Like Dear Tom in Oz I have never used E-bay. I have seen some pages from E-bay when directed there by other friends but I don't have an account nor do I go to the site. I have enough of my own crap, why do I want to buy other people's crap? ;)
-
Except for my brief appearance in the 1982 classic, Still of the Night, written and directed by Robert Benton and starring Meryl Streep,Roy Scheider, Jessica Tandy and Joe Grifasi, I have never been to an auction. What, you ask, does one have to do with the other. Well, if you saw Still of the Night, then you know that Ms. Streep works in an auction house and part of the film takes place at an auction. It was filmed in a small ballroom at International House on the Columbia University campus in 1981. I was sitting on the aisle at one point and Mr. Scheider was directed to walk up the aisle toward the front of the room. During that sequence my visage was captured on film. Not my finest performance, but my first professional appearance in a major Hollywood motion picture 8)

On that note I needs must get back to work. Although last Saturday, October 20th, was supposed to be our last Saturday, there are rumors that we may have to come in on Saturday, October 27th. There is still much work to be done in the next five days and I'm unsure how it will all be finished. Time will tell.

Hmmm....I have purchased many fine things on EBAY.
I was able to complete my Annette Funicello LP collection.
And I have purchased many fine photographs of Allison Hayes and Frances Farmer.
I guess what I got from EBAY that is most important to me is my friendships with DR JMK and DR MBARNUM both of whom I met while bidding on things on that site.
DR JMK pointed me to this here site....and I dragged DR MBARNUM here sometime later.

Happy birthday to DR Cason!

Good morning, all! I am felling better today than yesterday, but I slept quite badly with an ongoing nightmare about trying to produce a musical for PBS. Oy!
Today, I am indeed back to Toyland: there are several things I need to learn, such as whether or not conductor Max Hirschfeld had a possible space of time during his Broadway career to return to Germany and conduct Spielland, the Berlin adaptation of BABES IN TOYLAND. Yesterday, on eBay I tracked down the 2-volume set of supernatural stories by Fitz-James O'Brien, whose 1859 story "The Wondersmith" was a primary source for the BABES IN TOYLAND libretto. O'Brien was an Irish-American writer who died in the Civil War in 1862, but I was amazed to learn yesterday how much he's been anthologized in horror and macabre collections.
I've been reading Neil Gould's forthcoming biography of Victor Herbert, which is enormous (700+ pages) but I'm running into things I know are inaccurate and that worries me since it colors everything I'm reading. The book is quite well-researched, but some of his undocumented comments, such as that on the size of Herbert's theatre orchestras on Broadway and tour, are so off base. Now, while it's possible that Herbert wanted 50 musicians for NAUGHTY MARIETTA, which was written for Oscar Hammerstein's opera company, I have the documentation that the Broadway orchestras for IT HAPPENED IN NORDLAND (1904) and THE LADY OF THE SLIPPER (1912) had no more than 30 players. According to the press releases for the 1905 second-class tour of BABES IN TOYLAND, the orchestra was around 20 players. Mr Gould claims that Herbert's contracts required 34 musicians for the tours. Well, maybe the first-class ones.

Thanks DR SWW (and DR MattH) for clarifying my TORCHWOOD question. I was trying to figure out why i mis-interpreted DR MattH's post.
I think it was because:
DR MattH wrote:"I think there have been 7 TORCHWOODs which have aired (I could be wrong about that number). Weren't there 13 in the first season?"
To me it just sounded like you were talking about a second season and that you'd viewed the first.
But i guess what you meant was it aired in the UK already and is now airing in the US and you are up to 7/13. I didn't realize that the US also had a time delay (which i guess was where my confusion started).
We are up to 3/13. So i guess we are a month behind you. Here it airs on Fridays on the CBC.

TOD
Not what I won, but what I sold.
To finance my first trip to LA. I sold some of my Broadway playbills and programs.
I sold a touring program from Richard Harris' production of Camelot. By the time I saw it Robert Cucciolo (sp?) was playing Lancelot. I interviewed him for the radio show I was doing at the time.
Now this was years before he was doubg Jeckyl & Hyde on Broadway. I ended up selling it for $175.00!!!
It paid for my rental car and food.

