Good morning, DRLAURA.....working so early?
DR DtM - "...the end of Ricoh...." LOL :)
Thank you to the DRs who recommended the very amusing "Shaun Of The Dead". (Rodzinski or Jed perhaps!).
I also need to check on DR Jason... I believe he's heading to the National Zoo today.
I'm up, I'm up, and I've already learned that I am an insufferable bore. How did I learn this? Because I received an e-mail this morning through this very site, and the e-mail said and I quote - "Why are you such an insufferable bore?" This e-mail was, of course, not signed. I think an equally interesting question would be "Why do you read this site if you find its proprietor an insufferable bore?" Wouldn't that mean that the anonymous person who wrote the e-mail is an insufferable twit? In any case, I think one hasn't achieved anything if he/she can't be called an insufferable bore by an insufferable twit every now and then.

And there was no return address to the email? I'm quite jealous. I receive death threats, but never accusations of being boring.
Actually, Dear Friend BK, I think you should publish the return address or "nom de crime" of the sender and we can all send suggestions for painless methods of suicide.

I quick google of that e-mail address reveals two posts made in 2004 - one to rec.arts.theatre.musicals and one to alt.showbizz.gossip. I suspect it's one of those broadwayworld idiots who used to give me a hard time, or some musical theater queen with too much time on his hands.
One of my friends at work often says, "On the Internet, no one knows you're a dog." No offense to real dogs and dog-lovers."Woof!" *wag*
And now for something completely different.... (http://people.freenet.de/schnubelken/bunnys/)
Not for the squeamish. ::)

