ASK BK

If you were to act in a film or play portraying a living or dead (or both) person who would it be?

I've got a suggestion about Topic for the Day.

Let's talk about people to whom we've loaned a VHS tape of a TV show that will never be aired again, so that the tape is pretty much irreplaceable, and the individual who gets it (that'd be DakotaCelt in my case) keeps the tape, for months and months, and never returns it. Never responds to several private emails asking when she's going to send it back. Never responds to public posts here offering to pay  to get it back.

Anyone else ever have an experience like that?

I think she posted yesterday that she had it ready to send back.

DR 3DDIFFUSION - I never send out a tape like that.  If I can't make a copy, it doesn't leave my house.  I trust people, but things happen...  I only send out things to be returned if it isn't a tragedy if I don't get them back.  If I get them back, it's a nice surprise.

Unquestionably my favorite movie biography is LOVE ME OR LEAVE ME. I never tire of watching it.

bk mentioned another favorite last night: ANNE OF THE THOUSAND DAYS.

As for made-for-TV biographies, nothing will ever beat ELIZABETH R and I, CLAUDIUS.

I agree. I lost a couple of really rare things (including the 1984 Tony broadcast with SUNDAY/LA CAGE) being generous with friends, so I learned my lesson. I make copies now.

The Blu-ray of PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: AT WORLD'S END just arrived at my door, so I'll be giving my afternoon over to that.

I meant to say that I watched THE HAPPY TIME because of the discussion here at HHW and found it delightful.  Louis Jourdan was very handsome and Mr Charles Boyer was also a lot of fun.  Bobby Driscoll was very good, too.

I think JRand offered some great advice.  It's folly to lend out anything you have only one copy of, cannot replace, and is worth so much to you that you don't care what you have to do in your attempt to retrieve it.  That said, I believe the forum member will return the tape, as she promised to do yesterday.

I hope when this tape gets back to you that you keep it and preserve it.  Never again let it out of your sight, and make sure you get it insured for its priceless value to you.

I also hope it provides you joy, solace, comfort and whatever else you can derive from it in the years to come.

To the rest of the forum, Good Morning!  It is a joy to be alive and healthy and online.

A co-worker has brought in a modem for me to try to reestablish internet connections at home.  I will give it a shot this evening.

I recorded "Bones" last night while watching "Biggest Loser".  I tried to watch it after 10 p.m., but I was about 20 minutes into it when the snoozes hit me like a ton of bricks.

It will have to wait until tonight.

I have 18 -- count 'em -- 18 movies in my DVR cache to dub onto DVD-Rs.

That's 10 Andy Hardy movies and eight Maisie movies.

Warners would do us ALL a big favor if they'd just give us the Andy Hardy and Maisie boxes that we've been clamoring for.

I don't think Warners would look at my posts and yours as quite the degree of "clamor" they'd require to move quickly on this.

DR JMK and anyone else in the discussion of "The Real McCoy's" yesterday:

I threw out a "Honey Babe" quote and asked if that had any resonance re: the TV show.

It SHOULD have been "Sugar Babe", which is what Richard Crenna's character called Kathleen Nolan's character in virtually EVERY episode.

I KNOW....even though they've dragged their feet, they did listen to US, didn't they, on the Judy-Mickey box?  The MGM musicals boxes?  The Alice Faye box? (Not that they paid close enough attention 'cause "The Gang's All Here" needs TONS of restoration still).