Good morning, fellow Dear Readers. Only one thing on my to-do list this morning, so maybe I can catch up on things around home today.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DR CASON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How is KITTY CALLIE?
-
Good morning!
Looks like the really hot weather is behind us for now. High in the low to mid 70s this week, and decent lows in the morning so we can stay cool and not have to use A/C.
It's overcast this morning, and we're supposed to have rain the next two days. That should be interesting since we're 14 inches below normal for this time of year.
-
Ebay - hmm I've won tons of things.
I think my favorite is a spoon I gave to Rupert Holmes when SWING was published. The story is set at the 1939(or is it 1940 - can't remember) Golden Gate Expo and near the beginning of the book, a woman falls to her death from the top of the Tower of the Sun. Was it suicide, was is murder?
The spoon I won was a souvenir from the Golden Gate Expo with the date on the back of the spoon. It has the Tower of the Sun at the top of the handle and the handle is a woman with long flowing hair who seems to have just jumped off the tower. I thought it was an amazing find.
-
Rain predicted for today here, but right now the sun is shining.
-
CILLALIZ-
How is KITTY CALLIE?
She is doing quite well, thanks for asking. She has to take an additional pill twice a day and it is quite large for her. This morning she had a look of shock and terror as she tried to swallow it. I think it will get better

I spent the morning watching the best special feature in the Criterion/BREATHLESS set.
It's an 80 minute 1994 documentary called Chambre 12 - Hotel De Suède. The filmmaker Claude Ventura spent 9 days traveling to the various locations in BREATHLESS and interviewing as many of the major participants as would talk to him (or who were still alive). Godard hung up on him, but he managed to find plenty of people still around (including Belmondo) who could give him little known facts about making the film. At the end of his stay at the hotel where the famous interiors for the movie were shot, the hotel is demolished, so it's the last record of that location in a movie.
Really a marvelous film in its own right and great to see these locations so many decades after the movie was shot.
-
Today I'll try to get to the two TV shows from last night that I recorded (DEXTER, COLD CASE), but I have to start on the 4th season box set of THE L-WORD, a series I've never seen. I hope I'm not thoroughly confused coming in after the show has been running for three previous years.
-
It is cold in the office today. We have good old fashioned radiators and they have started the boiler yet. You would think with the temp getting down to freezing tonight...
-
I've won 80 items on Ebay, but I can't say that any one of them is any better than any other. They were all things that I wanted and eventually won.
-
I have those Fox horror movies and long to get to them, but I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel (a STARLIGHT EXPRESS reference), and possibly by the weekend, I'll be able to see one of them. I'll probably choose THE LODGER first.
-
I may have to get this BREATHLESS dvd.....I am intrigued by DR MATTH's description of it.
-
She is doing quite well, thanks for asking. She has to take an additional pill twice a day and it is quite large for her. This morning she had a look of shock and terror as she tried to swallow it. I think it will get better

Good Morning! once again...
And I'm back from the gym. :)
-
I need some of DR JOSE gym resolve.
-
And as I was leaving the gym, I started to hear a few "raised voices". Apparently, someone was trying to help someone else with his weight routine, and that person did not want the other person's help. Well, I also go the sense that he did not want him around at all... Especially once they got back home. ;)

And I'm back from the gym. :)
BUT ALONG CAME GYM......

In other news, I "ran" a little over 4 miles on the elliptical and worked up a nice sweat in the process. *I also discovered that my gym's TV system has 45 channels, with a good chunk of those devoted to music videos of different eras and genres. Alas, DR MBarnum, no Bollywood chanel.

DRJOSE - what did John Barrowman have to say in the elevator? And what did you say?
He didn't say anything. And, frankly, I was speechless.

Thankfully, I have room here to have workout equipment so I can do workouts at a set time each morning (well, five times a week) and also use the treadmil whenever I wish. If I had to go to a gym to workout, I never would. Having the equipment here is my incentive.

Heading down now to clean up before going out to lunch with best friend John.

