Well, you've read the notes, the notes were an oasis at midnight, and now it is time for you to post until the midnight cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: ONEIRIC!
-
I'm going to put my Kimmel to bed shortly. But, you know, I'd walk a mile for a Kimmel
-
Topic of the Day: I've seen a HORRIBLE production of Little Shop of Horrors, but it was the production that was bad, not the show itself. As for the actors coping, I don't think that most of them had a clew...I know the director didn't. ::)
-
Off to bed...good night whoever's still here. 8)
-
And the word of the day is: ONEIRIC!
I'm glad the word of the day is ONEIRIC. TWO IRICs would be a nightmare.
-
There was this show at the Alex Theater in Glendale, CA, called Fashion, supposedly about a group of ladies putting on a play, that was absolutly dreadful. I fell asleep. Der Brucer fell asleep. We left at intermission.
And, for some strange reason, they actually put out an Original Cast Album of the thing.
Der B and I passed on getting the album. We're not total masochists. :P

Has Ben washed his oatmeal bowl yet?
-
Hmm, the Rex Smith picture showed up in yesterday's posts but Jose's family pictures and Jed and Ann's wedding pictures did not show up. They were just replaced by a little red X. Oh, well.
-
Good morning friends.
-
Oatmeal is finished. You know what comes next.
-
Does Elmore even HAVE an oatmeal bowl?
-
Good morning Tom, Larry and Woody.
-
Good morning/evening, Tomovoz.
Do you know where your bowl is?
-
Time to get to work.
And, later, to a farmer's market, to see what we can find.
-
I saw a production of Hay Fever years ago that seend to totally miss the "Delivery" aspect of Coward's dialogue. (it was non professional).
I also saw a "star" production of "Private Lives" which tried too hard!
-
from yesterday
-
Good morning, all! No, DR SWW, I do not have an oatmeal bowl. I once had a beautiful bowl I used for cereal that I brought from Ohio when I moved. It was in my family for years; I remember my dad using it in the early 1950s. About 5 years ago I dropped it and it shattered into a lot of pieces. I've been trying to replace it ever since.
DRs Ann and Jed, I miss you both enormously! Please come back to the site ASAP!
Today, I see the barber first thing, then I need to hit Toyland for a bit and actually pack up some things. Then the NYPL, and after that, my trek to the orthopedist that I thought was yesterday.

The "out of towners "was so not funny.
So was at least half of "Califonia Suite". (Thank goodness For Maggie)

I see that TLA Video has announced the DVD release date for HOT FUZZ as 7/31/07, but I cannot tell if it's a 2-DVD set. The Region-2 DVD of HOT FUZZ is a 2-DVD set and the release date is 6/11/07. Next week! Goodie.

I couldn't get past page 15 of the posts yesterday.....kept getting server errors, but I will check later.....I guess there are pictures to see!!
-
My nephew worked a total of two days in a row and "needs a day off" so I have to work today, which messes up MY schedule..... Two days in a row...15 hours....slave labor, obviously.
Oh well....I sell tickets tomorrow afternoon for Cinderella.....the day the picture appears in the local paper, so I expect to hear lots of telephones ringing.
DR DANISE - a ringing telephone with no one there is not unusual at this time.
-
Another chance to mention the wonders of "Woman in White". A story that cried out NOT to be musicalised. The audience "buzz" (I think it was in the first week that we saw it) was missing totally. "The Beautiful Game" had more emotional impact - despite Ben Elton's lyrics.
-
Thanks for the "fuzz" report DR Elmore.
-
Off to work.
TOD:
A production of Don DeLillo's THE DAY ROOM that was so awful the whole town of Indy was talking about it, people were going to see it because it gave a new definition to the word bad. And the cast thought it was great and that "any publicity" that sold tickets was good. I was directing the next show at the theatre, so I went....I wish I hadn't.
A mis-directed production THE LISBON TRAVIATA....
-
I've mentioned months back the preview audience's response to the melodramatics of "Dream Girls" = laughter.
-
I've seen a few productions of Camelot and Showboat that seemed to go for six hours.
-
When we saw "Seussical" in New York - the audience just did not seem to be with the show. (We loved it). Cathy Rigby just seemed to work harder and harder to bring the audience "in".
-
Is anyone there?
-
To answer my own question. Yes - but back in yesterday.
-
Goodnight from OZ.
-
DRs JoseSPiano and Ann - thanks for posting all the lovely photos.
DR Edisaurus - I love Bill Irwin! Have no idea where he lives, but wouldn't be surprised if it was up here in Westchester county.
WOD: DR JRand56 is the master of all things oneiric.
-
TOD:
Roza was pretty bad; especially the big SEANCE/production number.
:)
-
It's too bad about the first reading getting such a small audience. That had to have affected the energy. I hope they were able to pull away some chairs so that evryone didn't look around and wonder where all the people were who didn't come. (The theory I've heard is that when there are loads of empty seats, the people who do come imagine that there were people expected to come who just didn't, and this affects their enjoyment of the event.)
-
Good morning/evening, Tomovoz.
Do you know where your bowl is?
Yep--they're all up in the cupboard. The big yellow one is for making cake batter, the green one is for making Jell-O, the red one is for haircuts and the blue is for storing leftover green beans in the fridge.
-
THe TOD raises the question of the material you're performing. Does it make a difference to the performer if they are doing a reading of brand new material, never before presented to an audience, or if they are doing the tried-and-true [the zillionth performance of Fiddler, for example.

