Well, you've read the notes, you know everything about everything and now it is time for you to have a marvelous time posting all your inner and outermost thoughts.
-
Good Morning!
Well... I guess I'm not sleeping tonight... Hopefully, I'll get a few winks on the plane, but since I usually don't sleep on planes...-Even on the 14 hours flight to and from Australia last year, I really didn't sleep much. However, strangely, I really didn't have any jet lag one way or another. (Ah, a Blondie (Debbie Harry) reference!)
Unfortunately, part of my inability to sleep right now is that I've been going back through my luggage looking for something. My checkbook! AAAGGGHHH! I have absolutely no idea where it could be, and I literally unpacked everything and search any possible hiding places, and found nothing. Well, I found some stuff, but not the thing I was/am looking for. I either accidentally threw it out with the junk mail garbage I sorted out this afternoon. Or I left it at my cousin Angie's place - but I sort of noticed it missing there, so I looked while I was there. Or I might have shipped it back in the boxes that I shipped home last week. In any case, since it's a checkbook, any kind of "crime" will be easy to trace and to stop. -Now I just need to figure out what number check was the last one I wrote. I'm hoping it's just somewhere wedged between some papers or even some clothes in my luggage. We shall see...
-
Hmmm... My airport shuttle is supposed to be here in an hour...
Tick-Tock
Tick-Tock
Tick-Tock...
-
OK... I'll see you guys in a couple of hours... from the East Coast!
Laters!

Good early morning all!
I’m so glad to hear that WHAT IF? had such a nice send off! There is always something bitter/sweet about the ending of a show. Funny how a little group can become a “family” if only for a short time.
Well, the big news around here is Jeanne. The track has changed and it looks like she is going to be coming right over US!
Bear woke me up because he was scared of the howling wind so I thought it a good thing to get up and have a look/see as to where she was at. We are just starting to get the outer bands of the really strong stuff. Obviously we still have power as I type this but that might change in the next few hours so don’t worry if you don’t hear from me.
We have a fairly big branch outside the kitchen door but I can’t really see it all that well. I guess I’ll see what is what when the sun comes up.
I wanted to chime in on the chimes. I think it would depend on if you can deal with the constant ting, ting, ting. I would think that would be nice for the first five minutes and then it would have to come down. I don’t think I could take it.
Mini Series—I have many favorites there. V, The Stand, North and South Books One & Two, Pride and Prejudice to name a few.
Let me post this much before something happens to the power.
I know I missed being able to say it to you but "Safe Trip, Jose!"
-
****SAFE VIBES, DR DANISE!***
-
Thanks, Panni!
Just heard on the news that the local EOC played all the What If's last night! We're in danger and their rehearsing the play???????? :o :D :D :D :o

