Well, you've read the notes, the notes were towering and on fire, and now it is time for you to post until the towering and on fire cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: CONTRANYM!
-
And now - Dino at the piano.
-
First post after BK.
-
Topic of the Day:
Airplane
Airport
The Andromeda Strain
The Big Bus
The China Syndrome
The Poseidon Adventure
The Towering Inferno

Today, my scene partner and I are going to meet and go through our lines a few times.
-
That'll really help both of us. We'll finally be able to go through it as many times as we need to.
-
And now, I'm off to bed. I get to sleep in!
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning
-
I need more sleep
-
Good morning, all!
-
Dreadful night: I watched the PBS hour of Downton Abbey at 8:00, and that ended at 8:50. I took one extra-strength Tylenol and one Tylenol PM, and went to bed. Four hours later I was still awake and still in pain. At some point after 1:00 I did nod off, and I spent the remainder of the night until 6:15 tossing, dozing, and fighting pillows.
-
After I fed the cats, I took a naproxine and a tizanidine, and went back to bed. I slept until 8:30 or so, when all three cats got in bed with me. By 9:00 I decided the bed was too small for all of us - especially sionce all Stella wanted to do was wrestle with Thatch and annabelle - and got up.
-
No word from my doctor about a stronger pain med, which really angers me because it means there won't be any word until Monday, if then.
-
Good morning!
-
Hope you'll have a more restful night tonight, DR elmore.
-
Speaking of Downton Abbey, I saw the movie Thursday night. It was an advance screening (obviously) and moviegoers got a little Highclere Castle snowglobe.
-
I enjoyed the movie quite a lot. It's kind of silly at times but it's just so much fun seeing those characters again!
-
T.O.D.
THE TOWERING INFERNO is the best of them all.
-
B.K.
I didn't like LAWMAN either.
It had great potential, but...

On this date in 1951, one of Hollywood's most sordid scandals broke in the nation's press.
What happened?
"B" movie actor Tom Neal beat the s**t out of Franchot Tone, destroying his good looks and turning him into a "character actor". It all happened because both men were involved with Warner Brothers actress Barbara Payton, who had co-starred in movies with James Cagney, Gary Cooper and Gregory Peck.
This is a juicy story that kept on giving. Tone retreated to New York, and his career would survive. Not so for Payton or Neal. Both of them were virtually "blacklisted" from the business. She would, eventually, be arrested for prostitution, and he would be convicted for murdering his wife.
On a personal note: In 1964, for 3 months, I lived in the same apartment building as Ms. Payton, but that's another story.
I've dramatized the Tone-Payton-Neal scandal in my play, B MOVIE, which is available in both paperback and Kindle editions via Amazon.

That was back when scandals involved REAL actors and not just reality show trash.....and their self manufactured attention seeking...bull.....
-
Can someone move this car? I need to chop down a tree.

Vibes for DR ELMORE.

Congrats to MR BK for getting GO GO funds in the bank.
-
Working to get us to Page Two.
-
PICNIC was fine last night.....everyone did a good job and we once again had a very nice audience....tonight is our last show until next Wednesday, so I hope it is another good one!
-
I have a soft spot for ALL of the AIRPORT movies.....but I also like Poseidon Adventure, Towering Inferno, and Earthquake......
-
I am making a meatloaf to have for Sunday and Monday when I will have NOTHING to do but eat and watch television. It is in the oven.
-
No mail yet.....
-
Page Two!
-
Thanks to all for the nice comment on the photo.... Madge is in her thirties and Hal is 18....so I let him keep his beard to look a bit older.....

I enjoyed the movie quite a lot. It's kind of silly at times but it's just so much fun seeing those characters again!
Thanks for the "silly" warning 😊
-
Thatch is craving a lot of loving and attention this morning. I don't know where Annabelle and Stella have gone. They usually supervise my cleaning the litter since it means it's patrol time.
-
DR JRand69, I'm happy last night's show went well.
-

Do you have a place to leave out the snowglobe?
-
Now that the litter and dishes are cleaned, I need to think about breakfast before I lie down for a while.
-
Our company is up. I should get moving.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I slept in, which felt wonderful.
-
I should be starting work, but I don't feel like it.

Pain-free vibes for Elmore and anyone else in need.

TOD:
Airplane
Airport
Poseidon Adventure
Towering Inferno
Disaster! The Musical! (not a movie, but I have a DVD)
-
Good morning, all.
-
It just took me a little over an hour to pack up the two (count ‘em) keyboards and the amp and the racks and benches and music stands and the carry-on (or what used to pass as a carry-on, seeing as how this is still a nice size) with all the accessories and cables ‘n stuff, and load it all into the car.
And boy am I tired.
Fortunately, there’s plenty of help at the other end, and then a month before it all gets done again.
-
TOD
I love ‘em all, while POSEIDON and TOWERING get the nod for residing at the top of the list. Ever since playing DISASTER!, I’ve wanted to sit down and watch a string of them, and that hasn’t happened yet. I haven’t seen the AIRPORT movies, in particular, in a very long time, and their time is coming. In the right mood and frame of mind, they’ll all be a treat.

