And you know how the modern woman darns damaged socks and stockings, don't you?  She holds them over the wastebasket, says "Oh, darn!", and releases.

All in good time.  I have my contact lenses in, and it is hard to read.

The Girl Can't Help It....very good choice.

Edi, DC not throwing up vibes! And good, semi stress free moving vibes!

I wouldn’t worry about Ron, somehow I suspect he has dealt with enough cat throw-up & fur balls in the past that he can handle a wee bit of cat bile conversation at breakfast. ;D

Oh, golly....I've JUST gotten back from lunch and OOF!

My, that cool morning soon evaporated into hellish hot, near-100 degree afternoon. Argh!

I began my afternoon viewing by finishing PURSUIT TO ALGIERS which I had begun last night. The ending is pretty much an anti-climax except for the one surprising reveal at the very end, but I still love the characters and all the music they shoved into the movie.

If you could call it a rock and roll movie, VIVA LAS VEGAS. If not, then none.

Next, I watched TWO SISTERS FROM BOSTON. There is mothing remotely sister-like between Kathryn Grayson and June Allyson. No wonder they never played sisters again. Kathryn's voice was just not suited to beer hall novelty numbers, but it looks like they fitted one of Norma Shearer's old costumes to her for the MARIE ANTOINETTE opera they fashioned to conclude the movie.

Movie would have been helped by being shot in color. By 1946, I'm really surprised it wasn't.

I concluded my afternoon with Monday night's THE CLOSER. Yes, I couldn't wait any longer to rewatch it and enjoy it all over again. The final interview was certainly done ingeniously.

My mail hasn't come yet today, and I'm expecting a couple of Blu-ray discs. If they come, then I'll be watching one of them tonight. If not, I've chosen my movie for this evening, but I'll wait until later to talk about it.

I, of course, remain agape with anticipation of receiving, from Toshiba, my 5 FREE HD-DVDs which were offered as rebate for the X-A2 HD-DVD player I purchased.

It's been quite some time since I mailed in my selection form and my UPC info and my receipt.  They gave all buyers until August 31 to mail in the required information.  My package went out...six weeks ago.

You'd think I might be upset at not having received them posthaste.  Somehow, though, I remain calm.  Calm.  Yes, I'm calm.

And I tell myself I'll be happy to have them by Christmas.

Not.

I'm considering eating a banana.

I tell you this in the event that someone might be considering a post about some unfortunate event that resulted in vomit, bile, puke, retching, maggots, flies, diarrhea, et. al.

I could, of course, just go away and eat my banana and not come back until I think it may be safe.

But I'm really rather fond of visiting for the nonce and would like to munch, post and read, if at all possible without hurling banana stew all over my keyboard.

Atlantan Seeks Attentionder Brucer

Not me! Not only have we already had our downstairs gutted by fire, but I was carefully taught long ago by my DH never to even fill the lawnmower tank with gasoline in the basement (especially when there's a hot water heater there!)

Just came back from loading more stuff into the house. I stopped off at Whole Foods to get some things for my "date" with Clay Aiken tonight, and they had loads of wine boxes for the taking. I filled up my car with boxes, since I haven't even begun to box up books. (This is going to be the worst part, I think!)

Hurrah for free cardboard boxes!

I almost bought this outfit at Animal Murderers Warehouse last Halloween, when my plan was to go as the forest floor. I still have my plastic spiders and snakes for a garnish.

Maybe this year...

I loved the interplay between Pope and the security guard. LOL!

Piles and purges and bile..

Oh my! (to quote Dorothy!)

I've packed up all my antique art pottery except for one vase, that has the ashes of my ancient kitty, Art. (So it is Art pottery in more ways than one.)

I felt like I didn't want to move him until we actually physically moved ourselves to the new house. I didn't want him packed up in a box, by himself there, alone.

My DH is probably going to have me committed when I tell him why I didn't pack it.

Yes, that was great. I got a lump in my throat when we saw the video footage of Pope running up to the shooting scene looking visibly upset that Brenda might have been injured or killed.

The city of New York is just "The City."

!

[whether that includes the boroughs is questionable!]

And Minneapolis/St. Paul are "The Cities"

Well, I guess I'll head down now and start the first chapter of THE DEATHLY HALLOWS. The book will have to go some to beat THE HALF BLOOD PRINCE. I thought it was a sensational book, and I can't wait to see how they film it.