I’m so glad that P is finely gone. The final nail in the coffin was when they said he was only putting in 20 hours a week when the other were doing over 60.
I also think that George will be the next to go.
DR DtM - "...the end of Ricoh...." LOL :)
TOD:
I collect: orchestra, opera, ballet, operetta and musical theatre scores
musical theatre books, libretti, histories, bios
souvenir programs, occasional playbills
Because of the BABES IN TOYLAND project, I've been collecting ephemera on the original production; photos never turn up, but I have a beautful program from the original production at the Majestic Theatre in New York at Columbus Circle which I will give to the NYPL Theatre Collection since all their original programs have turned to dust. I also have three programs from the Chicago Grand Opera House, where the show began in 1903; two programs are from the original summer run of 1903 and one from the September 1904 return tour. I've also got programs for BABES from the St Louis Muny, a disco production by the Weisslers, a California rewrite by Toby Bluth, a 1929 Broadway revival, a few other places, and I'm still collecting. Through eBay, I've managed to find all three editions of the early vocal scores for BABES, a few 1903-1904 newspaper clippings, and a great Jan-June 1905 theatre scrapbook of New York entertainment covering opera, theatre, vaudeville, etc. with great clippngs and photos.
I also look out for other memorabilia on Victor Herbert, Jerome Kern, and actors and staff for all the shows the project I'm on is researching.
Good morning, all! I'm not moving very energetically this morning and I slept quite late. Last night I had a wonderful visit with DR Ben and Anthony, catching up on all the gossip and seeing the photos of their Christmas vacation to Ireland and Cardiff. They are quite wonderful hosts, and evening passed too quickly.
Today, I have few plans, so perhaps I'll finally tidy up this place and make another pass at getting my income tax receipts in order. Charlotte wants to see TRISTAN AND ISOLDE tonight, so I need to ascertain where and what its showtimes are.
Thank you to the DRs who recommended the very amusing "Shaun Of The Dead". (Rodzinski or Jed perhaps!).
elmore3003, I always forget, was it the 1903 or the 1904 production of BABES IN TOYLAND the first one you attended?
My response to BgDkUWS@aol.com:
Thank you for your query. I think an equally interesting question would be, "Why do you read a website when you find its proprietor an insufferable bore?" Doesn't that make you an insufferable twit for doing so? I think an equally interesting question would be, "Why don't you have the courage of your convictions and sign your name, rather than just being insufferably anonymous? But, it's much easier to write these pithy e-mails anonymously, isn't it? That's the Internet for you.
I passed on your comment to my readers, several of them wish to write you. So I'll just pass on your insufferable e-mail address to them.
Thanks for writing, and do keep enjoying the site. I give you my word that I will continue to strive to be the best insufferable bore that I can be. I wouldn't want to let you down.
bk
Congratulations BK! I have been called insufferable and a bore, but never both at the same time...well, not out loud anyway! LOL!
It would seem to be rather childish to send such an e-mail to you, I would think.
Shame on anyone who would send you death theats or say you were boring.
I think what I have ascertained is that it is one of those DataLounge queens, you know, the ones that do love to trash both me and HHW with comments taken out of context and that sort of thing. According to them I'm one of the most horrible people who ever walked the face of the earth. And I'm jiggy with that.
BgDkUWS@aol.com.....I have concluded that the phantom e-mailer is someone from the University of West Sydney who fancies himself to have a BgDk
MBarnum?? insufferable??? NAH!!!! LOL
DR Elmore, I appreciated your comments about the show Passions. You echo how so many feel about the show. The man who writes Passions also Writes Days and they have destoryed that show.
I have never even heard of DataLounge. It must be part of that gay agenda that nobody told me about.
It gives me a place to focus all my anger and rage on. It should be retitled "40 egocentric idiots in a room shouting about nothing," and the writing is so pathetic that every character changes moods, attitudes, mentality and sex at the writers' whims. While I find the supernatural elements quite funny (Charity's closet being the door to hell, for instance), I find it's Catholic mentality in a fictional town founded by puritan immigrants from the 17th Century who probably left England to avoid the Catholic Church and it's refusal to face much late 20th Century reality (the "Big boss" running a city through his corruption to a leading lady - so utterly demented as a stalker and would-be killer - roaming around free of asylum, prison or straightjacket) out of touch. It's also the gayest show on tv: several of the women act like drag queens in heat. I catch it about twice a week, and it amazes me by its utter stupidity. I can't tell if it's the writing, the bad acting, the bad facelifts, or if it's deliberately designed to be off-kilter. I suspect it's the bad writing.
