"Pushing Daisies," Angela, is about a young man who owns a pie shop. He has a certain "other" talent, too. If he touches dead people, they come back to life. If he touches them again, they become dead again. If he doesn't touch them for one week, someone/something else dies in their place. This is true of people or animals. Kristen Chenoweth is his employee, Olive, in the pie shop. She's "got it bad" for her boss, but he doesn't see her as anyone romantic.
Tonight, Kristen sang "Hopelessly Devoted" from "Grease." Every girl who was in that NBC show earlier this year -- the one that cast the current version of "Grease" on Broadway -- is a "rank" amateur by comparison. Man can she belt a tune!
She did the number while she was "closing up" at her boss' request. There was a guy in the scene who was polishing the floor, but he was wearing earphones to go with his iPod. Her movements were choreographed to go with his, although both their backs were to each other. It put a smile on my face. And it ended much too quickly.

I'm very much looking forward to tonight's "Ugly Betty", "Smallville," "Grey's Anatomy" and "Supernatura" (most of which I wont' watch, I'm guessing, until Saturday. I'm certain I'll DVR the latter three. I always watch "Ugly Betty" as it airs.

I've also got to tackle "The Lodger" sometime this weekend. Possibly I'll even watch "The Undying Monster."
By the by....if any of you out there is a fan of "A Matter of Life and Death" (aka "Stairway to Heaven"), TCM is airing it later this month. It's either Oct. 22nd or 24th. I've already set my DVR to pick it up, so I don't know the actual date off the top of my head.
If you don't know it, you OWE IT TO YOURSELF to see it. It's one of cinema's great serious fantasies, and it stars David Niven and Kim Hunter.
In a nutshell (from the IMDb):
Returning to England from a bombing run in May 1945, flyer Peter Carter's plane is damaged and his parachute ripped to shreds. He has his crew bail out safely, but figures it is curtains for himself. He gets on the radio, and talks to June, a young American woman working for the RAF, and they are quite moved by each other's voices. Then he jumps, preferring this to burning up with his plane. He wakes up in the surf. It was his time to die, but there was a mixup in heaven. They couldn't find him in all that fog. By the time his "Conductor" catches up with him 20 hours later, Peter and June have met and fallen in love. This changes everything, and since it happened through no fault of his own, Peter figures that heaven owes him a second chance. Heaven agrees to a trial to decide his fate.
It is a 1946 Michael Powell-Emeric Pressburger film.
It's not currently available on a quality DVD, and infrequent airings on TV are the only other source for it of which I know. (this last sentence edited to clarify availability)

I have not played board games for quite a few years. I always found "Cluedo" a lot of fun. (especially when the players had had a few drinks! "Professor Pipe in the Green room with a plum"). That's "Clue" in the USA I think. It was also a great game to use as a teaching aid for deductive reasoning.
I found board games quite a useful device in teaching - games based on stock markets and basic economic theory were way more useful than textbooks in some cases. The devising of games by students was also an interesting exercise. (I guess these days that they would be devising Computer Games instead).

I enjoy this show, too...although I haven't watched the latest episode. But, if I remember correctly, he has only one minute to re-touch the people to make them dead again, not a week, before some random person in close proximity dies instead. That's a very unusual, and specific, requirement.

Thunderations, we're having a bit of storm here in Rehoboth. A downpour of rain, and a rattling of thunder. Poor Bonnie has been hiding at my feet - we used to think it was just Marty who was scared of the thunder, but now that he's gone, she's the one who gets worried.

It was recorded by the Olympia (WA) Chamber Orchestra when Tim was the conductor! I'd met him several times when he used to live here in Olympia. He wrote and recorded several new scores for silent movies that have since been released on DVD. :)

I also like "Mr & Mrs Smith" and "The Kling-Kling Bird in the Divi-Divi Tree."

I love this show! I guess i can get why it would not be everyone's cup of tea. But i just love it. I love Chuck and i love Ned. I love the little mysteries they have to solve. And i love Chi McBride (big black guy fomerly of BOSTON PUBLIC).

