I waited too long to get a flight out of Florida and I got the last one to Montreal Saturday night. I'm hoping that it will leave as the storm is supposed to make landfall on Sunday.

I got th supermarket at 7:15 there were already long lines. Managed to snag 4 gallons of water just in case. By the time I left 30 minutes later they were all sold out.

It's a dark and stormy (well, dark and rainy) morning, following a dark and really stormy evening yesterday. It was an intense storm. Beautiful air quality with it, though -- the kind of storm you wish you could have the windows open and completely refresh the house, but there was too much risk of rain being blown in. I was able to crack the windows to get some of that goodness. Later, though, everything felt so damp that I had to close up and run the A/C for half an hour to dry the jernt out.

Just to add to the list of those going to and coming from Florida, Kristi and Nathan are flying to Orlando next Wednesday for a week, God willin' and the crick don't rise. That trip has been planned for months.

Jo and Randy have got me hooked on Criminal Minds, damn them all to hell. Last night we watched the hyper-ventilated, over-wrought mess called America's Got Talent. It suffers from too much overdubbing, too many bad super-production techniques, and too much fair-to-middlin' singing. Playing on the sympathy of a 13 year-old singer's father's bout with cancer, they praise her pitch, her singing, and not one person mentions "I did not understand one friggin' word you said" or where's your sense of conveying any meaning of these garbled lyrics?

Thanks, Jane! I got here at 10:15 (around my normal time...not early, like I had wanted ::) ), and I was told that she got here around 8:00 am. She's in the new employee orientation, so that'll last most of the day. I don't know what kind of breaks they'll have, so I probably won't really get to meet her (again...I was part of the secondary hiring committee) until either later today or tomorrow. :-\

Then I finished the liner notes, which are much longer than my usual notes. I ended up liking the approach from last night, so I just finessed it a bit and it took three hours to finish them. Maybe we'll announce this sooner than later. Not sure what to do with it in term of it being a limited edition - it doesn't really have to be, but why not? My instinct is just to price it at our usual price despite the archival sound.

The flight was fine. the goddamned post office did not hold my mail for the week. Packages supposedly left are missing, and my post box was crammed with the week's mail. Of course the dumbass carrier wasn't bothered by the fact I wasn't picking up my mail.
The PO confirmed the hold on Aug. 18, and sent me an email this morning reminding me my mail service would resume tomorrow. The effen Planetarium Station manager will eat shit before I'm finished with this.

There weren't any sailboats at all on the river today and only a couple of other boats.
The park on the beach had a few people in the water but the other park was completely empty yesterday and today. The volleyball players wisely avoided the exercise. There were only a few people riding their bikes on the walking path which was very nice.
