Well, you've read the notes, the notes had an incredible launch, and now it is time for you to post until the launching cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: CORDILLERA!
-
And now - Dino at the piano.
-
First post after Dino and BK.
-
Why did you ask if I knew Kris and Rich? I know he is directing MAMMA MIA.
-
Do you know their daughter?
-
That's really cool about Kritzerland's new Ben Bagley CD!
-
Why did you ask if I knew Kris and Rich? I know he is directing MAMMA MIA.
I didn't know that he was directing it.
-
Do you know their daughter?
I know who she is, but we've never actually met.
-
Then why did you ask?
-
His name is on the poster on the website.
-
Then why did you ask?
I know that Kris had worked at TLT and was just wondering if your paths had crossed, and couldn't remember if you had told me.
-
His name is on the poster on the website.
Shows you how observant I am...I never really looked through their website, just the audition page. ::)
;)
-
Kris was the stage manager for TLT’s production of IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE.

Yup. I was just went from there to the audition link: https://evergreenplayhouse.com/events/generalauditions (https://evergreenplayhouse.com/events/generalauditions)
-
Were Kris and Rich at the auditions?
-
The new CD is live at Kritzerland, BTW.
-
And George, even the best of the best forget lyrics and have bad audition days.
-
Were Kris and Rich at the auditions?
Yes. Kris was out in the lobby signing in people, taking pictures, and explaining things to us auditioners. Rich was inside with the other directors behind the big and intimidating table.
-

CD has been ordered!
-
I guess they have become very active at Evergreen.
-
Originally I thought they were going to start their own theater company down there.
-
And George, even the best of the best forget lyrics and have bad audition days.
Thanks, BK. I know...it's just never fun to go through them.
-
I guess they have become very active at Evergreen.
Yes. Kris told me that she quit her job and does theater full time.
-
Originally I thought they were going to start their own theater company down there.
It looks like they staged a coup and took over. ;)
-
Ahhhh, that was what I had heard, but I didn’t want to say anything against your friends.
-
Page 1? How unseemly!

Ahhhh, that was what I had heard, but I didn’t want to say anything against your friends.
It was (humorously?) suggested that Theater Artists Olympia attempt to take over Olympia Little Theatre...at least, their space. ;)

Okay...

It might be an improvement.

Well, George, I hope you hear back about the callbacks very soon. The waiting is always the agony.

Good night.

Thanks, Tom. It is.
-
Good night.

Well, I'm off to bed. Tonight, I'm working concessions for Menopause: The Musical. I'm sure that there will be a lot of people in the audience. A tour of the show has been here before and there will be two performances on the 988-seat main stage!
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I'm thinking of a new book to be called Thatch and the Snoop Sisters.
-
I'm seeing an allergist this morning at 10:45. It's at the same clinic where I saw Dr Keenan in July and Dr. Cohoen on Monday. Before then, I must stop at the bank, then I'll take the Broadway bus up to 96th Street and cross over to Columbus Avenue.
-
DR George, auditions for a musical with no accompanist? That's ridiculous.
-
I'm sure your audition went better than you think, but they certainly stacked the cards against your singing.
-
I always hoped that Encores! would produce Too Many Girls, since I always wanted to hear the original orchestrations. I suppose the closest we'll ever come to that is the movie version. I saw an Equity Library Theatre production of the show with pianos and some over-wrought, out of period vocal arrangements in the 1980s, but I suspect a wonderful song like "Spic 'n' Spanish" is far too problematic for today's PC mindset.

Nice title!

Yesterday, the strangest thing I've ever encountered with the NYC Animal Care Centers occurred. Adorable Brooklyn, a volunteer favorite who's been passed by for adoptions three months now, was scheduled to be killed. Dogs on the kill list have around 40 hours to be adopted or fostered before the doors close and the decisions to terminate now or postpone for another 40 hours begins. After noon yesterday, Brooklyn was still not adopted and the euthanasia command was issued around 4:00, at which time at least three potential adopters were banging on the ACC doors to take her/ Where the hell were they the past two days?
At any rate, the ACC stopped the euthanasia order, and Brooklyn was reprieved at the last minute! She's now scheduled to die tomorrow after noon. I hope one of those three people save her today. She's cat-friendly, and I would love to adopt her, but she's too large for me and my space.
This is my friend Evelyn's video:

Good morning, all.
-
Threat of thunderstorms today, and work to be done on CABARET.
-
That ACC adopting and euthanasia situation is insanity. It's a wonder there are any good outcomes at all.