Btw, speaking of fries. I went out to lunch with my niece last weekend (she just turned 2). We were eating hotdogs and french fries (she loves them both). And i was dipping my fries in ketchup.
Well she wanted to copy me. So she picked up her french fry and leaned over and dipped it in the ketchup. So cute! She claimed she liked it and kept doing it! :)

But i still think that boxer has a lot of potential. His personality sort of rubs me the wrong way a bit. But i like karina a lot and i really think he has potential.
There are some people that to me no matter how hard they try, they could never win (like wayne newton for example).
I"m curious, the judges keep saying this is the best group they've ever had. I don't think so. Do you?
I personally think that there are just more celebs who are better. But i don't feel like there are many who have the potential to be great. I really don't think marie osmond, jane seymour, or jennie garth will ever be great. And while i like them, i was actually a bit bothered that their scores were so high.

I'm quite fond of I THINK I DO and I love the cast, especially Lauren Velez and Guillermo Diaz and my freidn Marni Nixon in a very understated performance. I think Tuc Watkins is a complete hoot as Sterling and there are some hysterical throw-away lines from him.

As for today's topic of discussion (remember the topic of discussion?): I've been turning into a Scrabble addict (one of my colleagues is a former nationally top-rated player), and that's about it. I love chess in theory, but am far too frustrated trying to get past the most basic concepts. I used to love Monopoly, but haven't played in centuries. With the little one now 2 years old, I expect that Candy Land and Chutes & Ladders are in my future....

Sorry, but we'll just have to agree to disagree about PUSHING DAISIES. I did very much enjoy Kristin's song and the very imaginative routine she had with the janitor. Best part of the show for me by a wide, wide margin.
But the precious narration bothers me to distraction, I find Chuck annoying rather than endearing, and the mystery was so slight and so easily solved that it was no fun.
One more week and then I'll probably be losing this hour of TV and going back to DVDs which would be fine. I need the time.

I didn't start playing Candy Land until I was a teenager in high school! A neighborhood friend's much younger brother loved it but his brother (my age) wouldn't play with him, so I'd go down there every afternoon after school and play Candy Land for an hour.
Also loved two off-the-wall board games which were of their time but didn't make history (like Monopoly):

I played Disneyland at a friend's birthday party when I was 7 or 8, and I was so enraptured by it that I begged my mother to PLEASE take me to a toy store after the party so we could buy it. My dear father used to enjoy ponderous obscure strategy games that took longer to learn how to play than they did to actually play. And surprisingly, he had a difficult time finding people willing to try! :)

Yes, DR der Brucer, I do love actor Jonathan Togo (not in a lustful way; my tastes go for much burlier guys than Jonathan) on CSI: MIAMI, and I was infuriated with the out-of-the-blue gambling addiction they foisted on his character last year. Had the writers forgotten how he was a by-the-book (almost anal retentive) serious cop in his introduction to the show in the third season? This seemed completely out of character and a wrench thrown into the series' playbook just to stir things up.

Monopoly - Although, I always ended up playing by "house rules", so the game never went on that long. It wasn't until years(!) later when I read the real rules, the ones in the box that I realized just how long a game could go on. And on. And on. And on. (-I'll leave the last one for Liz Callaway.)
Parcheesi - I actually liked Parcheesi.
Checkers, Chess - Never understood Backgammon.
And what was the game with the little "dice bubble" in the middle of the board? I liked playing that too.

Ron, it's available. Amazon has it. So does my local video store, as I've rented it from them. And I certainly agree that it's a classic and should be seen.
Amazon.com has a Movies Unlimited DVD release of the title which, according to reader reviews, is of poor quality.
There are also Region 2 DVDs available.
I know that Columbia Classics issued a VHS of the title. Thus far, no label has issued a DVD of it, although Columbia "announced" it back in 2004.

Last night I watched the 2001 SWEENEY TODD concert dvd....taped in San Francisco....with Mr Hearn and Ms LuPone and Mr Harris....and a lot of opera people who acted as if they were slumming....saving their breath for big POWER notes at the end of phrases....bleh.