Thankfully, I have room here to have workout equipment so I can do workouts at a set time each morning (well, five times a week) and also use the treadmil whenever I wish. If I had to go to a gym to workout, I never would. Having the equipment here is my incentive.
The funny thing, when I did have some equipment in my apartment, I never really used it that much. Although, I would go for runs in Byrd Park. I even keep a small set of weights here just in case, but most of time they're just gathering dust.
Right now, I like the new gym. When I go, it tends to be almost empty, and there's enough variety of equipment to keep me from getting bored. Most importantly, by going to the gym, it gets me out of the apartment. If I stay in the apartment, I'm just gonna surf the web and watch TV. I guess it also helps that they new gym is just two blocks from my house. And that I'm paying monthly for it, and I really want to get my money's worth out of it.
Plus, dropping a couple more pounds and inches off my frame wouldn't be such a bad thing either. :)
-
:-\
Just got an e-mail from my brother, Jay, who lives in San Diego. The wild fires that are burning out of control there right now are now a mile from his house, and all he "remembered" to take with him when he left for the office this morning was his passport and a set of workout clothes. And right now, it's looking like he won't be let back into his neighborhood come the end of the workday. However, he's "hoping" that his workplace will be evacuated early this afternoon so that he can make a run back to his place to gather up more essentials. Thankfully, with the the way his development is situated, he and his house should be safe from the fires. But, again, if the fires do continue to blaze, then he might not have access to his home for a few days.
:-\
-
And I already have my gym clothes on.
Does that involve spandex? :D

Thank You, and You're Welcome. ;)

Whew! So much to catch up on from the weekend.
I could not attend Jason Graae last evening because I thought our company was staying only through Sunday afternoon - when in fact, they did not leave until this morning. And tonight, Cody the chocolate lab returns for another week’s engagement, so I’m not sure I’ll be able to make it into the city for Jason’s second show. :(
DR Cillaliz, good news about DC Callie! May everything remain on an even keel.
DR George, so very sorry to hear about DC Ebonie. I guess it’s fortunate that she doesn’t appear to be in any pain and that they found the problem early. Hope she won’t have to wear that awful “hood” thing post surgery.

Oh, golly, where to start...some great photos of June Kenney, Allison Hayes, Ken Clark and many others. And if it weren't for Ebay I would never have met DR JRand and would never have been led to this here sight and met so many additional wonderful people!

Monday afternoon greetings! I woke up very dizzy at about 3:30am and slept poorly the rest of the night. Needless to say, I am not at work today. The medication that the doctor prescribed the last time I had this expired almost 2 years ago, so I've called for an appointment - tomorrow at 4:30. Fortunately, the dizziness has subsided - now I just feel like I'm "listing" a bit.

I heard from Mr. Bakalor this morning - he'll either have it transferred to me or pay for it before the deadline (of course, I 've written Mr. Craig Brockman about five times and he hasn't returned any of those e-mails even though I can see he read them).

HAVE YOURSELF A MERRY LITTLE TRICIOUS - that's the title of...
What am I babbling about? :)

Cason-
And Just exactly what is the Birthday boy doing today?
-
Topic of the Day: I have bid on, won, and lost, and outright bought many, many, many, many, many, many, many (that's seven, count 'em, SEVEN manys) things on eBay over the years. I can't tell you what the first thing that I ever bought on eBay was...not because I don't remember what it was and certainly not because I don't smoke.... ;)
-
TOD - My eBay adventures have revolved around trying to acquire accessories to match my Vera Bradley handbags in fabrics that the company has discontinued. Even the VB retailers tell you, when asking about discontinued items, that you have to go to eBay. Now, I've learned to purchase the accessories when I purchase a purse. Fortunately, right now I'm not fond of any of the available fabrics.

I am at work today, but I have been suffering from stomach problems ever since I got up. Do you think we could all be suffering from a.......

-
Thanks to everyone for yesterday's Vibes for Ebonie. :-*
DR George, so very sorry to hear about DC Ebonie. I guess it’s fortunate that she doesn’t appear to be in any pain and that they found the problem early. Hope she won’t have to wear that awful “hood” thing post surgery.
And thank you, Singdaw. Fortunately, it's her paw, so I'm sure that that's all that will have to bandaged up.
-
She is doing quite well, thanks for asking. She has to take an additional pill twice a day and it is quite large for her. This morning she had a look of shock and terror as she tried to swallow it. I think it will get better
I'm supposed to give Ebonie 3/4 of an antibiotic pill twice a day and I thought (hoped) that I wouldn't have to actually stick the pill down her throat, myself. I tried crushing it and putting it in her canned food, but she wouldn't eat it. :P So earlier this morning, I was able to get over my apprehension about shoving the pill down her throat and very gently (for the most part) did it. :)
-
Cason-
And Just exactly what is the Birthday boy doing today?
Actually, I don't have any formalized plans...
I think - given the past couple of weeks - I had put off making any big plans and now I'm gotten to the point where it's too late to get any sort of big get-together. However, I'm thinking that this is a birthday to just quietly celebrate - see as many friends as I can throughout the day. Unless someone has some huge sort of surprise party planned - but knowing some of my friends...I doubt it. ;)
Boy, at 22, I'm already having the "quiet, reflective" birthday...
-
And now...it's time for work. Have a good day, all! ;D
-
Can't you cut the pill in half or grind it up into a powder? Poor Kitty Callie. Good Health Vibes to Callie Cat.
No, it's a gel cap filled with some sort of oil. If I put it on her food she won't eat it but Boo might. It will be fine once she gets used to it.