Safe vibes to DRDanise (dressed for election day) - and all DR's in FLA!
DRJOSE is in the air as we speak! He may be flying over my house!
So glad that WHAT IF was fun for MR BK - and that things worked out best of all in this best of all possible worlds - Westphalia.
Well how does one begin to meet an inventor with 100 boy toys in his BIG house up on Sunset Plaza Drive? I guess one would have to look a certain way to begin with, so I suppose I am lucky to know the people I know here at HHW!
Sunday....chat....tonight....hurray!
Free for all day!
Well we started last night, why don't we see what unusual or interesting things we can find up for bid on Ebay today? I will go look for something now, and then it will be YOUR turn...Yes - YOU!!
-
I'm going to work on a new outfit or a least a new picture soon. I've just been to busy.
The power flickered there for a moment so I think we will lose it soon.
-
Oh DRDANISE - Halloween is coming up! ;D
Well EBAY is full of stuff today....it was hard to choose something to start out with....but here it is:
For only 99 cents - from Karen Lustgarden, the First Lady of Disco...the COMPLETE book of Disco Dancing! Get out those NikNik shirts and those LP Singles, folks!
And as Van McCoy would say: Do the hustle!
-
Happy Landings, DR Jose, and thanks once again for making us part of the What If and LA experiences. (I had to skip your posts yesterday because I was fasting.)
-
I don't usually say this, but Skammen.
Archie and I went for a long walk through High Park. It's a splendid day and we met all sorts of canine friends.
But no new posts to come home to.
Not that I have much to report. Except that I broke the fast yesterday with a slice of honey cake - the untried recipe I posted for DR Emily. And, IMHO, it's a great cake.
-
Glad, bk, that you were happy with WHAT IF? and hope it has a life down the road, perhaps so some of us East Coasters could see it.
Funny about final shows, but rarely are they the equal to the next-to-closing show. I don't know why that is, but I always dread it when I know someone is going to record the last show of a run because I know the recording will be flawed, sometimes pretty severely.
-
I'm off to Paris for the afternoon - Paris, Ontario.
-
[sigh] We're bracing for Hurricane Jeanne to sweep through the area late Monday and Tuesday. Though we more than likely won't get the brunt of it, the spillover will be messy and a chore. Mowed my grass this morning since the yard will be soup for the next several days.
-
I will be watching the extras on the FOREIGN CORRESPONDENT DVD this afternoon, but then I'm not sure where my DVD watching will take me. It will certainly be a surprise even to me. (If I have time, that is. I want to give part of the afternoon over to rehearsing music and lines in preparation for rehearsal tonight. Consequently, I can't be at chat this evening due to rehearsal.)
-
BK,
Congratulations on a successful run that brought so much pleasure. My What If Q:
How many people do you calculate saw What If?
-
Well, the funny thing is that even though we played seven weeks we only really did about twenty-eight performances (with previews). So, I'd estimate that we had a couple of thousand people see it.
-
Good morning. Soon I'll be on my way to drop off some things in the Goodwill box, then off to the Farmers Market to score some fresh produce. Then a ton of work to catch up on.
-
Might I just ask where in tarnation IS everyone?
Today I shall do nothing whatsoever except watch DVDs, hang a few various and sundried pictures on various and sundried walls, perhaps take a dip in the pool (maybe onion dip - that would be good in the pool) and perhaps take a walk. I think the food I ate last night is not agreeing with me. I always like my food to agree with me - I like everyone and everything to agree with me.
-
Not sure where everyone else is, but I am here.
Watched two movies last night: the comedy Duplex with Ben Stiller and Drew Barrymore, and Thirteen. My sister just got the movie network. So she's been taping some movies from 2002/2003. And I borrowed the tape.
-
JRand-great Collie story.
I only read the Betty Hutton interview-some interview. It is amazing what they put up with performers these days and back then her incredible talent was left untapped.
And for your personal comment regarding my post ;D, not that I get it. But then, like Danise, I’m a bit naïve at times. :D
Which movie did Betty Hutton and Fred Astaire do together?
-
Oh, man, this isn't going to be one of THOSE days is it? We need reading matter, you dear, dear people out there in the dark. Let's get some topics going, shall we?
-
Bruce-very sweet picture of you and Jennifer. Panni thanks for posting it. I also liked your blouse.
Jose you do not need a haircut. :D You never made it to DuPars! Thank you for allowing us to tour L.A. with you. And good luck finding your checkbook.
Matt H, please keep us posted on your situation tomorrow.
-
Sorry, I must go as the dryer keep buzzing for me.
Bruce, is Jennifer still in town or did she just come in for the show last night?
-
She leaves today at two. She and her friend said they might drop by to say bye but I haven't heard anything as of yet.
This isn't going to be one of THOSE days, is it?
-
It sure is. Did they drive to L.A.? If so how long a drive is it?
I will return after I shower.
-
I'll bite. What was Ryan's replacement song?
-
Maybe DD stopped by as I didn't get a response to my questions.
-
She's flying home, Jane.
Ryan's song was about a young man who thinks he was born too late and wishes he could go back to his favorite era and be part of it. That era? Disco. It turned out to be a really good number for him, and the choreography was tops, with all the disco moves you'd ever want. The audience ate it up, really. Maybe I'll print the lyric later. I can say one thing - it gave Jose quite a workout on the keyboard.
-
Hi divarobbie. Did you meet with the board yet today?
-
Just came back from the market. Got some lovely tomatoes and peaches. I sampled some strawberries and they were to die for -- but I'm not much of a strawberry eater, so didn't buy any. That's all the exciting news from here. I don't think I'll be posting much today, so you'll have to manage without me.
-
Have a nice day while you aren't posting.
-
Jose got a disco workout on the keyboard....interesting.
-
We are working on the yard and painting the fence today. So I am outside most of the time.
-
divarobbie has left us-possible to go to his meeting.
-
JRand you are reminding me to get back to work. I still have to sort through all the clothes I took out of my closet when we got our new carpeting. I really don't want to pack them all back in. It is very difficult for me to toss, or give away anything. But I must.
-
Here is the lyric for the new song:
I’ve always felt I was born too late
That this is not my time
That this is not my place
I hate the music – hate the clothes they wear
They just can’t compare
With the way it was in my favorite era
Don’t you think it’s sad when they clear away
Everything that’s great
But what if I could find a time machine
And go back in time, to the time that was prime
To the wonderful time where I’m
At the disco
I want disco
I want dancin’ and romancin’ at the disco
Where the colored lights are turning
The fever’s always burning
On Saturday night, baby, everything’s right
At the disco
Gimme disco
Where the white suits are the right suits at the disco
Where the beat is always thumpin’
The joint is always jumpin’
The air is alive, c’mon, baby, let’s drive
Down the Disco Highway
Hearin’ disco music On the Radio
You know you Can’t Stop the Music at the YMCA
It’s a Disco Inferno, so Shake Your Booty today
With my hair so big it looks like a hive
Got the Night Fever, baby, and I Will Survive
(dance break)
At the disco
I love disco
I’m arrivin’ and I’m thrivin’ at the disco
While the Macho Men keep movin’
The Bee Gees keep on groovin’
How deep is your love – that’s what I’m dreamin’ of
At the disco
Bring back disco
Like a jolt’a John Travolta at the disco
Where you love to do The Hustle
Give Bad Girls all your muscle
And dance all night long – baby, what can go wrong
I want disco
Gimme disco
I love disco
Bring back disco
Save the Last Dance for me
At the disco – ‘cause that’s where I want to be!
-
Bruce-how fun. :D I wasn’t expecting the back to time to be the Disco. ;D
-
Fred Astaire and Betty Hutton did a 1950 musical for Paramount called LET'S DANCE. They were ill-matched, and the movie isn't very enjoyable despite each star having a star turn or two that entertains. They do a number together in cowboy outfits (a Western "My One and Only Highland Fling" or "Couple of Swells"), but those other numbers were far more entertaining than the one in LET'S DANCE.
-
Thanks, DR Jane. I will report faithfully on weather occurrences. You'd never know we were in for anything looking at the weather today: absolutely splendid.
-
I pikced out THE IRON GIANT for viewing this afternoon, but I didn't get very far in before I had to shut it off and get ready for the rest of the day. There is never enough time to do everything I want to do every day - and I'M RETIRED! Goodness knows how I ever managed to get ANYTHING done when I was working full-time.
-
Good Afternoon!
I'm home! Well, at least back in Fairfax at my parents' house, and I'm about to head over to my brother's new place so that I can attend my niece's birthday party.
A good flight back, no major traumas, no major worries... (Ah, a Romance, Romance reference).
Well, just wanted to check in and say HI!
OH! And DR JRand54 - You have mail!
Laters...
-
Wow! Only on Page 2!?!?!?!
Do I really need to ask the question? ;)
-
Dan-in-TO:
I'm still grateful for the honey cake recipe and while it hasn't been made yet for lack of buckwheat honey in my pantry - it's on my to-do list for sure :)
-
It's not going to be one of THOSE days is it? I'm being very lazy, but then I didn't get to bed until three and I was up at eight, so I'm feeling dazed and confused and also confused and dazed. I'm trying my best to finish Pierrot Le Fou but it's very slow going and there is still forty-five minutes left. Me want to start on Alias, plus I want to watch Tess, which I just picked up an early copy of.
-
This morning, I had a very yummy breakfast of cake and Cherry Coke.
The furry brown meowing lump that usually sits on my lap is instead on the floor playing with an empty plastic bag and is being very noisy about it.
I need to go digging through my room and find a couple papers I wrote last semester so I can make them longer and turn them in again for different classes. I hope I didn't throw them out. Then I would actually have to do some homework. (Oh, the horror!)
-
BK - No matter how different the new book is from the Kritzer Trilogy I am sure it will be great. One of the true tests of a writer is their versatility. You don't want people thinkjing you can only write one type of book. Also, have you thought of doing WHAT IF in NYC? I can't remember the last good revue that was done here (excluding songwritter anthologies).
MEET JOHN DOE is a textbook case of how to convert a movie into a musical (using the film's original ending, not the one substituted after only a few showings). And yet I'm sure people who have never seen the film would appreciate it too. It was very well done (especially considering the Stanwyck role was a last minute replacement --- a wonderful Donna Lynne Champlin for Christianne Noll who was really wrong for the material) with a knockout eleven o'clock number and a good score. I hope it has a future. However I was a bit surprised not to see a credit for Frank Capra and whoever wrote the original screenplay, since without them there couldn't have been the musical in the first place.