But I liked the show, as usual....staging was not the most imaginative, but then....what DO you do when you only have a couple of rehearsals with a LOT of people AND a symphony orchestra....and television cameras.
It was quite an achievement, all in all.

It is a 1946 Michael Powell-Emeric Pressburger film.
It's not currently available on video, and infrequent airings on TV are the only other source for it of which I know.
For those with multi-region players, it is indeed available on DVD in a decent transfer from the UK. A great movie.

Actually, the region 2 A Matter Of Life And Death is pretty good now that I think of it - especially considering it came out aroun 1999 or thereabouts. The source material is in excellent condition, but technology for transfers is much better now and when they get around to redoing it (which they will) it will be great.

An Administrative Assistant of Northwest Folklife emailed about travel arrangements for my interview... wow, it may actually be a very classy operation!! I always loved the Festival, and now I'm gonna love the interview. They offered overnight accommodations for the Friday and Saturday eves I'll be there - so I don't have to shlep back and forth from the cabin in this weather. How very nice of them!

Of course, I am a Scrabble fan-atic. I used to love Monopoly. I've played Trivial Pursuit, but am not that good at non-entertaiment questions. When I was very little we had some sort of Major League baseball game that my brother and I loved playing on Saturday mornings. I don't know that I played any others as a kid - never did Clue or Parchesi or any of those games. My darling daughter loved Chutes and Ladders and Candyland, and later, as a teen, we played Scrabble all the time (see Adventures With My Father).

Speaking of games, we are thinking of buying the game memory (i think that is what it is called) for little megan. She is probably too young for it (it's the game where you have matched pairs hidden). But we're curious to see if she could do it. She seems to remember words very well. She knows a bunch of songs. And last night when i was reading her a 30 page book. Just for the fun of it i skipped the last word of each line (it mostly rhymes but it's still a lot of words on each page). And i'd say she remembered 90% of the last words (every second line). Now granted she's read the book a ton of times. But i don't think i'd be able to give most of the words she did.

Thank you. In English it doesn't mean anything, as far as I know. In Hebrew, it's a (possibly completely non-existent) grammatical variant of a word meaning "upright-ness" or "fairness" (it's the last word of Psalm 98).
The word itself derives from the Hebrew word "yashar," meaning "straight." Every friend of ours saw significance in this name being applied to the offspring of two theater queens. :)

I'm telling you this in case someone recommends the place. Based on my two or three times in the store and the attitude from the owners I would stay away from them at all costs.

If JOURNEYMAN's ratings continue to sink (it's down in the territory where STUDIO 60 ended up last year in terms of audience numbers), I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see NBC yank it and put MEDIUM here instead of waiting for the midseason SUnday night at 10 slot that now have it penciled-in for.
I've stuck with it - and really would like to enjoy it more. I like the cast, but find the plotting weak.

I spent the first part of the afternoon finishing the DVD of THE HOAX watching the six deleted scenes and the one extended scene. There were two featurettes about Clifford Irving, both of which Mike Wallace (who interviewed him twice on 60 MINUTES 30 years apart). And there were two audio commentaries that I sampled about a half hour of each.

Next I watched today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. All I can say is Noah is one screwed-up kid.
Looks like the gay storyline will be on tomorrow's show as well.

Next, I put in THE ADVENTURES OF ROCKY AND BULLWINKLE and watched "The Treasure of Monte Zoom." On this disc are three complete R&B stories without any of the other cartoons from the series. The one I watched was 8 episodes in length (about half an hour). When I go back down I'll watch "Wossamotta U."

I finished the afternoon by watching the first half of last night's CSI: NY. Detective Flack now has a society girl friend. She seems to good to be true. I don't have a good feeling about this lasting.

