So unless I'm under oath, about Laurette Taylor: she was terrific.

Had three slices of pepperoni pizza for the meal - saved just enough calories for a sweet of some sort, so off I go to Ralph's.  The CD I just finished proofing is probably going to be the Golden Age release of the year.

Howard Goodall wrote the score to the BILB musical.  Two other shows of his that I love are The Hired Man, and Days of Hope.

Just had to share. :)

Got Beckham and Hired Man.

Movie finished. And now watching a half-hour making-of that has interviews with Hoffman, Marte Keller, William Goldman, Roy Scheider and Robert Evans.

Nice.  "Days of Hope is set in Spain in 1939, in the dying moments of the Spanish Civil War."  It's not your traditional musical, but I really love the score.

Quote
Howard was inspired to write Days of Hope by the political events occurring in Eastern Europe in the late 1980s, and was interested that the ideas of freedom and democracy would be seen differently through the eyes of a country which was just discovering their meaning. Relating this to his choice of the Spanish Civil War as a setting for his musical, he said, “I felt that that the best way to look at freedom and democracy was to look at it when it was collapsing and failing. A year ago [in 1990] everybody was writing plays about the eruption of freedom and I wanted to go back and ask questions. Why did democracy fail in Spain in 1939? What did we do to invite fascism on ourselves all over Europe?”

DR George, as a former Taco Bell fan, I submit this for your consideration:
https://www.foodandwine.com/fwx/food/trump-taco-bell-campaign-donation

F*ck.

No, sorry - most of the places on this stupid meme list that's circulating, and which was written by a COLLEGE STUDENT, and not a very bright one, have in fact donated to BOTH parties, not one.  Eat where you like.  If we boycott every place that suddenly shows up without the least bit of actual research, we may as well never go anywhere.

I'm not going to boycott a big company like that just because of political donations to trump's campaign, even as much as I dislike trump.  Several other companies, however, have contributed specifically to anti-gay legislation, and those I do boycott.  Of course, the couple that I specifically know about are places that I wouldn't go anyway, so it's easy to boycott those...and I certainly don't know about all of the companies that have contributed to anti-gay legislation, so I can't boycott what I don't know.

Costco is great for macadamia nuts. Healthy fat.

Thanks.  I have never purchased the large container there.  I will see if they have something smaller.

Costco?  Smaller??  Shirley, you jest!

Listening to another score from our big box set - this is the one people will go nuts for - twenty minutes of never before released music (the previous CD didn't have those twenty minutes and sounded like crap - this is amazing) plus this CD has a companion score - short but one everyone has been screaming for for years.

Cool!  Can you say how much you might expect it to cost?

I was surprised to learn that William Goldman didn't like the ending of the movie, which had been changed by Robert Towne. In the original script, as in the book, Hoffman's character kills Szell. Hoffman said he didn't buy that. I find the notion of forcing a former concentration camp dentist to eat jewels to be a fine example of karma. I like it.