Thank goodness!

That's one worry off my back. Yesterday I was living in terror that I was overdrawn by $200. I kept thinking, how did that happen? I've been keeping close tabs on my payments.
-
Great news about the car....as Joe Gillis says if you lose your car in LA it's like having your legs cut off....
New CD purchased.....I also love the TOO MANY GIRLS score....and of course when Desi went west to do the movie version.....he and Van Johnson.....met Lucille Ball.....
-
Perk purchased......
50%....where MR BK said he wanted to be by morning!
-
Allergist vibes for DR ELMORE, Thatch & the Snoop Sisters.
-
Heartening to see such an immediate and positive response to the Indiegogo campaign.
-
So, I checked my statement online, and I overlooked a paid check. I'm not overdrawn.
I still do not know how I missed it.
-
We blocked the BIG romantic scene...well the first one....last night...and Madge and Hal did very well.
I also got ALL of the SHREK photos I needed....so work will start today on the slide show....tedious and time consuming....

I guess this means he's going to work out fine in the role! Excellent.
-
Oy. Went to edit a mistake, and deleted instead!
Here it is again:
I meant to say this last night, DR Jrand68 -- I liked that SHREK ad design.
But was there really no alternative to the ANNIE shirt? :)
-
No matter how many times I say "No" to Stella, in any language I can think of, she ignores me. She's as bad as Annabelle.
-
Best news of the morning!
Indeed it is.

Call back vibes for DR George.

I've never heard this one at all, so I'm looking forward to the Bagley version.
How interesting, BTW, to hear about his inconsistencies in the Administrative and Details Department! :)
-
DR George, auditions for a musical with no accompanist? That's ridiculous.
It's beyond belief. Never heard of such a thing. It's normally forbidden to sing a cappella or with anything OTHER than the pye-ano player.
-
Want to know another thing that's beyond belief?
The fact that I just had to tell Gmail for the hundredth time that an email with the subject line "Cannabis-Oil" is... oh, you know, a little thing we like to call "SPAM".

Maybe the universe is subtly telling you to chill out? Maybe Gmail is telling you that?
If it's any comfort, Time Warner refuses to accept "erectile dysfunction" and "senior dating" as spam.

I am home from seeing the allergist, a beautiful East Indian lady, who put me through the easy test and the Big Exam. I am allergy free.

That sounds like a good title, Larry. ;D

I agree...but then, it's their theater company (they even have their own building!), so they can do what they want. ::)
-
I'm sure your audition went better than you think, but they certainly stacked the cards against your singing.
I think I stacked the cards myself. I knew that the song was low in my voice, but probably should've picked my other song (Sondheim's "Love Is In the Air"), but the karaoke version that I found was too slow, so I thought that that might not be as good. Oh, well.
-
So, I actually JUST checked my e-mail and I've been asked to call-backs for both shows! Whew! I'll do much better there! :D
-
I'm up, I'm up - seven-and-a-half hours of sleep.
-
I'll go check on the campaign now.
-
I just "liked" BK's FB posts for the campaign.
Does that help to bump them up so people keep seeing them? I've never been sure about how that works on Facebook.
-
That ACC adopting and euthanasia situation is insanity. It's a wonder there are any good outcomes at all.
She's been rescued!
HOO and RAY!! :D

I'd read (was told?) that just "liking" them doesn't do much. You should also post a message, even if it's a smilie, to have it mean something to FB's algorithms.

Yeah, you're probably right about posting being of much better help.
Speaking of FB, they could just about drop the concept of each person having a "feed", and very little would be lost. Mine's been working poorly or not at all for the past few days again.

Yes DR ELMORE I think he will work out....
Congrats to DR GEORGE on his callbacks.
However, I, too, have never heard of musical auditions without an accompanist.....and I do shows in a barn in the middle of a cornfield in Indiana.....
-
DR CHAS SMITH - I had to grab the leads when I could get them....during a rehearsal....so Donkey was wearing his shirt from last season....and I needed the photo to make the deadline for a weekly paper who always needs the story/photo early and our costumes are not arriving until the end of the week..
So....there ya are!

It was advertised that they weren't going to provide an accompanist, just a piano, so it wasn't like it was a last minute thing. :P

Well, then, they will always be amateurs in my book. Tell them to grow up. Wasn't the MD for Mama Mia there?

Wouldn't surprise me.