TOD:
DADDY GOODNESS, a show that tried out in Philly and never went any where after that, as far as I recall. Nothing worked in this show--no laughs and every song fell flat. The production numbers pushed too hard and went on too long. But you couldn't blame the cast. Ted Ross, Frieda Payne and Clifton Davis gave it their all and did their damnest to sell it to the crowd. They were terrific, but the material gave them no support.
I saw the show on its third performance, at a point when the cast was still hopeful and enthusiastic. I recall hearing that towards the end of the run, Payne was basically walking through the show except during her numbers.
-
The example of THE COLOR PURPLE comes to mind, because the chnage has been so dramatic. I never would have imagined when I saw it early in its run that it had the potential to be as powerful to me, but the cast changes and I'd imagine a tightening in the performance that has come with time have elevated the show, making the material seem much better than it did when the show first opened.
-
I was able to see the pictures from last night. I looked in Firefox instead of IE7.
Adorable, Jose. Oh, yeah, the kids are cute too ;)
The wedding photos are quite loverly. You two make a beautiful couple. I bet TCB was poppin' his buttons with pride!

Tuesday morning greetings! My workplace is ashambles today, because they're remodeling the check-out desk for the self-check apparatus. Fortunately, I get to be out of the building for a chunk of the middle of the day, lunching with area grantmakers.

Do you know where your bowl is?
I know where all our dishes are, because I emptied the dishwasher before leaving for work ;)
-
Last night's family photos from DR Jose were very sweet, as were the wedding photos from DR Ann.
-
I'm a mite tee'd off with Amazon this morning. I read that DR Matt received his A LITTE NIGHT MUSIC DVD yesterday and yet my copy (which I order back in March) has yet to even ship! Likewise, in the same order, the Broadway's Lost Treasures: The Plays DVD, which was released eons ago, has yet to ship. I see that I can get a copy of this one second-hand on eBay for dollars less. I just might do that!
And did anyone else order Audra's 110 IN THE SHADE from Amazon? It was suppose to ship with CURTAINS, but now it looks like they shipped the latter by itself. Grrrrrrrrr...
-
DR Dan (the Man) - I ordered 110 directly from ps classics, and it arrived about two days later.
-
OK - for those without a CLEW - what is the connection between DR TCB and DRs Ann & Jed? :)
-
DR George, I listened to A Doll's Life yesterday. I must have listened to the LP a lot more than I remember, as I was much more familiar with this score than I would have expected. If I didn't know better, I would never identify this as the work of the same composer who wrote Snoopy!. There are many lovely moments of lyricism in this score.

Good morning one and all...

I don't know if Ann and Jed still live in the same apartment complex as TCB but they did while before and while they were planning the wedding. IIRC (please those of you with better memories, correct me if I'm wrong) TCB and Jed appeared in a production together playing father and son, hence the relative connection.

Good Morning!
Well... Almost time for me to head back to NYC. I've had a wonderful weekend down here with my family, and it really was just what I needed at this point and time. And as a bonus, the weather is absolutely gorgeous today! I'll probably end up in Central Park a few hours after I get off the train. We'll see.
Time for me to say Goodbye to my brother and his family.
And I shall think about the Topic of the Day while on the train.

