Well, you've read the notes, you've spoiled the notes, the notes have spoiled you, and now it is time for you to post until the spoiled cows come home.

Beautiful bird photo, DR Tomovoz!
What is his/her name? As for birds, usually males have much, much more beautiful feathers than females do, don’t they?

This is a male "King Parrot". The female bird does not have the red colouring on her head.  Not all of them are this friendly. They are less shy than many other birds.

I usually don’t have soup much, because it makes me full before a main dish.  I sometime make Minestrone and French Onion soup for light dinner and I have them (individually, not together) with Garlic Bread, regularly.  And any kind of Miso soup will be fine all the time.

Now I have a dumb question....is that a picture of Michael Ball and SOMEONE in a baseball cap - or is that Michael Ball in a baseball cap....or....I can't figure it out.  The Michael Ball looks like a theatre poster, I am confused.  I know...I know....

I love Chicken Noodle Soup by Campbell's.  MMMMMMMMM.mmmmm good.

I also like the Cream of Chicken and Cream of Celery Soup.

My mom did NOT make a lot of soups.  Chili and stew yes, but soup came from a can.

I listen to the Radio Show every week. I love it. It's part of my weekly auditory experience. The BBC and Donald. What a pair!!! I don't comment on the show every week but I do listen every week. This week's show is very good, lots of funny stories. The falling off stage story and the related story involving Priscilla Lopez (not our own Cillaliz) is lots of fun. There are also good numbers from Stages.

I like Minestrone soup but I think my favorite is Split Pea Soup. A bowl of Cream of Tomato and a hot grilled cheese sandwich would not be turned down either.

I'm all alone right now. I won't frenzy but I will return.

Good morning, all!  This morning we ship the performance materials off to Chicago and I go back to Toyland via the NYPL Theatre Collection.  On Nov 7, Tom Murray is back in town and our final edit of BABES IN TOYLAND continues.

DRJose, while you are in DC, would you please be so kind to check for National Theatre programs from Sept 1903 for me?

Tomorrow night, a small group of us will assemble around 6:30 on 42nd Street for a performance of Stephen Schwartz' CAPTAIN LOUIE.  I look forward to seeing everyone for the first time in three weeks.

My mother made fantastic potato soup.  I make good vegetable beef soup and an okay chicken soup.

DRJed, three summers with THE SOUND OF MUSIC?  Were you in the show?  What role?  Speculations are endless.

If you're able to listen to Donald regularly, your Donald quotient will go up soon, according to the Broadway Radio Show. He'll be doing another show at www.broadwayworld.com

How exciting!

I'm also looking forward to Captain Louie tomorrow (and to seeing the NY gang). It will be the first performance of the show. They were supposed to begin this evening but according to Playbill On-Line, some technical issues made them move a day later.

Well, maybe I won't be listening to Donald's new show when it plays. I just went over to Broadway World and I can't get their radio show to play on my computer. I can listen to radio all over the world but Broadway World doesn't seem to want to work here. I've tried all the alternative methods. Oh, well. I'll try again when Donald signs on.

Soup of the day:

My favorite soup is French Onion Soup, and they make a great one at Pigalle, which is on 8th Avenue at 48th Street, but you must make sure to ask for extra cheese (that cuts the calories of those fattening onions  :) )

As far as French onion soups go, my all-time favorite was at a restaurant at the Riviera Hotel in Las Vegas, where they served the onion soup right in a hollowed out very large half-onion.  But that was in 1989, and when I went back to find that restaurant two years ago, it wasn't there, so that onion soup remains a great memory.  Still, the one at Pigalle fills the bill quite nicely.

I also like a good lobster bisque, and the best of those was from Legal Seafood in Boston.

Good Morning!

I'm up.  I'm up.

...And I'm keeping my leg elevated... :-\

I ended up falling asleep last night on the living room while watching the World Series...  I believe Chicago did win... I remember lots and lots of cheering...  Then a rerun of "Friends" came on... Then I tried to get off the couch to head downstairs to my bed...  Well...

YOWZIE!

So...  I managed to make it down the stairs - treading very carefully - set up my bed, put some pillows at the foot of the bed so that I could keep my feet elevated, etc...