THE FLETCHER CHRONICLES:
Yesterday was a great day for Fletcher, the Dalmatian puppy. The Delaware SCPA was holding a Doggy Hour at a place in town called Aqua, which has a beach motif and an island-themed menu. People were invited to come with their dogs (at a $5 cover for the people) and meet, as well as meet other dogs that were up for adoption.
Fletcher got along fine with everyone, both two-legged and four. Der Brucer was looking for a playmate for Fletcher, however, which gave our visit some purpose. There was another Dal in attendance, named Blue because she has one blue eye. Nice as she was, she wouldn't make a good companion for Fletcher, as she's already ten years old, but she'd make a wonderful companion for an older couple. Most of the dogs were much smaller than Fletch, probably not the best idea for a playmate since he plays a little rough and needs someone his own size.
Then there was a boxer, named Solo. He was about the right size, and the right age, and had a pretty brindle coat. He was a bit aloof when it came to paying any attention to Fletcher or der Brucer, although he liked the scritches I gave his jowls. And der Brucer started thinking that maybe this boxer would make the best playmate.
By today, however, der B. was having second thoughts. "I don't know if we've got enough room for another dog. When they decide to cuddle together, there isn't enough room on the bed for ME!"
Meanwhile, Fletcher has been playing more and more with Buster and Bonnie. Even Marty seems to be relaxing around him, letting Fletcher wash his face. A sixth addition to the family might not be necessary.
-
Yes, I agree DRMATTH - Let's Dance was a low point for both Hutton and Astaire who just didn't match up.... :-\
(http://www.fredastaire.net/posters/letsdance.gif)
-
Thanks DRJOSE....you walked too far down the street.
Allison lived at 1757 North Orange Grove Avenue.....but thanks for the lovely pictures of 1725....I appreciate the effort!
-
Is this going to be one of THOSE days?
-
I have a topic for discussion. What is your favorite kind of diet soft drink?
I tried a new one today that I have never tried. If you like root beer, I would strongly recommend Diet A&W Root Beer. It is so delicious.
My regular favorite is diet Nestea ice tea.
And one I've always wanted to try (but cannot find here) is diet cream soda. Has anyone tried that one?
-
Got Tu Go Disco!
-
Oh yes DRJENNIFER diet Cream Soda when you can find it is delicious.
I also like me some Diet Vernor's!
But Diet Pepsi is the drink for me, regularly.
-
Dan-in-TO:
I'm still grateful for the honey cake recipe and while it hasn't been made yet for lack of buckwheat honey in my pantry - it's on my to-do list for sure :)
Emily, not to worry. I don't like to offer untested recipes, but I had a hunch about this one. I wouldn't change a thing. Even the DP - who can be very picky - agreed it's a winner.
-
The only diet beverage I like is water. Even diet Cherry Coke doesn't do it for me. I need sugar!!
-
Jane, not only is Bruce's lyric to the disco number great, but the music is as well. And it was ably performed and a crowd-pleaser the night I saw it. In fact, there were quite a few good Kimmel numbers in the show besides the witty What Ifs. I think it may be time for Guy Haines to do an exclusively Kimmel album.
-
Mr. Grant Geissman and I were talking about Mr. Haines last night. We shall see what we shall see.
I'm feeling a bit logey and my throat is bugging me, which I think is due to not enough sleep over the last few days. And I cannot sleep in tomorrow as I must take my car in to be serviced at seven o'clock.
Is this going to be one of THOSE days? It's shameful, really, to abandon those of us who are here waiting to read excellent postings.
I'm on my second episode of Alias, season three. I'll have more to say when I've finished the third episode.
-
Chat in a mere one hour and forty minutes.
-
We were at a delightful garden party in Paris (Ontario). Paris is an old mill town, and our friend has a large and gracious home. There's lots of art - indoor and outdoor - and the garden has never looked better. His parties are always outstanding - interesting people and excellent food, and lots of both. I fasted yesterday, but more than made up for it today.
Panni, was Dufflet one of the top bakers when you were in Toronto? She was among the guests, and outdid herself in the dessert department (e.g. a chocolate pastry filled with rich, creamy chocolate; lemony tarts; and oatmeal-apple squares).
-
Welcome five GUESTS. Why don't you come out of the woodwork and have some fun? Fun is what I'm talkin' about.
-
Matt H thanks for the movie info and I bet you really enjoyed today’s weather knowing what tomorrow may bring.
Jose I hope my flights go as well next Sunday. How was the party?
Michael Shayne did Jeanne cause any damage where you live?
-
Sandra I do hope that brown lump of fur does not play with plastic bags unsupervised.
SWW it sounds like the gang is finally bonding with Fletcher. Maybe you can simply find a dog park with other big dogs. :)
-
Charles Pogue it is so good to have you back, and I look forward to hearing the song, and one day seeing WHAT IF. How is the filming in New Zealand (do I have the location correct?) coming along?
DiT the party and food sound great-wish I had been there.
-
DIT - I don't know Dufflet. But her baking sounds like I should.
-
Did someone say diet soda? I say caffeine free diet Pepsi I also like flavored seltzers.
I wonder if there has been any studies done about the effect of diet soda on one's blood sugar and insulin levels.
-
Love reading all the Sunday posts!! Glad "Cabaret" is over for the week, it's been a good week with tech and all and everyone I've talked to has loved the show. I don't know if there are any pictures on the site yet, but the URL for the company is bbbay.org Since I've been "Caberet-ing" all week, my ever-loving Eric is taking me out to dinner this eve, he won't say where, but we sorta gotta dress up... no shorts and stuff... anyhow, it should be exciting.
-
Chat is open, you people.
-