DR George, good news about the callbacks.

Cool! Somewhere I have a reproduction of that poster. I got it through the mail from One Shubert Alley back in the 90s.

Wow, completely allergy free. There is greater hope that your upcoming surgery will make a difference.

Here's a promo code for the audiobook of Murder at the Magic Castle - they provide these so the audiobook can get reviews. Any guinea pigs? I'm sure it's one code per person, so if someone wants to listen and review, post here, and then I can provide a new code. You can redeem at audible.com/acx-promo

So, I actually JUST checked my e-mail and I've been asked to call-backs for both shows! Whew! I'll do much better there! :D
Congratulations. Now you are familiar with their process you should be more comfortable. Good luck.
-
...and I do shows in a barn in the middle of a cornfield in Indiana.....
For some reason, that reminds me of a time when New York City had a nudity ban so the female dancers had to wear something on top - so they changed the signs from TOPLESS DANCERS to STOPLESS DANCERS.
-
Congrats on the callback, George!

Just put up a new perk - 13 great Playbills in a tattered Playbill binder (Playbills themselves are in excellent condition - one of them has Emlyn Williams' autograph on his Who's Who) - all original casts (no replacements) - Cabaret, Barefoot in the Park, Don't Drink the Water, Fiddler on the Roof, Man of La Mancha, Wait Until Dark, Forty Carats, Her First Roman, Maggie Flynn - and priced to move, baby! Check it out.

From my friend Henri Campo:

Does anyone have an opinion on which show I should see in London?
Mama Mia
The Book Of Mormon
Come From Away
Heartbeat Of Home-Riverdance
Only Fools And Horses The Musical
Tina - The Tina Turner Musical

Hello, everyone.
-
After a busy day of hairdresser and errands, I called my insurance company with what I thought would be a ten-minute question. Forty-five minutes!! This woman was sooo sllooooowww! Then she wanted to know if LA is on the ocean and do I live near the ocean. And what's the weather like today? I think they're told to be friendly and chatty, but I could do without it. The reps there are usually very good--but not this one! Ugh!
-
Does anyone have an opinion on which show I should see in London?
Mama Mia
The Book Of Mormon
Come From Away
Heartbeat Of Home-Riverdance
Only Fools And Horses The Musical
Tina - The Tina Turner Musical
I'd choose COME FROM AWAY, but don't you have a favorite?
-
Pleased to see so much enthusiasm for the Indiegogo.
-
George, like the others, I felt you probably did better than you think. Vibes you're happy with the callbacks.
-
I now need to call the insurance company back with my second question.

TTFN.

We are meeting people one day and one of those people is pushing for us to go to the theater. I would rather spend more time visiting.
The guy pushing said Phantom, which we do not want to see again, or Mama Mia which we have never seen. I thought the others I listed worth asking about.
Years ago we saw Riverdance and we wouldn't mind seeing the dancers again.
-
Hmmm, the guy is Canadian. Maybe he has seen COME FROM AWAY. I should ask.

I honestly don't get the joke about cats not coming when called. My cats weren't always good about coming when called, especially if they were outside playing. Most the time the cat I called came. Sleeping dogs didn't always come either-lol

If I was in London again, I'd probably want to see something that was uniquely British. Mamma Mia, The Book Of Mormon, Come From Away and Tina - The Tina Turner Musical are shows that either have been around a long time, or will be. I don't know Only Fools And Horses The Musical. I personally might be interested in that and Heartbeat Of Home-Riverdance (I loved the original Riverdance show).

Excellent point about something native, though you have also seen Mama Mia ;)
-
One advantage of Heartbeat Of Home for me is that I don't need to hear what they are saying.
-
It looks different than the original Riverdance.

Good evening, all.

It's been a long day, with the funeral, the burial and a get-together back at Jim's house.
-
I then harvested all of about 2 cups of olives, which are currently in a water cure. I have to change the water every day for the next 10 days.

Having dinner while watching a horror mess called What Ever Happened to Aunt Alice? with Geraldine Page, Ruth Gordon and Rosemary Forsyth. Released only because Robert Aldrich produced it. It belongs in his Baby Jane/Sweet Charlotte catalog.

Yes. But since I am no longer on Facebook, I don't know how to get a photo onto the site.

