I started watching another NCIS episode from the second season set, but I ran out of time and only got halfway through with it. Tony is working undercover trying to get a convict to take him to his partner so the feds can arrest them both. Good episode with some funny moments thus far. Michael Weatherly looked very sexy as a grime-covered escaped con.

I spent the majority of my time with today's work project EMPIRE OF PASSION on Criterion. It's a POSTMAN ALWAYS RINGS TWICE scenario set in 1895 Japan with a ghost story angle added to it. Some effective moments, and some breathtaking shots of the four seasons in Japan, but I'm guessing that Nagisa Oshima just isn't a director whose style is up my alley. I felt distant and impatient with the characters in both IN THE REALM OF THE SENSES and EMPIRE OF PASSION, though, thankfully, the "Passion" of the title was much less graphically portrayed in this one.

I was able to watch all of the bonus features, too. Two different sets of interviews first with the two stars of the movie (filmed last year) and then some production assistants filmed in 2003. There was a video essay comparing the two Oshima movies Criterion has just issued. And there was the American trailer for the film.

So, once I get the review written, I'll be left with a good chunk of the evening to watch something fun until DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES begins. I'll probably watch MILK on Blu-ray tonight.

I shall watch CASINO ROYALE on Blu-Ray tonight after the housewives.

It has very impressive video and audio. Particularly striking is the deep color and resolution of those poker games. Amazing sharpness and clarity.

In fact, I have another Bond Blu-ray I haven't watched yet, but its quality is considerably less than CASINO ROYALE - MOONRAKER. Still, maybe I'll like it more in HD.

Sunday afternoon greetings!  Richard and I got in from the Glee Club concert last night to find Rob and Mary Linda here.  They'd been to Dayton for the day and decided to crash here.  This morning we were all off to Cincinnati for church, where Rob, ML, and I had the pastor's 3 granddaughters to look after.  They usually sit with their grandma, but she's in California visiting her elderly father.  The 2-year-old conked out on my lap during the sermon and slept until I stood up long after the postlude ended.

Well, it's official!  I've been cast as Lord Montague in Theater Artists Olympia's production of "Romeo and Juliet." :D A few days ago, I downloaded several versions of the play and in the shortest with only 35 pages, Lord Montague had only three lines.  I found another cut of the show with 75 pages(!) and LM has many more lines.  I'm hoping for fewer lines. ::)

Chris (the director) has made his own cut of "R&J."  I don't know how many lines I have.

Dear George, Congratulations on being cast in Romeo & Juliet ( I hope we get pictures).

And congrats on starting laundry, that's what I'm doing too.  Only l or 2 loads per week, luckily.

Moving on to Brad Ellis, Chicago.

Congratulations on your casting, DR George!   :D   However, I'll admit to being disappointed that you weren't cast as Lady Montague.  Think of the frock(s) you could have worn!   ;)

The Audition was wonderful and also wonderfully suspenseful.   A lot of great music and great singing.  And the competitors are so young!  None over 30.   However, you do wonder whether some of them will still have a voice at 40.

Feel better vibes for DR Dan the man. I know how bad a sore throat can be. I had the same thing last sunday. It hurt like hell!  The weird thing now is that i wake up every day and my throat is so dry. That never happened before my sore throat.

Thanks for the news re: DR Vixmom. That story about the walkers made me laugh too.

Jane-

HOPE YOU RECOVER SOON VIBES.

Don't infect the Mouse

LOL-Thank you. We have learned running hot water on the rash helps with the itching.  In contrast I'm using the laptop at the granite kitchen counter.  The cool granite is rather soothing.

Page four???  Just back from lunch with dear reader Jeanne, who looks like she's adapting to her change in residence very well.  It took a bit of convincing but we ended up at Du-Par's at the Farmer's Market.  She initially didn't want to go there, but it was so damn hot and all the Farmer's Market jernts were crowded and the tables were in the sun - we walked through the Grove but nothing there seemed good, so we ended up back at Du-Par's and Jeanne had her first Du-Par's pancakes, which she said she liked.  I actually thought they were a little mediocre.