It has been mentioned on a few boards I have lucked on for the soaps and abc telly shows. It is a rather NASTy site....
TPunk, whose avatar always makes me smile, we saw Syrianna?
Jose and Ron I like Miss Vicky’s BBQ chips.
Stephanie we have autographed Star Trek cards in a lovely frame with a photo of the Enterprise.
They write the most slanderous things, quite possibly untrue since they're all founded on tacky gossip, and sign themselves Anonymous for protection. I've been attacked there for being an Acolyte. I didn't know what one was until I became one.
We actually have three birthdays to celebrate tomorrow - Matt's, and then our stage manager and associate producer's (on Monday, but we'll celebrate tomorrow).
I received a response from BgDkUWS. He told me he doesn't read the site and only came here for the e-mail address. He says he e-mailed me because of my 3000-somethingist arrogant post on All That Chat. I went over and looked at my recent two postings, neither of which I would categorize as "arrogant". I told him if he wanted to have a serious chat about what his deal is that I'd be happy to oblige. I suspect that won't be happening (and do we not really think he's reading this right now?). I now know that he's one of two people who continually come after me any time I post factual information on ATC. He also said that since I'd made his e-mail public, he was going to make mine available to "his" readers - so it's either datalounge or this really reprehensible and inane knockoff of ATC called That's All Chat. As I said, it's all these broadwayworld guys who got annoyed with me at the time Juliana was posting her journal and they were deriding it mercilessly - I had the bad form to stick up for a friend of mine. Terrible that.
At least we know who were playing with now. And I'm jiggy with that.
Stephanie we have autographed Star Trek cards in a lovely frame with a photo of the Enterprise.
I'm sure he was happy to get it. I'll say this: He was nibbling on its contents (fresh fruit) before the show, at intermission, and after the show.
I forgot to mention that i took the children out for ice cream last night for a multiple celebration. First of all, to celebrate son Jed's new job. Secondly, to celebrate daughter Ann's fortunate excape from the evil people at her former job. And finally, of course, to celebrate the Seahawks trip to the Super Bowl next week.**
** I should point out that Ann was the only one of us that cared at all, about the Super Bowl or the Seahawks, but we felt we had to humor her.
I really am surprised, DR Jennifer, that you did not know that on the 100th episode (this week's installment) one of the people closest to Clark (i.e. someone from the opening credits) was going to die.
In the close-ups, he is the second one with the gun. He was so young and cute, a mother’s opinion anyway.
I saw Tammy eating some strawberries, so, yes, I think he was sharing it.
Ginny the studio does look lovely.
DRLaura, cauliflower and frosting is healthier than chips and frosting. Hmmm what can you do to get Sandra to substitute the frosting for a healthier topping? ;D Are you reading this Sandra? :)
Stephanie I know what you mean about Scott Bakula, such a shame. When the show originally aired we couldn’t receive it on a station with a decent picture. Lately we have been watching re-runs. I’m not so sure it was Scott as much as the writing or the rest of the cast.
I think I'm still full!
Hmmm I used to watch DAYS many moons ago (it must have been the 80s). But I have to watched it for many many years. But I do watch The Young and The Restless, which i love.
I say we are all a bunch of insufferable bores. And pretty darn nice ones.
The Mrs. Oswald quote cut from Life:
"Why was everyone so hot and bothered about that shadow under Lee's nose? He was just so handsome carrying that rifle, how could anyone be paying attention to a little ol' shadow?"
Count me in as a Smallville watcher! I haven't watched yet, either, it's on my Tivo, waiting for me to get home from Deceit tonight! I have a pretty good guess who dies, but now I can't wait to see this shocking twist!
Stephanie
Hi all, well I knew the day was coming when I would get totally stressed out and melt down over this move and it happened today. I got extremely irritated at a friend who is always there to have me pay for things for him and who is now insisting over and over that I need to spend extra money for quality on a rug of all things even though he knows I've pretty much hit the end of the budget for awhile- but he can't be bothered to help me pack, move or do anything else. That and the overwhelming feeling that I'll never get all this packed and the feeling that it's easier to play on the computer than get anything done and the hour I spent searching everywhere for something I put where it belonged but didn't bother looking THERE I mean why would it be where it belongs, nothing else is at this point.
AHHHHHHH....... So I haven't gotten a thing done today and that's just the way it is. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. I think I'll just sit back and relax tonight. Maybe a hot bath and early to bed. Today was bound to happen. Now that it's over maybe I can get some work done
DakotaCelt good vibes for your family.
Much needed moving vibes to Cillaliz.
...he is the second one with the gun...
I hate technology. :)
Craig packing heat!!! Is that Aunt Penny's influence?

