Well, you've read the notes, the notes had senior moments, and now it is time for you to post until the senior cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: PUSH!
-
It's reading out that it completed, but the activity window hasn't cleared - which is what happened before. Hopefully it will clear at some point soon. I can't go through it again, seriously.
-
First post after BK.
-
It just cleared! So, now the hope is that in the next couple of hours the phone will synch.

George, are you allowed to listen to music after 9:00p.m.?

Good night, George.
-
George, are you allowed to listen to music after 9:00p.m.?
Yes, but I don't turn it (or my TV) up too loud.
-
To answer Tom's question from last night: my washing machine or dryer may not be louder than a TV, but it vibrates a lot more, and that can resonate through the building and be more noticeable and annoying.
-
Good night, Tom and BK. I need to go to work much earlier than I usually do, so I need to go to bed now.
Have a good day, all!

First post after BK.
is this first East coast post after BK?

To answer Tom's question from last night: my washing machine or dryer may not be louder than a TV, but it vibrates a lot more, and that can resonate through the building and be more noticeable and annoying.
Somehow, that reminds me of Dolly's line about Horace's cast register: "It's a little lumpy, but. it rings."
-
Good morning, all!
-
Around 1:30 I had a panic attack over this landlord situation. I fell back to sleep around 4:00 and my dream was a combo of Night of the Iguana, some demented nuns, a young man in the Miami University Theatre Dept. 50 years ago, a fire, and a big lake.
I was awaklened byt Thatch around 5:30 wanting breakfast, followed by Annabelle wanting to crawl under the blankets for warmth, then Stella started shouting for food. I got up at 6:15, fed them, set the alarm for 7:30 and went back to bed. I couldn't go back to sleep because of my eviction anxiety, so I'm dressed and waiting for 8:30 to begin making phone calls.
-
I have no other news at the moment.

Good morning, all.

It’s too bloody early.

I got through to the NY Housing Authority, and I must make the trek to 111 Centre Street ASAP, which means I will miss this morning's memorial service for Jo Loesser at 10:30. This really pisses me off.
-
Good morning, all.

DR Elmore, your news of last night is infuriating. WTF is up with the timing of that, anyway?
I know enough people in NYC that I've long had the impression that it's actually supposed to be quite difficult to evict a tenant in many circumstances, and that there are advocacy boards or whatnot who deal with this crap every single day. Are you happy with the contacts you have now, or would it be acceptable for me to ask a couple of people about additional resources? ('No' is an acceptable answer, I won't be offended, never worry about that.)
-
Schlesinger? Oh my, it's been so long since I've watched any of his movies. But these are certainly at the top of the list:
MIDNIGHT COWBOY
MARATHON MAN
DAY OF THE LOCUST
THE BELIEVERS
I, too, have never watched FAR FROM THE MADDING CROWD and SUNDAY BLOODY SUNDAY -- and I own the Blu-rays of both. That's pretty bad, right?
I never saw DARLING, either. Wow.
-
Good lord, I never saw his TALE OF SWEENEY TODD, either.

This needs to be a day of musical work, and I must get to it forthwith. And henceforth. And heretofore, in case that helps.
Best and strongest vibes to all.

I was in a play in which I played several small parts. One part was as a customer in the record store in which one of the leading ladies worked....every time there was a scene in that location, I had to come in and demand that the Hindemith record I ordered be found.....it never was.
I wonder if any DR knows what PLAY it is.......I do.....do you?

Yesterday afternoon, we completed the audio edition of my one person play, CLIFTON WEBB, and uploaded it onto ACX.
It will be about 10-14 (working) days before it becomes available for download.
John Boulanger, the actor who does the role, is terrific.
-
I've also signed somebody to do the audio edition of my play, DICK POWELL.
Just starting on that one.
-
Thursday morning greetings! So, a crew from a company we've used for years was due early this morning to wash our windows, swap the storm windows for screens, and power wash the exterior of our house. Richard worked hard yesterday setting all the screens by their windows and we both moved stuff to make the windows accessible. I got up early in order to be dressed when the crew arrived, only to get a phone call that they were short-staffed and would not be here today. We are penciled in for next Wednesday - arrrgh!

Richard has already put a couple of them in himself, because our house was getting very stuffy.
So, under those windows, we get to look at the dirty storm windows and have to try not to break them.

