DR Jason, I actually have a MTI question for you--what recent show do people call about most to request that is not yet being licensed (whether MTI handles it or not)?  I think someone else asked this a while back but I don't recall the answer.

Good morning!

Gorgeous day here: crisp, clear, and not exceedingly cold (is that anything like excruciatingly arch?). Anyway, looking forward to a lazy day here but hope to get in a walk later since it's so beautiful.

I'm betting that DR Vixmom is fervently searching for a dancing carrot for her page two dance.

I have a ton of shows from last night to get through today, and I also started FLIGHT OF THE PHOENIX on DVD early yesterday evening, too, when I had finished with ICE STATION ZEBRA.

I'm still stewing about the removal of THE BOOK OF DANIEL from the NBC schedule. Focus on the Family is crowing now about how with their portests and boycott, they are responsible for the show's failure. Well, they certainly scared off advertisers (scary in itself that a group could weild such power), but I know if the show had soared in the ratings, advertisers would have been breaking down the door to buy into the show.

Focus on the Family has been waging a war against DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES since it began, but advertisers haven't backed away from sponsoring it since it's among the five most popular weekly series on TV.

Oh, my! Warner Bros. is certainly dipping into their vault for some classic MGM, Warners Bros., and RKO treasures to be released next week:

LUST FOR LIFE

CAPTAINS COURAGEOUS

THE CHAMP

CIMARRON

THE GOOD EARTH

JOHNNY BELINDA

KITTY FOYLE

Wonder why they didn't find some way to tie these together and release them in a boxed set? They're usually so much cheaper that way.

Looking at them in a string, they're all Oscar-winning movies, so perhaps that could have been the link to them.

Went to the NYC ballet last night. I do the programs for it, so why not? Well, after I watched the first two segments from the audience, my contact brought me backstage to watch SYMPHONY IN C from the wings. I mean I was standing right there watching these ballerinas clown around and make jokes right before hopping out there and doing their thing. It lent a crazy perspective to ballet in general. It seems a lot more athletic up close, I'll say that.

Speaking of THE BOOK OF DANIEL, I was looking up actor D. W. Moffett on the IMDB and see he was in last weeks episode...I wish I had known beforehand so I could have seen it. I like him.

That is what I miss the most about the old, old TV GUIDE...when they would list the guest cast for shows. It was very handy.

That would have been fun Rodzinksi. And odd. Those ballerinas always look so stern and serious, I can't imagine them even cracking a smile, let alone joking around.

I can only remark that I am stunned.

Stunned is the word.

Stunned.

But...alas, alack, alarum, propriety will not allow me to say why.

No....will not allow me.

Not at all.

But...perhaps..."The Shadow" knows.

BK, have you ever seen the northern lights?

If I'm on a high hill I can see the northern lights of the San Fernando Valley as I come home from LA.  Conversely, I can see the southern lights of LA if I'm going over the hill.  Sometimes, if I'm in the Hollywood hills, I can see the eastern and western lights, too.

Last night's "American Idol" auditions from North Carolina were, at their best, a hoot and a half.

I cannot believe most of the wannabes actually think they can sing...how on earth could they?

I could imagine it if they were 10-12 years old...but most were in their 20s...and apparently very emotionally immature and...out of touch with anything remotely linked to reality.

It was all great fun, to be sure, but if you look at it a different way, you might start worrying that the United States' future is in serious jeopardy.

Question for BK--do you have any plans to publish DECEIT? (I know I would love to read it.)

The idea is to get it with a stock and amateur house like Samuel French or Dramatist's Play Service.  If anyone has a contact at either place, let me know.  Otherwise, I'll do it myself, because I should think it's a natural for stock and amateur and regional theaters - a three-hand, one-set thriller.

Actually, he had a recurring role as Daniel's brother. He had had lunch with Daniel's wife and was overseen by the most gossipy woman in town who of course was going to start the rumor that they were sneaking around on Daniel.

Sorry you missed him.

The local TV critic met and talked with some of the people who appeared on last night's show (taped many months ago, of course).

The ventriloquist did not bring his dummy to the audition. When the producers found out he could do that, they made him go home and get it. Just goes to show that a lot of the things we see on those auditions are set up to make for "more interesting television."