Good morning!
Ah, summer approaches. It was barely cool enough last night to run the attic fan with windows open (and again this morning), but it's heating up fast. That A/C will no doubt me turned on in a day or two.
-
Thank you for sharing your wedding photos with us, DR Ann. I really enjoyed seeing you and Jed on your happy day. So glad everything went well for you.
-
I notice that Kathy Griffin has a one hour comedy special tonight along with the premiere of her new season of "Life on the D List." I'll be watching THE SHIELD at 10, but just wanted to alert folks if anyone is a fan.
-
I don't know if Ann and Jed still live in the same apartment complex as TCB but they did while before and while they were planning the wedding. IIRC (please those of you with better memories, correct me if I'm wrong) TCB and Jed appeared in a production together playing father and son, hence the relative connection.
Ben, almost all correct! We did indeed live in the same complex for a year, before buying our house in March of this year. Jed and TCB did a few shows together, although never playing as father and son. The "relative" connection came due to the startling resemblance between them. They were able to convince much of the cast that they truly were father and son...much to their amusement. TCB is now what we refer to as our "cyber-father" or now for me, my cyber-father-in-law...which makes for a lot of hyphens!
Thanks all for the comment on the photographs. It was a wonderful wonderful day, and I'm so glad to have pictures to remember it. I didn't, however, post the picture captured of me walking down the aisle. I didn't realize it at the time, but I had quite a "deer in the headlights" look on my face at first. Stage fright, I suppose.
-
Once again, I'm outside the pack. I loved THE OUT OF TOWNERS (original) and laughed uproariously throughout it.
-
Bruce, sorry to hear about the small house. Never easy to perform to. Here's hoping for a bigger one tonight!
-
I've used this example before, but the Broadway show I found the most excruciating to sit through was I HAD A BALL. There were people around me laughing and who seemed to be enjoying it, but I was so miserable. However, as it didn't run but six months or so, I guess not enough people found it enjoyable to keep it going.
-
I think the movie comedy I remember sitting through that had "flop sweat" all over it was Burt Reynolds' STROKER ACE. What a pile of garbage.
-
I'll be DVDing it for most of the day. I do want to finish FROM THE TERRACE that I started last night, but otherwise, I'll be enjoying more episodes of THE CLOSER and ANGEL in boxed sets I'm more than halfway through now.
-
Sorry, DR Dan (the Man), about your trouble getting DVDs shipped. And I laughed just a bit because I got my copy of the Tony plays DVD a week or so ago, too. Sometimes it just works that way for people living in different parts of the country. I don't understand why it does, but it seems to run in cycles. Right now, I seem to be getting my stuff either on time or ahead of time.
-

was there ever a clip of Cilla as a guest weaterperson?
-
There are a lot of bad movie comedies... Most of the ones with Adam Sandler and several other actors.
Stroker Ace and Talledega Nights made me yawn.
-
There are very few well done comedies now. Either the timing is off or they do not know how to get to the gist of the words to make it work. Also the pairing of actors off one and another can also kill something that would have been funny.
-
Vibes for a bigger house to play to for Bk tonight!
-
I just find movie comedies today mostly vulgar. Comedy on television is far more sophisticated and entertaining to me. I haven't seen anything at the movies that can compete with the best episodes of THE OFFICE, HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, 30 ROCK, or OLD CHRISTINE.

BTW, singdaw, that is a good rendering of her... You draw beautifully!!

The last comedy I played in was MY THREE ANGELS, and I think we had something like 35-40 people on opening night. Very demoralizing.

30 Rock and Studio 60 I liked. Very interesting shows. I am not as familiar with HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER or OLD CHRISTINE for CBS is very difficult to pull in. I do have to agree with you for television has had better comedies at times than film. There are several Britcoms I also enjoy and some are very smartly written. Actually one of my favorite Britcoms is an old one and it still makes me laugh, ARE YOU BEING SERVED? The show is still a hoot to watch. Presently, they are airiing GOOD NEIGHBOURS here. The episode they had recently had to do with rototiller races. That was a riot..

DR Jose,
Actually, DR Jed and Ann's is not the first HHW wedding...seems you have forgotten that about 3 or 4 years ago DR Swishysarah, or somebody like that, matched you and I up and got us married off...but IIRC you cheated on me before the ceremony even commenced. We never consumated the marriage and I had the whole thing annuled.
I think that is when the term 'Fickle Filipino" was coined.

TOD:
I've long felt that so many comedies fall flat. I like to laugh as much as the next person, but it needs to be funny! Not just another iteration of the latest joke/catchphrase, not just another vehicle for the star du jour. Not just two decent lines in a feature film.
That said, no specific shows come to mind, but I'm sure they will. I think I banished them from my memory--at least temporarily.
On the positive side, I LOOOOVEE Dame Edna! That's comedy with substance! Biting, yes. Scathing, yes. But FUNNY.

Off to the grantmakers' luncheon at the Dayton Racquet Club. It's a tough job, but someone has to do it!
Bye for now.

TOD:
THE WEDDING SINGER (film) simply didn't cut it for me.
-
Another favorite comedy series (to balance out my negative comments) is AT HOME WITH THE BRAITHWAITES. I've seen it 4 or 5 times and still laugh.
-
I've mentioned months back the preview audience's response to the melodramatics of "Dream Girls" = laughter.
Yes. I recall your mentioning it. It was stunning then. It's stunning now.
I think it's worthy of a study. I cannot imagine what the audience found so hilarious since "Dreamgirls" did nothing different from other films in the "melodramatic" department.
-
Off to run errands.
Will try to be back later.

Oh, that is right...Noel and Joy may have been the first...and then they both disappeared.