Of course, the box and all the packing materials are "around" the kitchen table, and I'm thinking the fridge unit itself is probably in her room - which is really the only place it could go.
*Of course, we only ever keep 2-4 bottles of wine in the apartment at a time... And we never really buy anything that "demands" temperature-controlled storage. So... -And this is on top of the new bed frame, the new bedroom curtains and some new bedroom furniture, so... What I want to know -- vis a vis Jose's ROOMMATE PROBLEM -- is what, if anything the "other" roomies have to say about all this.
Were any of you consulted? Was this ever something that had been discussed as a possibility for anyone wanting a live-in "friend"?
What, I wonder, would happen if the "other roomies" began walking around nude? What would happen if the "other roomies" began developing slovenly habits in common spaces?
What would happen if the "other roomies" pulled the egregious roommate aside and threw a shitfit?
What would happen, also, if you demanded the "live-in" start paying a "share" of rent for use of common space? That's "in addition to" the rent already being paid by the live-in's girlfriend.

Otherwise, a friend of mine just sent a bunch of his LPs and cassettes of some place that transfers them to CDs as well as converts into iPod-compatible files. I'll try and get the name of the company for you. -Although, I think he found it just by Googling.

Otherwise, a friend of mine just sent a bunch of his LPs and cassettes of some place that transfers them to CDs as well as converts into iPod-compatible files. I'll try and get the name of the company for you. -Although, I think he found it just by Googling.
It isn't for me; it's for David Burnham before he gets some live performances to me. I want him to be able to give me a disc or an mp3 of something he has on cassette.

Next, I put in THE ADVENTURES OF ROCKY AND BULLWINKLE and watched "The Treasure of Monte Zoom." On this disc are three complete R&B stories without any of the other cartoons from the series. The one I watched was 8 episodes in length (about half an hour). When I go back down I'll watch "Wossamotta U."

We had an interesting commute this morning. At least, those who travel I-880 South (Oakland to San Jose) had an interesting commute. The interstate was actually shut down right after dawn.
Police (or Highway Patrol) had been called pre-dawn about a dead animal being on the highway. At dawn, someone made the horrifying discovery that the road kill was actually "part" of a human body. This body, it seems, was rather dismembered and scattered around the highway (having been struck a number of times by vehicles).
Details have not been released yet other than it appears to have been a man who was about 50 years old.

I recently acquired "Rocky and Bullwinkle & Friends", Seasons 1, 2 and 3. These are, supposedly the first three seasons ever aired of these characters.
But the show was first called "Rocky and His Friends" and then, it seems the show's name changed to "The Bullwinkle Show" or something elitist like that (remember "Laverne" and how that sank after they dropped "and Shirley"?)
Then, IIRC, the name changed to "The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show" and stayed like that through the run of the series, however many seasons that was.

What I want to know -- vis a vis Jose's ROOMMATE PROBLEM -- is what, if anything the "other" roomies have to say about all this.
Were any of you consulted? Was this ever something that had been discussed as a possibility for anyone wanting a live-in "friend"?
What, I wonder, would happen if the "other roomies" began walking around nude? What would happen if the "other roomies" began developing slovenly habits in common spaces?
What would happen if the "other roomies" pulled the egregious roommate aside and threw a shitfit?
Well.... The "others" did discuss this the other night, and we're all sort of "confused" right now, for lack of a better word. She has actually not been here all that much the past couple of weeks, so, some of the issues and problems haven't come up since she wasn't here to cause them. However, she's spent every night here this week so far - and her boyfriend has been here all but one night this week, so some things were starting to rear their ugly little head again. But then she's heading back out of town for a week or so next week, so...
Yes, we all admitted that we're being a bit childish, but at least we know we are. -And, heck, it's been fun bonding over our bitching sessions. *Thankfully, the big "noise" issue has died down quite a bit since the new subletter moved in a couple of weeks ago, so that's also contributed to the seeming lack of calm and civility. The "rest of us" have also been quite busy the past couple of weeks so we were never really here for enough "waking hours" to get upset about anything. In any case...
We did all agree that if one of us happens to get particularly irked, that we should just go ahead and confront her about it. We've been too nice and quietly-non-understanding for too long.
*And the rest of us did agree that the wine fridge will stay in her room.

