Der B has to be on the road (more grandladding) very early tomorrow, to get him up to the grandlad's by eight in the morning.  Same time, I have to be ready and at work for my first early shift.  Wussburgering comes early tonight.  Later, all!

I was living in Los Angeles during the 1984 Olympics and since most natives left town to avoid them there was less traffic and it was so much easier to get around.  The buses were empty and running faster and there were not nearlyas many cars on the streets.  As soon as the Olympians left, the natives came home and trafic and bus service returned to its usual mess.

We went to Disneyland just following the Olympics and there weren't any lines!! :D

I love wihen a company sends out a mailing to tell you that for your convenience and in order to give you the best  possible quality they're decreasing their services.  I just got such a notice from Adelphia, my cable provider.  Seems they're adding a few channels but taking away a lot more.  The ones they are adding seem to be most  ESPN sports channels and stuff like Fox Reality...the very thought of which makes my skin crawl.  Most of the stuff we're losing is really stuff I watch but they sounded more interesting...like BMania (bad "B" or C" films) than what's being added.  We are also losing American Life TV (formerly Goodlife channel) which showed all the old Warner detective and cowboy shows like Sunset Strip and Cheyenne, hosted by Nick Clooney.  They are also getting rid of all the Showtime, HBO, and Encore eastern-time feeds, which I quite liked...because if I flip to a movie in the middle, I knew it was going to repeat lately on the west coast or the east coast.

I would be upset too.  I wish your missing American Life and Nick Clooney would come to us.

I can remember watching the 1984 (or was 1980) Olympics with Torville and Dean's Bolero number.  I thought that it was absolutely incredible

My second favorite Olympic moment.

As I recall, the real difference between Effie and Deena is that Deena "was always the glamorous one."

In the song that leads up to Effie's Act I finale, Deena (I think) mentions that Effie has been getting fatter which she denies. But I guess some words could be changed.

Tonight was Glenn Close's swan song on the season finale of THE SHIELD, and it has been a very memorable season for her. She should definitely be Emmy nominated and for my money win the award for her work as Monica Rawling.

Never did get around to NIGHTMARE ALLEY today but definitely tomorrow. I finished up THE PETRIFIED FOREST and also watched Sunday's CROSSING JORDAN rerun.

I'll be getting my JOAN CRAWFORD COLLECTION on Thursday. Tomorrow, in addition to NIGHTMARE ALLEY, I'll have the season premiere of the hilarious RENO 911! to watch off the DVR.

I plan to watch tonight's "Reno 911" season premiere.  I just bought the uncensored complete season two!  It's not completely uncensored, though.  According to the DVD packaging, "These DVDs feature uncensored language not featured in the original broadcast.  All blurs remain intact."

Damn! ;)

When I got home today, a package was waiting for me!  Last month I ordered two copies of The New Christy Minstrels' "The Wandering Minstrels" CD (one for me and one for my sister) from deepdiscountcd.com.  (On another order, they cancelled two of the three CDs that I had ordered!  How rude! >:()  Anyway, I got an e-mail on June 3rd that it had been shipped, but I just received it today.  As long as I get it, I'm not as concerned about how long it takes to get it.  I'm listening to it and it's wonderful.  It also has 10 (count 'em, 10!) bonus tracks!

Of course, it sounds so much better than my parents' vinyl album did (they got it in the 1960s).  A couple of years ago, I bought my own copy on eBay.  That sounded much better than my parents' copy, but still not as good as this CD. ;D

Rodzinski, you said that you want the album just to have it, but do you have the CD?

Now, I enjoy heat. I am not someone who complains about hot weather, but here it is not even officially summer, and is weirdly, oppressively hot. Oven-like. Hard to convey, exactly. I've been through hot spells. I've built swimming pools in Atlanta, you may recall. But right now, right here in Manhattan, USA, you walk outside and it is like a continuous hot wind just beating you into submission.

I don't have The Wandering Minstrels. It is the one NCM LP that has evaded my grasp. Once, I even found the cover and when I went to make the purchase I looked inside and it was a Tony Bennett album in there or something. Maybe Jerry Vale.  Cruel.  Though I have nothing against Jerry Vale. And now you mention bonus tracks. Hmmm....

Maybe you should take off all of your clothes and stand in front of an open window................ Oh, wait!  Jose doesn't get to New York until next month, so never mind.

I must face the TOD.
Well, I do remember watching the Miracle on Ice in 1980. That was pretty exciting. I remember a Greco-Roman wrestler named Jeff Blatnick winning the gold and then just bawling like a baby in the ring. I kinda thought Katarina Witt blossomed quite nicely. That was fun. That American gymnast came back to win the gold in Greece, that seemed cool, then it turned out one of the Koreans was scored incorrectly. That took away the fun. All the events that involve judging are kinda hard to enjoy nowadays. And the professionalism and commercialism have sapped away some of the other joys. I usually end up watching stuff though. Odd sports like archery.