DR Edisaurus - I love Bill Irwin! Have no idea where he lives, but wouldn't be surprised if it was up here in Westchester county.
He is one of the sweetest people in the world. I always try to go up to NY whenever he has a new show. His revival of THE REGARD OF FLIGHT at Signature was wonderufl to see. He lives in Nyak, I believe, as does James Ivory, of Merchant-Ivory.
-
Once again, I'm outside the pack. I loved THE OUT OF TOWNERS (original) and laughed uproariously throughout it.
Oof....Jack Lemmon needed a stronger director to restrain him from his overbearing schtick....and someone needed to put a whine-o-meter on Sandy Dennis.
I wanted to love it, but found myself very irritated by it.
-
Dakota-Thank you for asking, only time will tell how Sherlock is. We are loading him up on natural products which, hopefully, will keep his joints lubricated & prevent his elbow joints from deteriorating, resulting in elbow dysplasia.
He did fine on the trip. Now that we are home we need to find flat areas he can run free. It’s sad we have an incredibly huge yard & can’t let him loose here as it’s too hilly.
How is your father?

News from sometimes lurker Susan for Randy Newman fans. (Tomovoz!)
The information on this week's show is up on their site now:
LAND OF DREAMS
THIS WEEK'S SHOW
Greek Theater
June 9, 2007
This week on A Prairie Home Companion, we'll visit the majestic open
air Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, where the no smoking policy is now
enforced with high-pressure water cannons and helicopters loaded with
foam. With us this week are piano man Randy Newman, the California kid Martin Sheen, comedienne Paula Poundstone, and cellist Meta Weiss. Also with us, the Royal Academy of Radio Acting: Tim Russell, Sue Scott, Fred Newman, and Erica Rhodes, The Guy's All-Star Shoe Band with Richard Dworsky, The News From Lake Wobegon, and much more, coming up this week on A Prairie Home Companion.
http://prairiehome.publicradio.org/
From the Greek Theatre site, some information on at least the local
broadcast:
This will be the fifth consecutive year that Garrison Keillor has
brought the renowned public radio program to Los Angeles. The
performance will be recorded and broadcast to die-hard fans around the
country and the globe on Saturday, June 9th. 89.3 KPCC will broadcast
the event locally at 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM on June 9th and 11:00 AM on Sunday, June 10th.
Currently in its 33rd season, A Prairie Home Companion has made
Minnesota's way of life and the fictional small town of Lake Wobegon
part of American popular culture. The show is heard on more than 500
public radio stations nationwide, with a weekly audience that tops 4.3
million listeners. The program can also be heard on XM Radio, the
Armed Forces Network Europe, the Far East Network, and in dozens of
European cities via the Astra satellite network. Garrison Keillor's
signature monologue, The News From Lake Wobegon, is available via
podcast/iTunes.

I wanted to love it, but found myself very irritated by it.
I saw it when it came out and found it almost unbearable.
Comedies where the humor is derived from people whining and bitching at each other are rarely funny to me.
-
Oh, that is right...Noel and Joy may have been the first...and then they both disappeared.
If memory serves Noel left not because of his marriage, but he got into a dispute with someone about something that I no longer remember what it was all about.
So leaving here because of the someone about something was not the thing to do.

I wonder if some of the problem is the medium. Movie goers today want a big-screen roller-coaster ride to justify the expense. Even if Hollywood produced a clever comedy (ala Hepburn/Tracy or Cary Grant/anywoman) many of us would stay home and wait for the DVD. That said, a big screen chase-comedy ala Mad, Mad, etc ot The Great race might still play well.

This Afternoon is the Grand Opening for The Rehoboth Beach Farmer's Market. I'll pick up Woody at 4:30 and we shall go Famer shopping - with luck I'll find some fresh local Scrapple! (Or some local Amish baked goods!)
On a local note (a sign of the times), there is a health alert not to eat more than one portion/week of fish caught in any Delaware waters (coastal, inland, or fresh) - unless your you're (OZ might be watching) pregnant, or the fish were caught in a few of our local rivers, then the limit is one portion/month!
Woody has yet to master fish cookery.

Not here. Delaware is still in retro-grade. Possession of a trace amount will land you in the pokey and a flower-pot sized plant can get your house confiscated by the government. White drivers going through black neighborhoods are presumed to be looking for a drug buy!

I'd only heard the whole recording once or twice before, but one of the songs must've been on some compilation (or maybe Donald Feltham played it on The Broadway Radio Show), because I practically knew the whole thing. And I was thinking the same thing about the score. Snoopy (which I really like) and this were from the same composer? Good work!

Yes, I think that's true. I meet lots of people at my local video store who like classic films--some won't even go to a movie in a theater. One video store employee told me that a lot of their business is older films--not the blockbusters, which surprised me. Then there's the "date movie" thing. Two very different audiences, both watching films?