Well.. I was actually thinking of heading to Carnegie Hall tonight to catch Dame Kiri Te Kanawa in recital, but since they only have "obstructed view" seating left... and with the continuing rain, I believe I'm just going to stay in tonight, and enjoy some network TV offerings. -I also have an all-day audition session to play for as well as show tomorrow night, so it's probably best I stay in. -Besides, I have some wine chilling upstairs. ::)

Back from a busy little day - starting with a rehearsal with the delightfully delightful Emily Rozek. Then it was over to LACC to return borrowed costumes and props (and I donated all the costumes created for NY), a meeting with the head of the department. It is difficult for me not to think of him as I had x-rays of my foot & ankle today. I'm sure I'm hurting far less than Kerry, however......
Back in June I mentioned Sherlock ran through me when I didn't leave him room to go around he while we were out hiking. Over time my foot & ankle improved, not completely but were considerably better. I have taken a turn for the worse this week & finally went to the doctor. My foot might be broken, or I might have a torn ligament-not sure. I'm trying to stay calm, without my hikes I don't know what I'll do. And of course Sherlock needs to get out too.
End of rant. At this point it could be a bruised bone (not that the doctor suggested it) and all will be fine, so I'm more concerned about DR Kerry.

But i still think that boxer has a lot of potential. His personality sort of rubs me the wrong way a bit. But i like karina a lot and i really think he has potential.
There are some people that to me no matter how hard they try, they could never win (like wayne newton for example).
I"m curious, the judges keep saying this is the best group they've ever had. I don't think so. Do you?
I personally think that there are just more celebs who are better. But i don't feel like there are many who have the potential to be great. I really don't think marie osmond, jane seymour, or jennie garth will ever be great. And while i like them, i was actually a bit bothered that their scores were so high.
I agree on Marie and Jane...my guess is Jane's score was, in part, because of the loss of her mother, a sympathy score. I think over all the women are stronger than usual and the men less so than usual. I really like Sabrina and Melanie on the women's side

Sorry, but we'll just have to agree to disagree about PUSHING DAISIES. I did very much enjoy Kristin's song and the very imaginative routine she had with the janitor. Best part of the show for me by a wide, wide margin.
But the precious narration bothers me to distraction, I find Chuck annoying rather than endearing, and the mystery was so slight and so easily solved that it was no fun.
One more week and then I'll probably be losing this hour of TV and going back to DVDs which would be fine. I need the time.

My modem gave the ghost up and I've had no phone either. Then I misplaced my cell phone.

I am enjoying some DVDrs of assorted unaired TV pilots...just watch the 1966 unsold pilot for LIL ABNER...it actually was not too bad and I laughed several times.
Sammy Jackson played Abner, Judy Canova played Mammy and Jeannine Riley played Daisy Mae...and I do think that BK would have approved of her...very much so.

Actually one day I went to a big doll and toy show and was wondering through the vintage Barbie section. A couple of the dealers started laughing because they thought I looked just like the vintage 1960s Ken doll, especially since I had the crew cut and was wearing khakis and a vintage looking shirt...not unlike the Ken's that were on display.
However, I was not trying to look like Ken...it just happened that way.

I think I identify more with Midge, DR Jose.
Actually one day I went to a big doll and toy show and was wondering through the vintage Barbie section. A couple of the dealers started laughing because they thought I looked just like the vintage 1960s Ken doll, especially since I had the crew cut and was wearing khakis and a vintage looking shirt...not unlike the Ken's that were on display.
However, I was not trying to look like Ken...it just happened that way.
;D You do look like him. Hey, Ken was always good looking, it was Barbie's looks I didn't like. :D

I am enjoying some DVDrs of assorted unaired TV pilots...just watch the 1966 unsold pilot for LIL ABNER...it actually was not too bad and I laughed several times.
Sammy Jackson played Abner, Judy Canova played Mammy and Jeannine Riley played Daisy Mae...and I do think that BK would have approved of her...very much so.
Robert Reed was a guest star.
Well, I hope some kind soul is making BK a copy of said pilot.

