Note to DRs SWoodyWhite and DerBrucer -  The traffic in and around DC has been quite unpredictable lately.  Moreso than usual.  Yes, they finally opened up the new exit ramp at the Springfield Mixing Bowl, but they've also started the re-decking project on the Roosevelt Bridge...  There was a fire in a row house near Dupont Circle this morning... And Old Town Alexandria is a mess due to the Massoui trial going on.

I'd leave a little more room in your travel time/plans just in case.

*And WTOP is also in the midst of changing radio frequencies.  They can still be picked up on 1500AM and 107.7FM, but their main signal now is at 103.5FM.  -The classical station that was there is now over at 104.1FM.  Traffic and Weather on the :08's!

Jose- Congrats  on your part in making Damn Yankees  a nominee for oustanding musical!

Thank you.

All I can say is that I better get mentioned in a acceptance speech or two!

Alas, I'll be at the Palace the night of the Helen Hayes' ceremony in the midst of previews of Lestat.  I guess that's a good excuse for not attending the ceremony this year.

"Fricative" is that the verb tense we are supposed to use when we speak in the present  about a person who may exist in the future.?

And speaking, as we were, of film composers, I just sawa notice that one of my favorites just passed away. Akira Ifukube.

I know that BK and JRand55 will know who that is.

BK question: Have you ever been to Clifton's Cafeteria in LA? I don't remember you mentioning it in the Kritzer books or on this site, but it sounds like a neat restaurant, with a forest inside, a grotto and whatnot. If you have been, is it a fun atmosphere?

I have indeed been to Clifton's, but not when I was a child.  Our cafeteria was Ontra, who had several restaurants - one in Beverly Hills, one in the Miracle Mile (on Wilshire), one in Hollywood, etc.  I believe I went into quite some detail about Ontra in the second Kritzer book.

Love Akira Ifukube, a very influential Japanese composer - some wonderful classical works and some wonderful film soundtracks - he will forever be known as the man who gave Godzilla his music.

Hmm... I really do want to get some sort of run in today... But the temps have only climbed to just about 39 degrees... However, I do have my thermals and workout clothes... Which is what they're made for, so...

We shall see...

DR Matt, your "father" in that picture looks familiar, but I can't place him.  Who played Charlie?

His name was David Horgan. I know he did a lot of regional theater back in the 1980s, and I heard he landed some national commercials later in the 1980s. He may even have guest starred on some shows, but I didn't watch TV much in the 1980s, so I wouldn't know if he got to LA or not.

RE BAMBI II: good gracious, it's not like this is the first made-for-video sequel that Disney has done with one of their classics. THE LITTLE MERMAID, CINDERELLA, LADY AND THE TRAMP, PETER PAN, POCAHONTAS, MULAN, THE LION KING have all had video sequels, and ALADDIN has had two of them.

I had a full afternoon watching things that were recorded last night. I started off with the first SCRUBS episode (had to use the VCR in the bedroom to get the second one at 9:30). Funny. Zach Braff's real-life girl friend Mandy Moore is doing a guest star arc on the show, and this was the first episode.

Next was LOVE MONKEY which was much ado about nothing - making a music video. I didn't enjoy that major plot much at all though the camaraderie between the four guys is always enjoyable.

Then I tuned in LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT. Had lots of guest stars on this one: Betty Buckley, Chris Potter, Rebecca DeMornay all doing first rate work. The conclusion wasn't much of a surprise, however.

Next up was THE CLOSER, another outstanding episode. I just LOVE how Brenda finally figures things out and then manipulates the interrogations to get things to go her way. Sensational show.

Finally, SUPERNATURAL. Shades of CARRIE in this one, but nevertheless very tense. A gripping episode, one of the best of the season.

Well, there is a website where one can get a fair rundown of every Warner Brothers release ever, and through that I was able to compile this list that goes up to 1976. I'm sure there are holes...

FANNY, PARRISH, ROME ADVENTURE, MUSIC MAN, GAY PURR-EE, GYPSY, PLAYGIRLS, DEAD RINGER, YESTERDAY TODAY AND  TOMORROW, SEX AND THE SINGLE GIRL, HARLOW, ECCO, INSIDE DAISY CLOVER, BATTLE OF THE BULGE, STOP THE WORLD I WANT TO GET OFF, WHO'S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF, KALEIDOSCOPE, NOT WITH MY WIFE YOU DON'T, ANY WEDNESDAY, HOTEL, THE BOBO, CAMELOT, THE FOX, BONNIE AND CLYDE, PETULIA, THE WILD BUNCH, THE ARRANGEMENT, THE DAMNED, PERFORMANCE, THE PRIME OF MISS JEAN BRODIE, SUMMER OF 42, BILLY JACK, THE HEART IS A LONELY HUNTER, BULLITT, THE BIG BOUNCE, GOODBYE COLUMBUS, LAST SUMMER, MADWOMAN OF CHAILLOT, YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE, THE LEARNING TREE, KLUTE, FINIAN'S RAINBOW, A CLOCKWORK ORANGE, MALCOM X (1972), STEELYARD BLUES, MARJOE, ALICE'S ADVENTURES IN WONDERLAND, THE THIEF WHO CAME TO DINNER, O LUCKY MAN!, CLEOPATRA JONES, ENTER THE DRAGON, MAME, THE EXORCIST, BLAZING SADDLES, THE TOWERING INFERNO.

Good Afternoon!

I've spent a good chunk of the last hour entering my new and updated Lestat schedule into iCalendar.  It's nice seeing a very full March and April in my schedule.

:)

*However, I didn't realize that we are now opening on a Tuesday night.  I mean, I knew we were now opening on April 25, but I didn't realize it was a Tuesday.  And we also have a strange opening week schedule too:

Monday @ 8:00, Tuesday @ 6:30 (Opening), Wednesday @ 8:00, Thursday @ 8:00, Friday @ 2:00 & 8:00, Saturday @ 2:00 & 8:00.

Then we're off Sunday and Monday before our regular schedule starts up on Tuesday, May 2, at 7:00.

In any case... That's gonna be quite a busy week for Broadway Opening Nights:

The Wedding Singer - April 27
Hot Feet - April 30

YEP!

And The Drowsy Chaperone will be moving into the Marquis now that The Woman in White will be closing.

Drowsy Chaperone Will Charleston Into the Marquis Theatre

Hmmm... At least Sutton Foster knows her way around the backstage area there already.

Oh...

And since the temps dropped a bit faster this afternoon than I had thought they would, I've postponed my run until tomorrow.  I don't mind the cold, but I prefer to run when it's cold and sunny, rather than cold and dusk-y.  In the meantime, I suspect some crunches and push-ups are in my near future.

There is a very convoluted joke waiting for the enterprising soul (calling TCB....) vis a vis this man's surname and an illicit relationship with a famed animator who may have been called by a nickname.  :)

I didn't take a walk today either. It's been very cold, and as I've only been feeling fair rather than good, I thought it'd be in my best interests just to stay inside today and keep warm.
