Everyone in Phoenix is all excited because we have about a 10 percent chance of rain on Saturday, Elmore. It has been a long time since it has rained here.

Champagne is often described as yeasty, Laura. It's meant in a good way, too. Still, I love the Stritchy story.

Young Frankenstein on stage is a big so what? musical. The songs only belabor the movie's many fine jokes. I saw a local production and applauded the set.

My left kidney has not been in great shape for a week now. I thought it was the bed I slept in in Louisville but after a few nights at home, there's been no change. So, I have a visit with the physician's assistant in the morning.

Re Young Frankenstein, this is all kind of what I expected to hear.  (Someone local had expressed an interest in mounting it.)

Not knowing when to stop is such a pitfall for so many people, and it's too bad when it's someone like Brooks who mostly DID know back in his movie making prime.

Why, I remember when there was just Mel, Woody, and some other guy...

Thank you, ChasSmith.

The theater where I saw Young Frankenstein staged it for Halloween in rep with The Rocky Horror Show. They both basically used the same set.

Thursday morning greetings!  We had a nice breakfast yesterday with my cousin and his wife and then I accompanied them to visit Mom.  That went better than I'd expected and I'll be interested to see if she remembers it the next time I see her.  From there, Perry and Pam proceeded to Pittsburgh and I went grocery shopping.  I pretty much crashed the rest of the day and am not setting the world on fire this morning.

I agree with everyone else that "Young Frankenstein" really fell flat. But there's a big dance number for "Puttin' on the Ritz" that's pretty cool.

Bruce, have you switched "Ask BK day" to Thursdays? Or did the 4th of July holiday mess you up?

Or maybe it's tomorrow.

Credit goes to Irving Berlin for that.

And the word of the day is: CAPRICIOUS!

The first time I ever heard this word was in the musical Victor/Victoria stage version: Paris by Night "She fools us all because she's so capricious" I had to look it up to know what it meant and never heard it used again.

I don't know if I learned it from Cole Porter but he used it in his song Fish:

Fish, fish
Stop and take a look
Whet your appetite
I've got something on my hook
Won't you take a bite?
Don't be so capricious
Sample my line
All the other fishes
Say it's delicious.
Fish, fish
Won't you grant my wish?
Don't be so non-committal little fish.

That Cole. He was always so subtle.

Ask BK Or Any Other Dear Reader (on a Thursday, I just realized)...    :)

And I ask out of ignorance...

The stage version of Young Frankenstein...

Okay?  Good?  Great?  Bad?  Horrible?  Dead at the starting gate?  Has potential that can be capitalized on by a bright director?  Or what?

Bad.  Horrible.  Lazy.  Full of itself.  Every role model he borrowed from for the songs is blatantly obvious.