Good Afternoon!
Well... One "side effect" of getting up "early" is that I tend to get all my busy-work done in the morning now, leaving me with the proverbial lazy afternoon. So... I think I'm going to be lazy along the UWS and maybe even in Macy's today. :)

thanks for asking. i guess this will continue to get worse before it gets better-hope i'm wrong. i figured out the bandage on my upper arm, around the splint, was cutting off my circulatin. loosening it helped.
last night was a bit rough until sherlock curled up next to me. i then rolled into him and found his body made a nice soft pillow for my arm and i finally fell asleep.

Cason is 22? Oh no, I just checked my old passport - my stunt, I mean stint, in Paris ended in 1983.
Uh oh, does that mean the residuals from Cason's inevitable TV career won't be there to support me in my old age. :(

Don't you hate it when that happens??
;)
-
That's not the support I am needing here in My Old Age.
-
My best advice is to be calm about it, speak calmly, praise her after you're done and give her her favorite treat.
I did try to be calm and speak calmly to her. I'd never done this before and I was afraid I'd poke her or choke her or something like that. :-\ She seemed fine afterwards. :)
-
Cason is 22? Oh no, I just checked my old passport - my stunt, I mean stint, in Paris ended in 1983.
He who doth protest too much ... tsk, tsk -- it's the page you tore out of your old passport and sent along with the love sonnet/ode -- the one you wrote out on the little napkin at our favorite cafe on the Avenue Marceau -- a souvenir from that weekend when you flew in to meet me in 1985 .... (evidence, baby, evidence!!) SO it'd better be gold in that snow globe!
-
I guess what I got from EBAY that is most important to me is my friendships with DR JMK and DR MBARNUM both of whom I met while bidding on things on that site.
DR JMK pointed me to this here site....and I dragged DR MBARNUM here sometime later.
What a nice story!
-
DR Kerry – glad your family visit went well and that you’re still alive.
DR JoseSPiano – sorry your family visit was so short.
Thanks, DR Edisaurus, for the photos of cats-on-porch! ;D You also have my sympathy on your COMCAST woes – truly reprehensible. And also thanks for your continued James Ivory reportage!
DR DakotaCelt - ***family & coping vibes*** to you!
DR Tomovz, the boronia is stunning! :) And so happy for you – finding family is a GOOD thing!
***FEEL BETTER VIBES*** to bk and DRs elmore3003, Jane, and all else ailin’
DR Jane, sorry to hear about DS Bryan’s application.
DR dB – thanks for the ghoul party link
bk – sorry to hear about the Goldsmith tribute fiasco. Hoping that Mrs. G. accepts your letter of explanation. CHINCY BASSAS!
DITTO!! Whew, thanks DR RingADingDing :-* -- you are an E and T's best friend with your recaps (i.e, minutes of the proceedings here at HHW)...I nominate you as the HHW recording secretary (unless I missed that post and you've already been elected)!
-
What a nice story!
Really! Who would've thought we'd have EBay to thank for some of our favorite HHWers!
Which could be a TOD -- How did you come to be at this here site?
You have DR ELmo to thank (or give a black eye to) for me (who I met through DRBB -- Dear Reader Birthday Boy -- who met DR ELmo through Grand Pooh-Pah bk, thanks to The Brain From Planet X last December). DR Elmo threatened me until I joined up here at HHW (true story!).

george, some people never managed the task of pill giving, good going!

