Raisins!  What kind of challah is that!

That is the only kind of challah I have ever had.  It was served for Rosh HaShanah.

You usually find it plain.  I bet raisin challah would make tasty toast.

DR JMK does Betsy ever add raisins to her challah?  I never have.

I was hoping your chopped olive sandwich wasn't on challah with raisins.  Now I guess I am the only one who has tasted it that way.

The cafeteria at Griffin Creek Elementary School had burned down the summer before my entrance into 1st grade, so taking our lunch was required. I don't recall what my home packed lunches consisted of, however, it was likely Peanut Butter and jam, Tuna Fish, or egg salad.

This was my lunch box:

When the cafeteria was rebuilt we quickly abandoned the packing of the lunch, although I don't know why. I was not a picky eater so I liked everything that was served...but as I recall, the Beanie Weenies were my favorite as was some vegetable thing which I cannot seem to recall now.

I had that lunchbox too!!  I always ate school lunch, but thought I needed a lunch box, not sure why

No, because the kids don't like them.

When I took my lunch it was always in a paper bag AND I had to bring the bag home, and hopefully the tin foil that was around my sandwich.

Challah with raisins is quite common.  I've had it many a time.

Betsy says, hi, Jane--she was just thinking of you.  :)

LOL DR TCB I didn't doubt, especially since it was served at Rosh Hashanah.  It just isn't the norm & I can't recall ever having it served to me.

A shame they don't like raisins, safer for the dogs that they don't ;)

Well, I need to leave work and feed my friend's cats and bird.  The bird (a parakeet, I think) is kept in her back bathroom, but there's no working light.  If I go when it's dark (which I have), I have a hard time seeing anything.  Today, I actually brought a flashlight...which I won't need.

If I had had to take my paper bag back home I would not have accidentally thrown my glasses in the trash can.   After school we returned to check the trash bin & didn't find the bag.

A couple of times my mom would me a lunch box with a thermos.  But, for some reason, thermoses and I did not get along.  Within 24 hours I would always drop it, or hit it against something and break the damn thermos.

Even to this day, I cannot be trusted with a thermos.  I take my coffee from home every morning.  If I buy a thermos to carry it, I can guarantee that it will be broken within a week.  When I buy a coffee carafe - it will last me for years.

I would somehow many to misplace the tin foil, but I did try to bring home the bag every night.

My old friend, who lives in Sun City (Phoenix) called me Sunday afternoon when I was in the middle of Costco.  I asked him to call me back that evening and to please call before 7:00.  He siad that would be fine because he was home all week and he could call me right at 6.  So for the last three nights I have sat here from 6 to 7 waiting for the phone to ring.

He probably forgot that he said he would call.

Thanks everyone for the thoughts prayers and vibes.  I haven't heard any news today and the family members I've called aren't home.  I guess no news is good news.