In any case...
The train ride up from DC was pleasant and uneventful. There were four Italian tourists sitting behind me, and from what I could understand from my rudimentary knowledge of Italian, it was there first trip abroad. And I think the two men were brothers, and they were with there wives. -I didn't have my Cassell's on me, so... ;)
Otherwise, the train got in a few minutes early... There was an A Train "waiting" for me when I got the subway platform. And there was a wonderful CD from Down Under in my mailbox... As well as a check for a gig I did a few weeks ago - and had forgot about. :) -So, I've also been to the bank already too.
-
RE: Tom Cruise's weight - I'm suspecting that they're padding and/or guessing his weight. It's possible that he did at one point and time weigh 200 pounds, but 200 pounds on his frame would seem very evident as it were. At least to me.
I met him when "Top Gun" premiered. I managed to attend the special premier they had out at Dulles Airport - I think it was there. In any case, it was sort of a makeshift set-up. Lots of military people were invited, former astronauts, etc. Hard to believe that 20 years ago. -More than 20? -Somebody check the IMDB for me. ;)
In any case... I have to say, he was quite cute, hot and sexy(!) back then. And sort of surprisingly "plain" looking in person. But the smile and the eyes truly caught your - well, my - attention. Basically, the sexy-regular-looking guy. Whatever that means.
*However, I do have to say that Rick Russovich and Val Kilmer (at that point and time) were truly the eye candy of the evening. -And when that volleyball game started on screen, you could sense everyone's hormones - the women's as well as some of the men - starting to perk up as it were. ::)
-
Well, I'm trying to be a "good boy" and actually put my clothes away and such instead of letting them sit there for a few days. -However, I have started a load of laundry, and I've gone through my mail. So that's something...
Laters...
-
OOHH!!!!
DR Tomovoz - As I mentioned, the HHW Birthday CD was waiting for me in the mail basket when I got back to the apartment. Alas, the CDs I sent you two weeks ago were also waiting for me in the mail basket. There's some tag on the customs form saying, "Undeliverable", followed by some numbers - I guess that's some code for the problem/violation/rule/bureaucracy. ??? So, I shall attempt to post it again tomorrow morning. Thankfully, the envelope was not opened, and the contents were intact. Whew!

I can only judge what I've seen on HBO/Showtime/Starz. Two of the biggest hits of the past two years were WEDDING CRASHERS and THE 40 YEAR OLD VIRGIN. I had friends who liked both. I found both unbearable.
The producers are catering to the Saturday night date crowds and the teen/early 20s male sensibilities, neither of which I fit into.
But, that's OK. They can have CLICK and BRUCE ALMIGHTY, and I'll take the occasional comedy-drama (THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA) and NBC's comedy line-up.

I've had a mostly Kyra Sedgwick afternoon.
I started with the next episode in the season two box of THE CLOSER. This is the one where a boy's death in an operating room was deemed a murder by his mother. Interesting case, but I found the ending a bit too pat. One of my least favorites of this second season.

TOD
My first time in London, I went to see NO SEX PLEASE WE'RE BRITISH. By that time, the show had probably been running for, at least, 80 years - an probably with the same cast. My friend and I went to a Saturday matinee, and the house was less than half full.
The cast seemed to be simply going through their paces, saying their lines without feeling, and then holding for the laughs that weren't coming. The less the audience laughed, the more annoyed the cast became. At one point, one of the actresses stopped center stage, turned out front, and screamed the punchline at us like we were morons. We only stayed for the second act, because it was obvious that this was a rare hate/hate relationship.. When we got to the curtain call (in almost total silence) the cast moved rapidly to their places, never bowed, and left the stage in a huff. Very bizarre!

I hope we can return the one I bought. It won't fit in the other bathroom, either, by the way.
The new one probably won't be as nice as this one; I picked out a really nice one the first time around. I suppose I will get something back for it.
-
Good Evening!
Back from a jaunt to midtown, and now I'm watching the Republican Candidates debate. Hmm....
-
Oh, standing me up in NY was a whole other situation DR Jose.
The two of us were married before ever meeting in person. Swishysarah officiated, I think. Or maybe BK did. I forget.
Well, this just seems to be a case of "He Said, He Said."
-
Don't they usually leave it on the nightstand?
Well, if the did that, then I would not be able to provide an invoice and receipt of payment.

So dissapointing. Hoping you find something nice, and it is in stock.

What happened to the Great American Laundry Cycle - dirty clothes home to Mom, clean clothes back!
der Brucer
Well... As my three younger brothers and I learned early on: My mom likes to bleach everything(!). 'Nuff said.
-
Still watching the "debate"... Although, I guess it's being moderated more as a town meeting. ???
-
You guys will never, ever guess what I'm using to post.
-
However, some interesting questions have been asked, and some interesting answers have been given. And some surprisingly honest answers too - at least to me.
-
I'm posting on my Nintendo DS! They now sell a browser card for it. And it allows me to actually post! Oh, so cool!