CHAT IS OPEN, you people. It's just me and Ben right now, and if it continues to be me and Ben this will be the last chat for quite some time.
-
There are finally a few people in chat and we're having a splendidly splendid civilized chat. Those who have been in absentia all the livelong day (you know who you are) are in for a large bitch-slapping fest when they finally show their mugs around these here parts.
-
I haz spoken.
-
Matthew glad the show went well. Did you have a nice dinner?
Today we saw WIMBLEDON. We had intended on see GARDEN STATE but Keith made an error in the starting time. I still plan to see GS but the feel good movie today was perfect. I didn’t think about my back once. :D
-
Yes, certain "cheerleaders" will be bitch-slapped from here to eternity and hell and back for their blatant disregard of this here site today and chat this evening. As James Mason said in North by Northwest: "Games? Must we?"
-
Chat is still going on - even Swishy Sarah is there.
-
And those who attended chat know which classic cheesy horror film remake I'm rewriting.
-
Thanks DRJOSE....you walked too far down the street.
Allison lived at 1757 North Orange Grove Avenue.....but thanks for the lovely pictures of 1725....I appreciate the effort!
I guess it's on my shoulders once again.
;D
-
Just left a sparkling chat. I'm now off to bed at 9:53 pm in NYC. I must to work at 6am tomorrow. Nytol!
-
I took The Dear Mother to a recital by Dame Kiri Te Kanawa this afternoon at the Orange County Performing Arts Center, Dear Readers. The Dame was in marvelous voice, and she offered a wide-ranging program that included Handel, Vivaldi, Strauss, Berlioz, Poulenc, Wolf-Ferrari and the very rare non-operatic Puccini. Mr. Warren Jones was the terrific accompanist.
I will be seeing Dame Kiri again later this year when she takes the title role of Vanessa at the Los Angeles Opera.
-
SWW it sounds like the gang is finally bonding with Fletcher. Maybe you can simply find a dog park with other big dogs. :)
Hoo and ray for bonding. It took a while for Marty to take to Buster, so adding Fletcher to the mix is just part of what happens, I guess. That, and the older dogs don't understand that Fletch can't hear them when they bark at him.
Dog parks? It's not that kind of community. People walk with their dogs along the town streets, just being sociable. Now that the tourist season is over, the residents can take over and be friendly again.
-
As James Mason said in North by Northwest: "Games? Must we?"
Speaking of North by Northwest...
A friend of ours, Charles, runs a very nice bistro called Cafe Zeus here in Rehoboth Beach. He and his partner, John, are planning a film night for Halloween. They've fairly well settled on North by Northwest as being the first half of a double bill. The question is, what should they show as the second feature?
On the on hand, they could stick with Hitchcock. This, to my mind, would suggest a Jimmy Stewart film, either Vertigo or Rear Window, although The Man Who Knew Too Much has a certain que sera appeal.
On the other hand, they could go in a totally different direction, and stick with trains. Murder on the Orient Express has an elegant appeal, and would pair nicely with NxNW. That, and since Charles is an excellent chef, he could devise a menu linking to the classic train dining experiences from the past.
Does anyone out there have any other ideas for movie pairings? Food pairings with the films would also be appreciated; Charles is one of the leading chefs in town, and has been invited by the Governor of Delaware to help prepare a "state" dinner in the near future.
-
Good news on the health front: Most of my recent "indisposal" has cleared up. I still have a lingering cough, and some snuffles, but the only real problem remaining is a congested left ear, which is making it difficult for me to hear and is throwing my balance off (as if anyone could tell).
Thanks again to all who sent vibes; they were and are appreciated.
-
I'd say we need about six frenzies right about now unless, of course, this is going to be one of THOSE days.
-
Just wanted to do my nightly check-in. Rehearsal was basically going over things blocked last week when people were absent. Those of us who were there felt like our time was just a bit wasted. At least, I am off book for the portions of the show that have been blocked and that includes two musical numbers and the dialogue. We should finish Act I tomorrow night.
-
My favorite diet soda is one produced regionally here; DR Jose and I have talked about it before: Diet Cheerwine.
Of the national colas, I prefer Pepsi One, but really, I'm not that particularly about my diet soda. Diet Coke, Diet Pepsi, Diet Coke with Lime, Pepsi One: they're all good to me. I buy what's on sale.
-
I don't really have much to say.
I finished my cake, and there's only one can of Cherry Coke in the fridge.
I found one of those papers from last semester. Now I just have to retype it and recycle it.
-
Yes, certain "cheerleaders" will be bitch-slapped from here to eternity and hell and back for their blatant disregard of this here site today and chat this evening. As James Mason said in North by Northwest: "Games? Must we?"
Right. Certain cheerleaders do not play "games." And seeing as how certain cheerleaders were around for many days this past month or two when nobody else was, another approach might be to say, "Hope you're having a pleasant Sunday. We look forward to your return." But that's just my humble opinion...
-
Speaking of Fred Astaire and LET'S DANCE, I remember him on Dick Cavett's talk show one night, and Dick was showing clips from lots of Fred's films, but the clips included none of his RKO or MGM work. They were clips from Paramount films like HOLIDAY INN ("Say It with Firecrackers"), BLUE SKIES ("Puttin' on the Ritz"), FUNNY FACE ("Let's iss and Make Up"), and LET'S DANCE ("Piano Dance"). Fred was gracious as always in tellinjg Dick how pleased that clips had been chosen from films he REALLY liked, and I found that very surprising that he'd like that LET'S DANCE number (a bunch of cats come running ouot of the piano at the end of it).
-

