I dreamed that Eddie Murphy killed me.  God alone knows why it was Eddie Murphy, but I dreamed that he had flipped out and was on a killing spree in Middletown, OH.  So, I was at the First National Bank building on Central and Main when he showed up, and I took the stairs to the basement, where I hid in an office with Whoopi Goldberg.  After shooting his way though the building, he came to us, spoke a bit to Whoopi and then turned and shot me in the head.

Last night, we watched the 1943 version of THE DESERT SONG with Dennis Morgan.

Fantastic color print, but somebody forgot to tell the producers that they were making an operetta, NOT an action movie.

BORING!

But, it was nice to see the sets from CASABLANCA in color.

First post after seeing "Wonder Woman" at the drive-in!

;D

You should take along an FM radio and some headphones, then you could listen to the movie at the volume level you want.

I actually did that!  At lunch yesterday, I went to Fred Meyer and bought little radio that included headphones.  There was a little bit of hiss throughout tye movie, but I was able to control the volume and it didn't adversely affect my niece.

Can you set the radio to the movie channel or plug it into something?

At this drive-in, they broadcast the soundtrack over an AM radio station.  As far as I know, there isn't anything that you could otherwise just plug your own speaker into.

I'll be very curious to see what this storm brings.  Not trying to make light of it, but every time we hear these warnings, in the end, at least the ones I've read about in the past two years, don't hit or don't hit strongly and then everyone forgets all about it.  What they do with the year's worth of supplies they bought is anyone's guess.  And topping off their cars?  I remember that from the gas shortage days.

My take on the media's coverage of the weather is this:
The meteorologists KNOW how destructive these storms can be and also know how blasé some people are about it, so they really emphasize it. Big storms also happen to be good for business, which is not lost, I'm sure, on station management. Weather forecasting is tremendously tricky, with many variables. Even with supercomputers it's impossible to be exact. No one really knows exactly how things will play out.

DR DRUXY I felt the same way about THE DESERT SONG last night.....but it was interesting to see the familiar sets in color.....the leading lady was very meh, and the dance numbers were 100% weird.....  When she was on television Faye Emerson seemed very TALL, but last night she looked very petite.....

Just spent the entire afternoon writing the commentary, but it's done.  Probably lots to futz and finesse, but at least it's done and one less thing to worry about.

The reports I'm getting from San Antonio are not great. Grocery stores are running out of food (yes, even canned sauerkraut, though I think the Doritos went first).

Can you buy what you need now and drive it home with you?

My house is overloaded. Got about 15 different types of gin, 22-15 types of tequila, bourbons, scotches. Oh, and water--as a mixer, of course. Plus canned goods galore.

Why am I surprised by this?  :)

Though the canned goods do surprise me. Here I imagined ALL of John G's meals were gourmet and prepared from scratch.
 ;)

I have the canned goods because I rarely eat them.
