I spotted some bears in Los Angeles once. They were different, too.

MEDIUM was indeed picked up by CBS and will be on Fridays at 9.

Good! I hope NBC feels like the fools they are. It's hard to forgive them for canceling LIFE as well as MEDIUM.

I ordered the Ron Raines MAN OF LA MANCHA CD....featuring Kim Criswell.  The reviews were mixed, but it is the COMPLETE show.  I kept trying to win an auction for it on EBAY....but was never successful, so I just bought it NEW!!!

It's not bad, but Ron and Kim had just done the roles for the first time before the recording was made, and they needed a better director than the guy who directed it in London. I told him Cervantes needs more charm and humor when he's cajoling the prisoners to perform in his charade, that he needed to be Larry Kert and flirt with them all.

Anything is preferable to the back phrasing of the overrated Stokes Mitchell, who can be wonderful when he's given the right role. He is, however, not in the singing class of Richard Kiley, John Reardon, or Alfred Drake and people keep giving him their roles. And he takes them, which is sadder!

I had forgotten my talented friend David Charles Abell is the conductor. You and he have comething else in common besides LAMANCHA, DR JRand58!

As happy as I am that CBS decided to take "Medium", I'm still pissed at 'em for cancelling "Moonlight."

I don't think the results were that shocking. I think the pay schedule DR Cillaliz
posted was more shocking.  I think that a) shawn was way more popular than
the other 2 who were not really celebs at all. Come on, an olympic champion vs
melissa who has been popular for 10 minutes and gilles who nobody ever heard
of. Plus mark is a better choreographer IMO (much better than tony). I think shawn
did the best on monday.  Her dances were better, choreography better. The other
two were so strong on the first week. They were probably better dancers. But
shawn ended up at their same level. I was rooting for melissa. But i was fine with

I agree with your analysis of Monday.  Based on the finals the right person won

The Paleontologist's might have "IDA"

But Jose and HHW have "MONKEY"

Let's hear it for "MONKEY"

A little LOUDER next time.....

And while I was over at Steve's last night, we happened to come across some of Monkey's fellow plush pals.  It was an interesting reunion of sorts... Things we had bought when we first met over 10 years ago...

Photos of the reunion?

Speaking only for myself (of course), I've found Jenna Elfman TOTALLY RESISTIBLE as a comedienne and as an entertainer.  Never found her remotely appealing in anything.

I, too, find her appeal lacking. I'm very glad she never got to New York in the talked about but never done revival of Sweet Charity.

Aw, she always had me wrapped around her finger--I've adored her in just about everything I've seen her in.

They were looking for evidence of Indian hauntings, I think.  And she gave some cold readings to the UFO hunters.  Not sure what will be in the broadcast version....and the clips aren't up on You Tube yet.

I like her, too! I hear she can't carry a tune in a bucket and that rhythm and she are not friends; a problem for SWEET CHARITY, but I don't blame her. Or was it NINE? I blame the morons who persuaded her she could do it!

American Idol?  Is that tired old show still on?

Yep, and still the top rated show on network TV.

LOL.....but nobody chose it yesterday as their Desert Island tv show.

It's not on DVD, is it?

It sure is--lots of 'em!

Most likely he didn't. When he's here it's usually late Thursday through sometime Sunday. He doesn't have a computer at home so he checks in when he's at work. He's a desk agent at a hotel in Paris and he works weekends. It's an odd schedule as I recall and he sometimes works three weekends then he's off so he may not see his greetings for a while.

reading a book, much less WRITING a book, has become sort of a thing of the past

That's what I thought too, which makes the popularity of the Kindle so surprising to me.

Today's notes really reminded me of Monday night's episode of "Two and a Half Men." Alan has decided to write a screen play, and he starts several different versions. Each one starts out autobiographical, but every time he gets writer's block, he writes "and suddenly a giant meteor fell from the sky." (Or something like that.) So, he always starts out writing what he knows, but when he gets stuck, he writes something he knows nothing about. It was very amusing.

Of course the denizens of HHW are the exceptions to the anathema of reading and writing books.

I have just cast the role of Harry in Nudie Musical - it's Ted Detweiler, a very nice chap who appears on the TV series Sordid Lives (I think that's what it's called) - he did the Bacharach benefit, and I'm directing a club act for him, and he gave a very good reading a couple of weeks ago.  I think he'll do a very good job.  Now I must cast the Cindy role asap.  I have had two recommendations - we've talked to one of them, a Penny Pingleton from Hairspray - she's going to audition for me on the computer somehow, via Skype or iChat or something like that.  Then elmore recommended someone - and we'll be contacting her.  So, we're down to just needing a Dick Davis and Rosie right now.

American Idol prediction:

Kris Allen will win.

Rationale:

Performances notwithstanding, AI has a large active Christian following which favors the Gospel singer based contestants. In the last trio standing, both Kris and Danny had a strong Gospel following. Ryan announced that there was only 1 million votes (out of 80 cast) separating the top two (Adam and Kris). With Danny out of the running, his still-voting fans must choose between Adam and Kris – I suspect a significant part of that voter base will go to the last Gospeler standing – Kris, and that will provide him a victory margin.

Consequence – little; Adam already clearly has a performance career ahead and winning Idol or not will not substantively affect it.