I'm seeing Young Frankenstein tomorrow evening.
Next Tuesday I'm seeing The Farnsworth Invention. It's a new play by Aaron Sorkin (West Wing and A Few Good Men). It's about the battle for the patent for the invention of the television set and the race between Philo T. Farnsworth, a young genius who came up with the idea as a high school student, against David Sarnoff, the head of the Radio Corporation of America (RCA) to win the patent.
The Tuesday after that I'm seeing Cymbeline at the Vivian Beaumont Theatre at Lincoln Center. It stars Michael Cerveris, John Cullum, John Pankow, Martha Plimpton and Phylicia Rashad and is directed by Mark Lamos.
The Wednesday after that I'm seeing Disney's Little Mermaid.
-
And a very happy birthday to DR Cason! Hope this next year brings you all the best!!

If some of you (and by that, I mean you, Elmore ;) ) are pretending not to be old enough to remember the Theme to Saturday Night at the Movies, you're not fooling me (a 110 in the Shade reference). Can someone help me? It's either that or the CBS Thursday Night Movie, but I'm thinking it's NBC's.
-
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR BOO-KEY!!!!!
AND MANY MORE!!
YOU'RE A KEEPER!!
-
Happy Birthday to DR CASON!

TOD:
I've never purchased/won anything on eBay. But I do enjoy collecting, so it's best that I not get started!
-
Re JOSE and the GYM,
Has anyone else noticed that that naughty boy introduced HOW MANY of us to these sinful, to-die-for desserts and NOW HE'S going to the gym to work off some of it? :)
Is that FAIR, I ask you??
-
Please pass the monkey cake.

Re: giving pills to cats. The sort of experience you're not likely to forget. I think Cillaliz's advice is good: use a soothing tone of voice and follow up with a treat.
-
Also, one of my cats used to enjoy some stuff that was supposed to help with hairballs. She's lick it off my fingers--really loved the stuff. It was almost a gel and I could envelope the pill in it.
-
Lunch ran late, so I didn't have quite as much time as usual on a Monday afternoon. Managed to see some things, but had to stop the last show in midstream. Will finish wading through it later this evening.
-
I think it is NBC as well, DR JMK.

A HAPPY BIRTHDAY HUG FOR CASON - HHW'S FAVORITE LOVE-CHILD

I began by finishing up the documentary on the DAWN OF SOUND. The later portions I knew, so it's the first half that contained all the footage that I hadn't seen before.
I have to say seeing that footage of Mary Pickford in COQUETTE (I watched the entire movie off TCM several months ago for the first time) that the Oscars haven't just recently been a joke. Going back to her award for this wretched performance is proof positive that a lot more than talent has ALWAYS been a part of Oscar selections.
I remember reading that Pickford invited the entire board of governors of the Academy (who used to determine the winners in the early days) up to Pickfair for lunch in her campaign to win that award. It worked.
-
Next, I watched last night's DEXTER. Excellent episode as always, and I like how the noose is creeping ever-tighter around Dexter's neck. We knew he's eventually going to escape, but how?
-
Next I sped through today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. No gay characters, and they don't appear to be on tomorrow either though Luke's parents do seem to be on.
-
I finished the afternoion watching the first 20 minutes of last night's COLD CASE. A con woman is found shot in an alley and she lingers for years in a vegatative state until she dies. But who shot her? Only just starting now to get the list of suspects initially interviewed.
-
i tied my shoelaces all by myself! :) I'm so proud. i hope i can do it again after my appointment today.
I'm off. they said i won't need Keith to drive me home so I'm leaving him here working on leaf pickup.

Back from my interview and awaiting Kevin Earley to rehearse.

Because I watched that documentary on the BREATHLESS set this morning, I didn't have time to clean the dining room, so I'm heading downstairs now to do that.

A friend of mine that I saw on a Saturday Night (a Sondheim reference ;)) who went to vet school (but now she's a stay-at-home mom and LOVES it) said to use tuna juice. :P I think I'll continue to try shoving it down her throat. :) (I don't like tuna and will avoid it, if I can.)

Good Afternoon!
After taking the 1 train down to 116th and then walking down to 84th and then grabbing a quick bite to eat, I decided/realized that I was basically wandering aimlessly, so I headed back uptown. However, a friend of mine happens to be in town today, and we may be heading to Splash tonight, We shall see.

