I'm not an expert on wine, and have no experience with Indian cuisine. (I'm equally inexperienced with native American dishes.)
However, zipping over to Dornenberg and Page's
What to Drink with What You Eat, you might want to consider the following types of wine:
Beaujolais or Beaujolais-Villages
Merlot (esp. with chicken)
Pinot Noir
Rose (esp. with spicy dishes)
Shiraz/Syrah
Avoid fine wines, wines with high alcohol, high tannins, and oakey wines.
They also suggest Champagne, particularly of the rose varieties. Bubbles should match those spices quite nicely!
