I'm guessing that the audience for cable has expanded greatly since the years of REMEMBER WENN. A lot more people now have access to channels they didn't have access to then.

I've seen a lot of bad productions of stuff, but to answer what would be the worst musical and play I've ever seen they would be as follows, (there may have been worse, but memory has kindly blotted them from my mind):

PLAY: JACK (I think that was its name), a one-man atrocity committed by Nicol Williamson playing John Barrymore at the Geffen Playhouse. Tripe, tritely written and inadequately performed by Williamson. One of the most masturbatory, self-indulgent, sloppy exhibitions I've ever seen. Mr. Williamson's contempt for his audience was manifestly reflected in his slipshod, "don't-give-a shit" performance. I think I've ranted on this before. A disservice to the memory of John Barrymore.

As far as musicals go, though I saw it on cable and not in the theatre...the David Hasselhoff JEKYLL/HYDE was one throbbing embarrassment. Bad play, bad performances, rotten music and lyrics.

I also saw the premiere of A DOLL'S LIFE, at the Ahmanson, the story of Nora after she closed the door in Ibsen's A DOLL'S HOUSE. I remember it as being pretty inervating.