DESPAIR (http://www.despair.com/insecuritee.html)
The InsecuriTee™
The proliferation of "Security" t-shirts, now worn at concerts and clubs by even the least intimidating specimens of mankind, has become a fashion cliche. Having lost both its novelty and threat, it has now ironically become an advertisement for one's insecurity.
With one eye grimly appraising the situation, and another eye fixated on an opportunity to financially exploit said situation, Despair Inc. introduces a radical and lucid alternative- the Insecuri-Tee™.
This elegant satirical twist on the time-worn "Security" shirt will serve two critical purposes for the concert goer who wears it. First- it will repel individuals without exception- as no trait is less attractive than a person draped in insecurity. Second- it will establish in the mind of the delusional adorner a paradoxical sense of superiority to those who claim to be "Security". Ooh-La-La, Sassoon!
At long last, Despair has introduced a product perfectly suited for disaffected college students!

Well... There's gonna be one less show for any interested Hainsies and Kimlets to see if they're coming to New York City at the end of the month...

Hi all, I can't stay for long because I need my beauty sleep. I would have been here sooner but I was stopped by the man who lives across the street. He asked if something was wrong.
I had to tell him about Mom and we chatted for awhile. He asked if I was going to stay in the house and I told him I was thinking about it but it is possible that I might decide to move. He said he hoped I would stay.
This year makes 28 in this house and they have been here just as long.
-
I liked the pictures of Uncle JoJo and all of the family both two and four legged.
-
Well, if the did that, then I would not be able to provide an invoice and receipt of payment.
Just proof of delivery!
-
Oh, and I did go look at My Space. Well, it isn't MY space. I didn't think it looked to interesting. I won't go back.
-
My men have put the vanity in the truck, and we shall now make the exchange.
-
Congrats to Ann and Jed!
-
No one ever did call back last night. I guess it might have been a wrong number.
-
I shall now be on my way to the theater - more cuts, apparently, which is a good thing - and my suggestion has been taken, which is also a good thing.
-
Hmm.. TV sucks tonight. Just sayin'.
-
Oh and I have to tell you that I put a call into the local Museum of
Science and Industry to ask if I could arrange to see my Mom's star.
I haven't gotten a return call but I'm hoping!
-
Hmmm...
Just what it is with pre-teen and teenage girls singing songs from "Dreamgirls"?!?!!?
-But, I have to say that the English judge just tore her a new one!
-Yes, I'm "watching" "America's Got Talent". :-\
-
-Yes, I'm "watching" "America's Got Talent". :-\
I'm watching the same thing. Oy. :P
And with that I think I shall go dream a "America's Got Talent".
Have a good evening all! :)
-
Hmm.. TV sucks tonight. Just sayin'.
I've been watching AMERICA'S GOT TALENT, and it's soooo goddam noisy! I had a good time watching it last year, but so far tonight, no cigar.
-
I'm off to rehearsal, but I'll need to stop home and program my DVR to record Kathy Griffin and "America's Got Talent." I did enjoy that last year...somewhat. ;)
-
Hmmm...
Just what it is with pre-teen and teenage girls singing songs from "Dreamgirls"?!?!!?
And she stank, to boot!
-
OMG! I have that EXACT set of bowls. I use the Red Bowl for Jello, the Yellow Bowl for big salads, the Green Bowl for smaller salads and the Blue Bowl for various and sundried things.
I think I have these somewhere...I know we had them when I was growingp up and I thought my mom gave them to me... but I have no idea where they would be hm....
-
*still waiting patiently for DR Cillaliz's DVD!* :)
Oh, it's right here, I just don't know if I want to share it
-
I meant to tell DR CILLALIZ how much I like the feline mural in her bathroom. It's a wallpaper? It's quite cute.
It's a border, can't think of the company but it's in the Folk Art by David line
-
Oh... Jerry Springer is the new host... That explains a lot. :-\
-
Oh... Jerry Springer is the new host... That explains a lot. :-\
Thank God for Piers! He has the same low tolerance for incompetence that I do, and these kids are dreadful. I thought Ms Osborne's blowup was totally assinine. So far, the answer to AMERICA'S GOT TALENT is: ya sure?
-
DR Cillaliz - When you played Potemkin in Celebration, did you just sing all of the character's songs in your own octave, or did they transpose?
I've sung everything from first soprano to tenor - in the tenor range. I really don't remember how I did it. Mostly it was in the low part of my range except for the high notes in Not My Problem...those were near the top of my range. It was a pretty bad production, to tell you the truth, but I had a blast with it, especially Love Song
-
Oh, it's right here, I just don't know if I want to share it
;D I hope you decide to share.
-
I dreamed last night that I was late getting to preschool, so the next-door neighbor lent me his bicycle. After I got to preschool, I realized that I had somehow lost the bicycle somewhere along the way and didn't know where it was. I woke up and spent the rest of the night wondering how you could lose a bicycle while you're riding it and not even realize it.
-
Sandra- ;D ;D ;D
-
We have the new vanity. It is not what I wanted, but it should fit ok. And it was cheaper.