They've fairly well settled on North by Northwest as being the first half of a double bill. The question is, what should they show as the second feature?
North By Northwest is always welcomed viewing, but what the heck does it have to do with Halloween?
-
Humble opinion? We don't need no stinking humble opinion.
-
And one for Mahler.
-
And they said we'd never reach page four - we have, no thanks to certain errant and truant cheerleaders who certainly must have had a pleasant Sunday ignoring one and all and also all and one on this here site.
-
Dinner was fabulous. A place called Amber India at Santana Row in San Jose. I've never had Indian food and it was quite scrumptious. I think ever-lovin' Eric's mission in life is to open my mind to different foods, it's working!
-
North By Northwest is always welcomed viewing, but what the heck does it have to do with Halloween?
I think Charles is going for the suspense angle. After all, not everything that is spine-tingling is about ghosties and ghoulies. And, what with the local Sea Witch Festival, which coincides with Halloween, the ghosties and ghoulies is a bit overdone, not to mention co-opted for other purposes.
Besides, we just got rid of the tourists for this year. It's time for us locals to celebrate our holidays with class!
-
I just watched some of the documentary work that goes with the 2-DVD set for Strangers on a Train. Much as Farley Granger is a nice fellow, I don't think he had the inner strength to properly play Guy Haines, or at least not the Guy Haines I've met.
-
I have been errant and truant (and even truant and errant) all day. I even missed tonight's chat...but with good reason.
-
Okay - I've been threatened...
-
So if something happens to me - remember the word...
-
...Guy Haynes.
-
What are you all going to do when I'm away for two weeks?
-
...Or are you thinking that I'm going to post as usual...
-
...from Budapest and Rome?
-
I went to bed VERY late last night (actually this morning...I was just dinkering around on the computer, working on project for work) and didn't get out of bed today until noon-thirty or so. After I woke and showered, I got back on the computer and continued working on this project for work. It's a PowerPoint presentation that has photographs of these life-sized Lewis and Clark cut-outs that were photographed visiting several of our library branches. I'm putting together a narration and background music soundtrack to accompany the pictures. The whole thing will then be presented at our All Staff Day in October. I don't quite remember how I got tricked...uhh, selected to be part of this, but "selected" I was.
-
Panni, why can't you post from Budapest and Rome??
-
Because if that's what you're thinking...
-
...you're sadly mistaken. Or happily mistaken.
-
Are we at 136 yet?