I'm home from the courthouse. I have a hearing scheduled for a week from today at 10:30 to plead my case and bring proof of payment. I decided to go to the Dept. of Aging and apply for a Senior Citizen Rent Reduction (SCRIE) to say fuck you to the landlord. The clerk who scheduled my hearing gave me the old SCRIE address and I walked for blocks to the Dept. of Aging, but SCRIE has moved; I made the trip for nothing but aggravating my leg.
-
Traffic sucks today. It took a 30 minute taxi ride from the court house to Sixth Ave and 18th Street where I caught the No. 7 bus for an hour-long ride from there to home.
When I got home there was an email from my landlord's legal adviser responding to my email from last night: Please disregard whatever you received. I will let the attorney know you paid.
I sent her back an email saying: Too late! We're going to court.

We'll see what happens next.

Here, too (yesterday), and I'm popping it into the player right now.

We'll see what happens next.
At this point you're certain to come out of this just fine -- in fact, you're already just fine, given that email response -- but hopefully you'll wind up even better than before, what with taking the offense on the senior thing. Congrats, but of course continued vibes that it all plays out smoothly.

Me, too! Although, I did notice a mistake on the endcard. The last song listed is track 18, "The Devil Played the Fiddle," but that's actually track 19. Track 18 is "When It's Love," sung by Arthur Siegel and K.T. Sullivan. :-\
-
Of course, it's really obvious when you listen to it. :)

Good news DR ELMORE. Did you call the other people and let them know they are giving out the wrong address? It might save some other sucker a long walk......
-
Nothing burns my ASS more than being given WRONG information by the very people whose job it is to be the EXPERTS on that information.
-
Good news DR ELMORE. Did you call the other people and let them know they are giving out the wrong address? It might save some other sucker a long walk......
No. It all seemed par for a lousy day. While i was waiting on the bus to go downtown, my attorney returned my call from last night. She said that since the landlord had accepted my payments I should be fine, but she also thought the court would simply dismiss my case this morning. I was surprised since they gave me a hearing date instead. All of this nonsense is a waste of my time as well as the jerk landlord's, but they asked for it by neither responding to my emails alerting them to the situation and how I planned to resolve it and jumping the gun on eviction for being one month behind in rent. If I were two or three months late, I could understand their wanting me out. Here, I think it's a case of trying to get rid of me so they can charge current higher rent to a new tenant.
-
Market rate$. Yep, you bet.
-
Nothing burns my ASS more than being given WRONG information by the very people whose job it is to be the EXPERTS on that information.
Bingo. I wanted to go in, talk to them, and fill out an application. I can download the application, but I'd rather do it with someone who hopefully can answer my questions.
-
You know what else burns my ass? I asked several friends to post on my Facebook that I was banned for 30 days. I thought that at least one of those posts would have been seen by all of my friends. Still, I get messages I cannot answer.
-
I'm up, I'm up - mail is fine this morning, and I've begun the slow process of nuking old e-mails - you have to do it in small batches or you get error messages and the last thing I want to do is muck up mail working properly. So, over the next few weeks I'll delete at least 50,000 old e-mails.
-
Had a few auditions to listen to, but I'm VERY picky. I've had one Adriana audition that I thought was in the ballpark, and I'm having that gal do one for GEE, too.

That's great, BK! Hopefully, she works out.

I had to order a new pet carrier for Thatch since I will give his old one to Stella. I assembled it, Annabelle crawled in and she won't come out.

Great news they acknowledged your payments.

I let Stella out of her cage for a bit, and she romped, chased Annabelle and Thatch, then went into the bathroom and used their litter box! Annabelle studies her, Thatch runs away.

Darn, sorry about aggravating your leg for nothing. Did you find their correct info and contact them? I had no idea you could apply for a senior reduction.

Nothing, and I hope the attorney will cancel this hearing. i've done my bit by responding. The information line at Housing this morning said if you've received a notice or a postcard you must come to court immediately. So I did. The landlord screwed up things by creating a problem and then following up too slowly. If we end up at a hearing next week, I hope they end up looking like fools.

