Good afternoon dear Esteemed BK --

Even though we didn't have a "meal extravaganza" there on this past trip, I thought I should post a picture of one of the all-time, last remaining, and yummiest  of the classic restaurants of old Hollywood........

Yes ---  none other than  MUSSO & FRANK , on Hollywood Blvd., just down the street from the original "Misses Jane's School."

Cason..... you must eat here !!  Adrianna..... you must eat here (but you probably already have).

Wasn't MARATHON MAN where one of the bad guys drilled Dustin Hoffman's teeth as a form of torture? That was one of the most horrifying scenes I've ever seen. Now THAT could give me nightmares. AAGGGHHH!!

You got it!

And the evil dentist gets his in his office in Little Shop.

They have ways of making you pay for your music...

But the person who bought it to use in his promo paid for it!

Too bad the artist will be missing out on some tasty royalties because we weren't able to use his song and had to move on to another.

DR CP,

Are you familiar with "Jack the Ripper - case closed" by Patricia Cornwell?

Cornwell is an idiot.  She based her entire case, without giving her source, on a theory published 30 years ago in JACK THE RIPPER: THE FINAL SOLUTION, and that theory, the source of the film "Murder By Decree," has been dscounted ages ago

I find the Princes in the Tower fascinating, too. I have read a couple books on it.  What are your favorites?

I've never heard of this case!

Criminal case in Oz "The Framed Dingo" was hard to avoid in the media frenzy.

Was this about the lady who claimed that a dingo ate her baby?

The WHITE CITY book that was recommended by DR GINNY more than a year ago is a terrific true crime thriller!

I don't read much in that genre but I really enjoyed that book, especially regarding the history and architecture.

"The Bad Seed".
I remember one reviewer confusing it with Christopher Bond's play "The Sad Beedle"- best remembered now for introdcung German actress Mia Kulpal as Lucy Todd.

Are you serious?  Mia Kulpal?

She didn't have a pleading scene with a co-star named Nollo Con Tenderay, did she?

That's the one RLP.  Meryl's accent caught some flack here - the public seemed unaware that Lindy was in fact from New Zealand.  The accent was a combination of the NZ vowel sounds and country Australian drawl.

The case in some ways was more interesting because of its media manipulation of the public. 180 degree turn about. The media had the Mother guilty at the start and then decided to sell more papers by a swing to sympathy.

DR GINNY,
Are certain Minettes especially popular at your library?

2006 usage stats:

Devil's Feather, 2006 = 127
Fox Evil, 2003 = 27
Disordered Minds, 2004 = 25
The Breaker, 1999 = 15
The Echo, 1997 = 14
The Dark Room, 1996 = 12
Acid Row, 2002 = 10
The Shape of Snakes, 2001 = 5
The Scold's Bridle,1994 = 5
The Sculptress, 1993 = 5
The Ice House, 1992 = 2

It's not uncommon for the most recent to have the highest usage, but it's interesting that the descent in use doesn't reflect publication date directly.  I didn't include the large-type or audio versions.

The Death of Miss Smith hit news reports here too.  I had never heard of Miss Smith.  I suspect that she may never have heard of me either.

What did Miss Smith die of?

Not disclosed, thus far.  She was found in her hotel room and was described as "unresponsive".

She was taken to a Hollywood FL hospital. Cause of death not revealed, last I heard.

No?

Never heard of Rapunzel?

Next someone will be telling us that Rapunzels's father Richard didn't have either a hump or a limp.

Rumpelstiltskin.

I don't know why.

I'm quite certain that Rapunzel would not have existed if her father never had a hump....or a limp.