...I think I may decide to recognize the NEW ATL of 121 and aim for that.
-
Because I sure as hell am not doing yet ANOTHER 30 posts.
-
George - Lewis and Clark are no excuse for being E and T. Martin and Lewis, maybe, but not Lewis and Clark.
-
Panni, why can't you post from Budapest and Rome??
Because I'm going to be busy having fabulous European adventures. And I didn't say I wouldn't post at all - but certainly not at the rate I usually post...
-
Have I mentioned that I was threatened?
-
Anyway, I worked on the project for work until about 5:00 when I went with my family (my sister, my niece, my parents, my sister's boyfriend) and my sister's ex-mother-in-law (who lives next to my sister) to The Olive Garden to celebrate the birthdays of both my sister (Diane) and her ex-mother-in-law (also named Diane), which are on September 27 and exactly 20 years apart (and they both married men named Marty!). My sister will be 40 and her ex-m-i-l Diane will be 60. Everybody had something different. My niece had Capellini Pomodoro (Roma tomatoes, garlic, fresh basil and extra-virgin olive oil tossed with capellini, which is angel hair pasta). My dad had the Tour of Italy sampler plate. My mom had the Create a Sampler Italiano with calamari, stuffed mushrooms and toasted meat ravioli (which she didn't like, but I did!). And I had the all-you-can-eat pasta. I started off with roasted garlic alfredo (very good!) and whole wheat fettuccine. After that I had the four-cheese marinara and spaghetti. I had too much, but it was damn good! For dessert, I had the chocolate lasagna...to die from! (a Jerry's Girls reference)