They had no choice. Both checks had cleared the bank and I have the online statement proving it. They've created too much aggravation and at least two sleepless nights for me to be nice about the situation.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Larry, I think you've made a great deal of progress in a very short time on the eviction situation. You are to be commended for having the rent data at hand and taking immediate action. It's easy to feel flustered when hit with a crisis and then not be able function. I know that feeling well.
-
The rental housing situation is a nightmare for so many. I often feel like a second-class citizen by renting. That's not the case in all buildings, but I think it's the majority. In LA, it's next to impossible to get through by phone to the housing authority. Terribly understaffed.

I remember feeling that way, too, in certain places but not in others.
-
Nothing burns my ASS more than being given WRONG information by the very people whose job it is to be the EXPERTS on that information.
I find that very annoying, too. In many cases I think the people are so dense (or apathetic) that they don't even realize that this sort of thing is part of their job. It is!
-
A friend lives in a posh apartment in Marina del Rey. Very expensive. I once said to him that they were probably treated very nicely. Oh, yes, no argument there. But here it can be like pulling teeth to get them to fix something.
-
One friend moved into a old house here in LA. He soon discovered that there was no heat. When he informed the landlady she replied, "What? You expect luxury?" My friend contacted the housing department and they required the owner to provide a functioning heater. My friend now has heat, but it's a lot of time and aggravation to accomplish what should have been taken care of by a responsible landlord.
-
I have errands--yes, more--to run.
Vibes to all.
TTFN.
-
Good afternoon!
-
DR elmore--I'm glad to hear how much progress you've made and hope everything goes smoothly in court.

Oh my GAWD, so many idiots in the Facebook groups of the "so you grew up in" variety are AS DUMB AS ROCKS.
I now think this type of Facebook group, in particular, attracts so many (okay, this is going to sound a little mean) people of a certain age, and they're excited about having a place to reminisce about the Good Old Days, which hey, so I am in certain respects ..... BUT these are NOT computer savvy, internet savvy, social media or especially FORUM or GROUP savvy people ... and it's maddening trying get a response to something that makes any sense or that logically follows the thing it follows.
This post in itself is probably incomprehensible. Apologies. I think on this point BK is going to know pretty much what I mean. It's such a damn shame. These groups, at their best, are invaluable sources of information. And I daresay (oh yes, I dare, just try me) that 98% of the people in them have zero interest in any kind of actual information. They just type Pavlovian responses, which is probably the same way they are in regular conversation. (I told you this would be a little mean. Maybe it's a lot mean.)
Sorry, just a li'l rant based on a conversation in the Fort Lauderdale group today.

Rainy and windy right now.
DR CHAS SMITH there is a Did You Grow Up.......for my hometown and one for Greencastle where the theatre is....
Most of the posts are:
Who remembers........i.e. the Dog N Suds Root Beer Stand or the gas station on Main Street.....
The first twelve responses will be :"I do!" Followed by: "My mother's cousin worked there" or "No but there was a gas station on Indiana St." and the famous: "There was NO gas station on Main Street."
-
The subdivision I live in on the north side of my hometown.....was called the "new addition" for years by the local gentry.

Good afternoon.
-
Re rentals: The house across the street from me is a rental and has been as long as we have lived here (38 years). The landlady must be pretty bad, because no one ever stays more than one year. Except the time it was an Airbnb -- they stayed a year and a half.
-
The last renters moved out last weekend, so it sits vacant at the moment.
-
I baked 312 muffins, then I stayed to let the afternoon workers in and helped unload the truck. Then I got out; it is too crowded for me. I prefer to work alone or with one other person.

I know exactly what ChasSmith means. The biggest problems with these idiots is that they only read the initial post and NONE of the responses. So you get 100 responses, usually one word, saying exactly the same thing.

I put gas in the motor car - seventy bucks to fill it up - then picked up a package, then got some enchiladas from the Gelson's hot food bar, came home, ate them all up (they're very calorie friendly) and now I'm relaxing for a few minutes, then will do some work on the show order for the Kritzerland show, and also the Group Rep show.

Darn, sorry about aggravating your leg for nothing. Did you find their correct info and contact them? I had no idea you could apply for a senior reduction.

Interesting, thanks for the link. VIBES THIS HELPS YOU GET A BREAK!

In case you haven’t gathered lately, I am burnt out. A weekend in Houston will hopefully help.
Have a fun weekend in Houston.
-
Safe & easy travel vibes for DR John!
-
I know exactly what ChasSmith means. The biggest problems with these idiots is that they only read the initial post and NONE of the responses. So you get 100 responses, usually one word, saying exactly the same thing.
I think you get 100 responses saying exactly the same thing.