Jeanne I have never read Laurie King. Which book to suggest I begin with? Not having read her I can’t compare her style to make informed suggestions (I know, you asked Ginny, not me :))
Have you read Elizabeth George or Janet Evanowich, Navada Barr, King of Lies by John Hart? Do you like John Grisham? I haven't read much of his & my favorite book, The Painted House,wasn’t a mystery. I do like his style of writing.
Start with THE BEEKEEPER'S APPRENTICE. It is the first of the Mary Russell series.
Yes, I used to like Elizabeth George very much, but I think the PBS adaptations of her work, which I think were horrible and an injustice (she wasn't pleased, either) have soured me. I also have great respect for Minette Walters' work. I've enjoyed much of John Grisham's work, but am looking for something like Laurie King. I do enjoy historical fiction, esp around WWI. Yes, I've read Jacqueline Winspear.

The R&B history is a bit confused when it comes to the video sets.
I recently acquired "Rocky and Bullwinkle & Friends", Seasons 1, 2 and 3. These are, supposedly the first three seasons ever aired of these characters.
But the show was first called "Rocky and His Friends" and then, it seems the show's name changed to "The Bullwinkle Show" or something elitist like that (remember "Laverne" and how that sank after they dropped "and Shirley"?)
Then, IIRC, the name changed to "The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show" and stayed like that through the run of the series, however many seasons that was.
THE BULLWINKLE SHOW was originally the name used for the nighttime version of ROCKY & BULLWINKLE.

Just what DVDs are you watching? We have R&B and Friends Seasons 1 and 2, and neither the tales you mentioned are included (nor, according to Amazon, are they in Season3). All of ours include the other cartoon extras like Fractured Fairy Tales and Dudley Do-right, etc.)

I have all three of the complete season sets (the show ran five seasons, and the last two have been held back for some reason.)
Anyway, Classic Media has released two volumes of JUST the complete storylines from selectedstories from the various seasons. It's called THE BEST OF ROCKY AND BULLWINKLE - Volume 2. The three adventures in the set are from seasons 4 & 5 which haven't been released on DVD yet.
The three tales were WOSSAMOTTA U., GOOF GAS ATTACK and THE TREASURE OF MONTE ZOOM. It's just the stories straight through with no interrupting cartoons or other filler. The first lasts 12 episodes or about 45 minutes. The other two are 8 episodes which last about a half hour each.

THE BULLWINKLE SHOW was originally the name used for the nighttime version of ROCKY & BULLWINKLE.
Only the last three years when it switched from ABC to NBC.

Then I finished the ROCKY AND BULLWINKLE set. There were only those three stories (had already watched MONTE ZOOM), and the only other special feature were about five minutes of the live action intros using a BULLWINKLE hand puppet but voiced by Bill Scott.
As many times as I've seen these episodes (and I had all of the released R&B VHS tapes), I still laughed out loud during every one of them. They are SO brilliantly written.

UGLY BETTY had an excellent episode tonight. I've forgotten how many episodes Freddy Rodrigez has signed on for as the sandwich guy, but I liked the spice he added to the show. Marc made me laugh out loud several times, and Justin was priceless with Daniel.

Tonight's CSI got back to a couple of murder cases for a change and seemed less about the team's personalities. But there was some bee business I didn't understand at all.

The How To Marry a Millionaire pilot was actually tons better then the actual show.
Lori Nelson was in the pilot episode and the ensuing series, but the pilot had Doe Avedon and Charlotte Austin who were replaced by Merry Anders and Barbara Eden when the series went up.

I have several more pilots to watch including some 1960s pilots for a couple of Irwin Allen shows that never saw the light of day as actual series...but alas it is late and time for SURVIVOR and the OFFICE and then bed.

