Be back later.

Today, Mike, my volunteer driver for cancer patients, took me out shopping. One of the stops was at a thrift store, and there I found a CD that I hope is good. It looks brand new. It's a 2 CD set of "Sunday in the Park with George" the 2006 London cast recording. As I may have mentioned before, I would like to become more familiarized with B'way musicals as I had paid more attention to dramas.

It can't beat the original, but I do like that recording. :)

Great! and, George, the other good part of this is that at this particular thrift store, for the Humane Society, they charge $1 per CD. So this was $2 and it goes to help dogs and cats.

Here's to a splendiferous PAINT YOUR WAGON recording session!

Thank you.  It was! I just got home.  it was a long day, and I expect Monday's sessions to be as long.  It all sounds so good, and Rob Berman proves again that he's one of the best Broadway musical director.  I can think of only two others that I have as much respect for, but he's at the top of my list.

I've had a bit of dinner.  PBS has another effin fund drive, which is ridiculous, so no Britcoms tonight.

I'll check my mail, read a bit, and go to bed.  I have to meet Joshie at Toyland tomorrow morning.

Yes we have big Facebook drama today.....so I finally had to unfriend my nephew and his bipolar wife who is 28 years older than he is....

I didn't join in the comments on the thread, but it was so ridiculous.....she has him convinced that his family never loved him, held him back, and do not want him to be happy.....and he never calls, talks, or visits any of his family.....they came to see us last month - which was a shock.....

She says it takes her three weeks to get him "back to normal" after he has any contact with his family.

ANYWAY....that's just the tip of the iceberg and not worth talking about anymore...except to say that Facebook does NOT help...it is actually the anti-communicator.

This is a very painful and sad situation.  I am sorry.

From DR George:
Quote
I haven't read much that said anything good about this.

Maybe it was the expensive comfy seats with the ottoman I enjoyed most, plus sitting eye level with the screen.  The sound was also excellent.  What I really enjoy, and Keith as well, was the teenage girl who was delightful.

Certainly enjoying the movie experience can improve one's opinion of a movie.

;)

And being a bit bored & stressed also helps.

Speaking of Facebook, I was at my usual Indian eatery yesterday (it's a bit too modest to call a restaurant), when a young woman got in the buffet line behind me. She was on her phone and I could hear her say, "Mom, can I call you back? I'm at the Indian place." She looked at me with a "What can I do?" look. I said, "Mothers!" understandingly. We happened to both be leaving at the same time and she started up a conversation, telling me how she didn't even buy a cell phone until she was 24 and was required to do so for her job. She feels pressure to be available 24/7. She said that she's not even on Facebook. I'm not, either, but was surprised to hear a twenty-something say this. Perhaps I'm not the only person on Earth who cares about privacy.

Nice story about your connection with the young woman.

Had a very long day - but our run-through was not bad - Sami really came out and took the stage for the first third of the show.  Then her focus began to go and she was forgetting what followed what and some of the staging and the final third her energy just flagged and there was no performance hardly.  It was a really good lesson for her, but there is a really good show here and if she can just keep her stamina at full speed and understand the ebbs and flows, and then when we actually have rehearsal we'll find lots more places where she can have lots more fun and we'll have the time to develop those moments at our own pace.

Watching Barbara Cook sing "Somebody, Somewhere" from "Most Happy Fella." She would have made an amazing Amy in that show. Did she ever play it?

Her performance just melts me.
