Jean Simmons (mentioned in today's notes) is on the London cast recording of A Little Night Music.  I like this recording a lot.

Just had to share. :)

This afternoon, I'm going back to usher at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts.  They've scheduled four filmed (in hi-def) operas from the San Francisco Opera and the first is Don Giovanni

Kritzerland.com is indeed working.  However, bk, you might want to have them fix the link for 'Billion Dollar Brain / The Final Option' on the bottom of the home page.
Only half of that text stream is functioning as an active link.

Also, in a quick spot-check, I couldn't get the Synopsis or the Liner Notes on Cry For Us All to come up - although the Production Stills are working just fine.

DR Jennifer I think you qualify for a higher ranking & will be surprised if they won't give you the vaccination with your sister's family.  Do I understand this correctly, instead of going for 2 separate trips they are only going for the 3rd slot vs the 2nd?

Like i said yesterday, they said they won't turn anyone away who comes earlier. So if i decide to go earlier than dec 7th than it should be no problem.

I am really not sure what my sis is planning to do. My niece who is 5 1/2 months old does not become eligible till mid-nov. So if they go before that then they will have to take her back.

Also my brother-in-law is going out of town on the 13th and i don't think he wants to get the shot that week in case he has a reaction (with the regular flu shot he often gets flu like symptoms).

I guess i will see when my sis goes. I would not want to go in the first 2 slots, in case there is not enough for the people who need it more.  Although i don't want to be around them so much if they have the shot and i don't.

The place near me does not open till nov 16th. There is another place which looks to be about 15 minutes away that opens earlier.

But doesn't BK park on the street? The way he described it I thought he just meant that there were cars in front and behind him very close.

Although maybe i misread it because i think in that case you should be able to get out no matter how close the cars are (assuming there is at least a couple inches).

Oh i would have so gone over there!

The title of todays is that song from Wicked.

Here are some of the lyrics

PROPAGATE" you're gonna be propagate!
i'll teach you the propagate ploys,
when you talk to boys,
little ways to flirt and flounce, ooh!
i'll show you what shoes to wear!
how to fix your hair!
everthing that really counts to be...

Bruce Kimmel's "new" film appearance.

I posted a link last night that didn't work

Try this

http://www.johnnyxmovie.com/ghastlyvision/mp.php

The click on filming Johnny X link and you will see clips and behind the scenes footage from the film.

Bruce is seen at the beginning and once more towards the end.

Sunday morning greetings!  My "alarm" this morning was the sound of metal poles hitting concrete and I thought it was coming from the construction site across the street.  Nope, a street fair is being set up on Broadway right in front of our building.

Richard is off to St. Mary's for a lecture on iconography and mass and I'm easing into the day.  We're meeting at Junior's about noon for lunch before seeing The Royal Family.

Thanks to DR Jose for posting pictures from last night.  Would y'all believe that my hair looked really good when we left the apartment yesterday morning?  Between the bubble goo and the rain, it was a disaster for our dinner/dessert festivities.  Ah, well.

Good morning!

Much cooler this morning, and the stifling humidity is gone which is a great relief. Highs in the 60s today which makes for a splendid fall day.

I was wrong about the release date of ICE AGE 3. It comes out THIS Tuesday. Of course, if Fox does what it did with its last batch of releases, I won't get it until November 3rd, but that's another story.

I am bristling with anticipation over watching the masterpiece HOWARDS END on Blu-ray this afternoon. I'm expecting to be blown away by the picture quality. I hope I'm not setting myself up for a fall. Anyway, that's my work project for today.

There are certainly plenty of bonus features with HOWARDS END, and since the film is almost 2 1/2 hours, I will be working on the movie into the evening hours. But I hope to have some free time to watch more stuff crammed onto the DVR.

DR CILLA LIZ I enjoyed the recent PAINTED VEIL remake.  I had never seen this earlier version - somehow I seem to associate Greta Garbo with stuffy costume high tone BIG acting romantic melodramas.

BUT in fact, she was delightful in this film, giving a completely timeless performance (except for some of her clothes, of course) and in spite of what they said about NINOTCHKA some years later....Garbo laughed several times here.

Today is our annual meeting for Putnam County Playhouse.  I have completed my Promotions Committee report and analyzed the data from the September survey.  Alas when I went to take down all of the newspaper coverage from the bulletin board to make a display - someone had already taken it ALL for some reason.

Perhaps it was the invaders from Mars.  No one else would need it.  So, alas, I will not have a display.