There are only 2 more performances of "SpaceBattle the Musical - Not To Be Confused with Star Wars The Musical." Shows are at 10pm at DCAC on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 12-13.
The musical was written by Timothy Edward Smith and Hunter Nolan, and the song "One Season More" won the coveted Best Song trophy at the 2005 Star Wars Fan Film Awards.
The writers cite "Les Miserables" and "Phantom of the Opera" as major inspirations for their work. All characters are portrayed by 4 actors and 1 talented trashcan.
George - should this move to your area I'm sure you could get the part of the trashcan :D

FJL, I have an important question for you:
I have finished my taxes for the 10/15 deadline. I didn't make an appointment with our accountant beause my DH has been so busy I didn't know when he would be able to do his, so I told him to make the appointment and I would have my stuff ready for him.
Today he realized that the 15th was Monday, tried to make an appoitment for today and was told that our accountant is already booked.
So my question is, of these quickie tax services like H&R Block, etc., do you know of a national one that is reputable, etc? Is there any way to file ANOTHER EXTENSION or is Oct. 15th the last one you can get? Is there a temporary form you can file and then do an amended return? Or anything else we haven't thought of?
This will teach us to move right before taxes are due!

I caught up on a few shows in my DVR cache early this evening.
"Chuck" was a complete delight. This show simply "works"...and it doesn't hurt that it is beautifully written.
"Life" was amazing. Damian Lewis has his character totally locked solid and the writers are there for him at every turn. The show last night was extremely well done with interesting characters and humor and off-the-wall insights into Crews' character.
"Ugly Betty" was TONS of fun. I've recorded "Smallville," "Supernatural" and "Grey's Anatomy" for future enjoyment. Don't give anything away, now , without warning me.
Best news of the night was learning that NBC has ordered more episodes of "Chuck", "Bionic Woman", "Journeyman" and "Life."

That's correct and tomorrow is the 72nd anniversary of the opening of the Cole Porter-Moss Hart musical JUBILEE, with such great song hits as "Begin the Beguine," "Just One of Those Things," "Why Shouldn't I?" and "Me and Marie," the anticipated hit of the show. I also like "Mr & Mrs Smith" and "The Kling-Kling Bird in the Divi-Divi Tree."

I have a new lease on life, for the weekend anyway. After staying up until 2AM even though I had a session at 9, I masically locked the Johnny Mercer demo I was working on for teh Mercer foundation's meeting in NY on Sat. The people I was doing this for would be flying up with it Friday morning.
She called me at 8:30 to say that she got an email and that they wouldn't have time in their meeting to watch it.
Oh well, at least it made me get it (mostly) done, but I sure could have used a little less stress!

And, yes, I'm still up. I ended up watching a bit of "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno", and I did a bit of stretching too. And I also continued my Miracle Ball 'workout' which seems to be doing wonders for my back, neck and arms.

I used to have a Russian editing assistant who had been a filmmaker there. He was not a good assistant but I liked him enough to let him stay at my house.
I had to do nost of his work for him, but I did teach him to say "Moose and Squirrel" whenever I got aggravated and it always made me laugh.
He moved to NY and I lost track of him, but I think of him whenever I hear that phrase!

Hah! I've had 8 cable guys in the past month. Top THAT!
The last guy came to bury the cable (that's NOT a euphemism) because the previous guy, who was the first to get things working after many wastes days waiting, said that all new lines in my neighborhood had to be buried. So I've had this orange cable laying across my yard for weeks.
The guy with all the burying equipment showed up last Saturday, took one look at all teh obstacles, and said the cable would need to run in the air, which is what we wanted in the first place. But he couldn't run it in the air, oh no...he was the cable burying guy. And he said there should not have been a problem running it in the air. Sounds like the other guy just didn't want to do the work.

Have you ever had dinner at Petrossian? It's one of my favorite buildings in NY and I always think it would be fun to dine there (plus it's right down the street from The Wellington) but I always feel like I don't have an occasion that is "special" enough for a place like that.
Usually when we go to fancy places we feel so out of place that we don't have a good time. We have low fancy restaurant self-esteem!

Edi - Do you have enough paid in? On the Federal leveel, you won't be hit with late filing penalties unless you actually owe money. (Your state taxing authroity may vary.)
Re filing your return quickly and then filing an amended return - We normally hate doing that, especially if the amended return is to add business expenses that you missed on the first go-round. Our office tends to believe that you're calling attention to whatever you're amending for when you amend a return. But it is a way of potentially stopping the late filing penalties if you owe money.
