Is there no Blu-Ray release of Sweeney?

It looks like there was supposed to be an HD-DVD of "Sweeney Todd," but that (of course) has been cancelled.  I just got back from going to Costco at my lunch time and was hoping to buy the Blue-Ray DVD of "Sweeney" and if they had had it, I would've gone right across the store and gotten a Blue-Ray DVD player...because I can...right now and only right now. :) Anyway, they didn't have it, so I bought the "Fleet Street Gift Set" that includes the 2-disc DVD and a photo book.  It's a limited edition gift set of only 3000 copies.  So, that's what I got.

That would be what I have.

DR TCB, Doctor Phil had a whole show on MRSA today. I was horrified by the stories so I hope things are going well for you and the treatments are taking affect.

I just bought tickets for the Carl Rosa Opera Company's production of The Mikado. Supposedly, they are using the costumes from TOPSY-TURVY. I'm going to take Greg's sis and her DH for his birthday present. Anyonme seen this production? I'm quite excited...

This exact production came to Olympia last year...or was it 2006?  It was wonderful!  They are also coming again on April 25 with "HMS Pinafore."  I'm ushering for that, so I'll get to see it for free. :D

I certainly wish that some day I could meet either Mr. David, or Mr. Bacharach, or possibly both.  I would love to be able to thank them, in person, for writing the theme from THE APRIL FOOLS.  It remains one of my favorite songs of all-time.

Recorded by Percy Faith, of course.

I don't know if the cast is the same as the videotaping they're selling, but Donald Maxwell and Gillian Knight were with the D'Oyley Carte company for years.

It can be a very frightening, and sometimes fatal, disease.  Thanks for your concern, Lar.

This is the first day in quite a while when I have been able to choose what to do. With family, meetings, deadlines, etc., I have been very busy.

Thanks for the link, Elmore! I couldn't find much info on the production, but couldn't imagine it not being exciting. The only G&S that has been available here is our own Atlanta company (which isn't bad.) so I've never seen a production like this. I read Greg the description form the website:

Carl Rosa Opera’s production of The Mikado, seen for the first time in 1998, was based on the original Savoy production of 1885. Gilbert’s own prompt book was the source for the direction, staging, and choreography.

It also presents a faithful reproduction of the original stage settings, using the costumes and sets seen in Mike Leigh's film. Many drawings, photographs, designs, and other research material have been unearthed for this ongoing project that has taken four years to co-ordinate.

...and he suddenly became interested, because it sounded similar to the work that our own Elmore does!

I'm glad to hear that George liked it, too! Perhaps the other productions will come here as well. (HMS P & Iolante!)

I'm listening to four CDs worth of Bill Conti's score to North and South.  One or two would have sufficed, really, as there is a LOT of repeated music - a LOT.

Can't remember exactly what we're doing this evening, but I suspect it's more scene work, especially with The Brain, Zubrick, and Yoni.
