Thank you to DRs George, Elmore, John G, Laura, and MBarnum for the vibes, commiserations, and good wishes.  Exercising at the Y helped, as did the nice spaghetti & salad dinner I prepared when we got home.

At Kroger:

1)  Some geezer tried to chat me up about the price of decaf coffee,
2)  The first container of cottage cheese that I took out of the cooler had an expiration date of May 1,
3)  In the check out line, after I'd waited for the 2 people ahead of me to finish and after I'd loaded half of my groceries onto the conveyor, they decided to close that register, and
4)  The bagger in the second line dropped the reusable bag into which she'd just packed my cottage cheese and vanilla yogurt.  The white stuff went everywhere and she said, "You can wash the bag..."  There was a management-type nearby, who gave me a new reusable bag, made sure I got replacements for the 2 items (which took forever), and nodded sympathetically when I told her what an awful visit to their store it had been.

Terrific story, Ginny!  Beats out my miserable day!!

That was how my Papa cooked  - I am so sorry I didn't  just  go over and watch him cook more often

Yeah, and it's how I cook at lot, too. But I can't do that in a cookbook.

I think you should throw a couple of recipes in like that  just for fun

Recipe:

Buy a block of that cheese that Daddy  liked, you know the pale yellow one that's kind buttery tasting

Boil some noodles, the kind that grandma used to use for the goulash

Just make enough to fill the blue casserole  about half way

cut up the cheese and melt it in some milk until it looks right then add it to the noodles

oh wait first mince up and onion, the kinda flat kind that are always in the special bin in the second section of the Waldbaums  produce dept

and slice up some of those white mushrooms and saute them with some sliced sweet red pepper - make enough so it mixes nice in the noodles not too much and not too little

then add the minced  chicken...

oh you need left over roast chicken for this

then sprinkle the top with seasoned bread crumbs  and cook in in the oven  till it gets brown

just make the oven medium not too hot or it will burn  but not too low or it takes too long to cook

Serves 4 - 8 depending on how hungry everyone is

For what it's worth, that would be 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes!

I don't know if George has signed out yet, but he still shows as being online.

Interesting...I closed my browser at work as soon as I posted the last post that I posted.

I forgot to check on the smiley animation.

I would think that the new version of the board just has a different set of smilies available, and these aren't animated...they're .gifs, but not animated gifs.

Just a thought.
