If I had had my camera at the pool on Saturday, there was the cutest little chipmunk running around. Sad to say, my friend Jeff had already packed his camera away, and he missed getting any shots of it.

Oh, I think your friend did capture the cutest little cheekmunk, I mean chipmunk, on film floating around the pool .... ;)

Good Morning!

I'm up, I'm up... And as DR Ben mentioned, it's hot today in New York City. They're calling for the temp to reach at least 97 degrees.  But again, it is summer, it is July, so it's no real surprise.  Just gotta accept and deal with it - which will make it seem cooler.  I hope.

As for dinner tonight...

Well, let's set 5:15 as the time to meet at John's Pizza.  I'll give DR vixmom a call in a bit, and if that doesn't work out, then I'll make a few more phone calls.  But for now, 5:15 at John's.

And I do hope that the vixter and the rest of her Girl Scout troop have been taught how to "function" in hot weather.  It really is going to be a hot one out there today, and just being in midtown always feels hotter than it is.

As for myself, there are a couple of things I need to take care of here at the apartment.  And then I just need to plan out my out-of-the-apartment errands for this afternoon so that I get them all done in transit and in time to meet up at John's Pizza.

Alas, with the heat today, I don't think a job or jog around the Reservoir would be advisable.

Mr Frank Sinatra.....I feel the way DR BEN does....his persona colors his performances for me....

BUT:

THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE

As for songs:

The Tender Trap.....and this may be because I like the movie with Miss Debbie Reynolds in one of her less irritating roles...and looking beautiful.

As for the Topic of the Day...

"On the Town" - Yes, the movie version does "offend" some purists, but I've always liked it.  And Sinatra playing an "innocent" is kind of fun.

"The Coffee Song" - It's just so catchy.  And the instrumental chart truly swings.

The massive revisions continue apace.  And, it seems, I need to take a moment to say goodbye to a few songs:

Wow---that IS massive! They all sound great, and enough songs that  you could release a whole "Lost In..." album just from this show!

TOD:

I am not a big FS fan either, but I did like him in ON THE TOWN and SUDDENLY.

As for his singing, I prefer his work with the big bands in the 40s.

TOD:

I read DR BEN's post on FS with interest. Growing up, I always thought I liked FS. I heard something of his recently, felt quite underwhelmed, and attributed my previous assessment to my (then) youth. Thanks to Ben and others here, I am reminded that a performer often changes/evolves and one's opinion of his/her work may also change.

As for the Brat Pack, my favorite is Sammy. I loved him then and I love him now. Incredible performer, IMO.

Thanks to DR NOEL for giving us more of the behind-the-scenes stories of the making of a musical.

I'd love to see Such Good Friends. Best of luck getting it to your satisfaction and on stage.

Ben, have Ant drop our casting director a line - it's Michael Cassara (don't know his e-mail addy offhand, but he's got a website with contact info, so google him).  Tell him that I told you to e-mail and that I'd like to see him at our regular (not EPA) audition.

Noel, I know there are two days of EPAs, so Joy should be able to tell you which you're in.

I've already been through a flurry of e-mails.  One was very sweet, from a university in England who really want to do The Brain this December.  I told them the rights aren't really available yet, but that I'd think about it anyway.

Here is a picture Sandi took of the Barn Theatre today.  Of course it's not Broadway....but it's fun.

You can't see the new construction, which I think has been completed...and we will be having our FIRST rehearsal inside it tonight!
