.  Though William finally broke the resistance, he never caught Hereward.  I have no idea why Hereward was called "the Wake".

I got the accordian tonight. Argh! DR George, why didn't you warn me the keyboard was not a keyboard with standard sized keys. I'm not sure I will be able to do much with it in the 3 1/2 weeks we have left before we open.

DR Jane, I loved the pictures of Lithia Park...what memories I have of that place. I used to love going there when I was a kid...they used to have sort of a small zoo there back in the 60s...it is a wonderful park and whenever I come down to Medford my mom and I usually visit it and eat in downtown Ashland.

Der Brucer, It is a very good thing I don't live in your part of the country or else I would now be the proud owner of a new puppy!

They are adorable!!!

DR Jane, somehow I missed your photos today! They are stunning. We don't get autumn leaves here, so it is especially a treat for us desert folk.

I don't see how anybody could teach college without T & A, but that's just me.

Way off-topic, but, has anyone tried the newest web browser FIREFOX?  It supposedly fixes all the security issues that are associated with Interntet Explorer, and believe me, there are multitudes of issues with IE.

WFO-LOL

SWW do you know what the puppies are?
The mother has some Rottweiler and American Pit in her; the father is unknown in heritage.  Do I know what the puppies are?  Yes: they're adorable!  (DR MBarnum got it absolutely right.)

:-\ Well...it's an accordian.  Of course, the keys are gonna be smaller!

What a wonderful anniversary we're having here at haineshisway.com.  And the night is young, which is more than I can say.

Back from dinner with David Wechter.  We had a very good time.

What did you eat for dinner?

I watched two movies this evening:

Ate at the Daily Grill and had a Caesar Salad and a BLT with a side of onion rings.  Yummilicious.

Let's have no WUSSBURGERING on our anniversary.

Where have all the good men gone and where are all the gods (they're here at HHW),
Where's the street-wise Hercules to fight the rising odds (does Pogue know?)
Isn't there a white knight upon a fiery steed?
Late at night I toss and I turn (and I post)
And I dream of what I need. . . .

Just heard my favourite Andy Williams song on the radio - possibly first time for 40 years! Have my own copy of course. "Wonderful World Of The Young". Big hit here but only made it to #99 on Billboard.
Hey! At least it's a post.
Must also mention that I have listened to "A Man Of No Importance" a few times lately.  Lovely score.

I am a bit bleary-eyed this evening.  I really have been staring at the computer screen far too long this day.  But I shall be here all the livelong night because it is our anniversary.

First thing in the morning, I'll be mixing our Writer's Block CD (songs from the musical featured in the book).

Does anyone wish to volunteer for the Unseemly Interview formatting job?

Well, people WUSSBURGERED, I can't believe it.  No posts in over an hour.  I, myself, was doing things that needed doing.
