Hold your hats and hallelujah!  What is this SIMPLY SONDHEIM benefit in San Francisco that was mentioned in the notes?

And an autographed ST item from Mr S. himself?  That settles it, Mr BK.  Surely they have your measurements at Armani Wells - and when you look at the photos as the years go by - CALL THEM UP and ask them to set aside a tuxedo shirt, studs, tie, and the whole bit.  YOU MUST BE DRESSED TO THE NINES AND THE TEETH AND TIP TO TOE for Saturday evening.  You must dazzle and bedazzle!  Call Armani Wells - they will be GLAD to sell you something!

A man in a suit looks very nice.  :D

But a man in a tuxedo looks dressed for the occasion!  ;D

HUGE mail call today...courtesy of USPS/UPS/FedEx.

DVDs -- War of the Worlds, The Polar Express, the Streisand TV Specials boxed set, and the two Goldie Hawn/Chevy Chase movies I mentioned earlier, plus "The Rains Came."

CDs -- "Memoirs of a Geisha" (soundtrack album) and Marvin Gaye's "What's Goin' On?" -- 2 CD deluxe edition.

Ephemera -- color stills #3 and #4 from "Raintree County" (I'm attempting to build a set through individual purchases as stills I need become available).

-- Pressbooks for "Mutiny on the Bounty" and "Demetrius and the Gladiators"

Today's stills lack the excitement of those from earlier times.   ;D

DR RLP did they seem to take any special care in photographing Clift after the accident - or does it seem like the negatives were retouched?

For the briefest of moments, I thought you meant that the 2 CDs above were together in a "2CD deluxe edition," which confused me mightily.   ???   ;D

They are color scenes from the film...not posed.  I know they did the best they could to shoot Clift from various angles that disguised his disfigurements.

I've detected nothing in any of the stills that betray those efforts.

You mean, the two didn't connect for you?  :D

No..."Memoirs" was one CD and "What's Goin On" was a second, 2-CD, album

Well that goes without saying.  GUNGA DIN is on TCM tonight!   That's a movie!   8)

Author of the novel RAINTREE COUNTY was of course from Indiana!  I first saw the movie when Frances Farmer presented it on two evenings on her program.   8)

Der Brucer and I saw Bart in a show he did earlier than YAGMCB.  He was in Triumph of Love on Broadway, along with such unknowns as Susan Egan, Kevin Chamberlin, Nancy Opel, Christopher Seiber, Betty Buckley, and the most fabulous singer you'll ever hear, F. Murray Abraham.

Yet another show that didn't really work on Broadway, but works very well in regional theater, IMO.

In another Bart/Egan pairing, he did the singing for young Hercules and Susan sang/voiced Meg in the Disney animated film a few years back.

I had completely forgotten about TRIUMPH OF LOVE. However, Susan was far from unknown when she did that show - she had already starred in BEAUTY AND THE BEAST and STATE FAIR by that time.

Marty was very good at the vets.  He didn't try to chase any of the resident cats, including Tripod (whose name is quite obvious when you meet him).  He was very quiet when we put him on the doctor's table, which he normally cannot stand, and didn't whimper even once when the doctor inspected his paw.

Basically, he was given a cortizone shot and a regimen of pills for the next ten days, to make sure any infection doesn't spread.  This means he gets to have a special treat of Fig Newtons, our favorite means of hiding the pills.

Hopefully, he'll be all better within a week.

I have this CD.  A local community theater did this show, and it was very good.  Their theater (a black box, really) only holds about 140 people or so, so the intimacy really helped.  I can't imagine seeing that show in a large Broadway theater.

Jason, I was being humorous.  Note one of the other women's names in my post, some gal from Texas or some place like that.   ::)

Robert Vaughn was in the audience that night.  He scowled the entire time.

Or maybe that's just his natural expression.

Back from a strenuous rehearsal.  I love Ms Stritch, but she can be a handful!  She will be wonderful, I do believe, and it's interesting watching her work.

DR JRand: Thanks - I'm glad you enjoyed the pictures. That photo was of a sea lion. I was playing around with my camera to see what kind of quality I could get with the zoom - that picture was taken from about 50 feet away. I was quite pleased with the result. ;D

Oh.....it was a sea lion!!!  I thought it was a very large slug.