You can't always get what you want......sorry but that was what immediately popped into my head
-
;D I hope you decide to share.
I just watched it again. It's very short, and I did fine, but I just don't like the idea of having anything on You Tube....that's pretty funny really, I went to a meeting to save a building tonight and was just planning on being there to show support, well of course I ended up talking about how beautiful the building is and how it breaks my heart that the bank wants to tear it down to build a parking lot.....and of course there were cameras there from 3 local TV stations, so I'll probably be on tonight.
-
And who would want to watch the weather from April whatever it was....the day of the VA Tech shooting...I know that.
-
We have the new vanity. It is not what I wanted, but it should fit ok. And it was cheaper.
I looked and looked for a vanity for my bathroom. The inexpensive ones were never the right size--or I just disliked them. Once again, I ended up with a custom cabinet. Marvelous Matt, of course. It was a bit more expensive, but I REALLY LIKE IT!!! I've had to do many custom projects on this house because the house is from 1820 and things were a bit different then. But if you find good people with good rates it really isn't that much more expensive and you end up with something very nice. I haven't been sorry; I'd do it again. Then again, sometimes you just luck out and find a stock item you're happy with.
-
Let me see if one of my computers has a program that will rip it from the dvd or if I have to copy it and send it to someone
-
DR Laura, I hope my "can't always get" wasn't offensive to you. It was just the song that immediately popped in my head when I read your post.
-
DR George - the Curtains CD was released today. I pre-ordered from Amazon. I got an email that it shipped on Saturday, but I haven't gotten it yet

Oh Cool, I tracked it and it left Des Moines today. I should get it tomorrow.

I got what I wanted; I just couldn't keep it.

Were they dating when they first started posting here, or was it something that bloomed "while" they were actively posting here?
They had been friends since they were little kids. When Jed decided to move to Tacoma, Ann said he could stay with her, still just as friends. Well, as time went by, romance found Andy Hardy.
-
Hmm.. TV sucks tonight. Just sayin'.
So do I. Nevermind!
-
I order several DVDs from Amazon as Best Buy only had one of the DVDs I wanted and I didn't need the instant gratification of buying just one. For my eclectic viewing for the next week or so I have purchased A Little Night Music, Fantastic Voyage, Season 2 of Mission Impossible and the restored version of Duck You Sucker. I have been waiting for the latter for the longest time and remembering when I lived in Montreal I saw the uncut version many times. It played at a small theater near my house (2 blocks away) and it played for almost three years!! I was tempted to buy some other DVDs but have but those on hold. Actually a Little Music is not slated for delivery for a couple of weeks.
A Fine Romance with Julie Andrews & Marcello Mastroanni, To Be Or Not To Be with Jack Benny and Our Sons with Julie Andrews and Anne Margret.
And I just saw that a Fine Romance is being released in FULL SCREEN! Was is original made for TV and then released to the theaters???

AMERICA'S GOT TALENT
(But you won't see it here!)
Did you see the Dueling pecs? Bless us and save us Mrs. O'Davis