I baked 312 muffins, then I stayed to let the afternoon workers in and helped unload the truck. Then I got out; it is too crowded for me. I prefer to work alone or with one other person.
I would want out to once it got crowded.

Will it be pure R&R in Houston? I'll bet you're looking forward to that.
Going to a Van Gogh exhibition and have some barbecue.
Is it a moving Van Gogh exhibition?

Here’s a little about it.

No.

Gas in my motor car is around $35 now. Not sure, actually, since it’s been several whole days since I’ve had to fill it.
-
Serious question - is facebook etiquette that you read all prior posts before posting, even if there are so many?
-
Elmore, are you sure they're not trying to "lawyer" you out to get the apartment. It doesn't sound like they're even trying one iota to behave in good faith?

Nice.

We will be going to the exhibit in Paris. (https://www.atelier-lumieres.com/fr/)

Hi DR Jan. I hope today was a better day.
-
Well, I must be going. I'm off to usher for Fun Home.
Be back later.
-
Hi DR Jan. I hope today was a better day.
Ditto!
-
Doing better, no pain pill yet. Swelling seems to be gone. Still have week before the stitches come out.
-
Excellent. What about your jaw & ear?
-
The antibiotics make me nauseated so fortunately today is the last day for them. The only good thing about this is since I'm barely eating, I've lost 3 pounds. Jaw and ear twinge occasionally but manageable.
-
What about you, Lady Jane? Any injuries or is my jaw still protecting you?
-
Organized all the sheet music for the Kritzerland and Group Rep shows and got them to the musical director, so that's done finally.
-

I believe they want me out. I posted that earlier.
-
I was watching Midsomer Murders with Annabelle and Thatch, and Annabelle threw up all over my bedspread. I'll wash it tomorrow.
-

So far I am still protected & it is much appreciated.

I do not like them, or pain meds for that reason. Good for the manageable pain & the weight loss.

I imagine they can get a lot more for the apartment with a new renter. Obviously it doesn't make what they are doing right.

A long day and a long night of dance classes. It's getting a little hot for 2.5 hours of classes.
-
Back to A Place Called Home.
-
Hello, 1 guest!
-
Let's move on ...
-
Six!
-
What kind of dancing, John?
-
Tonight, it was helping people learn East Coast swing, rumba and cha-cha as well as tango.
-
How are you feeling, Jan?
-
I got my new glasses yesterday. I'm not sure I like them yet.
-
It's time to call it a day.
-
Good night, all.
-
I'm gonna have to come take lesson, John.
-
Why I oughta...
-
Listening to Hans Pfitzner musiche. Never heard of him, but it's quite enjoyable.
-
Why, you oughta what, Bruce?
-
THAT is the eternal question
-
This is where I was tonight
-
Vixmom, that is beautiful!
-
Doing better, no pain pill yet. Swelling seems to be gone. Still have week before the stitches come out.
Good news, jan!
-

I hate when that happens. Maybe in a few days you will be pleased with them.
-
DR Vixmom this is my favorite of all of your paintings so far. Might it find a place on a wall?
-
In the next week or so, I've got to get new glasses. My old glasses from six years ago now are useless.
-

That's lovely, Vixmom!

Funny how that happens after 6 years ;)

I just had my eye exam a couple of weeks ago, but didn't need new glasses. I still might get another pair so that I can have another spare, since it's essentially paid for. 8)
-
Thank you fur the kind words
-
I must go to bed now my ankle is hurting me
-
Tomorrow I'll have to tell the tale of why
-
I'm still coming to terms with how closely I came to death yesterday
-
I'm still coming to terms with how closely I came to death yesterday
:o What??

It was an hour long and really good.

And tonight, whole cast will be on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

I thought it was a very sweet final episode
-
I will truly miss that show.
-
Oh, good evening.
-
Hi, jan.
-
Hi, George.
-
I will truly miss that show.
So will I.
-
Hi, Tom.
-
Probably the only show on TV that can make me laugh out loud, sitting in the room by myself.
-
Well, my title was filed today.
-
Or, maybe it was my mortgage was filed today.
-
Whatever it was, it was filed today and has now been accepted by the County!
-

Yeah, thank you. Now if they would just give me the damn keys to the condo.

You still don't have keys?
