Lord what a day.

When I finally looked at where I'd left off I'd lost the paragraph or two of new stuff

I can understand your frustration.  I'm glad you retrieved most of it & have a better back up system in place.

We are watching a DVD of Nero Wolfe episodes and the murder they're working on now took place a block east of DR Elmore's home!

I did it.

Wowie zowie! Everything is falling nicely into place today. I got a copy of the FANFARE Magazine review of the Herbert Piano and Cello music, which will be out in March, and it's a rave.

Bravo!

It seems our recent phone/internet problems were due to cable thieves & not to CenturyLink.  We wondered about the possibility as it was in the exact area that was repaired during the last outage.

I vote for blaming them anyway.

Ooh, CenturyLink!  Not fond of them.  I called to cancel our landline a month ago and noticed yesterday that we were still getting billed.  When I called to complain, the lady said "Huh, well I see the notice to discontinue service, but for some reason nobody did it.  Sorry about that."  Thankfully they will refund us the last charges.  Still, I don't like them.

We have to have them for our phone & DSL.  Cell service isn't very good here & sometimes we like to talk to the same person at the same time.  As far as I know that isn't easily done on cell phones.  I also hear better on a land line.

Simply search for Qwest in the archives here to get but a small sampling of the long national nightmare I had with the company now known as CenturyLink.  Never, ever, ever again.

DR JMK you are lucky you don't have to deal with them anymore.  While our past experiences have not been as bad as yours it would be nice if we didn't lose our connections as often as we do.  Keith dreads talking to them when that happens.  So far I've been lucky & mostly just get a recording they know the service is out.

Did TCM run a Farmer film today?  My website hits are through the roof and a lot of the referring links are from TCM.

I was sitting in the conservatory this morning and suddenly became aware of the noise of things falling onto the roof. I looked outside and saw a squirrel (possibly the same one I always see) sitting on the roof of the house, throwing nuts onto the conservatory roof.

JMK  your squirrel is wintering in England!

Does anyone else start singing the tune of "The things that you're liable / To read in the bible" and somehow the words "I'm strong to the finish / Cuz I eat me spinach" pop into your head?

no one else.  Hmmmm.....
Not me.

How 'bout this one:  does anyone know the contemporary Christian tune (in many modern hymnals):  Here I Am, Lord.  I cannot hear the second four bars of the first eight without hearing "she was bringing up three very lovely girls."  :)

YES!!! I thought it was just me!

Did anyone watch the last episode of UNFORGETTABLE?  Our friend's niece played Mena Levy.  We missed the episode as our friend sent Keith a text with the date instead of sending it to me.  Keith didn't notice the text for two days which was two days too late.  I hope we can catch the rerun.
