Back from a lovely supper at the California Pizza Kitchen.  It was fun catching up with Miss Rush, and I'm sure she'll have fun in NY.

I did eat my plate, by the way. Shayla was overjoyed.

We shared spinach artichoke dip and I had the sausage and pepper penne pasta.  I must say, the portions at CPK get smaller every time I'm there.

What to watch.  I've tried watching three movies in the latest film noir box set, but I just am not enjoying them.  Earlier I began His Kind Of Woman, but it's just not doing it for me.  Perhaps I'll find something else to watch.

In more important news, the fully uncut roadshow version of Pepe is being shown on TCM - early Monday morning -  I'll be TIVOing, of course.

goodnight Lucy.......

I remember My Little Margie and Oh, Susanna as well when they were shown as reruns back in the 70s.

June Kenney guest starred on an episode of Oh, Susanna playing a teen who elopes with her boyfriend...or maybe she was on her honeymoon...or both. I really don't remeber for sure. All I know is that I would LOVE to find that episode.

"pepe" made the top 20 for Duane Eddy. Does that count as a success.

It was also recorded by Caterina Valente. (just to make sure there is a link to yesterday and tomorrow. Add in today and there is a link to the lovely Sophia Loren).

Leonard Maltin lists "Pepe" as a BOMB.  It certainly was box office poison in OZ.

I liked about 1/2 of the actresses in STEEL MAGNOLIAS.  I thought Dukakis' accent was terrible and her line readings were atrocious.

Actually, Jack, I thought it terribly authentic to nearly a fault.  She sounded EXACTLY like Ms. Jackie Smith Wansley, currently of Port Royal SC, late of Johnston SC, who is a longtime family friend with one of the most gloriously over-the-top Southern accents you can imagine.

What on earth do Hoosiers know from deep South accents anyway?

Pepe was indeed a box-office disaster, but I liked it when I was a young tad of a lad of a sprig of a twig of a youth and I like it now.  So there.

That's right, boys and girls!  I came off a four-day weekend this morning and I start a five-day weekend after tomorrow.

Life's tough sometimes......i'n't it?

No...totally a contradiction in terms.  Like Army Intelligence.

Unlike "Navel" Intelligence. I just love well-educated body parts!

How about the grayhound?

I let Music Guy off the hook for his redundant "the hoi polloi", but that used up my goodwill for the day.

And I did watch STUDIO 60 when I went back down (before I put in THE KING AND I). It was a very banal episode that kept flashing back to Matt's first year with the show and his first meeting with Harriet. All the jumping back and forth in time was irritating since the story being told wasn't really especially interesting.

Steven Weber (my favorite STUDIO 60 character) didn't appear at all this week, and the whole episode just seemed feeble.

And the ratings were down again last night as well. The writing's on the wall for this show.

I didn't care for this episode, either. :-\ I just wasn't interested in their history.
