Besides, flower-planting is a nice relaxing thing to do whilst awaiting a subpoena, don't you think?

Particularly if the plantings cover-up the recently disturbed earth resulting from the burial of garbage bags of body parts.

Plus he needs to figure out how to get his Romanian girl friend here.  It is all very complicated.

DrBrucer-Good luck with the music teacher.  I think you might have found an excellent solution.

Craig wanted to learn to play the sax in the elementary school music class.  It wasn’t an option for first year students & he was forced to play the flute, I think it was the flute.  He wasn’t overly interested & the dogs couldn’t tolerate the high pitch so he couldn’t practice at home.  Needless to say he was lucky to pass the course & only because he played the piano & could read notes.

(And, yes, I know where all of your little Hainsie/Kimlet minds just went, so don't even...)

Don't bet on it! My little mind recalled the cute red woolen swimsuit with the blue and white sailboat on the chest I had as a pre-schooler. I actually saved it all these years, and my daughter now has it.

Note to historians: When I was a pre-schooler it was illegal for men of any age to appear on the beach with exposed nipples.

ROTFLOL!

She is a student at the University of Bucharest & hopefully will come here as a student.  I think Craig will have to initially come without her.  Which is why he might leave the cat there for awhile & only bring his dog.

Bell, Book and Candle -- cause we did it circa 1960s

and my most favorite was the one we did this past fall, the musical HONK!

The first was easy: a can of Brasso, a plastic jacket, and a wick trimmer!

HONK, I'm sure, was fun. When I was on the board of LB International City Theatre, we did one of the early US productions.

der Brucer

When I was in Camelot, the theater rented all the costumes from Western, my Mordred black cape had Vincent Price's name it in. The mother of my children thought the court costumes were too cheesy, so we hit the fabric stores, and she hit the Singer (machine, not Isaac or the tenor), and Arthur and Jenny had gorgeous flowing satin capes and Lancelot had a blue and silver silk brocade doublet.

Yep.  Other than a sort of cursory reference tool, it's really disappointing and iinept.

For the record, I had one slice of plain and one of Ultra Vegetarian.
Speaking of pizza:

Pizza Hut runs a promotion "Book IT" whereby if grade-school kids read a certain number of books that get a certificate for a free Personal Pan Pizza. The Grandlads thought this was great, and their fridge at home is covered with earned coupons. Their Dad says Pizza Hut products disagree with him - he gobbles up pizza from other places - so the kids never get to Pizza Hut to redeem their hard earned prize - Good Job NOT, Dad!

I said I'd give them a treat and take them to Pizza Hut. Well apparently there has also been a big ad campaign about Cheesy-Bite Pizzas from Pizza hut, and there were big promotional signage at the store. They youngest, William, age 6) - started rhapsodizing over the potential for Cheesy Bites! Now, how to do tell a kid "Can it, your hard earned prize doesn't come with Cheesy-Bites!" Of course, the only way you can get Cheesy-Bites is to order a Large Cheesy-Bite pizza!

So Grandpa took a swig of his Michelob, and ordered one to "share". William was delighted; his older Brother "I HATE reading" Alex had his head so thoroughly buried in a book that he didn't care. (I won't allow then to bring their Game Boys into a restaurant, but they may bring a book.) I also asked William if he's like a salad and he jumped for joy. (Mr. Perfect Dad will not buy the kid a salad because it doesn't come with the meal - and William really does like green salads!)

I'm not sure, but our director opted for circa 1950, so 1950s she and the characters got...

The original was set in 1930 with flashbacks to pre-WW1.
On character dies of a war injury.

You could easily move the play to 1955 with flashbacks to pre WWII.

Govers Corners has to maintain a degree in innocence - moving the 30s to Donna Reed's 50s would work, but I think setting the play in the 1990s with returns to Viet Nam would not.

The problem that I had with the Book It program when my kids were in school is that Pizza Hut was a sit-down place. If they used their rewards, then the adult needed to order a meal from the menu, and we couldn't always afford to do that. It was too expensive to use the free coupons!

DR DerBrucer, have you ever seen the "Hank the Cowdog" series? Very cute books, told from the ranch dog's viewpoint. There are many in the series, and they are short chapter books.

Good Afternoon!

It was indeed a very fun and interesting first day of rehearsal.  We started off with a "meet and greet", then after a short break, we did a read-thru.  The usual stuff for the first day.

The "Antrobus family" was called today, and the remainder of the cast will start next week - including Ms. Kitt.  And I don't think I mentioned it before, but Yvette Freeman is playing Mrs. Antrobus.  It truly is quite the cast!