... When you take an academic approach to the workings of the genre it is rather fascinating...
Good thing you didn't get into porno!

I got an incredible batch of forthcoming DVDs today, including the new SE of Breakfast at Tiffany's. More about them upon my returning.
JRand I'm sorry to say no. Keith worked non-stop all day. I think he should have time tomorrow morning.
I’m an idiot. It won’t sound as good but I just popped the CD (I forget I can do that ::)) into my computer and am now listening to THE WAYWARD WIND.
THANK YOU!!! :D
DR CILLA LIZ - you just know that Guenevere had the same problems when she left her kingdom and moved over to Camelot! Eat some pumpkin seeds and survey your domain...
I read lots of entertainment news, but did not hear anything about this. And did not even know it was someone closest to Clark till you just wrote it.
I know there are not that many of us that watch SMALLVILLE here. But I never watch it till sunday. So just leave a bit of space if you can. Especially if you're going to say something major.
How can something be boring AND arch? hmmmm

When we got to the movie, TRISTAN AND ISOLDE was sold out, so we went to see Terrence Malick's THE NEW WORLD. Charlotte was puzzled by its nonlinear structure and liesurely pace but I think she enjoyed it. I found it quite beautiful and moving with gorgeous images and wonderful sequences. I wasn't crazy about James Horner's score, which wasn't as irritating as Phillip Glass but not much better. I don't think I've seen Colin Farrell in a film before, and I thought he was quite wonderful, but so were Christian Bale and the young actress whose name I cannot begin to spell. Beautiful costumes and design, too.
I also want to see that movie also... I hear it is quite good and in some way very respective of the native Americans...
She was restlessAnnette was the artist who sang THE WAYWARD WIND?
Very respectful and they're played by Native-American actors. I recommend it very highly.
Have you ever seen Smoke Signals?
Never. But reading Ronald Firbank is like reading a dirty joke told in smoke signals.
... am now listening to THE WAYWARD WIND.
Smoke Signals is a movie based on the book by Sherman Alexie. he is Couer d'Alene Indian and it is a fascinating read. Very well done and the cast is entirely Native American.
I also recommend Lakota Woman by Mary Crow Dog.
Through work I can take one class. I am fascinated by different cultures and I am taking a class on Native Ameriicans of the Plains.
Hey there Danise.
Jane, I agree with you about Bakula... I am also a Star Trek fan... Loved Star Trek: The Next Generation...
I thought SMOKE SIGNALS was based on THE LONE RANGER AND TONTO FISTFIGHT IN HEAVEN
Love this license plate
Count me in as well. I loved ST:TNG. Liked DS9. Watched Voyger and lost all interest in Enterprise.

DR Danise, the host said P had done 20 HOURS TOTAL IN THE 5 WEEKS. 20 hours per week would have been good. She said he had done 20 hours total while the others had done 130 hours.
I was really happy too. But I think the show manipulated the audience into voting him out. But I don't mind!
Loved the first two seasons of ENTERPRISE. Hated the third season. Liked about half of the fourth (last) season, but the finale episode has to rank as THE WORST finale in the history of the STAR TREK franchise.
Great!!
Nice to meet you Danise!!
Nice to meet you as well, DR DakotaCelt!
I'm a SciFi fan from way back. Went to many a con back in the day. And I did dress up from time to time--even won a costume contest once. If I told you what I was wearing at the time you wouldn't believe me.
Sorry folks, it's 11:50 PM and I have to get some sleep. I stayed up to do my tax return. I get a refund! Yay!!! I just love the fact I don't have PAY!
Have a wonderful evening all!

More in the notes, but I have to eat now, as I haven't eaten all day.
But my real treasure is an autographed copy of WRITER'S BLOCK.
I have not really ever bought something just because it was collectable...only because I enjoyed it.
Is this a slow news day here at haineshisway.com? I just gained back use of my handy-dandy laptop. A former girlfriend of Mr. Mark Bakalor was here today - she's living in LA and I hired her to import the e-mail addresses of everyone who's purchased Kritzerland CDs, so that I can do proper e-mail blasts when we have new releases (a couple of new releases coming soon). She also tallied sales on all the CDs. Best seller? After the Ball.

As for actual "collectibles" that I might have, I actually took it to a taping of "Antiques Roadshow" a year and a half ago. It's a limited edition, numbered (set 1000 of 1000) collection of every different song that Stephen C. Foster wrote, called "Foster Hall Reproductions," that was put together in 1933. It's a pretty specialized item and the appraiser totally guessed on its value.
Because of that, the Pacific Northwest contingent of HHW had our very first meeting! JMK (and his lovely wife Betsy), Jane, MBarnum and I all met in person at JMK's house in Portland, which is where "Antiques Roadshow" was taping! My music wasn't appraised on camera (darn) but I can be seen for about three seconds behind an appraisal of a big blue bowl. I'm wearing a tie-dyed t-shirt and a green Hawaiian shirt over that. I wanted to be easily spottable! ;)
ACOLYTE!