Jane, thanks. Good to be back. I haven't really seen any footage from what's going on down in New Zealand. My NBC producer was going to try to send me some of the digital dailies to my computer yet. As far as he can tell everything's okay and they seem to be filming what we've written, minus the usual line here or there. We'll see, we'll see. I never expect anything to be as good as the script.
-
I have REVENGE OF THE MIDDLE AGED WOMAN on in the bg. Comedy is hard to write, people. This being a case in point.
For and earlier version of this film, consult STOLEN, ONE HUSBAND w Valerie Harper, Elliot Gould and Brenda Vaccaro.

Hello all. I have been out and about all day. Among other things, I went to "singing school" at a neighboring church. The thought of my singing should bring fear to you all.
-

Normally, I would agree with you, but today I was gone all day. After dinner we went to my sister's house, I only got home about an hour ago. Tomorrow I HAVE to get to work early so that I can leave early because my niece and I are going to the Seattle Storm (women's basketball) at home playoff game! This is the second time that they've gone to the playoffs and on Saturday, they won their very first ever playoff game...and it was an away game! Tomorrow they have a game at home and they have a much, much much (that's three muches) easier time of winning when they play in Seattle. It should be a very good game!
Anyway, on Tuesday, I am starting a house-sitting gig and I have to be there at 7:00 to meet with the owners one last time before they leave for Europe (maybe you'll see them, Panni! ;) ) for a month! And the person who is putting the whole presentation together wants everything done by Wendnesday! I'm not going to be home Monday or Tuesday night!! So, I'm going to be very busy this week!