Saturday morning greetings! More DAR administration work for me today - and it involves a typewriter ???

DR Chas Smith, thank you for mentioning yesterday that you'd watched some of the Sweet MUMories videos.

A typewriter? Is it museum work?

I have made my chicken salad for tomorrow. I have gone to the library. I've fed the birds. I've done everything what I need to, which is to rewrite a story. I'll do it after a nap.
-
I'm up, I'm up - seven hours of sleep.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
I enjoyed BK's quip yesterday about not moving the car because it wasn't his. Strangely enough, last night about 10:30 a huge branch on the big tree in front of the apartment building next door cracked and fell on some poor sod's late-model Acura SUV. The owner of the building is VERY irresponsible and won't do any maintenance if he can avoid it. I hope this costs him. I feel bad for the SUV owner. He probably has insurance, but there are deductibles and you often don't receive full value for your car. Besides the hassle.
-
That's the news from my 'hood.
Must tend to laundry.
TTFN.

I posted a photo of Frances Farmer on the Indiana Historical Society Facebook page because they are having a retrospective of the photographer's work.
An hour later someone twit posted : "I remember her from her TV show. She's racist. I watched it..... Nothing special about her."
I let it set for a couple of hours - not taking the bait. Then I went back and hid the comment and blocked the person..... I just hope this means no one else can see it on the page.....
Such an unfounded and strange thing to post about a woman who has been dead for 49 years and was in fact quite liberal in her personal and political views.....
-
BK, what was the bookstore near the Nuart? You can’t be referring to something as far back as Papa Bach’s, can you?
It’s actually amazing that that name came to me just now. I’m remembering it probably from the late 1970s.
-
Googling it, I see it wasn’t a possessive, just Papa Bach Paperbacks.
I probably had a few of these!
-
I remember spending some enjoyable hours there browsing and killing time till something was starting at the Nuart or Royal. Or dropping in late after a movie before heading home.
-
I need to visit my local Half Price Books.....just for a look-see.....haven't been in a couple of years.
-
I shall now be on my to the Saturday night performance of PICNIC.

Facts are seemingly immaterial these days.

Article and sidebar are finished. I can now enjoy the rest of my weekend.

How fascinating my life is.
-
My life at the moment is no more fascinating. I spent the afternoon soaking in a hot tub and listening to a PBS folk music special.
-
I did get back to sleep for a bit and woke up around 9:30
-
This year I finally figured out the trick to making fluffy omlettes
-
I have a lovely little spring whisk, and I add a little cold water and beat and beat the eggs until they start getting a little foamy then gently pour them into a hot buttered skillet and cover and cook on medium heat ;D
-
Of course it’s not really an omelet unless you put in some filings
-
Today before beating the eggs I sautéed some chopped onion, pepper and mushrooms
-
Those went into the omlet along with chopped tomatoes and shredded cheddar in Vixdads, no tomatoes , but Swiss cheese in mine
-
Finished both with a little Vidalia onion and tomato dressing
-
Served with a lovely hot pot of tea
-
Vixdad also had beans and whole grain toast

ChasSmith - no, this was much more recent than Papa Bach's. In fact there were three bookstores near there, the last of which just closed a couple of months ago.
-
Grant ended up going to the bookstore with me - very disappointing - none of the fun stuff he brings to the shows was in evidence - I suspect that's not his clientele. But he does do a lot of events there, so we'll make a plan in October to do a Kritzer signing, since his store is literally five blocks from my childhood home. That way, I can talk all about the neighborhood as it was then and now.
-
We went to Marie Callendar's for food.
-
Burger and pie combo sale.
-
I finished up my evening work - filling the cats' water bowls, washing their dishes and mine, putting the laundry together for tomorrow - and I'm ready to die. I'm ready to get back into the tub.

Topic of the Day:
Airplane
Airport
The Andromeda Strain
The Big Bus
The China Syndrome
The Poseidon Adventure
The Towering Inferno
I think The Andromeda Strain is a scifi film.
-
I certainly have seen enough disaster films thanks to Keith. Not having a favorite I asked him for his. It is The Poseidon Adventure.
-
We pulled into the parking lot at our market this afternoon & were pleasantly surprised to see the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile.
-
For my second surprise of the day, the photo wasn't too large to post.