I actually slept rather well.   My knee does feel better this morning, and I think I'll take my plan of action today from the fact that "It only hurts when I move it".  Unfortunately, I do have the sense that all the moving around I did yesterday probably strained whatever is strained.  Fortunately, due to the various injuries that my brothers incurred while playing sports, there a couple of pairs of crutches in the basement; so if I need to head out... or even just around the house.

But I've had my breakfast already, and I made it up the stairs with no major twinges.  So...  Guess it will be a good day for surfing, chatting and reading.

I'm SO sorry. I would have been glad to burn you a DVD if I had only known, but last night since L&O was a rerun, I watched INVASION live and recorded CSI: NY. (Ordinarily I watch L&O live and record INVASION and skip CSI so I can catch it in reruns.)

Again, I'm sorry I can't accommodate.

Yesterday, after getting my hair cut, I roasted a turkey.  We've had the birds on sale at the store this week, and der B decided to pick up a couple so I could practice.  The bird was quite juicy and tender, and delish.  When we've finished carving down the carcass, I'll be making turkey stock.

As for soups, I tend to be haphazard when I make them.  Depending on what's in my larder, I usually toss some chopped up chicken thighs or breasts into chicken broth, add some onion, carrot and celery, and either noodles or rice.  Some herbs get added to the pot, I let it all cook through, and serve with nice crusty bread.  (No, that is not an oxymoron.  Bread can be nice and crusty at the same time; it's people who have a problem being both.)

More on soup:

How could I forget to mention my own mother's matzoh ball soup, which recipe she got from my grandmother?  Quite excellent.

Topic of the Day...

MINESTRONE - Both the traditional tomato-based variety, and the not-so-traditional "white" minestrone - it's either vegetable or chicken-broth based, but no tomatoes.  Cannellini beans, zucchini, onions, pasta, etc., and chicken, if desired.

French Onion - I used to order French Onion whenever I would see it on a menu, but a couple of years ago, I became salt-sensitive.  -Not that my body was salt-sensitive, but my tastebuds became really attuned to salt. So, a lot of those "fake" French Onion soups began to turn me off the stuff - just way too much salt.  -But I'll never pass on that crouton topped with melted cheese.

;)

Otherwise, a good, simple chicken soup always hits the spot for me - with matzoh ball soup being my preferred methode lately.

Title: Re:SPOILING THE BROTH

When I was in college, I went through a "Campbell's Phase".  I just started trying some of the other cans on the shelf that I normally would not put into my shopping cart.  -Especially when they would have those "10 for $3.00" Sales!

Chicken with Noodles, Chicken with Rice, Chicken with Stars, etc. - all of which I would normally just eat the "solids" rather than the broth.  Vegetable (with the Alphabet noodles), Vegetable Beef, Minestrone, etc...

And then there were things like Pepper Pot - which I'm not sure is even made anymore.  -Or maybe it's a regional, Southern thing.  Very flavorful, but reading the ingredients always made me cringe a little bit.  -But I guess it's sort of like an American version of Vietnamese pho.

And then there were all those Chunky Soup varieties - Sirloin Burger sticks in my head right now.

I was never a fan of the "Cream of" soups from the can, and when I did buy them, I would use them in other recipes.  -And I guess Campbell's realized that a lot of other people were doing the same since they changed the labels for most of their "Cream of" soups to more of a Recipe Helper - or whatever term they use.

...And I'm guessing it was shortly after my "Cambell's Phase" that my tastebuds "rebelled" and became salt sensitive.   -It really is amazing just how much sodium the canned stuff contains!  -And since I would usually have one can, and the can would serve two... Thereby fulfilling my USDA recommended amount of sodium for three days in one fell swoop.  -And a couple of slurps.

For professionally made soups, I really prefer French Onion.

But all of the soup that I eat around here is from cans. I've become very fond of the Campbell's Chunky soups over the last year or so. Right now, I love the Sirloin Burger soup. In fact, I had some two nights ago. Progresso makes a wonderful Grilled Steak soup that is also very good for canned soup.

I think I mentioned the last time we talked soup that my local grocery store canned a variety of soups under its own label, and that the one I had grown most fond of, Tomato Garden, had dropped off the production list. That is still the case, sad to say.

