Saturday morning greetings!  Why am I up, showered, and dressed so early on my day off?  Because I have to be at an online state board meeting at 9am - glad we're not meeting in person or I'd have been on the road for an hour by now!

I'll be back later, but here's something to keep y'all busy in the meantime:

FreeRice

It's an addictive vocabulary quiz that a co-worker introduced me to yesterday.

Maybe it's because I'm a little kvetchy this weekend, but I'm reminded that WHILE YOU WERE SLEEPING gave me a slight case of the creeps.  Without giving away spoilers, I found the actions of the Sandra Bullock character to be sick and sad and almost indecently self-centered in light of what was going on in the plot, and that kept me from enjoying what what really a well-made film.

And yet I'm reminded that I really liked JUST LIKE HEAVEN, with Reese Witherspoon and Mark Ruffalo, which is similarly based in a sort of obsession with someone the hero hardly knows, maybe because of the tone of the film.

That two "I'm reminded" posts in a row.  I must be getting old-farty and kvetchy.

Hope you're feeling better today, Jennifer.

Thanks to Cilla for sharing all about the caucus - very interesting stuff - and you must be exhausted.  At least the air waves have now been returned to you!

TOD:

Groundhog Day.... Still a fun film after all these years

It's one of the few films that I can watch over and over again without getting board.  Whenever I'm flipping channels and it happens to be on, I cna just start watching it at any point and get absorbed into it very quickly.

DR Jose - I think that Liz is playing only Friday night and Saturday night.  I can do either, but have a slight preference for Saturday.  Can I interest you in the Saturday night show (the 12th)?

Anyone care to join us to see Liz Callaway at the Metropolitan Room?

It must have been something I ate.  I'm having digestive issues beyond the usual stuff.  Really nothing major, just making me a litttle kvetchy and  krabby.

Hmm, maybe a "But Alive" parody should be in the works, but APPLAUSE is over a month away.  :)

Good morning!

Another cold morning but it promises to be a beautiful day when the sun starts warming things up. Into the 50s today and into the 60s tomorrow. Good times!

I've liked all of the film comedy suggestions so far. I especially love the Christopher Guest mockumentaries BEST IN SHOW (his best) and WAITING FOR GUFFMAN. Am also a big fan of WHILE YOU WERE SLEEPING and FOUR WEDDINGS AND A FUNERAL.

I liked RUNAWAY BRIDE a lot (and Julia Roberts' other hit film comedy that year NOTTING HILL).

I thought SIDEWAYS was wonderful.

And let's not forget those wonderful Pixar animated films like FINDING NEMO, TOY STORY 2, CARS, and RATATOUILLE.

Today I'll likely continue with BONES episodes while I cook and eat lunch.

Tonight, I'd like to watch CON-AIR on Blu-ray and since it's less than two hours and there don't appear to be a huge number of extras, I'll probably watch either CHILDREN OF MEN (sDVD) or OCEAMS THIRTEEN (Blu-ray).

I'll be heavily concentrating on TV DVD sets for the next week or two. I have OSWALD'S GHOST (the PBS Lee Harvey Oswald documentary) and SABRINA THE TEENAGE WITCH Season 3 coming up next, and yesterday I received review copies of seasons three for both THE ODD COUPLE and HAWAII-FIVE-O. I have A LOT of TV watching ahead of me!

Other comedy movies I just end up watching and loving even from the middle are Moonstruck, Sleepless in Seattle, and the old Goldie Hawn movies, such as Seems Like Old Times and Foul Play.

Dear lord, how could I have forgotten HOT FUZZ, one of the best comedies I've seen in a long, long time.

I also loved GALAXY QUEST.

I guess I should head down now and straighten up the bedroom a bit before checking the mail and then deciding what's for lunch.
