I found this:

"Some merchants authorize for more than the amount of your purchase. In certain industries, such as gasoline, restaurant, hotel, etc., the business standard may be to over authorize by $10 or $50, or by some other pre-designated amount, in order to ensure that the necessary funds to cover your purchase are available. After you've made your purchase, the merchant will confirm the actual amount within a few business days of the transaction. Upon receipt of the confirmation, your available funds will be adjusted to reflect the appropriate available funds.

For example: A gas station may over authorize your Card for $50 (usually only at pay-at-the-pump stations) even if you only pump $10 worth of gasoline. This will reduce your available funds by $50 for a short period of time. Within a few business days, the merchant will send the confirmation of your purchase for only $10. Upon receipt of that confirmation, your available funds would increase by the $40 that was being held by the $50 over authorization.

It is recommended that when using your prepaid Card for gasoline that you pay inside the station rather than use the pay-at-the-pump in order to avoid this type of over-authorization."

DBF does that also. He was over charged at the pump but it was cleared a few days later. It really irked him

I hope I am not too late

1. Will he retain ADA?

2. Will he do away with No Child left behind?

Who? Or I should say which candidate do you want to ask?  They do all have websites with a lot of the major issues. I haven't heard anyone discuss ADA.  I know Richardson wants to get rid of No Child Left Behind, most of the others want to fix it

There is a poodle in it along with Jill St. John.

As if you didn't know that was her husband at the time.   ;D

I agree Bruce.

I had a big fight with Lexis Nexis last week over $563.00 they billed my credit card and to this day have not explained to me what it was for.  I called and disputed it and raised holy hell with the company for a couple weeks, which led to me getting the charge taken off my account immediately and then they tried to overcharge me on a contract I have signed, finally they agreed to give me a step up in my contract for a huge discount rate.   I did some research today and love it. I finally have everything I need - which means I'll probably do more research and it will actually pay for itself.

BUT, if I hadn't gone over my statement line by line, and wondered what on earth I bought that increased the balance that much, I would be out $563.00.   Now that's insane.

Sometime when you have a moment (yes, that's probably a joke), look up Arnold & Marshall v. Brooksfilms.  Full of fascinating stuff (just the judge's decision is available, at least the last time we checked).  Finding these records helped really crack part of the mystery of Frances Farmer for me.  I quote some of the best lines from the Judge in my web article--reading his judgment was like at least a little bit of justice finally getting done.

My guess is, DR CILLA LIZ, that in most law offices, the person paying the bills is not usually the person who ordered/uses the software, so it is probably a common practice.

Been adding some information and photos to my Allison Hayes FreeWeb site.

I first found out about Allison's calcium supplement problems from an article in the WALL STREET JOURNAL accessed during a computer class using Lexis-Nexis.

Oy--there were three, count'em, three really bad accidents I had to deal with on the way to a gig tonight.  One of them was really, really bad--right before the entrance to a very narrow bridge, where we all had to turn left.  They had our lane blocked and we had to drive largely blind into the oncoming lane to get around them.  I was scared, no doubt about it.  The other two at least had been pulled off to the side by the time I got there.

I have been listening to Elgar (recommended by DRJOSE) and Jacky Terrason (recommended by DR ARNOLD BROCKMAN).

Very nice.

I was detoured a few times today, too....but it seemed to be construction related.  :P

I looked out of the parking ramp today when I finally got to work and mentioned to the friend I was talking on the phone to that it looked like a bus must have hit someone because there were police cars, a bus stopped in the intersection etc.

What do you know. I turned on the news tonight and a bus DID hit someone. From what I could see from the news, I think she had the right of way.  They made a big deal about how she was talking on a phone...so what, if she's got the right of way..

Something really freaky just showed up which shows what the internet can do.

When "Count Three and Pray" opened in Missouri, Allison was part of the Hollywood contingent.  Much was made of the fact that she met the local president of the FFA, Jerry Litton of Chillicothe.

Poking around on the net, I find that Mr Litton later served in the House of Representatives for Missouri and was on his way to becoming one of its Senators, when he, his wife, and daughters were killed in the crash of a small airplane...in 1976.

Looks interesting.  I do have many moments, too many actually. I tend to either be totally into what I'm doing or I stress and don't get anything done. I've always been that way, so I go with it.  I'm hoping tomorrow will be the beginning of another productive phase.

So many offices just pass Lexis Nexis charges on to the client automatically, so I'd bet a lot gets overlooked.

I'm sure it does and they panic a bit when you call them on it.

DR CILLA LIZ does Lexis Nexis have information about cases that did NOT go to trial, but were settled out of court?