Looking forward to DARLING LILI at some point today (though I also have that documentary on the career of Hermes Pan to watch, too).

I read there is an overture and exit music on the DVD. I guess the movie was originally planned as a roadshow feature (and there is an overture on the DARLING LILI LP), but there was certainly no overture when I saw the film on its opening day here. Maybe it played with an Overture at its premiere in NYC.

Veni

Vidi

and I grokked it all!

Vegetable beef soup was a favorite growing up.  My mom made it from a bunch of leftovers plus a few ingredients she bought specially for it.

Always served with cornbread, too!

I LOVE SOUP!

I have favorite soups at favorite eateries.  At Shan Dong, the Szechuan place I love, it's a sweet-and-sour that kicks all other sweet-and-sours' butts.

At Cuckoo's Nest, a spicy tomato soup served with a brie and sourdough toast.

At Big Apple: New York Deli, the chicken gumbo soup is sheer heaven.

I also love stews....Brunswick stews.

What I always say is:

LET THEM EAT SOUP!

What do you always say?

Percy Faith does a perfectly delicious version of "Happy" (Theme from Lady Sings the Blues) on one of his very best late-career albums, Clair.

Veni, vidi, vici department:  Latin-philes know that the "v" is actually pronounced like a "w," which my Latin teacher humorously pointed out makes Caesar's pronouncement seem less......manly.  :)

Matzoh ball soup department:  DS Betsy used to marvel at her Grandma's Matzoh ball soup and thought she had some super-secret recipe handed down through the ages.  It turned out it was, of course, the Manischewitz (sp?) mix.   ;D

Another hilarious Betsy's Grandma story:  Betsy was visiting her bubbe at the retirement home.  Now, Betsy's grandma lived to the grand old age of 98, so she was not in the best of health or able to do much.  So she turns to Betsy and says, "Betsy, can you help me brush my teeth?"  Betsy of course says "Yes," and goes into the bathroom to get the toothbrush and toothpaste, thinking that Grandma will open her mouth and Betsy will do the "dirty work."  She returns to find (yes, you've probably guessed it), Grandma proferring her dentures toward Betsy.  Portable teeth, as it were.  ;)

I'll happily jump on the French Onion bandwagon, though I really only get it for the crouton(s) and cheese. I'll eat the broth, but I rarely eat the actual onions.

I'm also a HUGE fan of cream-based soups - particularly cream of broccoli. Any variation of the corn chowder sort is up my alley, too.

Can gumbo be considered a soup? If so, count me in on that one, too!

My parents are arriving today with my aunt and uncle in tow. They get in this afternoon and leave Tuesday morning. Taking a page from DR Jose's Walking Tour of New York Handbook, I have created an itinerary that will make their heads spin. Dinner reservations have been made for the next five evenings (with Becco - my new favorite restaurant - as the piece de resistence), tickets have been purchased for three - count 'em, THREE! - shows, and my walking shoes are ready to go. I'm leaving the office at 3:00 today so I can get home and make my bed and vacuum one more time before my mother sees my apartment. She didn't get to see the place last time they were here, so I have to make a good impression...

DR Jose: Hope your knee feels better!! Take care...

DR Ben: I'm sorry I can't make THE BIRDS tonight. I'll be supping on seafood as the seagulls sup on Tippi Hedron. It's the end of the world!!

And to all you HHWers out there going to see CAPTAIN LOUIE tomorrow night - have fun! I saw the show when it was the York and I know someone in the cast. That's all I'll say for now - I'll let you form your own opinions before I share mine. I will be seeing JERSEY BOYS tomorrow night...pray for us in the hours of our need.

Thursday greetings.  If I didn't have a commitment tonight to eat spaghetti with 60 ministers and then speak to them for 20-30 minutes about faith-based funding, I'd have called in sick.  My cold has developed into a doozy, so I guess I'll spend my 4-day weekend sneezing and coughing :P

Vibes to DR Ann - I don't know what's worse:  knowing what you're walking into or getting it when you least expect it (that's happened to me a couple of times recently).  Anyway, hope it turns out OK for you.

DR Danise - loved the photos!  I do have the map I was tracing as we toured and will try to scan it for you.

