Well, you've read the notes, the notes were Bondian, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently watching their favorite Bond film, MOOnraker.

Great James Bond stories in the notes.  The evening sounds like great fun.

I of course am working all day today.   Oh well.

However the director of THE CRUCIBLE has agreed that I can have Sunday and Monday evenings off since I only have ONE LINE in Act Two.

Good morning, all! I amstill uncertain about my fay. I had originally planned to go to Toyland but I'm going to hang out around the apartment and take it easy. I have a trip to make to the post office and pharmacy shortly, and then I'll spend the day tidying the apartment.

This weekend is a Miami University gathering in Manhattan. The school of Fine Arts has a concert involving Miami's music groups at Carnegie Hall tomorrow afternoon, and I hope to be there. Tonight, I will attend at Sardi's a reception between 6 and 8pm. I look forward to seeing several friends, and perhaps meeting a few others.

My father's family background is Appalachian White Trash; every trip I can remember to see my grandmother had at least one fried chicken dinner, if not two. We'd pull up in my grandmother's driveway and she'd grab a passing chicken, wring its neck, and fry it for dinner.

Best TOD Answer of All Time?

With that, I think the rest of us might be well advised, like Mr. Connery, to quit while we're ahead.

Good morning, all.

And happy birthday, JMK.

Off to a craft fair at church,  where I have been volunteered to run the concession stand.

TOD:

I'm sure Mom made the first fried chicken I ever ate. Wonderfully crisp and with plenty of salt. We did not use black pepper ever in my house because my dad doesn't like and he read somewhere that it causes cancer, so that was out the window.

That also meant we were Kentuckians who never ate Kentucky Fried Chicken.

I have had many wonderful versions of fried chicken in soul food and Southern restaurants through the years, so I can't pick out a single favorite. But I did like a Parmesan covered version at a local Italian restaurant. Yum.

It's also what I will likely have for dinner tonight.

I have returned from errands. I fell up the steps at the subway, tore a hole in my left knee and skinned my other leg. I got to the post office to learn that they no longer keep customs form in the open so I had to get in line for thedamend form and then get back in line to post the samend package. I continue to wish the post office an utter ruin ASAP.  Their dumbass employees deserve it.

After all that tsuris, the pharmacy was a breeze and I am all meds-ed up. I did forget to purchase a"neti pot" so I have to deal with that this weekend.

Sorry to hear about your fall, DR elmore.

The omens were not good this morning. I should have stayed home. I believe the PO is closed on Monday for Columbus Day and I had a package to send.

Thanks for the vibes and prayers for Sharon.  I hadn't heard any news so I made a couple phone calls today.  One was to the husband of one of her good friends.  They are backyard neighbors, anyway I have known the husband through work for years so I was more comfortable calling him.    He told me that his wife got a call yesterday that said they were taking her off life support.  He wasn't sure if that was good or bad.  I'm guessing the latter, but you never know, maybe she'll rally.  She's pretty strong willed, it could happen.

The last time I heard they were removing someone from life support was my neighbor who was attacked.  She started breathing on her own.  I haven't heard an update on her for a long time, but she is recovering.