Only 7 more and I can relax again. I was having a nice quiet day and then...
-
Who is Guy Haynes?
-
I think NBC made a rather large faux pas in not casting me as Hercules, now that I have abs and buns of steel.
-
One more episode of Alias (number six for today) and then the notes and then to bed.
-
Gee, I got us to page four AND five. Will wonders never cease? Will ceases never wonder?
-
My throat still feels sketchy.

Bruce, you are a marvel (not the comic, just a marvel)!

Gone? All day? That's a lame excuse. An excuse that needs crutches.

Did you not read my story?? That's not good enough?? :'(
-
I might as well go for the REAL ATL number.
-
Who is Guy Haynes?
That's for me to know and you to find out. But watch out for him. he is DANGEROUS.
-
The biggest problem with the project is that I actually have to record myself reading the narration. I'm recording it directly into my computer and I can't do that at 2:00 in the morning. If I didn't have a housemate, or if he was gone, I could...but I do and he isn't. So I have to try and find some time to do the last few clips. So far, I've done 35 and I only have five or so more. Then I have to add the music in the background, but all of that's already been recorded into the computer. I don't have to talk or make any noise for the rest. I can hear everything with my headphones and do what I need to do quietly.
-

Stories. We don't need no stinkin' stories.
-

Someone should have threatened them -- and you'd be in New Zealand right now. Oh well. Too late.
-
Are we there yet?
-
I'm really hungry.
-
All this posting has really given me an appetite.
-
Two women on the news are describing how a plane fell on them on the freeway. They were listening to a tape on miracles when the accident happened. They believe that it was a miracle they weren't killed. I don't understand this kind of thinking....
-
Speaking of miracles...

...136. My work here is done. And aren't you glad?
-
I have a topic for discussion.
As much as Diet Coke is the Official Drink of HHW, I do prefer Diet Pepsi. After that, I'll take any diet cola. For some reason, I can't stand regular colas, at all. I'm not a tea drinker, either and I've never tried diet cream soda.

If it weren't for you Panni, we wouldn't be where we are today! ;D

Appreciation at last!

What about the (now somewhat) obscure "Who Is Killing the Great Chefs of Europe? (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0078488/)"
-
According to the IMDb, Mystery abounds when it is discovered that, one by one, the greatest Chefs in Europe are being killed. The intriguing part of the murders is that each chef is killed in the same manner that their own special dish is prepared in.
-
It stars George Segal, Jacqueline Bisset and Robert Morley. I haven't seen this since...probably when it first came out! I remember liking it very much...but I was young. I couldn't tell a good movie from a bad, even if it came up behind me and KISSED MY ASS! (almost a BK reference ;D )
-
I'd say we need about six frenzies right about now unless, of course, this is going to be one of THOSE days.
BK,
[move=left,scroll,6,transparent,100%]THANKS TO PANNI,[/move]
today was not one of THOSE days!

Shouldn't that be "...is killed in the same manner in which their own special dish is prepared?" Just to be grammatically fussy.
-
But thanks for the film idea. I'll pass it on.

No problem. :)

Yes, I met with "the board." I suggested Oliver! They countered with a musical version of The Hobbit. I recommended they find a new director if they want me to work with stinking hobbitses. I am now awaiting a final outcome.
-
It's time for me to leave the Wonderful World of Haines His Way. I have to get up early and I'd actually like to get to bed early. We'll see! Until next time!
-
I am SO disappointed. I decided to throw out a pile of newspapers I've had sitting around unread for days. One of them was a freebie paper, The Tolucan. I took a quick look through it before tossing it and discovered an ad for "comeback performances" at a North Hollywood restaurant by an incredible singer/comedienne who was a close friend until we lost track of each other a couple of years ago. I tried to find her, but finally gave up, thinking she didn't want to be found.
The last of the series of performances was tonight. I could have gone, had I known. Before we lost track, she went through some tough times and I constantly told her that she was indeed going to have a fabulous comeback and I'd be there to cheer her on. If I'd only looked at that paper a few days ago! SKAMMEN.
-
Might as well... And one for Mahler.
-
Good-night, DR George.