Jose, maybe you should get a knee brace.  They also have those Icy Hot Medicated Sleeves.  I used that on my ankle and all I can say is that it went down pretty fast.

Also I buy "Blue Goo" at Walmart for my Mom's wrist when it hurts her.  She broke it many years ago and it bothers her now and then.

That will be one of my errands, DR Danise.  I was hoping to find a spare roll of Ace Bandage upstairs, but no such luck.  And I'm guessing some Icy-Hot and/or one of those new-fangled patches too.  We'll see.

My brother, Jay, helped me stretch out earlier, and that helped a lot.  The whole 'thing' is definitely more tight that sore, so... We'll see.  If things seems to progress for the worse while I'm out, I'll swing by my uncle's office.  He's a doctor.

I'm sorry to hear about your cold DR Ginny but I'll look forward to the map.  I've been sneezing quite a bit.  I think a lot of the problem is that it got so cold so quickly that my body didn't have time to adjust.  I don't worry about me as much as my Mom--she can't take the cold.

BISQUE - can be pronounced:  BK

All references I've found have only "bisk" as a pronunciation.

From what I gather, it has different meanings depending on what your experiences with bisque are.

Perhaps that's why BK's car has BISQUE on its license plate...he's a riddle inside a mystery wrapped up in an enigma.  He's a human bisque....

BISQUE can be pronounced BK???  The BISQUEmobile was black, as I recall.

But, Jose is so close - what CAN be pronounced BISQUE are my complete initials (or Benjamin Kritzer's complete initials): BSK.

Now, who can figure out what my second personal plate meant: HEYLIG

Oh....GODSPELL update.

I had a great time with the kids last night.  They learned the signs to DAY BY DAY in about 20 minutes, and then we blocked the song in another 20 minutes....with a few refinements, of course.  Isn't that always the way?

So I stayed and watched as they rehearsed the parables which were staged in a clever and interesting way thanks to my friend Vickie.

I think I may have to go see this production.  And of course it was nice to see my young friends from PIPPIN who all came up to talk to me, and most of whom decided to wear their PIPPIN t shirts to rehearsal last night since they knew I was coming!

Talk of circles reminds me of the great Bacharach-David song from LOST HORIZON:  The world is a circle without a beginning and nobody knows where it really ends.

Which MAD parodied in LEAST HORIZON as :  The world is a rhomboid without a circumference and nobody knows what this simile means.

At Yeshivah of Flatbush High, the MAD parody became an unofficial math class anthem.

No point, just circle talk reminded me of that.  :)

I would like to say I set it up that way but it was a total accident.  He was leaving and I (like many others) was just hiting the shoot button on the camera as many times as I could to try to get a good picture of him.

My camera takes so long to cycle between shots that I miss many great shots.  That was one thing I LOVED about the new camera I'm looking at getting.  It has a rapid shot feature that I tried at the store and it took about 20-25 photos so fast it scared me.

I guess I should post some of the photos that didn't turn out to give an idea as to how many I had to sort through.  Backs of head, out of focas, etc, etc.

I always love a good French Onion soup.

My favourite soup of late is Chicken Tortilla Soup.  Wolfgang Puck makes a nice one.  And at my and BK's favourite new restaurant, BIRDS, they make a nice Chicken Tortill Soup.  The Stonehouse Restaurant at the San Ysidro Ranch in Monteceito (The best restaurant I've ever eaten at) used to make a good one.

The Lovely Wife makes excellent home-made soups upon occasion...chicken, beef, or turkey.  Very heart and filling.

Most lamented soup...Campbell's used to make a soup I loved...called Tomato Beef...it disappeared many years back and I've never seen it again.

TOD from the other day:  Motown Favs...Anything by Mary Wells or Smokey Robinson and The Miracles.  Jamie by Eddie Holland.  Ask the Lonely by the Four Tops.

BK question...Are you doing a signing at Mystery & Imagination sometime soon?

DRJason, have a great visit!

DRJed, three summers with THE SOUND OF MUSIC?  Were you in the show?  What role?  Speculations are endless.

