Quote from: bk on July 28, 2012, 10:20:09 PMSince Capitol Records has their mixing problems, perhaps FIORELLO is another needing a retake; I've always disliked that album, and I'd guess the orchestrations sound better than they do on the recording.Give me TENDERLOIN any day!
People are so funny. I was listening to the cast album of Zorba, seeing if that was something I might want to revisit like we did for Follies. I had the original CD with the green cover and hearing it I was actually shocked at the ineptitude of the mix - horrifying. Then I read that the Angel Broadway redo was much better so I bought that - it's actually worse. I will now try to license it because I suspect we can work some magic - it certainly wouldn't be hard to improve it at least 1000% and I really like the score. We shall see.
To echo George, I would love to get me some Kimmel-ized Zorba.
I can't believe that NBC News just ruined the swimming final for me. I can understand the other networks not caring, but NBC??
And the word of the day is: TRAJECT!

DR TCB:QuoteI can't believe that NBC News just ruined the swimming final for me. I can understand the other networks not caring, but NBC??
NBC news or the NBC Olympics coverage ruined it before they showed it?
The whole thing is confusing because obviously most everything NBC shows has already happened.
I think it would be okay for the news to show it. But to say beforehand that they are going to mention the results in case anybody is going to watch the evening Olympics coverage.
I am curious, since it was a Saturday did NBC show any of the swimming finals during the day or did they wait till primetime?
I was actually a bit surprised that the Canadian channel, CTV, in their primetime coverage sort of gave some things away. Sort of like what DR RonP was describing. They would sort of set the stage and describe it before showing it. They had already shown everything live. I guess it's hard to know whether to just show the primetime coverage as if the people hadn't watched all day. Or whether to just explain what happened and show it.
Congrats to DR DRUXY on his soon to be released audiot book!
DR JOHN G - I very much enjoyed your whale story.
Sunday sweet Sunday.
After work last night, I dropped by my sister's house (I sound like DR GEORGE) to visit a wedding shower for my nephew and his bride-to-be.
It was most enjoyable. I will be officiating at their ceremony on Friday, August 10th - so they are coming by this afternoon for THE TALK.....and I don't mean the television show.
I spoke too soon......in my Yahoo mail I did indeed receive the information about Easy Mole Removal....which includes the bonus of Skin Tag Removal as well.
Also at Yahoo:
1000's of Asian Women Eager to Date Me
Engagement Rings 80% Off
And THREE offers for Viagra at Bargain Prices.
Do what I do, TCB -- I ignore it all until I am in the voting booth. I am one of the ones who should not be allowed to vote. But my vote counts just as much as someone who researches.
Denial -- it's a wonderful thing.

Will you warn them about pre-marital sex?
DR ELMORE - looking at some of the manuals for portable air conditioners online - it IS recommended that they be plugged directly into the wall and not into power strip or extension cord.

I wish I could ignore it, Laura. I guess I am just too damn snoopy. I always have to open the e-mail and see if they wrote anything new.

Oh, I don't get any emails. I would never give a political campaign my email address.
Today should be Sherlock's 6th birthday. In his honor we are going to walk part of the hiking trails.
Maybe later today I will try to figure out DR George's instruction on sharing photos.

Thank you, DR JRand61. Electricity has never been one of the areas of home repair I am remotely good at! I'm assuming it can go into the socket where the dead air conditioner is currently plugged. And that reminds me I need to find an adaptor to take with my Macbook to Dublin. Where oh where?
I'm still listening to Bach Motets, but I have read the FOLLIES notes, BK, and they are really wonderful. The first production is indelible, and your notes capture so much of the reasons why it is so.Call them first and see if you can get your questions answered over the phone.
The AC at Toyland is wonderful. I want to move in and not leave.
I've been doing some coparative ashopping on line, and I think the 9000BTU Frigidaire is the one to purchase; it's $379 at Best Buy, so I may have to go back there and deal with those fools again this morning when I leave here.
Jane, I am addicted to "The Book Thief." I only have less than three discs left and just want to drive so I can listen to the rest of it.
The AC is part of my apartment; it's built into the wall.

I did not get an email about Mole Removal....

I've never had one of those either but I had an email from Walmart today offering savings on skin care products, which is close. I don't know why I get emails from Walmart though. I've never shopped there and the nearest store is about 3,000 miles away.

But the savings would be worth the trip, to be sure.
You just need an adapter NOT a converter for your laptop....or so it seems.