And as for me and the gym, well... Let's just say that Enabling is hard work, and requires a fit body and mind to be done correctly.

I just read that CBS has canceled VIVA LAUGHLIN after two episodes. THE AMAZING RACE returns in two weeks. A CSI rerun wil be shown in the time slot next Sunday.
I bought the region-2 PAL DVD to the original British series "Blackpool + Viva Blackpool (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Blackpool-Viva-Disc-Set/dp/B000NTPGSE/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/202-9760930-4631833?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1193091550&sr=8-1)," mainly because it has the current Doctor Who, David Tennant in the cast (although he's not the lead). Because of rehearsals, I haven't been able to watch it yet...now, I won't be able to compare the two different versions.
-
DR Jane - Congrats! Remember - the rabbit goes 'round the tree and into the hole.

Plus, dropping a couple more pounds and inches off my frame wouldn't be such a bad thing either. :)
It would be to your parents.

I have many photos from escapades over the weekend to post, once I have time to get them out of my camera. But in the meantime, here's one for you all:

And Just exactly what is the Birthday boy doing today?
Playing with his yoyo.
-
Finished rehearsal with Mr. Earley - that guy can SING!
Had a good meeting with my stage manager and I think that does it for today.
-
OOOHH!!
I just checked my phone, and there was a voicemail from DR singdaw. He was on his way into Manhattan to catch Jason Graae's show at Birdland tonight. And he had an extra ticket. And the show started at 7:00. :( Ah, well.
Thanks for thinking of me, DR singdaw.

Lucky you're a girl and don't have to cope with neckties.

lol td, i never could tie my laces like that.

Good news, I’m not wearing a cast. The doctor mentioned the main disadvantage of a cast, u can’t take it off to shower. My biggest complaint, u can’t take it off 2 scratch :D
He then gave me 2 choices, leave on my current splint that immobilized my arm and elbow or go to a smaller, more comfortable splint. The disadvantage of the smaller splint is that it doesn’t immobilize my arm, permitting movement which is more painful. Since he knew I wasn’t pleased with the larger splint and I thought the pain trade-off would be ok, he tested the smaller one, and I did prefer it.
It is worth the pain trade-off, which isn’t really a big difference if I don’t move the wrong way. It actually feels better where the 2nd break, or crack as he called it, is. I have the old splint if I want to use it.
-

In the world of orthopedics this is a very minor problem. So, while I’m not a happy camper I know how lucky I am. He also said this was definitely due to trauma and not my osteoporosis :D :D more good news.
I return on nov 2nd for x-rays and 2 make sure it isn’t worse. In the meantime I’m not to use my wrist , keep it elevated above my heart, AND don’t fall or traumatize it in anyway, oh my.
The doctor was very nice, even if I spent more time filling out forms than I did with him.

Trickles of work: today an emergency job for City Center Encores!, about two days' worth. I also set up the holiday contract with the Portland Symphony for David's music, so it's been a rather good day.

PILL SWALLOWING VIBES FOR DC CALLIE
Thanks Jane. It went better tonight, but it still freaks her out a bit
-
i bet. i hate big pills. if she doesn't adjust can they be special ordered in 2 smaller doses? i have been able to do that in the past with pet meds, sometimes thru a regular pharmacy vs the vet.
GOOD LUCK and CONTINUED VIBES for sweet Callie!
-
I've been having a craving for tuna sandwiches, so that's what I had for dinner - two sandwiches on bagels. Quite yummilicious.
-
DR elmore, NICE good day news. i don't suppose they will send u to portland for the concert :o
-
that was batting eyelashes, not a shocked expression.
-
Just had a nice conversation with Cindy Williams, who was not so happy with Saturday night's event. She told me she yelled at them a few times for the amount of endless copy they'd handed her and the fact that they expected her to carry the entire evening on her shoulders. She'll never do it again, that's for sure. And had she known they'd stopped communicating with me instead of letting me do what they'd asked me to do, i.e. put on a SHOW and have a smooth evening, she would have bowed out.
She'll be hosting our event, but she knows that a) I'll write her a fun intro, and b) she won't have to be onstage for more than two minutes.
-
Medicating pets: You can ask for a prescription to be taken to a pharmacy that can add a flavor to a liquid drug.
-
Cal is on 2 of the big pills a day right now, but they will be cut back to once a day and then every other day if everything comes out all right ;)
-
DWS....OH MY!!! There was quite an expected event early on.
-
george, aside from making your hands stink, i would think the juice would make them too slippery to hold the pill. ;D
I wondered about that, but I was thinking of crushing the pill and hoping that the stench of the tuna juice would overpower any smell from the pill...which does have an unpleasant odor. :P
-