Yes, three summers of SoM... enough to drive you plain batty!  I did six seasons (1998-2003) with a summer stock company in central Washington.  They do three shows in rep each year, with SoM being part of the mix every year, due to the town being a Bavarian-themed tourist trap in a beautiful mountain setting (outdoor theatre).  Over the years, I was roped into SoM three times; twice as human scenery as a Nazi and party guest, and one summer I was stage manager for the show.  SoM is their cash cow, with many folks who travel from all around the state to see it every freakin' year, but I had better times there acting in Fiddler, Student Prince, Brigadoon, Music Man, My Fair Lady, Man of La Mancha, and South Pacific.  They also hired me on one year as vocal director for La Mancha and 7 Brides, after being asst vocal director for Fiddler and Brigadoon.  Many of my best friends were found through my years there... good times!

OMG, I MUST see this commercial!!! I'm going to have to park myself in front of the television tonight and watch something in an effort to see it.

Jason, we won't be seeing The Birds tonight. Anthony is workign at ActorFest this Saturday. It's a day long "conference" for actors where they can come and schmooze and network (I hate that word) and find out about classes and photographers, etc. He will be sitting at his Dance Teacher's booth promoting the class. She wants to meet with him this evening to talk about who/what/where/when/why (the 5 Ws of Journalism). Since he's doing that and we're going to the theatre tomorrow, I'm going to do the laundry tonight instead. That way, we will have the entire weekend to ourselves. I went home for a quick bite (no, I didn't bite myself you funnies) and then since he wasn't home I decided to visit an old haunt, Academy. Haven't been there in a while. I picked up Songs for My Father. It's a "tribute" CD by Heather MacRae recorded live at Eighty Eights (the great, late lamented 88s, what a great place). She sings songs done by her father in films. So far I like it a lot!

The commercials are appearing on broadcast television series like "Ghost Whisperer," "Medium" and "Two and a Half Men" as well as during cable reruns of shows like "Crossing Jordan," "Law & Order" and "Will & Grace." Thanks for the link, DR DtM:  the following quote is ten times funnier than the commercial.

Mr. Lithgow is "someone who represents fine taste, quality, the essence of the brand, but will not be elitist, better than thou or a snob," said Ed Maslow, senior vice president and senior creative director at BBDO New York.

The commercials are appearing on broadcast television series like "Ghost Whisperer," "Medium" and "Two and a Half Men" as well as during cable reruns of shows like "Crossing Jordan," "Law & Order" and "Will & Grace." I guess I'll have to start watching Will and Grace again. I haven't watched for well over a year. I don't watch the reruns all the time because they seem to get to the bad seasons so quickly. From my perspective the bad seasons began during the Woody Harrelson arc. It all goes downhill from there IMHO.

Catch the world premiere of Meet Me In Miami, staring Carlos Ponce, Eduardo Verastegui and Tara Leniston

The Egyptian Theatre
6712 Hollywood Blvd
Hollywood, CA
10/29/2002
7:30 PM

Tickets can be purchased at www.latinofilm.org.

Original Score, Title Song and Additional Featured Song by Misha Segal.  That's the guy who wrote the music from "POTO"--the movie --I liked.

No suprise that I can't make it but I thought maybe some of you in the area might be interested.

I wonder if Carlos Ponce is any relation to Poncie Ponce????

I guess I'll have to start watching Will and Grace again. I haven't watched for well over a year. I don't watch the reruns all the time because they seem to get to the bad seasons so quickly. From my perspective the bad seasons began during the Woody Harrelson arc. It all goes downhill from there IMHO.

Things were up last season...but this season, thus far, it's grim.

I guess one major difference would be Stan Freberg is a creative advertising man, and David Lachapelle is a video director with experience at MTV.

And as I said yesterday, Annie Miller seemed to be in on the joke.

Ms Miller's commercial had style and panache.  Another sledgehammer comment.

According to Heather MacRae one of the actors tested for the role of Curly in the film version of Oklahoma (I just typed Oklahomo, is that a Freudian slip or what???) was JAMES DEAN. As she said, Cowboy Without a Cause. She said her mother, Sheila, saw the screen test and said he was excellent.

This afternoon, I got around to watching the Hermes Pan documentary DANCE CRAZY IN HOLLYWOOD.

