Is this a slow news day here at haineshisway.com?  All right, who is the culprit? Who are the errant and truant so that I may write their names down and put them in one of those blocks like they used to put people in in the town square - what are those called?

We SEEM to be missing input from one DR JoseSPiano!!!

I'm sure he'd be here if he could...must be "auditions from hell" day for him...he was posting a bit this morning before leaving for work.

And without any warning whatsoever, someone seems to have pulled the plug on vixmom, who posted up until about 11 a.m., but not even a "gotta run" has been heard from her since.

I don't normally announce by television viewing habits, but I am looking forward to episode 2 of Lost and part two of the story arc on Law and Order. Both shows are well written, acted and entertaining.

Well, we'll forgive you this time.  But do try and control yourself the next time you feel consumed by one of your shows.

Where did TCB go...and why haven't we heard more outta Jane and Danise?

Where in the world is Matthew?  MattH?

Why haven't Jed and Ann caught up?

Burning questions...mysteries all....and yet, time marches on and the world goes 'round...and 'round...and 'round.

A write-up in my local paper about tonight's premiere also included the identity of the murderer in the first season. That made me mad. Some people who did not watch the series last season are waiting for the VERONICA MARS DVDs which won't be out until the next month or so, and if they read that article, might feel like there is no reason to watch now. There are plenty of other mysteries, of course, but that still was thoughtless of that writer who didn't NEED to mention the denouement.

Ah yes, the electronic world we live in today with VCRs and DVDs.  Just think if all those poor people who went to England's Globe Theatre had been forced to go to their graves without ever being allowed to whisper aloud, "Hamlet dies!"

Stocks but I'm not sure that's the correct spelling.

Sorry.  I just watched “Commander in Chief”.  Mom and I really liked it.   I'm watching the first "Invasion”  now.

BK - Rupert Holmes' follow-up song "Him" also got a lot of airplay, and it's one of my all-time favorite pop songs.   I don't know how that song sold, though.
"Him" made Billboard's #6. He was no one hit wonder!
"Answering Machine" also made the top 40.
He also made the top 40 with "Jennifer Tomkins" as lead singer for Street People.

I have heard a rumor that it is possible to convert your region specific DVD player to play DVDs from all regions.

Does anyone know if this is true or just a lie to make gullible and techoignorant  people (like me) destroy their DVD players by fiddling withhe innards?
There should be a code to be able to do this. Our retailers would just provide the code I think. Manufacturers/importers in the USA have conned the USA public. I suspect most players are imported and indeed would have this code! Even Cheap DVD players here (about $50 USA) are multizone.

Ron and Dan-LOL

Ron I was out doing errands, including a trip to See’s candy.  I’m sending peanut brittle to Craig, chocolates for his girlfriend, and more peanut brittle for his girlfriend’s mother.  That will just be a portion of their care package.

I will have to leave again and let Keith have the computer.  Maybe I can find a spot to use the laptop.  I’m not sure where.  Most the time now I have to eat standing since the only table is outside.

I spy me an Elmore!  Welcome home!

Thank you, DRDanise!  Yes, the bitch is back, and a pleasant return trek it was.

DRJason, I am so sorry about your grandmother.  My maternal grandmother died in 1962 and there has not been a day in the past 43 years that I haven't missed her.

DRMBarnum, Saturday's fine with me.  Perhaps other dear readers might like to go as well?

You do have a long way to come, DR Jane.  But I am thrilled that you are coming and that you were able to get into same hotel as the rest of us.

Which reminds me, I agree with what you said to DR Jose about the suite.  It would have been nice but since we're all coming and going at different times, it would not have worked.

I was talking to someone at work about the hotel and it occured to me that it's a shame that when you book a hotel room you can't pick it like do a plane seat.  Wouldn't it be GREAT if you could see what rooms were available in the hotel on the dates you were going be there that were in your price range.

It wouldn't be 100% for sure that you would get the room--like I was bumped out of my seat on one of the flights to SLC but at least you could maybe pick the one you want and a back up if choice #1 wasn't available.

Humm, now that I think about that, maybe give you three picks so you would be sure to get one of them.   Just a thought.

DR Elmore, what did you mean when you said you wished you had asked the students questions instead of them asking you?

Didn't they ask good questions?

The students were great, but the questions, though good, were mostly things like "Have you ever written a part where you had to rewrite it in the studio because the player couldn't play it?"  I would have asked the stiudents questions like, "Claire, what do you want to do after college?"  I'd take her answer, and try to riff on it from my own experiences.

My answer to the question I was asked was that most players I know (with one exception BK knows better than I) can play mostly anything, but that I often rewrote things I had written badly or that I thought were wrong for the final mood of the number, that thinking fast on my feet in the studio was one of my assets.
