The main thrust was about trying to be our best selves each day, not perfect people but the best we are able to be. Throughout he kept talking about a local homeless guy he has been trying to help for the past 8 years, admitting there were times when he was so sure the guy couldn't or wouldn't accept help that he gave up trying, even to the point of hiding inside when the guy came around, justifying it as not wasting time better spent on more fruitful endeavors. But kept feeling called to try and help. He had a very small victory Friday night when the guy finally entered our shelter, took a shower for the first time in years, accepted and put on clean clothes and had a meal.