It was a dreadful piece of work consisting mostly of some film clips, not always of dances choreographed by Hermes (like an Eleanor Powell tap routine which went on very long and yet in voiceover Hermes admitted he never worked with her, looked like it was taken from the 1949 silver anniversary party at MGM; a Bojangles Robinson soudie he had nothing to do with, etc.). All the clips used were full frame, even if the films like CAN-CAN, CLEOPATRA, SILK STOCKINGS were widescreen films thus ruining our being able to really appreciate the dancing. And he really had very little to say: a gaffe he made talking with George Gershwin about how awful his song "Shall We Dance" was, explaining how great Rita Hayworth and Cyd Charisse were as dancers (like we didn't know they were), explaining his theory on the different ways that white folks and black folks mark time.

It was made by a French company in 1990, and you could tell that arthritis was affecting his walking and being able to manipulate several fingers on each hand.

I will never again have disdain for the documentaries on our DVDs when I see what an utter mess was made of this golden opportunity to get one of the giants from the golden age of Hollywood to talk about those times and his work. This documentary was done in a haphazard and incomprehensible way; at the least the DVD documentaries we often find fault with are organized and focused. I wish this one had been.

Then I watched CSI: NY. They've brought in a new forensic scientist, and I like her. She should fit well into the mix of personalities on the show, even if the show is a distant third in interest compared to the other two CSI shows.

Oh, those mentioning WILL & GRACE, tonight's episode is a rerun from last season, a funny one particularly with Will forced into "chaparoning" Grace's date, and the funny repercussions for him.

Jack's story involves his pursuit of bird watcher Luke Perry. He's called "the hot gay nerd" by Jack and Karen. Could have been funny, but the writers blew their chance.

Good Afternoon!

Well...  My knee is still a bit twingey, but I'm managing.  -Getting in and out of the car, however, takes quite the effort - and planning.  I started laughing at myself the first time I was getting into my car - it really was becoming quite the production number.  -Not unlike those John Lithgow Campbell Soup commercials.

;)

I ended up having lunch with my friend, Daniel.  He just got a new dog - a miniature schnauzer, or something like that.  To me, he looks like mini-dachsund with longer legs and pointy ears.  Very cute, and very well-behaved.  Oh, and his name is "Cobalt".

:)

After lunch, I headed over to CVS to pick up some supplies: soap, knee brace, Thermal Care knee-wrap, and some Icy-Hot ointment.  Covering all the bases.  I have the knee-brace on right now, and I guess it's helping.  I'll probably switch to the Thermal Care wrap in a bit.

Hmmm...

So there's a whole series of those Campbell Soup commercials...  I think I've only seen one so far.

Hmmm...

What amazes me the most about them is that they look like they were done on the cheap.  Bad lighting.  Bad costume choices - that white and gold tux on Mr. Lithgow - ugh!  Even the syncing of the soundtrack and Mr. Lithgow's mouth is off.  -Although, I did suspect that David Yazbek was the composer.

The article says the commercial is part of a $20 Million dollar campaign.... WOW?!?!?!?

DR Jose, I hope that knee brace and IcyHot ointment helps.  You may have to baby that knee for a few days and try to keep any major weight off of it--like that heavy keyboard you were talking about.  You don't think you might have done some damage when you lifted that things, do you?

Today, I got "Hidalgo" and "Friends: Season 8"....but the 5-season order for "Friends" was shipped much later than the items ordered after that order was placed.

Still, I'll probably get those tomorrow!

Well, since I'm trying to be nice to my knee, I'm gonna go ahead get ready for bed now.  And do a little stretching too.  *It does feel a lot better right now, but I know that rest and sleep will do a lot more good.

Goodnight.

Thank you one and all and also all and one for all the vibes.  They were much appreciated.  Sadly, things at work actually turned out worse than I'd feared...and I have a suspiscion that it's not over yet.  I'm not yet in danger of losing my job or anything...I just really need to watch my back, because they'll be watching my every move.  I'm still learning how to be a "boss" instead of just a worker...and this week I let a few things fall under my radar that were taboo.  And everything gets more critical when you're dealing with infants...I could kick myself for making these mistakes.  But I'm trying hard not to beat myself, and learn from them instead.  But right now it's hard...lucky for me I've got a guy who lets me cry on his shoulder and makes me chocolate pudding :)

I am keeping good thoughts for you, Ann, that all will be well.  And don't beat yourself, that is why you have Jed around.