Come From Away: my friend who is one of the producers says the British company is the best.
-
Since i've been reading Kenneth Williams' diaries, the cats and I watched Carry On Abroad tonight. Very 70s London and lots of bawdy situations, double entendre, and mugging. I laughed a lot.
-
DR John G, I love Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte and Whatever Happened To Baby Jane? a lot, but I think Aunt Alice is a mess and Geraldine Page pretty lousy in it. I love Ruth Gordon.
-
Jan's funeral service today was wonderful. One of her sons, a Presbyterian minister, was able to give the homily (I don't think that's often allowed in Catholic churches) and he did a masterful job. The rest of the family also got up and spoke. It was very touching.

Thank you. It is possible we can't even get tickets for Heartbeat of Home. My suggestion was well received. I think he didn't know what it was and missed it.

It is a 9/11 musical with comedy in it.

69%! One more percent and we're 2/3 of the way to our goal, at which point it would be good to cover fees and go above, if possible. The more we raise, the more extras and fun stuff.
-
I will try, Jane.
Thanks. I am curious what they look like. I suppose I could find a photo online but they wouldn't be your olives.

Starting Jean Renoir's On Purge Bebe, his first sound film. It's less than an hour long and it's very stage-bound. Renoir was hired by the playwright, Feydeau, to film his play as is.
-
I'm beginning to fade and yet I need to stay up for another hour or so. I have just been able to get laundry in the washer and need to get it into the dryer in a bit.
-
73%! That's what I'M talkin' about.
-
Back from Ralph's - I am now fully stocked, drink-wise - nice sale - three twelve-packs for ten bucks. Got three Diet Coke twelve-packs, and then combined three random twelve-packs to make the other three - Diet Canada Dry Ginger Ale, Diet A&W Root Beer, and Diet Dr. Pepper.
-
Wow, a 1931 French comedy about laxatives and slop jars. What a slog On Purge Bebe was.
-
Congratulations, George, on the callbacks.
Thanks, John!

And here's the second (of two):

Thanks for posting the photos, George.
-
Good night, all.
-
I'm sure you all have them, but I just put up one copy each of the long OOP Kritzerland releases for Anya, Illya Darling, and the two-CD Sugar.
-
About Come From Away, I probably posted this before, but the original music director for the pre-Broadway Seattle production was a guy from Olympia named Ian. I've known him since he was in elementary school and did children's theater with the late Kids At Play summer program!
-
I remember seeing You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown that he directed AND music directed AND played the piano for when he was in eighth grade! He had talent galore even at that age! After college (I don't know where), he eventually became the resident music director at Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre!
-
Before Come From Away, he was the music director in Seattle and on Broadway for A Christmas Story.
-
Thanks for posting the photos, George.
My pleasure. Concessions was kind of a madhouse, but it turns out (and I forgot) that there's no intermission for Menopause: The Musical, so after we cleaned up, we were done.
-
I'm now sitting in the lobby, listening to the show through the speakers, posting and waiting for the show to end. I'm sticking around because I'm driving Margo home. I'll usher for it tomorrow, so I'll see it then. :)

Thanks for posting the photos, George.
Yes, thank you. In my mind they were black.
-
DR John will the oluves change in their appearance at all by the end of this process?

That explains the photos far earlier than I expected.

Page six? Really?
-
74%! I might be persuaded to put up some videos from the Kritzerland show if we were to get to 75% - oh, yes, I just might be persuaded.
-
Well, since we're so close...
-
Good evening.

Does anyone have an opinion on which show I should see in London?
Mama Mia
The Book Of Mormon
Come From Away
Heartbeat Of Home-Riverdance
Only Fools And Horses The Musical
Tina - The Tina Turner Musical
My first choice would certainly be COME FROM AWAY, especially after reading Larry’s comment about the London company.
-
Hi, Tom.
-
However, you have a good point about not needing to hear the dialogue with HEARTBEAT OF HOME. IT LOOKS FANTASTIC!
-
Personally, I would probably skip HEARTBEAT OF HOME, because I can only take so much dancing before I tune out.
-
Congratulations, George, I knew you did better than you thought.
-
I have to be up very early tomorrow, so....
-
Congratulations, George, I knew you did better than you thought.
Thanks, Tom. But I don't think I did better than I thought...I think I just got the sympathy callback. ;)
-
But both pug and Rich know me, so they know I can do better. I can and will!
-
.....Good night!
-
Good night, Tom.
-
78% and we have videos. Perhaps I'll put up more if we have the same kind of day tomorrow because if we do have the same kind of day we'd actually reach our goal - wouldn't that be amazing?
