After he left, I watched MISS POTTER, the biographical movie about the life of author Beatrix Potter. It was a huge hit in England but sank like a stone here.

If you liked FINDING NEVERLAND, you'll like this film very much. In much the same light style of narrative (this was directed by the man who did BABE), MISS POTTER is a lovely, quiet picture.

Oh, the transfer is lovely. Maybe not as sharp as other films, but it's certainly a pleasure to watch, and the sound is just perfect for the presentation.

My friend John had the afternoon off, so he came in and wanted to see PLANET EARTH that he's heard me raving about. We watched the "Mountains" episode (#2). He was so impressed that he wanted to rush out and buy the standard definition set. I begged him to hold off and wait until he could buy a high def player so he could see the series the way it was meant to be seen. (He has an HDTV - 52" - but is waiting for the right time to suggest to his wife that they need an HD player).

There's NO TIME like the present!

Maybe he should bring his wife over and you could show her "Shallow Seas" to seal the deal!

I know I was blown away when I watched it Friday e'en.

It was almost TOO gorgeous...TOO real....TOO clear....my breath was constantly being taken away.

And that reminds me:  I watched "Finding Nemo" yesterday, too.

AWESOME, DUDE!

Good Afternoon!

Well... We were done at 4:00, and I'm not back at my apartment.  And I believe I'll be embarking on my workout sometime sooner than later.

*And I asked the choreographer about some stretches, and, WOW, she showed me a stretch for my obliques that's actually quite simple, but, WOW!, does it really do the job!  -Who knew obliques needed stretching out?!?!?  She also showed me a great stretch for my lower back too.

Thanks, MATTH. I enjoyed FINDING NEVERLAND and will most definitely check out MISS POTTER! Always happy to find a new favorite!

Believe me, I'm constantly pushing, pushing, pushing toward ever-expanding home theaters for my friends. But I already know what she'll say: "Well, yes, it looks really nice, but what we have is fine."

Maybe you should find her favorite movie that's available in HiDef with her favorite hunky movie star. That might change her mind!

I told him I'd unhook my Blu-ray player and take it to his house and hook it up into their system if he thought it would do any good. He's still mulling that.

I'd be curious to see what it looks like on his equipment, too. He has an HDMI port that just going to waste!

Count me in as an Alan Price fan.

And of his work in the musical "Andy Capp" too.

Count me out with Potter. (I'm not a fan of the actress who "mugs" too much).

Did anyone here ever see a British movie entitled "Time After Time" (not to be confused with the H.G. Wells Malcolm McDowell tale) starring John Gielgud who had three sisters named April, May and Baby June?

Maltin gives it a good rating and says it's great fun.

I haven't seen the film and NetFlix doesn't have it.  If you watch it please post your opinion.

I enjoyed FINDING NEVERLAND, Keith wasn't thrilled.  I suppose that is why I'm looking forward to MISS POTTER & he isn't interested.

BK, great news about the new CD and book!  You might also talk to your local librarians about the book.  I'm sure that they'd love to hear about a new young adult book (potential series) with a strong girl protagonist!  I'm going to tell the selector here about it. :D

Topic of the Day (for now):

movies:
Just about anything from "Singing In the Rain"
"Do Re Mi" from "The Sound of Music"
"Me Ol' Bamboo" from "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang"

theater (I've only seen these on TV):
"We'll Take A Glass Together" from Grand Hotel (I LOVED this when I saw it on the Tony Awards®)
"Forget About the Boy" from Thoroughly Modern Millie

I have to laugh!  That ultra rare Beatles White Album that is up for bid on eBay is currently going for $16,000 and the reserve is not yet met!  How much do they expect to get for it?

It's going for more than that NOW!

Awwww...the post house folks where we work just brought us presents. They gave me a gift certificate to an upscale spa  (never been to one!) near our new house and the guys got nice sets of Bocce balls. (Sometimes they play out back as a break from work.)

Now I get to go to the laundromat, do 8 loads of laundry (DH is starting it right now) and get back home in time for the season premiere!

Well, maybe Keith would prefer a more honest picture of the James M Barrie/Lost Boys account.  This BBC series is based on the book that started the whole shebang, JAMES M. BARRIE AND THE LOST BOYS.

Bruce, I bet the Vixter will like the new book.

I was waiting for you to show us the cover.  I thought that was coming today.  I have no idea why I thought that.

Andria Hofstetter has a nice ring to it.

I'm certain that copy No. 000006 doesn't sound any better or different from copy No. 998956!

For the bidding price, I'd have thought the Beatles autographed it or something.

So...this was the "chauffeur's" copy.  Wow.