I prefer knowing a pills has been swallowed. it's frustrating when they don't eat all the food the pill was in.
having said tat, make sure ebonie doesn't spit the pill out when u aren't looking.;D

Well, obviously, Mr. Burnham has picked the wrong Portland!

~~~Continued Wrist Vibes for Jane!!~~~
-
George, did you make an appointment for the surgery?
Not yet...now I'm wondering if I should get a second opinion. When the vet cleaned out the claw on Saturday, it looked a LOT better than it had been. Now, two days later, it still looks pretty good. It doesn't seem to have gotten worse, again. How does the vet know that it was a tumor and not just an infection?? Should I get a second opinion?? :-\
-
yes, and possibly a biopsy.
-
Just called a freind of mine in San Diego, so far she is safe but some of the properties her company manages could be in danger.
In her case, it would have to jump 8 lanes of traffic to affect her home.
-
Well, a second vet appointment would definately be cheaper than surgery. Do you know a second vet to take her? I have a friend who is a vet in Tacoma. I would trust Mike to tell you the truth.
-
Yes.
-
In the meantime, I have to go to rehearsal now, so I'm off. I'll look again more closely at her paw tonight when I get home and give her the pill. Tomorrow, I'll talk to a couple of people here at work and just get some more opinions.
-
My parents have gone to a different vet. I'll ask them who it was.
Until later!
-
Well, obviously, Mr. Burnham has picked the wrong Portland!
More like the wrong Portland picked Mr Burnham.
-
if u do, ask if u should wait until the infection is cleared up. u could also ask your vet to do a biopsy before deciding on surgery. it is possible your vet thinks it is cancer and u shouldn't wait. what did the vet say at the time? i expect u went into a bit of shock yourself and didn't absorb it all.
I'm half-way through watching RATATOUILLE, and enjoying it tremendously. . .now that I've gotten over the fact that a rat is the leading character.
DANCING WITH THE STARS. MONDAY NIGHT SPOILERS.
*
*
*
Okay Marie Osmond just scared the heck out of me (she fainted while talking to the judges after her dance). On live tv.
I think the judges were very hard on Helio. Ridiculously so IMO. I thought they had a lot of chemistry. And i thought her choreography was the best of the night.
I thought kym's choreography (with mark cuban) was really creative and cute too!
-
Evening greetings to all. Happy birthday wishes to DR Cason.
-
Perhaps Noel has slipped back into the ether.
-
I'm zonked - have watched one motion picture on DVD, and am trying to get interested to watch another.
-
Next, I watched last night's DEXTER. Excellent episode as always, and I like how the noose is creeping ever-tighter around Dexter's neck. We knew he's eventually going to escape, but how?
I am in the midst of watching the first season of Dexter. I downloaded the season onto my iPod since I don't have Showtime- it's soooo good!
-
Pill swallowing vibes for DC Callie.
-
Splint vibes to DR Jane.
-
I began my evening of viewing by finishing COLD CASE that I had started in the afternoon. Not a great case this week but enjoyable.
-
Vibes to DC Ebonie.
-
I am in the midst of watching the first season of Dexter. I downloaded the season onto my iPod since I don't have Showtime- it's soooo good!
The first season is classic. Truly, by the last few episodes, you WILL be on the edge of your seat.
Season 2 is also marvelous so far.
-
And vibes to everyone else who I've missed who needs them.
-
Thanks TPunk!
-
Next I watched two episodes of THE L-WORD - 4th season. Since I've never seen a single episode of this lesbian-themed show, I was afraid maybe I wouldn't be able to quickly get into the relationships between characters. After two episodes, it doesn't appear that this is going to be a problem.
Cybill Shepard joined the cast in episode 2.
-
I have spent a happy and relaxed evening at home catching up on my tv shows from the past month. This is my first free night at home in a very long time.
-
I loved CHUCK tonight. Exciting, funny, endearing. What a great way to start Monday night with this likable, amusing people.
-
My new kitten Pierre appears to have reached an age where he is having certain feelings and urges. He has begun to express these toward Killbot who is not at all pleased. I will be scheduling his procedure for as soon as is humanly or felinely possible.
-