Some of us have heard about the "Apprentice" twist, but haven't watched it yet.  I still have an hour and ten minutes.  But I'm looking forward to it!

Does anyone (else) watch Martha's "Apprentice?"  I do and I like it.  I don't enjoy it as much as Donald's (I've watched his since the very beginning).  They are pretty much the only "reality" shows that I watch...that I can think of right now.

DALING LILI looks and sounds absolutely superb on the recently released DVD. Color rendition is gorgeous, and even though I don't think the tailored suits of the period look that great on Julie, the show dresses and other leisure frocks are beautiful on her.

I'm only about an hour in, so still have a ways to go, and haven't looked at any of those deleted scenes, but so far the movie plays like a dream, and I'm enjoying it. I haven't seen it in decades.

If I had a quibble with what I've seen thus far, it's just a note of sadness that Blake Edwards didn't trust his material and inserted some of his Inspector Clouseau-style stuff (runaway wheelchair, sliding down a roof) into the film. I can't say that I didn't laugh, but I think the story is interesting enough that it shouldn't have required these antics to hold an audience.

Ann, don't beat yourself up, it's not easy to adjust to being the boss, but I'm sure you'll do fine. Just take your own advice  and learn from whatever happened and turn it around. You can do it!!!

ALIAS, well, what can I say. The various storylines are all over the map and not very interesting, but I guess I'll watch the show to the bitter end. There won't be that many more episodes to see anyway.

I'm sure the show will not last past this season.

On a totally different note.  My friend Paul and I are going to a Halloween Party Saturday night complete with costume contest etc. Keeping in mind that Paul is an excellent, yet still starving artist, does anyone have any ideas for an inexpensive but fun costume for 2 people?

CSI was a rerun tonight (which I hadn't realized until the credits came on, and I saw that they were last season's credits). I had only seen the show on its original airing, so I watched it again, and didn't remember anything about the identity of the murderer, etc. All the revelations came as total surprises.

This must have come on last season during either SOMETHING'S AFOOT or NUNCRACKERS when I was distracted with the shows enough to not concentrate much on any TV I was recording.

WITHOUT A TRACE had a gripping episode about a missing Korean girl who had clashed with her parents about wanting  to be an independent American woman rather than merely a puppet carrying out her family's wishes. Surprising ending.

When DVD Empire had a sale on horror films last week, I ordered a few favorites (though horror is one of my least favorite genres), and they came earlier this week. I'll have to decide which to include in tomorrow's media check.

SPOILER FOR TONIGHT'S APPRENTICE.

Well... Isn't each and every "Boardroom" more "shocking" and "unexpected" then the previous one?

;)

Yah but when they announce four people are gone, and there are only four in the boardroom, it doesn't leave much room for shock!  Why did they announce that anyhow?

I watch it.  There are some things I really like about Martha Stewart (she is so good at cooking, crafting, gardening ... although there is something sort of cold about her at time).

I think her apprentice show is similar, although probably not as good (no donald, no george, no carolyn).  I do love the little notes she writes each person at the end as she dismisses again.

I think both versions have similar tasks.  And i do enjoy it.  But donald trump is much tougher in the boardroom.

Hello, all...

The family has descended upon the City and all is well so far. Dinner was lovely, though as we ate dinner while listening to man playing out of his 'The Greatest Broadway Fake Book EVER' folio on his Casio keyboard, I started to think that I took them to a tacky restaurant on their first night in town. Nonetheless, the food was wonderful and the bill was just over $100 for five of us. You really can't beat that. My uncle was kind enough to pick up the bill for the lot of us. Thank you, Uncle Harold. :)

Tomorrow we have a lot to do, so I'll be heading to bed soon. On the itinerary: Ground Zero, Wall Street and the Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island. After that, dinner at Ralph's Ristorante Italiano (my parents specifically asked to go back there - they loved it when they were here in February) and then we're off to JERSEY BOYS. I'm thinking cheesecake at Roxy's after the show... We'll see.

Anywho - 'night, all!!

Okay, I evidently didn't get the correct information about tonight's "twist" on "The Apprentice!" :o It was twice as shocking as what I had thought.

Why do you want to know??