Saturday morning greetings! More DAR administration work for me today - and it involves a typewriter ???
A typewriter? Is it museum work?
Membership cards, DR John G. My predecessor led me to believe I could do a mail merge from our online national directory and print them onto the fillable cards we bought in Columbus last month. However - that mail merge 1) is for printing onto blank business card cardstock, which would use up way too much printer ink (unicorn blood, according to my son) and 2) requires Microsoft Word, which I don't have on my new MacBook Air and really don't want. What I do have is a nice correctable electronic typewriter that I bought years ago, specifically for filling out forms and addressing envelopes, both of which I think are pains in the neck on the computer, unless it's a writable PDF. It took me - maybe - 2 hours to type the 46 cards for our chapter and with no techno-stress (except when I thought the ribbon was giving out, but it wasn't).
-
I like that you typed the cards.
-
I like that you typed the cards.
It was fun, DR Jane, in a retro kind of way...
-
The time and trouble with the online photo printing services turned out to be worth it in the end
-
Today I received several packages
The 8x8 stickable photos from Phototile
The wedding album from snapfish
A large canvas print from easy canvas prints
All online providers I found on FB and all of which combined was less than one enlargement from the photographers site
-
I bought some phototiles for my mom and for the newlyweds as well
-
After cleaning up from breakfast I packaged the ones for Florida and drove to the post office and sent the package off
-
I’ll give my mom hers tomorrow at church
-
Then I went to the library to return a book and then fir a manicure and pedicure
-
I ended up falling asleep during the pedicure
-
I managed to stay awake during the manicure
-
I was so pleased with the wedding album I ordered 2 more. The site saved the order and allowed reorders with a push of a button so that was nice.
-
Even nicer was the 75% off code I received in an email today. I ended up paying about the same for the 2 additional books as I did .or the original one (for which I had a 50 % off coupon)
-
Post #100!

I'm back.

We met at the local Happy Teriyaki restaurant and ate, then we went through our scene several times.
-
Jeff and I also chatted and caught up.
-
We've known each other for almost 30 years.
-
My very first theatrical experience after graduating from college was in Man of La Mancha in December 1989 and Jeff played Don Quixote.
-
Our getting together today was quite helpful.
-
Before we got together, I actually drove out to the Boston Harbor marina where we'll be performing the play in cars.
-
I didn't really know what to expect, but it wasn't what I expected. :-\
-
But as I always say, "It'll be what it'll be."
;)

Hope you'll have a more restful night tonight, DR elmore.

My life at the moment is no more fascinating. I spent the afternoon soaking in a hot tub and listening to a PBS folk music special.
It's been YEARS since I've soaked in a tub...maybe not since I was a kid. I need to do it again because I have a couple of bath bombs that I want to use. One was a door prize, and the other was a prop for Legally Blonde that I didn't ask for reimbursement because I just wanted the packaging for the prop...so I kept the bomb. ;)

George I managed after weeks of trying to get videos off my phone and into Dropbox
Do you know if there is anyway to turn them into dvds and or cds. ( I’d really like to do both so I could play the cds I’m my car and still watch the dvds oat home but I don’t k ow if that’s even technically possible

Yes, it's possible. It's a little too complicated for me to explain, but it's possible.

Who is providing the cars?
The author is providing one, and other actors are providing the other five. The seventh car is actually only referred to, and not seen or acted within. So only six actual cars are part of the show, Seven Cars at Boston Harbor Marina.

Are there a lot? If you could send me the Dropbox link, I could install Dropbox (I used to have it on my Windows XP computer) I could easily do them because I do that all the time. It's just trying to explain how to do it all is the problem.

Well, I have ketchuped on all of today's posts.

Now, I need to (finally) balance my checkbook! It's literally been a couple of months. I have been checking my balance online to make sure that nothing looks unusual (something that I didn't purchase) and that I'm not getting close to running out, but I need to find out exactly where I am...checkbook-wise.

We are watching Throne of Blood
That's one Kurosawa movie I can't make up my mind whether I like it or not.

I had misremembered the time of my appointment and showed up 20 minutes before someone else was due so she started me and then left me soaking in warm water in a reclining massage chair while she took her other appointment. The room for pedicures has low lighting and soft music....

Well, I must admit that I don't remember too much about it, but I remember that when my sister and I watched it when we were much younger, we really liked it, so since I remembered it, and remembered that I at least used to like it, I added it to my list. :)

So did I. I went there today and I didn't see a formal parking lot, just cars on a dead-end street. But either way, we'll be outside.
-
What is the name of the guy you are working with?
Jeff...yes, that Jeff...formerly of Capital Playhouse.

Several, but not all of them. And I am only acting with Jeff, so I won't really get to know any of the others.

Really? That Jeff!

Today I watched LIFELINE:____________ about the Pulse nightclub shooting. It is basically a 53 minute commercial for donating blood. But it is quite moving, at times.

Jeff...yes, that Jeff...formerly of Capital Playhouse.
Really? That Jeff!
Yes. The author specifically asked Jeff to be in the show, which is his prerogative. Bryan also specifically asked me to be in the show without an audition (which has never happened before), so I absolutely said yes to being in the show.