HEROES certainly held my attention, but because we've got some new heroes, they're just learning about their powers, and we went through all that last season. I wanted more from the established characters.
Glad to see Peter is gradually learning more about his abilities, and the Nathan and Matt story was fun tonight.
-
And I really liked JOURNEYMAN tonight, too. I wish more people were discovering this show. The stories in the past can be very moving like tonight's was.
-
How old is Pierre? I think that after 6-7 months it's ok, but I may be wrong about that.
How old is Pierre? I think that after 6-7 months it's ok, but I may be wrong about that.
I'll have to double check but I think he's about 5 months. I was told 5-7 months is a good age. For now I'm just keeping him away from my friend's 6 month old female kittens.
-
Turning in a little earlier than usual tonight.
Good night!
-
Good to see you DR TPunk.
-
I'll have to double check but I think he's about 5 months. I was told 5-7 months is a good age. For now I'm just keeping him away from my friend's 6 month old female kittens.
From what I read they are saying it's ok for younger kittens now. I would ask the vet. Did you get him from a shelter? They sometimes have coupons for discounts for rescue animals
-
Here's a link to check out, TPunk http://www.marvistavet.com/html/body_neutering_the_male_cat.html
Thanks Cillaliz. I've definitely always wanted to neuter him and haven't been overly worried about side effects, but it's good to get confirmation about all the benefits. I am actually hoping that it slows him down a little bit- I've never had such a hyper kitten!
-
My new kitten Pierre .........
When do we get to see a pic of new kitten Pierre??!!
And, by the way, glad to see you back TPUnk!!
-
Would love to stay and chat, but it appears that I will have to go to Omaha in the morning for a 9:00 AM hearing, which means I need to leave here at 7:00 AM, so I must get some sleep.
Night all. TPunk...don't be a stranger!
-
Hi Tom!
-
Thanks Cillaliz. I've definitely always wanted to neuter him and haven't been overly worried about side effects, but it's good to get confirmation about all the benefits. I am actually hoping that it slows him down a little bit- I've never had such a hyper kitten!
Oy! Boo is the most hyper kitten I've ever had. She's still got loads of energy and she's a 2 year old!
-
Great to see you, TPunk!
-
I adopted Pierre from a shelter program. Fortunately the neutering was covered in the adoption fee. They have a vet that they work with who gives them a reduced fee. I just need to call to set it up.
-
Hi FJL!
-
When we fostered for rescue groups, they neutered them at two pounds, or about two months, as I recall, before they went up for adoption.
-
I'm listening yet again to Carly Simon's "Into White. It is one of my favourites.
-
I was completely charmed by RATATOUILLE.
And now I must hie myself to bed.
-
Where in tarnation IS everyone?
-
AOL is completely screwed up - has been disconnecting all day - well, I suppose it could be Time Warner, but I have no such problems with Safari. I now cannot get AOL to connect with a full connection - it connects, but you can't go to websites. It's just so screwed up. I now have to play this stupid game and restart the computer and then voila everything will work again as if by magic.
Will we never get to page eleven?
I'm concerned about Ye Olde Laptop, even though I replaced the hard drive last year. It's making all sorts of "thinking" noises and has been for two weeks. This is one of the quietest computers ever, and it's never done it before. I do have everything backed up on a bootable mini-hard drive, but there is no reason or excuse this should be happening a year after a new hard drive was installed.
Well, BK, Noel may have slipped into the ether, but you haven't and I'll bet you watched Saturday Night at the Movies once or twice in the 60s. Is that the theme I posted? Inquiring minds want to know, and Lord knows you have about the most encyclopedic knowledge of arcane music I've come in contact with.
Dozens of motorists gathered on an Interstate 15 overpass in San Diego to watch flames race up a hillside and engulf at least a half-dozen homes. Witnesses said they watched flames jump west over the 10-lane freeway.
JMK, the music seemed familiar, but I just don't remember that theme - Nikki, I remember. The Late, Late Show I remember.
This WUSSBURGERING is most unseemly and it's been getting worse and worse. In fact, I'd say this sort of low October has been a recurring thing each and every year.