I hope it is cooler in NYC this weekend.
We had a nice hike at the trails today after doing a couple of errands. It is strange that after at least 10 years of hiking these trails 4-6 times a week I rarely go now.

But understandable.
Now I need to go look at my Follies LP.I bought the Playbill for a quarter some place. I know my vinyl is some later edition with no frills, barely even the vinyl inside.
Sadly, I already know there's no 1971 Playbill in it.
Writing vibes for DR JOHN G.
The only part of the Olympic coverage I saw last night, was the interview with the winner of one of the Men's swimming rounds....who was very ungracious in his comments......and the interview with Michael Phelps who was not pleased to be in 4th place OR talking to the interviewer.
OH and couple of minutes of Women's Beach Volleyball.....WHY IS THIS AN OLYMPIC SPORT? What's next - Baton Twirling?

You are very lucky.
Wow - on EBAY the Follies LP shows up with the same number - and three different labels - my RED one, the orange Capitol label, and the purple old-fashioned Capitol label......so I don't know, I may have a later edition.
I thought I had a copy that opened from the bottom of the logo, sort of like the LOST HORIZON LP did, with the LP in a trough, but I must have dreamed that.
My brother Randy just called. Our Aunt Jenny, my mother's sister-in-law, fell the other day and injured her head. She was declared brain dead today and my cousin Jennifer will be taking her off support tomorrow. This news breaks my heart. She was a wonderful woman and I will miss her enormously.
I like the Canadian diver's swimsuits
Dear Edwina Jr is now complete. The kids did a great job and I'm very proud of their work.
Thanks for the package George!

DR George, sorry about the latest on your Playhouse director.

This week on Broadway radio show with PETER FILICHIA, James Marino and Michael Portantiere mention around the 1hr & 2 min mark of todays show Bruce Kimmel and Liz Callaway (They say its the 1st, but really 2nd) recording The Story Goes On and how great it is and that one of them (hard me who says) still listens to it. Listen for what they call the record label at first. :-) They go on to praise her interpretation of the songs etc

Thanks DR Ginny.
This afternoon Keith mentioned we might go to Ohio & Kentucky in September. :)
DR Michael Shayne, the BABES IN TOYLAND project is dead. The plug was pulled over a year ago. i have no idea what the Pachard Humanities Institute will do with the files they own, but it's their headache now. I also have no idea if the recording will ever be released. I am no longer their employee.

I am sorry to hear that. You mention in postings that you were going to Toyland and was under the assumption that meant the project was still on. I didn't remember that it was dead if had been mentioned. All that work you put into it.
What a shame I would love to have had the recording. It is a piece of American theater history
I am still very sorry and sad about Sherlock, Jane.Me, too.
My mother, who was not a well woman and neither particularly successful as a homemaker or a parent, had a penchant for avoiding housework as much as possible. Between 1965 and 1968, whenever I was home from college, she would usually plan the weekend when I was to return to college to be out of town - my father's mother in Kentucky, her sister Lois in Columbus - so she had an excuse to do nothing to help me get ready to go back to school. My warmest memories, sadly, are of my Aunt Jenny coming over to wash all my accumulated laundry and to iron my shirts and trousers so I could go back to school. She never said a word about the fact that my mother was a lazy, narcissistic shit, and she always had the excuse that she knew by the time my parents got back, I had to leave and I couldn't leave unprepared. Her death tears my heart out that I now can never tell her how much I appreciated and loved her for doing that.
On a funny side, when she and my mother and the neighbor Jean were on a bowling team, Jenny was practicing her swing one day at home and put a huge hole in the living room wall. She was also a voracious hearts player and on weekends when I was home from college, she, my mother, my cousins, and I would play hearts for hours. I will miss her.
Well, it's time for me to get ready for tonight's performance of "Titus Andronicus." We didn't have a matinee and won't next Sunday, either. Only on our last Sunday will there be a matinee. Anyway, it's going to be a long night and hopefully we get an audience.
Be back later!

Not the best photo of my boy on the hiking trail but he sure looks happy.
DR George, thanks for the directions to do this.
Tomorrow morning Keith will be having laser surgery on his eye. After the short surgery, without any drugs, his vision should be clear again in his right eye.

I just received this e-mail. Do these idiots and morally bankrupt creeps think anyone is going to fall for this when they can't spell or write a coherent sentence?