Haven't caught up with all the postings from the last few days. So this may have been mentioned/
Is there a website for the play Party Animals that BK is in?
-
TOD - I think it was Seussical for me. I just thought it was dumb. It was a tour, don't know if that made any difference
-
I didn't attend. Apparently an invite was sent, but not received. Oh well, we shall celebrate with pizza and that long overdue ice cream treat.
You never received it??? Rats! I did not know this.
We will have to celebrate with pizza and ice cream, and soon. Just this last Sunday we were discussing that it'd been too long since we met up.
-
Oy! If I knew I would be on tv that long, I would have put on make-up this morning, lol. If they post the story later, I'll give you a link, but they showed quite a bit of me.
-
I have to say that it felt good to go and stick up for the building. I'll have to photograph it during the next month in case we lose the battle
-
TOD - Lost in Translation - I know millions thought it was the best movie ever, but we found it oh-so-tedious.
So did I. I found nothing about it worthy of all the commendations it received, but I certainly did know folks who liked it a lot. I didn't.
-
I enjoyed Lost in Translation, but I don't know why.
-
I finished the episode of THE CLOSER I had started, the one with Richard ROuntree trying to save him son from being killed by the cops. It was a good one from the first season.
-
I watched one more CLOSER episode from the first season, the one with Mark Fuerstein as the psychiatrist whose professional partner was murdered. This is the one where Lt. Flynn was at his most devious in trying to bring down Brenda Leigh.
-
Next, I picked back up with FROM THE TERRACE where I stopped watching it last night. I didn't get to the end of it (still have about 20 minutes to go), but I was only halfway enjoying it. I liked Ina Balin a lot, but this kind of melodrama where things happen just at the moment of something else occurring (Newman's father dying right as Paul is getting ready to be married; Joanne's former finace just happening to be invited to a party when Paul can't make it home due to business) is just so artificial and calculated.
I liked THE LONG HOT SUMMER much, much more than this. Glad I didn't spring for the DVD.
-
I watched the Kathy Griffin comedy special on Bravo. It certainly made me laugh out loud a couple of times, but I didn't find the comedy consistently laugh out loud funny. I certainly "get" her mantra, and it makes me smile more than guffaw. Margaret Cho can make me laugh out loud much harder and more often than Kathy.
-
The season finale for THE SHIELD was 90 minutes tonight, and it was chock full of action and surprises. Terrific end to a marvelous season, one of its best ever.
-
My eyes must be a little fuzzy tonight. I could have sworn people were talking about duckling pecs.
And I won't say what I thoguht I was reading when it actually said Duck You Sucker.
-
I'm heading downstairs now to go to bed.
Good night!
-
My eyes must be a little fuzzy tonight. I could have sworn people were talking about duckling pecs.
And I won't say what I thoguht I was reading when it actually said Duck You Sucker.
I can't even explain it, but I'll try....two guys flexing their pecs independently to Dueling Banjos. I'm sure it will make YouTube
-
Hmmm...I was going to go to bed early tonight, but now it's too late to do that.
-
My Tomovoz made HHW Birthday CD finally made it to Salem.
I think my post man was confused to see a package from Australia as he had recently commented on the amount of packages I have been getting from India.
-
Good to know DR MBarnum.
-
We've just returned from the Pirates 3 movie. A lot of fun. Unlike DR Vixmom, we had no problem with the "choices".
-
DR George - the Curtains CD was released today. I pre-ordered from Amazon. I got an email that it shipped on Saturday, but I haven't gotten it yet
I haven't gotten mine, yet. It's supposed to be delivered on June 8th...Friday.

I really like Margaret Cho, but I love Kathy Griffin. :D

It will take three weeks for my curtains to arrive. (probably). I shall avoid all the possible jokes about the hanging of such.
-
So...what's taking BK so long?
-
He's hanging curtains?
-
Here's a post: I bought a shredder. :) Actually, I got a confetti paper shredder so that all of my personal documents ( ;) ) can be shredded into tiny, small pieces so that it can't be put back together. And it'll help with recycling. :)
-
He's hanging curtains?
This reminds me of a joke that I've posted before...I hope no one minds the repeat:
CURTAIN RODS
She spent the first day packing her belongings into boxes, crates and suitcases. On the second day, she had the movers come and collect her things.
On the third day, she sat down for the last time at their beautiful dining room table by candlelight, put on some soft background music, and feasted on a pound of shrimp, a jar of caviar, and a bottle of Chardonnay.
When she had finished, she went into each and every room and deposited a few half-eaten shrimp shells, dipped in caviar, into the hollow of the curtain rods. She then cleaned up the kitchen and left.
When the husband returned with his new girlfriend, all was bliss for the first few days. Then slowly, the house began to smell. They tried everything; cleaning and mopping and airing the place out. Vents were checked for dead rodents, and carpets were steam-cleaned. Air fresheners were hung everywhere.
Exterminators were brought in to set off gas canisters, during which they had to move out for a few days, and in the end they even paid to replace the expensive wool carpeting.
Nothing worked. People stopped coming over to visit... Repairmen refused to work in the house...the maid quit...
Finally, they could not take the stench any longer and decided to move.
A month later, even though they had cut their price in half, they could not find a buyer for their stinky house. Word got out, and eventually, even the local realtors refused to return their calls.
Finally, they had to borrow a huge sum of money from the bank to purchase a new place.
The ex-wife called the man, and asked how things were going. He told her the saga of the rotting house. She listened politely, and said that she missed her old home terribly, and would be willing to reduce her divorce settlement in exchange for getting the house back...
Knowing that his ex-wife had no idea how bad the smell was, he agreed on price that was about 1/10th of what the house had been worth...But only if she were to sign the papers that very day. She agreed, and within the hour, his lawyers delivered the paperwork.
A week later, the man and his new girlfriend stood smirking as they watched the moving company pack everything to take to their new home...
...including the curtain rods.
I LOVE A HAPPY ENDING, DON’T YOU????
-
Sorry, back late because a few of us went out after the performance. I must now write the notes in a hurry.

My Tomovoz made HHW Birthday CD finally made it to Salem.

Not specifically. ::)
;)
-
DR Tomovoz - your knowledge of popular music never ceases to astonish me! :)
Gave a full listen to the birthday CD yesterday - really a lot of fun. Now I understand some of the inside jokes from the past few days. Hee hee!
